How to Get Koumei in Warframe (2026): Saya's Visions Farm & Fate Pearls

TL;DR — To get Koumei in Warframe, farm Saya's Visions (Shrine Defense) on Earth. Each clear has a 4.09% chance per Koumei blueprint and always pays 14–18 Fate Pearls (20–24 on Steel Path), which buy any missing part at Koumei's Shrine in Cetus. A full no-luck set plus crafting costs 432 Fate Pearls, roughly 27 normal or 20 Steel Path runs. Unlock it by finishing Once Awake and Saya's Vigil, then talking to Saya. Her build takes 24 hours, not 72. Current for Update 44.1 (Iceblade of Narin: The Icebind) and DE's drop tables dated October 7, 2026.

Koumei is the closest Warframe comes to a guaranteed frame farm. She doesn't need a boss key, relic RNG or a weekly rotation, because the same mission that drops her parts also pays a bad-luck currency that buys them. One player in a fresh r/Warframe thread asking for Koumei grinding tips put it bluntly: she "was made to be one of the easiest frames to get in the entire game." That's true, with one catch. The crafting recipe asks for four Plains of Eidolon resources that new players usually don't have yet. Below is the full route, start to finish.

Where does Koumei drop in Warframe?

All four Koumei blueprints come from one place: Saya's Visions, Earth, a Shrine Defense mission. It's DE's own acquisition route, straight from the Update 37 patch notes that introduced her: Koumei's blueprints are on the "New Shrine Defense mission Drop Table," and "Koumei's Blueprint and her Component Blueprints can be exchanged for Fate Pearls (earned from Shrine defense missions) at Koumei's Shrine located in Cetus, Earth."

Each clear gives you one roll on the reward table. Here's the full table as published on DE's official drop tables (last updated October 7, 2026):

RewardChance per clear
450 Endo10.00%
Each of 7 Meso Relics (Y2, V17, D8, V13, A12, D9, C11)6.43% each
Koumei Blueprint4.09%
Koumei Neuroptics Blueprint4.09%
Koumei Chassis Blueprint4.09%
Koumei Systems Blueprint4.09%
Higasa Blueprint, Barrel / Receiver / Stock Blueprints4.09% each
Amanata Blueprint, Blade / Handle Blueprints4.09% each

So the chance that any given run drops some Koumei part is 16.36%, roughly one in six. A specific part averages about one drop every 24 runs. If you relied on drops alone, the last part would be a slog. You don't have to, because of Fate Pearls.

How do Fate Pearls work, and how many do you need?

Every Shrine Defense clear pays Fate Pearls on top of the drop-table roll. That's the guaranteed half of the farm:

  • Normal: 14–18 Fate Pearls per clear
  • Steel Path: 20–24 Fate Pearls per clear
  • Resource Boosters and looting abilities don't affect them. DE fixed this in Hotfix 37.0.1, so don't burn a booster on this farm.

You spend pearls at Koumei's Shrine, the statue right at the Cetus entrance (choose "Offer Fate Pearls"). Here's what Koumei costs there, per the official wiki's Fate Pearl shop and Foundry data:

ItemShop priceAlso needed to craft
Koumei Blueprint165 Fate Pearls30 Fate Pearls
Koumei Neuroptics Blueprint55 Fate Pearls24 Fate Pearls
Koumei Chassis Blueprint55 Fate Pearls24 Fate Pearls
Koumei Systems Blueprint55 Fate Pearls24 Fate Pearls
Total330102

That's 432 Fate Pearls for a fully built Koumei with no lucky drops. Run counts:

  • Normal Shrine Defense: 432 ÷ 16 average ≈ 27 runs (estimate; 24 at best, 31 at worst with zero drops)
  • Steel Path Shrine Defense: 432 ÷ 22 average ≈ 20 runs (estimate; 18 at best, 22 at worst with zero drops)

Every part that drops naturally cuts that down: a component saves you 55 pearls, and the main blueprint saves 165. Most players finish well under the worst case. Don't buy anything until you've done a handful of runs. Spend pearls only on the parts that refuse to drop.

How do you unlock Saya's Visions?

The mission is gated behind two quests. Per DE's Update 37 notes, you must "Complete the Once Awake and Saya's Vigil Quests," then "speak to Saya in Cetus to unlock this game mode."

  • Finish Once Awake. It's an early Star Chart quest, and most players have it done by the time they reach the Plains.
  • Finish Saya's Vigil. This is the Cetus story quest that introduces Saya.
  • Talk to Saya in Cetus and pick the "Saya's Visions" option. If you finished both quests before you knew about Koumei, DE sends you an Inbox message telling you to visit her.
  • Launch your first run from Koumei's Shrine by following the waypoint and choosing "Saya's Visions." DE's notes are explicit: "After completing this mission once, it will become available as a mission node in the Star Chart." From then on you can start it from the Saya's Visions node on Earth or use the Koumei fast-travel option on your Gear wheel.

The Steel Path version needs two things: the Steel Path unlocked, and one normal Shrine Defense clear. After that it appears at the shrine and on the Star Chart node. In Hotfix 37.0.2 DE also removed an old hidden requirement to finish a Steel Path Plains bounty first. If you're not sure whether you have Steel Path, see our Warframe Steel Path guide.

How does Shrine Defense actually work?

The name is misleading, because it doesn't play like regular Defense. The objectives you defend have no health bar and the mission has no fail state, so you can't lose a run, only play it slowly. The loop, per the wiki's Shrine Defense page:

  • Pick up a Koumei's Offering to start.
  • Guard the two Ostron huts. Villagers prepare a new offering every 30 seconds, but the timer pauses while Infested are inside the offering radius. Kill everything near the huts or the clock stops.
  • Carry offerings to the shrine. Each delivery rolls one of Koumei's dice for a 30-second squad buff: invulnerability, life steal, Critical Chance, Heat damage, Sprint/Parkour speed, or Reload and Fire Rate.
  • After 5 offerings, kill Infested equal to 30 × squad size (up to 120) to summon the Infested Oni.
  • Drain the Oni's first health bar. It turns invulnerable, so deliver 2 more offerings to break it, then finish it off for your pearls and the reward roll.

Each clear also grants 800 Ostron Standing (counted against your daily Standing cap since Hotfix 37.0.4). That matters for the crafting step below.

Speed tips that actually save time:

  • Bring Blast or Gas damage. The enemies are Deimos Infested, and they resist Viral.
  • Stockpile offerings before the Oni phase. During the late kill phase, pick offerings up but don't deliver them. Hand them in the moment the Oni's shield objective appears, and you skip two walks to the shrine.
  • Use your Operator as a second pair of hands. If you've done The War Within, your Operator can carry an offering separately from your Warframe, so you can deliver two at once.
  • Kill the Undying Flyer pods. They pause the offering timer like any other enemy.
  • Squad up. The kill count scales with squad size, but so does damage, and four players clear the hut phase much faster. Pearls are paid to everyone.

What resources does Koumei need to craft?

This is the part that catches new players out. Koumei's recipe isn't hard, but it needs Plains of Eidolon materials. Per the wiki's Koumei page and Foundry data:

BlueprintCreditsResourcesBuild time
Neuroptics15,00024 Fate Pearls, 100 Rubedo, 1 Neurodes, 50 Iradite12 h
Chassis15,00024 Fate Pearls, 300 Polymer Bundle, 30 Grokdrul, 10 Esher Devar12 h
Systems15,00024 Fate Pearls, 150 Circuits, 1 Morphics, 10 Tear Azurite12 h
Koumei25,000Neuroptics + Chassis + Systems + 30 Fate Pearls24 h

Crafting subtotal: 70,000 Credits for the frame and components, plus the resources above. Gem refining, mining tools and Standing are extra. Here's where to get the four unusual ones:

  • Iradite: destructible deposits in the low-lying Plains areas (Twin Horns, Seaside Ruin, Hek's Stiletto and others). It's also a Plains bounty reward. Killing Tusk Thumpers drops it in batches.
  • Grokdrul: drums in Grineer camps on the Plains, plus bounty rewards. Higher-level bounties give up to 5 per drum.
  • Tear Azurite: refined from 10 mined Azurite. The reusable blueprint costs 500 Ostron Standing from Old Man Suumbaat at rank Neutral (wiki).
  • Esher Devar: refined from 10 mined Devar. That blueprint costs 2,500 Standing and needs rank Offworlder, which is the "rank up the Ostrons once" step players mention (wiki).

Each refinement yields exactly 10, which is exactly what the recipe needs. The 800 Ostron Standing you earn per Shrine Defense clear goes straight toward buying those gem blueprints, so run the mission first and visit Old Man Suumbaat after. Mining needs a mining tool, which you also buy from Old Man Suumbaat in Cetus.

Rubedo, Polymer Bundle, Circuits, Neurodes and Morphics are standard star-chart resources. If you're short on Credits or Endo for leveling her afterwards, Shrine Defense's own 450 Endo drop helps, and our Endo farming guide covers the rest.

Why is the build only 24 hours? DE did it on purpose. From the Update 37 patch notes: "Since Koumei is earned via the new Shrine Defense game mode, which was designed with a difficulty level appropriate for the early game path … we have made Koumei's crafting time 24 hours instead of the standard 72 hours." Components take 12 hours each and can all build at once, so the total wait from a full set of blueprints is about 36 hours.

Should you also farm Higasa and Amanata?

Koumei's two signature weapons, the Higasa rifle and Amanata polearm, share her drop table and her shop. If you plan to farm them, do it in the same session.

  • Higasa: 135 pearls (blueprint) + 3 × 45 (Barrel, Receiver, Stock) = 270 pearls to buy, plus 47 to craft
  • Amanata: 135 + 3 × 45 (Blade 1, Blade 2, Handle) = 270 pearls to buy, plus 47 to craft

That's 634 more pearls for both weapons, or 1,066 total with Koumei. The shop also sells two Steel Path-gated augments, Higasa Serration and Amanata Pressure (150 pearls each). Every weapon you build adds 3,000 Mastery at rank 30 and Koumei adds 6,000, so this one mission feeds your Mastery Rank progress too.

Is there a faster way to get Koumei?

There are two ways to get her:

  • Farm Saya's Visions (free). About 20–27 runs, fewer with lucky drops. This is the route for almost everyone.
  • Buy her from DE. In the in-game Market she's sold individually or in the Koumei Fate Bundle for Platinum; the wiki lists her alone at 370 Platinum. DE's Koumei Visions Bundle is a separate real-money pack that includes her plus 520 Platinum. Check the Market for the current price and any active discount coupon. Platinum can come from DE's store or from selling your own tradeable items through Warframe's in-game Trading system. Platinum you earn by trading in-game means you never have to spend real money. Our how to trade in Warframe guide covers the MR2 + 2FA requirements.

There's no third route to wait for: no Koumei Prime exists yet. The wiki still lists her under "Warframes without Primes," so there's no Prime Resurgence or relic route.

One warning: you'll see sites offering cheap Platinum or "done-for-you" frame farms. DE's own Trading FAQ & Safe Trading Tips calls third-party Platinum sellers "not legitimate," and its EULA bans secondary markets and leveling services outright. Your account is the collateral. Koumei is too easy a farm to take that risk.

Is Koumei worth farming?

Yes, and not just for the Mastery. Her kit is built around dice rolls, and a perfect roll upgrades each ability:

  • Kumihimo (1): weaves threads across an area that apply random Status Effects.
  • Omikuji (2): sets a challenge that grants a random Decree when you complete it.
  • Omamori (3): summons protective charms that can negate damage while healing her. It's also her Helminth subsume (see our best Helminth abilities list for how it compares).
  • Bunraku (4): binds enemies on puppet strings while they take random statuses.
  • Passive: every 60 seconds, one of her weapons inflicts random Status Effects for 60 seconds.

That status spam pairs well with Galvanized mods and status-scaling weapons. In the same Reddit thread, one player called her their "go to pick for EVERY steel path mission," with the honest caveat that they mostly run 1–3 hour survivals. Treat that as one player's experience, not a ranking. She's a strong, cheap-to-acquire Steel Path option, especially for players who don't yet own the endgame staples in our beginner Warframes guide. If you only want Omamori for Helminth, you'll need a second copy: up to 432 more Fate Pearls with no lucky drops, or 864 for both copies.

FAQ

Where do I get Koumei in Warframe? From the Saya's Visions Shrine Defense mission on Earth. Every clear rolls her blueprints at 4.09% each and pays Fate Pearls, which you can spend at Koumei's Shrine in Cetus to buy any part you're missing.

How many runs does Koumei take? With no lucky drops, 432 Fate Pearls buys and crafts her: about 27 normal runs or about 20 Steel Path runs. Natural drops along the way usually bring that down.

Why can't I find Saya's Visions on my Star Chart? The node only appears after your first clear. Complete Once Awake and Saya's Vigil, speak to Saya in Cetus, and launch the first run from Koumei's Shrine. The Steel Path version also needs one normal clear.

Do Resource Boosters increase Fate Pearls? No. DE made Fate Pearls immune to Resource Boosters and looting abilities in Hotfix 37.0.1, so save your booster for something else.

Where do I get Esher Devar and Tear Azurite for Koumei? Mine Devar and Azurite on the Plains of Eidolon, then refine them with blueprints from Old Man Suumbaat in Cetus: Tear Azurite for 500 Ostron Standing, Esher Devar for 2,500 Standing at the Offworlder rank.

How long does Koumei take to build? Her three components take 12 hours each, and the final frame takes 24 hours instead of the usual 72. That's about 36 hours from a full set of blueprints if you craft the components in parallel.

Is there a Koumei Prime? No. As of Update 44.1, Koumei has no Prime version, so the Shrine Defense farm or the Market are the only ways to get her.
