Which Hypercharges are actually worth unlocking in October 2026? A Hypercharge can turn a mid-tier brawler into a game-ender — or do almost nothing. The gap between the best and worst Hypercharge in the game is enormous, and because each one costs a full stack of Coins to unlock, picking the wrong first few is a real setback. This guide ranks the best Hypercharges in Brawl Stars for the live Season 55 "Brawl-O-Ween" meta — graded not on how good the brawler is overall, but on how much the Hypercharge itself changes the outcome of a fight.

Quick answer (TLDR): The best Hypercharges to unlock first in October 2026 are Mortis, Surge, Max, R-T and Kit — the five that most reliably flip a teamfight the moment they activate. Right behind them sit Bowling Bolt (Bolt), Leon, Sandy, Belle, Colt and Edgar. There are roughly 104 Hypercharges live across the 108-brawler roster; the two newest are Wendy's "Green Energy" and Nori's "Master Fisherman", both added in the September 2026 update. The meta still runs on the September 1 and September 16, 2026 balance passes — Season 55 brought content (Vince, the #FindGus event), not a new buff/nerf pass. Rank by impact, not by the brawler's base tier: a great Hypercharge on an easy-to-pilot brawler beats a tiny one on an S-tier pick.

Key takeaways

  • A Hypercharge grades on its own merit, not the brawler's. Every Hypercharge gives the same base aura (+5% damage, +5% shield, +20% movement speed), but the unique effect bolted onto the Super is what matters. Mortis getting a healing dash is worth far more than a strong brawler gaining a 5% stat bump.
  • Unlock priority is Mortis → Surge → Max → R-T → Kit. These are the picks where the Hypercharge most consistently wins the trade it's used in, across open-mode and Ranked play, as of the October 2026 meta.
  • There's no October balance patch — the meta is the September one. The last changes shipped in the early-September 2026 update (Update 69) and a September 16 maintenance that adjusted roughly 18 brawlers, with Shade the most-nerfed — his Hyper Super lost most of its bonus damage. Season 55 "Brawl-O-Ween" (live October 1, 2026) added Vince, the month-long #FindGus event and Coffin Boxes — no new buffs or nerfs.
  • ~104 Hypercharges exist across 108 brawlers. The newest two are Wendy "Green Energy" and Nori "Master Fisherman" from the September update. Not every brawler has one, and the newest brawler, Vince (#108), does not — he only launched this month and has no settled data.
  • Don't trust a single win-rate list. Community trackers disagree hard on mid-tier Hypercharges. The S-tier (Mortis/Surge/Max/R-T/Kit) is stable across sources; below that, cross-check the live win-rate with vs without the Hypercharge rather than a raw editorial ranking.

What is a Hypercharge in Brawl Stars?

A Hypercharge is the top-tier upgrade a brawler can have. Once you hit Power 11 on a brawler, you can unlock its Hypercharge for roughly 5,000 Coins (Hypercharges can also drop from Legendary and Chaos Starr Drops). After that, a second charge bar fills up as you use your Super. Fill it, and your next Super becomes a Hyper Super that, for a few seconds, grants a flat aura of +5% damage, +5% shield and +20% movement speed on top of a unique, brawler-specific effect.

That unique effect is everything. Two examples from opposite ends of the spectrum:

  • Shelly's Hyper Super just makes her Super blast 33% larger — nice, but it doesn't change how a fight resolves.
  • Mortis's Hyper Super heals him on the dash and resets aggressively, turning a squishy dasher into a brawler who can dive, kill and survive the follow-up — a complete shift in how the brawler plays.

That's why a Hypercharge tier list is different from a brawler tier list. We're not asking "is this brawler good?" — we're asking "how much does this Hypercharge change the outcome of the fight it's used in?" A strong Hypercharge on a brawler you already play is one of the highest-value unlocks in the game; a weak one is a trap you paid 5,000 Coins for.

How do you get Hypercharges in October 2026?

Three routes, and one of them changed recently:

  • Coins at Power 11. The direct path: max a brawler to Power 11, then spend ~5,000 Coins on its Hypercharge. Predictable and the only way to choose which Hypercharge you get.
  • Starr Drops. A Legendary Starr Drop can contain a Hypercharge — it's one of the headline rewards of that tier alongside a new high-rarity brawler or a top skin. Chaos Drops, the upgraded tier above Legendary added for 2026, also roll Hypercharges (plus high-rarity brawlers and skins). These are luck-based, so you can't rely on them to get a specific Hypercharge.
  • Brawler Blast (not Starr Road). Since Update 69 (September 2026), unlocking a brawler with Credits runs the new Brawler Blast mini-game, which can hand out bonus Power Levels, Gadgets, Star Powers, Gears and Hypercharges along the way. Starr Road is retired — if a guide still tells you to "use the Starr Road," it's out of date.

Because the Coin cost is steep and Coins are your bottleneck for everything, unlock order matters more than anything else in this guide. Spend your first Hypercharge Coins on the picks below, in order.

Brawl Stars Hypercharge tier list (October 2026)

Ranked on impact — how reliably the Hypercharge wins the fight it's used in — for the live Season 55 meta. Where the brawler is also strong right now, that's a bonus, not the grade.

S-tier — unlock these first

  • Mortis — still the gold standard. The healing, resetting dash turns Mortis from a hit-and-run gimmick into a genuine dive threat that can survive the kill. If you play Mortis at all, this is your first Hypercharge, full stop.
  • Surge — the Hyper Super spreads his split-shot and accelerates his stage-up snowball; a hypercharged Surge that gets rolling is one of the hardest things to stop in the mode.
  • Max — team-wide speed that repositions your whole squad in a teamfight. Max's own September nerfs (slower Super charge) hurt his uptime, but when the Hyper Super lands it still swings the fight. Elite in coordinated play.
  • R-T — the Hyper Super amplifies his marking/area control so his damage ramps across the whole team's output. One of the clearest "press button, win teamfight" Hypercharges in the game.
  • Kit — the pounce-and-latch control, hypercharged, locks down a priority target long enough for your team to collapse. A top-tier disruption tool in 3v3 modes.

A-tier — excellent, unlock after your mains' S-tier picks

  • Bowling Bolt (Bolt) — one of the newer Hypercharges (June 2026) and a strong zone-control tool on open maps, even after Bolt's shield nerfs.
  • Leon — extended invisibility and burst make his Hyper Super a reliable pick-off, especially in Showdown and assassin-friendly maps.
  • Sandy — his Hyper Super adds +20% speed and a ~0.5s silence to the sandstorm, which shuts down abilities at exactly the wrong moment for the enemy.
  • Belle — +2 tiles of range on an already long-range control brawler turns her into an oppressive poke machine from safety.
  • Colt — the Super gets ~120% wider, which at Colt's fire rate is a wall of damage that clears a lane or a zone.
  • Edgar — aggressive sustain-on-dive; in solo and low-coordination lobbies, hypercharged Edgar closes and finishes fast.

B-tier — good on the right brawler, not a priority

  • Amber — strong fire-saturation payoff on the right open-map comp; data trackers often list her Hypercharge's win-rate delta among the highest, but it's map-dependent.
  • 8-Bit, Colt-adjacent damage dealers, Ash, Pam — solid value when you already main them, but they don't flip a fight on their own the way the S-tier does.
  • Crow, Colette, Starr Nova, Gale, Bibi — all playable, all situationally strong; unlock only after your core picks.

C-tier — niche or outclassed

  • Hypercharges that mostly add a stat bump or a small AoE increase (Shelly, Bull, Nita, Jacky and similar). They're not bad — the base aura is always useful — but they rarely decide a game, so they're low on the unlock queue.

D/F-tier — skip until there's nothing left

  • The weakest Hypercharges give a near-negligible effect on top of the aura. On data trackers that compare win rate with vs without the Hypercharge, several brawlers actually post a lower win rate with it active (because activating it changes their Super timing for no real payoff). Don't spend early Coins here.

A note on the newest Hypercharges. Wendy "Green Energy" and Nori "Master Fisherman" arrived with the September 2026 update. Both brawlers took nerfs in the September 1 patch, but their new Hypercharges partly offset that — Wendy in particular stayed near the top of the ladder meta. They're worth unlocking if Wendy or Nori is in your rotation, but they sit in the A/B band on pure Hypercharge impact, not S.

Which Hypercharge should you unlock first?

The honest answer: the best Hypercharge on a brawler you actually play and have at Power 11. A world-class Hypercharge is useless if you never pick the brawler. So the priority is:

  • Do you main an S-tier Hypercharge brawler? (Mortis, Surge, Max, R-T, Kit.) If yes, that's your first unlock — no contest.
  • No S-tier main? Take the best A-tier Hypercharge on a brawler you're comfortable piloting (Leon and Edgar are the most beginner-friendly; Belle and Sandy reward positioning).
  • Pushing a specific mode? Match the Hypercharge to the mode — Colt/Belle for open Gem Grab and Hot Zone, Leon/Edgar for Showdown, Kit/Max for coordinated Ranked 3v3.
  • Only use spare Coins on B-tier and below, and never dump early Coins into C/D-tier Hypercharges.

The mistake to avoid: unlocking a Hypercharge on your highest-trophy brawler just because it's already Power 11. Trophy count doesn't mean the Hypercharge is good. Grade the Hypercharge, not the brawler.

FAQ

How many Hypercharges are in Brawl Stars in October 2026? There are roughly 104 Hypercharges live, spread across the 108-brawler roster — most brawlers have one, but not all do, and the newest brawler (Vince, #108) does not yet. The exact count ticks up every time Supercell adds one, so treat it as "about 104" rather than a fixed number.

What does a Hypercharge actually do? When your Hyper Super activates, you get a flat +5% damage, +5% shield and +20% movement speed aura for a few seconds, plus a unique effect tied to that brawler's Super (bigger blast, extra range, healing, silence, and so on). The unique effect is what separates a great Hypercharge from a filler one.

Which Hypercharge should I unlock first? The best Hypercharge on a brawler you already play. If you main one of Mortis, Surge, Max, R-T or Kit, unlock that first — they're the five most impactful Hypercharges in the current meta. Don't unlock a weak Hypercharge just because the brawler is already Power 11.

How do I get Hypercharges without the Starr Road? Starr Road was retired in Update 69. You now unlock Hypercharges with ~5,000 Coins at Power 11, from Legendary Starr Drops and Chaos Drops (luck-based, so you can't target a specific one), or as a bonus from the new Brawler Blast mini-game when you unlock a brawler with Credits.

Did a new balance patch change Hypercharges in October 2026? No. There's been no October balance pass. The current meta runs on the early-September 2026 update and a September 16 maintenance that adjusted roughly 18 brawlers — Shade was hit hardest, with his Hyper Super losing most of its bonus damage. Season 55 "Brawl-O-Ween" added content (Vince, the #FindGus event), not balance changes.

Can a Hypercharge make a weak brawler good? Sometimes — that's exactly why they're graded on impact. A brawler who's mediocre at base can become a real threat the moment a strong Hypercharge is online (Mortis is the classic case). But a weak Hypercharge won't rescue a weak brawler; it just adds the small shared aura.
