The Fortnite Slender Man skin is the latest Fortnitemares 2026 collab, and today is the one day you can get it without spending V-Bucks. Epic is running the Slender Man Cup on Tuesday, 20 October 2026. If you place high enough in your region, you get the Slender Man outfit and the Tentacles of the Slender Man back bling for free, before the set goes on sale. If you only score a few points, you still get a free spray. This guide covers the cup format, the placement you need in every region, how the spray works, what the skin looks like, and when the set should reach the Item Shop. It applies to Fortnite Battle Royale, Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override", on the current v42.40 build.

Quick answer: Play the Slender Man Cup on 20 October 2026 from the Compete tab. PC and console players compete in Reload Duos (Battle Royale or Zero Build); mobile players have a separate Slender Man Mobile Cup in Reload Solos. Finish inside your region's cut-off (reported as top 500 duos in EU and top 350 in NA Central for the Battle Royale bracket) to unlock the Slender Man outfit and back bling. Score 8 points in the PC/console cup, or 5 points in the mobile cup, to unlock The Slender Man Was Here spray. Missed it? The set is expected in the Item Shop shortly after the cup, possibly as early as the next daily reset, with outlets and players pointing to Thursday 22 October. The outfit is estimated at 1,500 V-Bucks. Epic has not confirmed the shop date or the price yet.

When is the Fortnite Slender Man Cup?

The Slender Man Cup runs on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, one day only. Epic teased it on 19 October with this post:

"You'll be playing the Slender Man Cup with your duo tomorrow. He'll be watching. He's always watching." (Fortnite on X, 19 October 2026)

Epic's own competitive schedule on fortnite.com lists three Slender Man events for the day:

EventModeTeam sizePlatform
Slender Man Cup ReloadReload (Battle Royale)DuosPC and console
Slender Man Cup Zero Build ReloadReload (Zero Build)DuosPC and console
Slender Man Mobile CupReloadSolosMobile

Start times are staggered by region. On Epic's schedule each PC/console Reload session (EU and NA Central) runs a 2.5-hour window, and the mobile cup runs 75 minutes. For North America, Beebom reports the mobile cup starting at 12 PM ET with a cap of 8 matches, and the PC/console cup starting at 1 PM ET with a cap of 12 matches, an hour after mobile, which matches the order on Epic's listing. Times differ between regions, so check the event card in the Compete tab. It shows the start time in your own time zone and tells you whether your account is eligible.

How do you get the Slender Man skin for free?

You have to finish high enough in your region's leaderboard. The cup is not "play and get it." The outfit and back bling go only to the top of each regional leaderboard. Everyone else who reaches the points target gets the spray.

Here are the reported cut-offs. These numbers come from Beebom's breakdown of the in-game event card, and Allthings.how reports the same EU and Middle East cut-offs. Re-check them on the card itself before you queue, because Epic sometimes edits them on the day.

AsiaTop 50Top 30
Middle East (ME)Top 50Top 30

*Beebom labels this column "Reload"; it matches the mobile bracket, the only solos Slender Man cup.

In the duos cup, the placement is your team's placement. If your duo finishes inside the cut-off, both of you get the skin.

Epic ran the same cup-then-shop pattern a few days ago for The Purge collab. The Lady Liberty Cup on 17 October 2026 was a different format (Solo Battle Royale and Solo Zero Build, with larger cut-offs), but the Fortnite Wiki records that Lady Liberty went on sale in the Item Shop the very next day, 18 October, for 1,500 V-Bucks (outfit plus its back bling), or 2,000 V-Bucks for The Purge Bundle, which adds a pickaxe, an emote and a wrap. That's the closest guide to how today's shop release will work.

Do you need anything to enter?

Epic's standard rules for its cups apply: you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country), and you need multi-factor authentication (2FA) turned on for your Epic account. Epic requires 2FA for competitive events, so turn it on well before your window opens. Some Epic cups also have an account-level or rank requirement. The event card lists any extra requirement, so read it before your session starts.

What do you get from the Slender Man Cup?

There are two reward tiers.

Placement reward (top of your region):

  • The Slender Man — Epic-rarity outfit
  • Tentacles of the Slender Man — Rare back bling

Points reward (everyone who hits the target):

  • The Slender Man Was Here — Uncommon spray, unlocked at 8 points in the PC/console Reload Duos cup, or 5 points in the Mobile Cup

The Slender Man Was Here spray in Fortnite, the points reward from the Slender Man Cup

Eight points is a low bar in a Reload cup. You get points for placement and for eliminations, so a handful of decent finishes across your matches should get you there. If you only want the spray, that's realistic for almost any player. The skin is a real competitive ask in the smaller regions. Top 50 in Oceania or Asia means out-scoring almost everyone in the region.

One thing players keep asking on r/FortNiteBR is whether Slender Man will be "locked behind competitive." He won't. The top reply on that thread gets it right: these cups "mean you get a chance to get it for free before it hits the shop if you placed high." The cup is early, free access. It is not the only way to get the skin.

What does the Slender Man skin look like?

The Slender Man outfit in Fortnite, locker preview of the Epic-rarity skin added in v42.40

The outfit is Slender Man as most people picture him: very tall, black suit, white shirt, black tie, long clawed fingers and a blank, featureless face. According to the Fortnite Wiki entry for The Slender Man, it's an Epic-rarity outfit that was added to the game files in Update v42.40 (15 October 2026), and it has one selectable style:

  • Defined Face — Off / On. The default is the smooth, blank head. "On" adds faint facial contours to the same pale head.

The in-game descriptions are short and in character:

ItemTypeRarityIn-game description
The Slender ManOutfitEpic"Be careful in the forest."
Tentacles of the Slender ManBack BlingRare"Ensnare their attention."
The Slender Man Was HereSprayUncommon"Leave your mark."

The back bling is elimination-reactive, according to the wiki: it reacts when you get a kill. Players will want that for clips.

Beebom and Allthings.how also list a fourth item, the Slender Tendrils pickaxe, as a shop-only part of the set (Beebom estimates 800 V-Bucks). The Fortnite Wiki's set category still showed only the three items above on 20 October, so expect the pickaxe in the shop listing. Either way, it isn't a cup reward at any placement.

Slender Man started as an internet creepypasta. He was first posted to the Something Awful forums in 2009 and became a gaming staple through the 2012 indie horror game Slender: The Eight Pages. Epic's Fortnitemares credits name Mythology Holdings, LLC as the rights holder, so this is a properly licensed collab, not a lookalike skin.

When does the Slender Man skin come to the Item Shop?

Expected: shortly after the cup, as early as the next daily reset, with Thursday 22 October 2026 the most-cited date. Epic hasn't confirmed this.

Here is what we know:

  • Epic's Fortnitemares 2026 update text lists Slender Man among the collabs whose "Outfits and accessories follow throughout October." So Epic has confirmed the set arrives in October, though not the exact shop date.
  • The Lady Liberty precedent (cup 17 October, shop 18 October) points to a release within a day or two of the cup.
  • Several outlets and r/FortNiteBR players point to Thursday. One reply on today's thread says flatly: "he'll be available in the shop Thursday." That's a community claim, not an Epic announcement.

The Item Shop resets every day at 00:00 UTC (8 PM ET the evening before). The earliest realistic slot is the reset right after the cup (8 PM ET on 20 October). If he's in Thursday's shop instead, he'll show up at the reset on the night of Wednesday 21 October in the Americas. Our Item Shop reset time and refunds guide has the conversion for every time zone.

How much will the Slender Man skin cost?

Expected: about 1,500 V-Bucks for the outfit. Epic hasn't posted a price.

The estimate is based on precedent. Lady Liberty, an Epic-rarity collab outfit released through the same cup-then-shop pattern a few days earlier, sells for 1,500 V-Bucks with its back bling, or 2,000 V-Bucks in the full Purge Bundle. Beebom expects the Slender Man bundle at ~2,000 V-Bucks, with the outfit at 1,500, the back bling at 500, the pickaxe at 800 and the spray at 300. Treat every number as an estimate until the shop listing is live.

For context, since the March 2026 V-Bucks repricing, 800 V-Bucks costs $8.99 and 2,400 V-Bucks costs $22.99 in the US. A 1,500-V-Bucks outfit costs more than the smallest pack gives you. If you don't place in the cup, collab skins also come back: licensed Fortnitemares outfits have often returned to the shop in later Halloween events, so there's no need to panic-buy on day one.

Scam warning: any site, video or Discord server offering a "free Slender Man skin code" or "free V-Bucks to buy Slender Man" is a scam. Epic does not hand out free V-Bucks codes through third-party sites, videos or Discord servers. The only free route is the cup, and it's paid out automatically to your account. You never enter a code for it.

How do you give yourself the best shot in the Slender Man Cup?

The cup is played in Reload, not standard Battle Royale. That changes how you should play:

  • Warm up in Reload first. Reload uses its own smaller map and loot pool. If you've only played the main Override island this season, play two or three public Reload matches before your session starts.
  • Don't throw early fights. In Reload you come back into the match while your teammate is still alive, until respawns switch off late in the game. That makes early fights cheap, but a full team wipe ends that match, so keep your duo together.
  • Play for placement, take safe eliminations. Placement points stack across every match you play. Consistent top finishes beat one high-kill game with three early exits.
  • Use all your matches. You get a fixed number of games in the window (reported as 12 for the NA duos cup). The score from every game counts, so play out the whole session.
  • Check the event card when you finish. The card shows your current points and leaderboard rank. Rewards are granted after Epic finalises the leaderboard, which can take several days, not the moment your session ends.

If you're still finishing the season's free cosmetics as well, our Fortnitemares 2026 quests and free rewards guide lists everything that's still claimable.

How long is Fortnitemares 2026 running?

Fortnitemares 2026 began with v42.30 on 1 October and ends at the season rollover on 31 October / 1 November 2026, when Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" also ends. Epic's Battle Pass page lists the season end as "Ends November 1, 2026 Eastern Time"; the downtime straddles midnight, which is why both dates appear. That gives Epic a little over a week to put Slender Man and the other remaining October collabs in the shop. See our Fortnitemares 2026 end date guide for what to finish before then, and our Fortnitemares 2026 skins round-up for every other collab this event.
