Reins of the Onyxian Drake Farm

Reins of the Onyxian Drake Farm - WoW Midnight

  • Onyxia 1% Drop
  • Weekly Lockout Runs

Reins of the Onyxian Drake drops from Onyxia, the only boss of Onyxia's Lair, and specifically from the level 80 Cataclysm-era version of the raid rather than the original level 60 one. The drop chance is roughly 1% per kill and the raid sits on a weekly lockout, so each character gets one real attempt every seven days. Run cycles start at $5.39.

How many attempts it honestly takes. At about 1% a kill there is no pity timer and no guaranteed run count: 5 cycles is roughly a 5% cumulative chance, 10 cycles about 10%, and the 25-cycle block about 22%. Community loot samples put the real rate near 1.45%, which nudges those odds up but does not change the shape. That is why this is sold by the attempt, in blocks of 5 for $26.95, 10 for $53.90 and 25 for $134.75.

This is the cheapest legacy mount farm we run, on purpose. Onyxia at level 80 is trivial for a modern max-level booster — a few minutes solo, no group, no attunement, no key chain — so a single attempt costs $5.39 instead of the hundreds a Kael'thas or Lich King farm costs. Low delivery cost is exactly what makes a 1% mount worth grinding.

The drake is account-wide. Retail mounts go into the Mount Journal for the whole account, so once Onyxia finally drops it, every character you own can ride it. The mount is Bind on Pickup, so the kill has to land on your own character — one attempt per character per week, and extra characters are the only honest way to stack more cycles into a single reset.

How it is delivered: piloted by default, or Self-play Remote for 30% more if you want the account to stay on your own machine. Express and Super Express move you up the queue. US realms are the default; EU is on the region switch above. Manual play, no bots, PC only.

Frequently asked questions

  • Reins of the Onyxian Drake drops from Onyxia, the only boss of Onyxia's Lair, in the level 80 Cataclysm-era version of the raid. The original level 60 Onyxia does not drop it. No vendor sells the drake, no quest awards it, and no other boss in the game drops it.

  • Reins of the Onyxian Drake drops from Onyxia at roughly 1% per kill, with community loot samples putting the sampled rate near 1.45%. Onyxia's Lair is on a weekly lockout, so a single character gets one attempt every seven days no matter how many times you enter the instance.

  • There is no fixed answer, because Reins of the Onyxian Drake is a roughly 1% drop on a weekly lockout. Five attempts is about a 5% cumulative chance, ten is about 10%, and twenty-five is about 22%. Farms that finish on the first kill and farms that run past a year are both normal, which is why this is priced per attempt from $5.39 rather than as a guaranteed carry.

  • Yes. Reins of the Onyxian Drake is a retail mount, so once Onyxia drops it the drake is added to your Mount Journal and every character on the account can ride it. The item itself is Bind on Pickup, so the roughly 1% roll has to happen on a character you own — it cannot be looted elsewhere and mailed to you.

  • No. Reins of the Onyxian Drake is Bind on Pickup, so the Onyxia kill and the 1% loot roll both have to happen on your own character. That is why this service is piloted or Self-play Remote and never a delivery. Anyone offering to mail you the drake is describing something the game does not allow.

  • Yes. Reins of the Onyxian Drake farms run on every US realm, PvE and PvP, and US is the default region on this page. Weekly Onyxia attempts are scheduled around your own Tuesday reset in ET or PT, support answers during US business hours, and EU realms are priced on the region switch above.

  • Because Onyxia's Lair is trivial at modern max level. One Reins of the Onyxian Drake attempt takes a booster a few minutes solo, with no group, no attunement and no key chain, so a run cycle is $5.39 and twenty-five cycles are $134.75. Harder legacy mount farms cost hundreds per attempt because the raid behind them actually resists.
