Quick answer (19 October 2026, Patch 2.2.16a, Season 42 "Starward Decade"): Our recommended default Obsidia build right now is the crit line: Swift Boots → Windtalker → Haas' Claws → Berserker's Fury → Malefic Gun → a defensive sixth item (Wind of Nature, Rose Gold Meteor or Sea Halberd depending on the enemy). Run the Marksman emblem with Swift, Weapon Master and Quantum Charge, take Inspire (or Aegis into heavy dive), and play her in the Gold Lane. If your team needs a tank-breaker, swap to the Trinity line (Corrosion Scythe + Demon Hunter Sword + Golden Staff). Obsidia is S-tier with a 53.67% ranked win rate and a 20.92% ban rate on mlbbhub's live Patch 2.2.16a data.
Is Obsidia good in Season 42?
Yes — Obsidia is one of the strongest marksmen you can pick in October 2026. On mlbbhub's ranked data for Patch 2.2.16a (fetched 19 October 2026) she sits in S-tier with a 53.67% win rate, a 2.21% pick rate and a 20.92% ban rate. She is also one of only 13 S-tier heroes on the current Mobile Legends tier list.
What makes those numbers interesting is how they move with rank. The higher you climb, the more players respect her:
| Rank bracket | Win rate | Pick rate | Ban rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Epic | 52.09% | 0.98% | 6.71% |
| Legend | 53.72% | 1.59% | 15.17% |
| Mythic | 53.84% | 2.36% | 26.52% |
| Mythical Honor | 53.60% | 3.06% | 32.33% |
| Mythical Glory+ | 52.99% | 3.63% | 36.91% |
Her win rate stays above 52% in every bracket, while her ban rate climbs from under 7% in Epic to almost 37% in Mythical Glory. In high Mythic, expect her to be banned in more than one draft out of three. If she gets through, take her.
Two things matter for context. First, Obsidia was not touched in Patch 2.2.16 or Patch 2.2.16a — the Season 42 notes and the 14 October hotfix (Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela and Kalea) leave her alone (see our MLBB patch notes breakdown). Her current kit dates from Patch 2.1.95a (26 August 2026). Second, she is still a young hero: she released on 17 September 2025 in Patch 2.1.18, per Liquipedia's hero page, and has already been through several balance passes.
How does Obsidia's kit work?
You cannot build Obsidia properly without understanding her passive, Return to Bone, because every item choice is about feeding it. Her abilities below are paraphrased from the official in-game descriptions as mirrored on mlbbhub and Liquipedia.
Passive — Return to Bone. Obsidia gains Bone Energy whenever she deals damage. Basic attacks give 1 Energy against non-hero units and 2 against heroes or turrets; skills give three times that. Creeps give nothing. Every 30 Energy forms a Bone Shard, up to 25 shards, and killing an enemy hero grants one shard instantly. Each time she basic-attacks, every shard she owns strikes the target for 6% of her Total Physical Attack and inherits 6% of attack effects.
Do the maths and the scaling is obvious. At the 25-shard cap, the shards alone add 150% Total Physical Attack to every basic attack, on top of her normal hit of 70 (+70% Total Physical Attack). That is why Obsidia is a stacking hero: she is weak with 3 shards and a monster with 20.
Skill 1 — Abyssal Bone Needle. A skillshot dealing 325 (+80% Total Physical Attack) to everything it hits, on a 4.5-second base cooldown that drops to 3.0 seconds at max rank. It also procs Return to Bone on the first hero struck. Because skills give triple Energy, this is your main stacking tool in lane.
Skill 2 — Phantom Shadowmeld. A short burst of 500% movement speed for 0.3 seconds. Think of it as a mini-blink for spacing, dodging skillshots and resetting your basic-attack position.
Ultimate — Hunt of Bone. Fires Bones of Wrath that stun the first enemy hero hit and pull Obsidia to them, then tethers her within 4 units for 3 seconds. While tethered, the enemy cannot use mobility skills, Obsidia can walk through walls and attack while moving, Shadowmeld lasts 1 second at a third of its cooldown, and she gains 5 temporary Bone Shards plus a shield of 200 (+25 per Bone Shard stack).
That last part is new. In Patch 2.1.95a Moonton removed the ultimate's 30% attack speed bonus and replaced it with the shield. The official patch note explained why (Liquipedia's transcription): "To improve her weak early-to-mid game performance as a Marksman, we've increased her Attack Speed Growth and allowed Turrets to trigger her Passive. We've also changed the Ultimate's on-hit bonus from Attack Speed to a shield to enhance her survivability." (Liquipedia, Patch 2.1.95a). Attack Speed Growth went from 1% to 1.5%, and turret hits now build Energy — which is why pushing is part of how you stack her.
What is the best Obsidia build?
There is no first-party "best build", so we cross-checked two data sources. mlbb.io's community aggregate (14 Obsidia builds submitted between 23 July and 11 October 2026) and mlbbhub's curated loadouts agree on the emblem and on attack speed as the backbone. They disagree on the item core, so here are both.
Build 1: Crit and attack speed (our default)
This is the line the community sample leans towards. Of the 14 builds submitted to mlbb.io (which records how often players run an item, not win rates), Windtalker appears in 10 of 14 builds, Berserker's Fury in 10 of 14, Haas' Claws in 9 of 14 and Malefic Gun in 9 of 14.
- Swift Boots — attack speed from minute one.
- Windtalker — your first power spike: attack speed and movement speed for kiting.
- Haas' Claws — crit and lifesteal, so you survive the trades your shards win.
- Berserker's Fury — crit damage; this is where full-shard basic attacks start deleting squishies.
- Malefic Gun — range and penetration for late teamfights.
- Flex slot — Wind of Nature, Rose Gold Meteor or Sea Halberd (see below).
Popularity is not proof of win rate, and mlbbhub's curated sets lead with Trinity instead. We default to crit because the lifesteal from Haas' Claws covers her weak early game, and it is our pick when your team already has a tank to stand behind.
Build 2: Trinity tank-breaker
mlbbhub's curated "Front-to-Back Anti-Tank" set builds around the classic Trinity core:
- Swift Boots
- Corrosion Scythe
- Demon Hunter Sword
- Golden Staff
- Sea Halberd
- Malefic Roar
It works because each Bone Shard inherits 6% of attack effects — so on-hit items get multiplied by your shard count. Since Patch 2.1.61, Bone Shard speed also scales with attack speed (15–45, capped at 5.0 attack speed), the change Moonton made specifically to make attack-speed builds viable. Pick Trinity into two or more tanks or HP-stacking fighters. One caveat: mlbbhub flags its own curated sets as built on Patch 2.1.67 and last reviewed on 13 May 2026, so treat the item order as a template, not gospel.
Defensive sixth item: which one?
- Wind of Nature — a few seconds of physical-damage immunity, for when a physical diver (Benedetta, Lancelot, Hayabusa) reaches you before your ultimate does.
- Rose Gold Meteor — a low-HP lifeline shield that buys time against burst, especially magic burst like Odette, Eudora or Kagura.
- Sea Halberd — a situational anti-heal pick rather than a pure defensive item, for Estes, Floryn or heavy-lifesteal comps. mlbb.io lists it in 21% of builds as the anti-healing swap.
The attack-speed lag warning
One recurring player complaint is worth knowing. A thread on r/MobileLegendsGame on 18 October 2026 asked why Obsidia causes severe lag on attack-speed builds, and an Obsidia main replied: "yes, i main obsidia and this is the sole reason why i don't use speed build". A full attack-speed build means up to 25 shards firing on every attack, which is a lot of projectiles. We could not confirm the cause and it is not a gameplay mechanic. But if your phone struggles in late teamfights, the crit build — fewer attacks, bigger hits — is the safer choice.
What emblem and battle spell does Obsidia use?
Emblem: Marksman. It was the pick in 10 of 14 community builds on mlbb.io, and every mlbbhub loadout uses it. Talents:
- Swift (7 of 14 builds) — attack speed, which feeds shard speed.
- Weapon Master (5 of 14) — more attack from items and emblem.
- Quantum Charge (9 of 14) — basic attacks give HP regen and a burst of movement speed. It's the best core talent for a kiting marksman.
For the full talent tree, see our Mobile Legends emblem guide.
Battle spell: Inspire (43% of builds) for raw attack-speed burst during your ultimate's tether window. Aegis (21%) is the backup when the enemy has three divers and you keep dying first. Flicker is fine if you want an extra escape on top of Shadowmeld. Our battle spells guide compares all three.
What is the best Obsidia skill order and combo?
Skill order: take the ultimate at every level it unlocks, put your remaining points into Skill 1 (Abyssal Bone Needle) first, then Skill 2. Skill 1 is your damage, and since skills grant triple Bone Energy it's also how you stack shards fastest. Its cooldown falls from 4.5s to 3.0s as you rank it.
Laning combo: Skill 1 the enemy marksman (6 Energy on a hero hit) → basic attack → Shadowmeld back out of range. Repeat every cooldown. Hit the turret whenever the wave allows — turret attacks have counted towards Energy since 2.1.95a.
Teamfight combo: poke with Skill 1 and basic attacks from the back line → wait for the enemy to burn their dashes → Hunt of Bone onto the carry → attack while moving during the 3-second tether (your target cannot dash away) → use the shortened Shadowmeld to stay on them or escape → clean up with full-shard basic attacks.
The key rule: do not open with your ultimate. It pulls you into the enemy. Use it as a finisher once the enemy's crowd control is down.
Who counters Obsidia, and who does she counter?
From mlbbhub's measured ranked matchups on Patch 2.2.16a (win-rate edge in percentage points):
| Counters Obsidia | Edge | Obsidia beats | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Baxia | +3.45 | Benedetta | +3.07 |
| Miya | +2.75 | Helcurt | +2.71 |
| Odette | +2.49 | Aldous | +2.19 |
| Bruno | +2.19 | Fanny | +1.82 |
| Estes | +2.03 | Hanzo | +1.75 |
These edges are statistical associations, but the kit explains most of them. Her ultimate shuts down mobility, so dash-reliant assassins (Benedetta, Fanny, Helcurt, and per mlbbhub also Hayabusa, Freya and Lancelot) struggle against her. Her bad matchups are lane pressure, long games and sustain: mlbbhub describes Bruno as a strong early-game marksman she struggles to lane against, Miya's edge shows up in longer games, Odette bursts her in teamfights, and Baxia and Estes out-sustain her chip damage. If you are the one facing Obsidia, our Miya build is a measured answer.
Best partners, per mlbbhub's synergy notes: Angela and Estes, supports who keep her alive through the weak early game. For other Gold Lane options, see our best Gold Lane heroes for Season 42.
Is Obsidia good in the pro scene?
Yes — a player asked exactly this on r/MobileLegendsGame on 19 October 2026. The cleanest recent data is the 2026 Asian Games MLBB tournament, whose final was played on 1 October 2026. According to Liquipedia's tournament statistics, Obsidia was picked 15 times, won 9 of those (60.00%), and was picked or banned in 65.63% of games. National teams treated her as a priority marksman.
She has highlight-reel moments too. Liquipedia's player page notes that Indonesian Gold Laner Arfy became "the second player to record two Savage plays in a single game during an official Moonton-sanctioned tournament, achieving the feat with Obsidia at MPL ID S17." Pro results span several patches, so read them as proof of her ceiling, not as a Patch 2.2.16a stat.
How do you climb with Obsidia?
- Farm shards, not kills. Every 30 Energy is permanent damage. Hitting heroes and turrets matters more than chasing a risky kill at level 3.
- Respect early lanes. She starts with no shards, and lane bullies like Bruno punish that, so play safe until your first core item.
- Fight around objectives after 10 minutes. With 15+ shards, one tether usually wins the fight.
- Hold the ultimate for divers. It is your counter to Hayabusa, Lancelot or Fanny — not just an engage.

FAQ
What is the best build for Obsidia in Mobile Legends? As of Patch 2.2.16a (October 2026), our recommended default — the line most of mlbb.io's 14 community builds lean towards — is Swift Boots, Windtalker, Haas' Claws, Berserker's Fury and Malefic Gun, plus a defensive sixth item. Into tanks, switch to the Trinity core: Corrosion Scythe, Demon Hunter Sword and Golden Staff.
Is Obsidia a good marksman? Yes. She is S-tier on mlbbhub's Patch 2.2.16a ranked data with a 53.67% win rate, and her ban rate reaches 36.91% in Mythical Glory+.
What emblem should Obsidia use? The Marksman emblem with Swift, Weapon Master and Quantum Charge. It appears in 10 of 14 community builds on mlbb.io.
Who counters Obsidia? On mlbbhub's measured matchups: Baxia, Miya, Odette, Bruno and Estes. Strong-laning marksmen, burst mages and sustain heroes give her the most trouble.
Why does Obsidia lag with an attack-speed build? Players report frame drops in late fights when Obsidia attacks very fast with many Bone Shards. It's a performance issue, not a mechanic. If it affects your device, use the crit build instead.
When was Obsidia released and last changed? She was released on 17 September 2025 (Patch 2.1.18). Her last balance change was Patch 2.1.95a on 26 August 2026, which buffed her attack speed growth and replaced the ultimate's attack speed with a shield. Patches 2.2.16 and 2.2.16a did not change her.
Data current as of 19 October 2026 (Patch 2.2.16a, Season 42). Win rates come from mlbbhub's live ranked window and change daily. Check the tracker after the next patch.
