The Fortnite Obsession collab is the latest horror crossover in Fortnitemares 2026, and it finally has a face. Nikki, the character Inde Navarrette plays in Curry Barker's breakout horror film Obsession, was revealed on 20 October 2026. She is set to land in the Item Shop the next evening. This guide covers the release date and time in every major region, all four items in the Obsession set, what the Splatter style actually does, what the bundle is likely to cost, and how the One Wish Willow back bling differs from the One Wish Willow Sprite you may already be chasing. It applies to Fortnite Battle Royale, Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override", on the current v42.40 build.
Quick answer: Epic has dated the Obsession collab for 21 October 2026. Nikki is expected in the Item Shop at the 8 PM ET reset (5 PM PT; 00:00 UTC on 22 October). The set has four items: the Nikki outfit (Epic rarity, Splatter style), the One Wish Willow back bling, the Nikki's Broken Bottle pickaxe and the No No No... emote. Bear is not in it. No price yet; expect about 1,500 V-Bucks for the outfit and ~2,000 for the bundle. No free unlock has been announced.
When does the Obsession collab come to Fortnite?
The date is official. On 19 October, Fortnite's own X account posted a teaser that ended with the line:
"Found the One Wish Willow. Oct. 21." (Fortnite on X, 19 October 2026)
Epic did not give a time, but new collab cosmetics arrive with the daily Item Shop reset, and Polygon and Vice both report Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at 8 PM ET. Epic's teaser did not show what is in the pack; the item list below comes from the game files.
The Fortnite Item Shop resets every day at 00:00 UTC, so the drop lands on 22 October for most of the world. Here is when to check:

|---|---|---|
| US Pacific (PDT) | Wed 21 Oct | 5:00 PM |
| US Eastern (EDT) | Wed 21 Oct | 8:00 PM |

| UK (BST) | Thu 22 Oct | 1:00 AM |
| Central Europe (CEST) | Thu 22 Oct | 2:00 AM |
| Moscow / Istanbul (UTC+3) | Thu 22 Oct | 3:00 AM |

How did we get here?
The collab did not come out of nowhere. Epic's own Fortnitemares 2026 trailer (29 September) showed a One Wish Willow box, with a Capstone Studios copyright credit, the first sign the film was involved. The One Wish Willow Sprite then arrived with update v42.40 on 15 October 2026, and the same update added the Obsession cosmetics to the game files. Leakers decrypted the set the same day, and HYPEX posted the full bundle on 15 October. Epic's 19 October teaser set the date, and on 20 October movie news account DiscussingFilm posted the "exclusive first look" at Nikki in-game. That same day, Epic hotfixed the outfit's description, a sign the item is being readied for sale.
What is in the Fortnite Obsession bundle?
The Fortnite Wiki lists exactly four cosmetics in the Obsession Set, all added in v42.40 (Polygon's reveal lists the same four). Their in-game descriptions nod to the film:
| Item | Type | Rarity | In-game description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nikki | Outfit | Epic | "Be Careful What You Wish For" |
| One Wish Willow | Back Bling | Rare | "You only get one wish." |
| Nikki's Broken Bottle | Pickaxe (single-wield) | Rare | "Don't make her use it." |
| No No No... | Emote | Uncommon | "Don't do that!" |
The outfit's description originally read "Be careful who you wish for..." According to the Fortnite Wiki, Epic changed it with a hotfix on 20 October 2026, the same day as the reveal.
A few details are worth knowing before you buy:
- Nikki has her own lobby idle animation. Leaker HYPEX reported it when the bundle was decrypted, and Polygon notes it recreates Nikki's creepy frown from the film.
- The One Wish Willow back bling reacts to eliminations. Each time you get a kill, it plays the sound effect from the film that you hear whenever a One Wish Willow is opened. The Fortnite Wiki notes it reacts even though the in-game Reactive tag is missing.
- The No No No... emote uses a prop: a hand-lettered "Don't do THAT!" sign. HYPEX reports that it plays a special version when you use it while wearing Nikki. The sign's text also changes to match your game language.
- Bear is not included. Bear (Michael Johnston) is the film's lead, the music-store clerk who makes the wish, and fans on r/obsessionmovie were hoping for him. The leaked set has only one outfit, so the collab is Nikki-only for now.
What does the Nikki Splatter style do?
Nikki has one selectable style, Splatter, which you can toggle Off or On. With Splatter off, she wears the clean version of the red zebra-print top, black cargo shorts and knee-high boots she wears at the party in the film. With Splatter on, dark stains appear across her face and chest.
The stains are black, not red, and that has become the main talking point in the community. In the film, the scene shows real blood. Polygon describes the Fortnite version as applying "soot to Nikki's face to censor the blood shown in the movie." Fortnite's cosmetics generally avoid realistic red blood, so this fits the game's usual approach rather than being a one-off decision. One r/FortNiteBR reaction thread put the complaint plainly:
"if the blood was red it'd be way better. She shoulda had a different edit style as well as actually having the voice for the no, no, no emote." (r/FortNiteBR player, 20 October 2026)
Forbes' Paul Tassi picked up on the same change, headlining his reveal piece "Here's Obsession's Nikki Skin In 'Fortnite' With A Ridiculous Change."
Is the Nikki skin age-restricted?
According to the Fortnite Wiki's item entry, yes. Nikki is flagged as an age-restricted cosmetic. Since update v27.10, every Fortnite experience has an age and content rating. A small set of cosmetics is not compatible with E or E10+ (or the regional equivalent). If you wear Nikki into an island rated below that threshold, other players see a default outfit instead. You still own the skin and it works normally in Battle Royale. Other horror and creature skins such as the Xenomorph and Demogorgon already work this way.
How much will the Nikki skin cost?
Epic has not announced a price, and won't until the shop goes live. Here are the most useful reference points:
- Fortnite's historical rarity pricing (a guide, not a rule): an Epic-rarity outfit has usually been priced at 1,500 V-Bucks. A Rare pickaxe usually costs 800 V-Bucks, and an Uncommon emote around 200 V-Bucks.
- Recent Fortnitemares precedent: the Lady Liberty outfit from The Purge went on sale on 18 October at 1,500 V-Bucks with her back bling included. The full Purge Bundle cost 2,000 V-Bucks.
- Outlet estimates: Vice estimates 1,500 V-Bucks for Nikki and 1,600–2,000 V-Bucks for the bundle. In a price-prediction thread, most player guesses fell between 1,500 and 2,000 V-Bucks for the full set.
Our read: 1,500 V-Bucks for Nikki (probably with One Wish Willow included), and around 2,000 for the bundle. Treat both as estimates until the shop refreshes. This article will be updated with the real numbers.
What does that cost in real money?
The V-Bucks prices went up in March 2026 (Epic's repricing notice). The $8.99 pack now gives 800 V-Bucks (it used to be 1,000), and the $22.99 pack gives 2,400. A 1,500 V-Bucks outfit therefore needs either two $8.99 packs (1,600 V-Bucks, $17.98) or the $22.99 pack, which also covers a 2,000 V-Bucks bundle. The Fortnite Crew ($11.99/month) adds 800 V-Bucks a month, so a subscriber with some V-Bucks left over may not need to top up at all.
Can you get the Obsession skin for free?
Not as of 20 October. Nikki is an Item Shop collab, and nothing announced so far unlocks her for free:
- No cup: the Slender Man got a one-day tournament (see how the Slender Man Cup worked), but no Obsession cup is on Epic's competitive schedule.
- No quest reward: the free Fortnitemares rewards come from the Nitemare quests (our Fortnitemares 2026 free rewards guide lists every one). Nikki is not among them.
- No code: ignore any "free Nikki skin code" or "free V-Bucks" offer. Epic's own support guidance is that real offers only appear in the Epic Games Store or on official Epic sites and channels. Sites promising free skins or V-Bucks are a common way to steal Epic logins.
The only Obsession item you can earn just by playing is the One Wish Willow Sprite, and that is a different thing entirely (see below).
One Wish Willow back bling vs One Wish Willow Sprite: what's the difference?
This is the most common confusion on Reddit this week, because both items share the same name.
| One Wish Willow (Sprite) | One Wish Willow (Back Bling) | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An in-match collectible Sprite (Mythic) | A cosmetic you wear |
| Added | v42.40, 15 October 2026 | v42.40 files, sold from ~21 October |
| How to get it | Found in matches: Pumpkin Chests, Cheat Codes, chests | Item Shop only (V-Bucks) |
| Gameplay effect | Yes. Steals the Sprites of players you eliminate | None. Plays a sound on eliminations |
| After the season | Sprite future unconfirmed | Yours permanently |
If you're hunting the Sprite, our One Wish Willow Sprite guide covers spawn odds and all six variants. Buying the back bling does not give you the Sprite, and owning the Sprite does not unlock the back bling.
How long will Nikki stay in the Item Shop?
Epic has not said. Collab sets often stay in the shop for several days to about a week before they rotate out, but there is no fixed rule. Fortnitemares itself ends with Chapter 7 Season 4, which Epic's Battle Pass page lists as ending 1 November 2026 (Eastern Time). Halloween collabs often sit in the shop for the last stretch of the event, but that is a pattern, not a promise. If you want Nikki, the safest move is to buy her in the first few days.
Some outlets give the end date as 31 October; that is most likely the same season-ending downtime described in a different time zone. Go by Epic's page. Our Fortnitemares 2026 end date guide explains what resets when the season ends.
Remember the refund rules too. If you buy Nikki and change your mind, you can cancel the purchase within 24 hours as long as you haven't used or equipped her. After that, you would need one of your limited Return Tickets (Epic's returns page has the details). Returns pay out in V-Bucks, never cash.
What is Obsession, and why is it in Fortnite?
Obsession is a supernatural horror film written, directed and edited by Curry Barker. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 5 September 2025, and Focus Features released it in US theaters on 15 May 2026. It follows Bear, a music-store clerk who uses a cheap novelty toy, the One Wish Willow, to make his friend and longtime crush Nikki fall in love with him. The wish works far too well, in a "monkey's paw" way. Inde Navarrette plays Nikki. Her performance, and the "No, no, no, don't do that" scene the emote references, turned into one of the year's biggest horror memes.
The film was also a huge box-office story. It was shot for about $750,000 and grossed roughly $520 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing horror films ever (Wikipedia's box-office figures; Shacknews reports "over $500 million"). That explains the fast turnaround. Forbes notes how unusual it is for a film released in May to get a Fortnite skin by October, and compares it to the KPop Demon Hunters collab after that film took off on Netflix. Obsession has been streaming on Peacock since 17 July 2026, and Polygon reports a Netflix release in November.
Nikki joins a long Fortnitemares 2026 horror lineup that already includes Freddy Krueger, Five Nights at Freddy's, The Purge, Slender Man and Hazbin Hotel. Our Fortnitemares 2026 skins roundup covers the rest of the event.
Is the Nikki skin worth buying?
That depends on whether you've seen the film. Here is the honest case for and against, based on the first day of reactions:
Buy it if:
- You're a fan of Obsession. The set is full of references (the broken bottle, the Willow box, the "Don't do THAT!" sign) that only make sense if you know the film.
- You want a realistic-style skin with a creepy lobby idle. Few skins in the shop do that.
- You like reactive back blings. The elimination sound effect is a nice touch.
Skip it if:
- You want a flashy, "sweaty" competitive skin. One recurring complaint in the reaction thread is that she is "just a woman," because what makes Nikki scary in the film is the camerawork, which doesn't carry into a third-person shooter.
- You wanted the voice line. Some players in the reaction thread say the emote is missing Nikki's actual line from the film.
- You wanted red blood. The Splatter style is censored to black.
FAQ
When does the Obsession skin come out in Fortnite? Epic dated the Obsession collab for 21 October 2026. Nikki is expected in the Item Shop at the 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT reset, which is 00:00 UTC on Thursday, 22 October.
Who is the Fortnite Obsession skin? The skin is Nikki Freeman, played by Inde Navarrette in Curry Barker's horror film Obsession (in theaters May 2026). She is the only outfit in the collab, and Bear is not included.
Why is the blood black on the Nikki skin? The Splatter style uses dark soot-like stains instead of red blood, which Polygon describes as censoring the blood from the film. Fortnite keeps its cosmetics blood-free.
How much is the Nikki bundle in Fortnite? Epic has not confirmed a price. Based on Epic-rarity pricing and recent Fortnitemares collabs, expect about 1,500 V-Bucks for the outfit and around 2,000 V-Bucks for the full four-item bundle.
Is the One Wish Willow back bling the same as the Sprite? No. The Sprite is a free in-match collectible with a gameplay effect, added on 15 October 2026. The back bling is a paid Item Shop cosmetic that only plays a sound on eliminations.
Can I get the Nikki skin for free? Not as of 20 October 2026. No Obsession cup, quest reward or code has been announced, and sites offering a free Nikki skin or free V-Bucks are a common account-theft scam.
