If you just started Once Human on PS5 or Xbox and someone told you "the servers wipe every six weeks," ignore them — that advice is from 2024 and it is wrong in 2026. The short version: seasonal servers eventually stop and roll into a permanent world; permanent (no-wipe) servers never reset at all; and even when a scenario "ends," you keep almost everything that matters. This guide explains exactly what wipes, what doesn't, and how to pick a server so you never lose progress you cared about — written for the wave of new console players who joined after the August 25, 2026 (11:00 PT / August 26 in EU and Asia) launch on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X/S.
Quick answer: do Once Human servers wipe?
Only if you choose a seasonal server — and even then it is not a true wipe. Here is the whole model in five lines:
- Seasonal servers run a scenario for roughly 63–68 days, advancing through numbered phases, then finish in a 4-week settlement phase.
- When that settlement phase ends, your character is automatically merged into the matching permanent server — your account, blueprints, cosmetics and progress come with you.
- Permanent (no-wipe) servers only ever have the settlement phase, and it never ends. No reset, ever.
- What actually "resets" is your in-world level, map discovery and base placement — not your unlocks. You keep blueprints, Mods, story progress and your main currencies.
- There is no global "Season 5" clock. Every server runs its own phase timer, and opening days differ by region.
So when the game menu talks about a server "ending," think "this world will be converted and my stuff moves with me," not "I'm about to lose my account."
Why the "wipes every six weeks" myth won't die
The six-week wipe idea comes from launch-era 2024 coverage, before Starry Studio (the developer, published with NetEase Games) added permanent servers. That change landed in the May 30, 2025 official update "What Are Permanent Scenario Servers?", which states it plainly:
"Servers whose scenarios have reached the settlement phase are automatically converted into non-shutdown servers, also known as permanent scenario servers. Unlike regular scenarios, permanent scenario servers only have one phase."
— Once Human official update, May 30, 2025
Most of the guide corpus ranking today was written for a Steam player in 2024–25 and never got updated. New console players read those pages, panic about losing everything, and bounce. On Reddit right now you can watch it happen in real time — a common console post reads some version of "I wanna start playing but I'm pretty lost on the server aspect." The mechanic is genuinely confusing; it is also genuinely forgiving once you understand it.
What a "scenario" actually is (and why it isn't a "season")
This is the single thing most guides get wrong, so it is worth 30 seconds.
A scenario is a themed world with its own map, rules, Memetics and goals — for example Manibus (the flagship PvE scenario), The Way of Winter (snow map), Endless Dream, Evolution's Call (PvP) and Prismverse's Clash (PvP). You don't "join Season 3"; you sign up for a server that is running a scenario.
That server then advances through numbered phases on a fixed calendar. The final phase is the settlement phase, where the world stops advancing and you decide what to do next. The official "About Seasons and Scenarios" dev blog describes a 4-week settlement phase and a cadence of roughly four new scenarios per year.
Because each server has its own phase clock — and because opening days are staggered by region (NA, EU, SEA, SA, HK-MO-TW, JP-KR) — there is no single worldwide "current season." Anyone printing a global season date table is guessing.
How long is a seasonal server before it settles?
Phase lengths vary by scenario. From the official Scenario Phase Adjustments notice, the published durations look like this:
| Scenario | Phase lengths (days) | Total before settlement wrap |
|---|---|---|
| Manibus (Novice) | 4 / 6 / 6 / 12 / 12 / 28 | ~68 days |
| Manibus (non-Novice) | 4 / 6 / 14 / 16 / 28 | ~68 days |
| The Way of Winter | 5 / 5 / 10 / 15 / 28 | ~63 days |
| Evolution's Call | 6 / 7 / 7 / 10 / 10 / 28 | ~68 days |
Safe rule of thumb: a scenario run is roughly 9–10 weeks, ending in a 4-week settlement phase. These specific tables come from a 2025 adjustment notice and phase timers have been tuned since, so treat the totals as approximate. What does not change is the shape: several short early phases, a couple of long mid phases, then the 28-day settlement.
Seasonal vs permanent servers: which should a new player pick?
Here is the practical comparison.
| Seasonal server | Permanent (no-wipe) server | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | ~63–68 days, then settles | Open indefinitely — never resets |
| Fresh economy | Yes — everyone starts together | No — established world |
| Gets new content | New regions, crisis events, Memetics, season goals | No — only cosmetics, balance changes and bug fixes |
| Best for | Players who want the full progression arc and competitive footing | Players who want to build and keep a base without a clock |
| Available scenarios | All current scenarios | Manibus, Evolution's Call, Prismverse's Clash, The Way of Winter |
If you are a brand-new console player and you just want to explore and build, a permanent server is the low-stress choice — nothing you make there is on a timer. If you want the intended experience — the escalating phases, the season goals, a level playing field — start a fresh seasonal Manibus run; when it settles, your character rolls into the permanent Manibus world automatically.
One catch worth writing on your hand: you must log in at least once every 30 days to keep your character on a permanent server. Low-population permanent servers are periodically merged with others running the same scenario, so long absences can move your world.
What carries over when a scenario ends — and what resets
This is the part that turns "the server is wiping!" panic into a shrug. When a scenario finishes and you move on, Once Human splits your stuff into three buckets.
Kept permanently (follows your account)
- Character name, appearance and cosmetics
- Weapon and armor blueprints and their star ratings, blueprint fragments, weapon accessories, and Mods
- House blueprints and learned furniture formulas (except those unlocked via Memetics)
- Battle Pass and task progress, plus Main Story and Side Story progress
- Core currencies: Starchrom, Crystgin, Mitsuko's Marks and Silver Keys
This is why veterans rebuild power so fast — blueprints and Mods are permanent, so a "new" scenario is mostly re-leveling, not re-earning.
Moved into Eternaland (your persistent personal hub)
Crafted items, materials, captured Deviations, and regular resources like ammo and medicine move into Eternaland, your private space that persists across scenarios. Critically: Energy Links convert into Astral Sand for building Eternaland — they do not survive as Energy Links. If a guide tells you "your Energy Links carry over," that is the exact wrong detail to trust if you were hoarding them for the next server.
Reset (starts fresh in the new scenario)
- Your character level — back to 1
- Memetics (re-picked for the new scenario's balance)
- Map discovery and landmarks
- Your territory and base placement in the world
- Scenario-specific items and gear tied to Memetic specializations
To stop late starters from feeling hopeless, entering a new scenario grants Resource Points that cap how much you can bring in from Eternaland. It is a deliberate anti-snowball design — so no, starting a scenario late does not leave you permanently behind.
"Cross server sync pending" and other new-console-player confusion
A few things trip up players arriving from the console launch:
- "Cross server sync pending" / data not showing across platforms. Cross-progression works through account linking, not automatic merging. If you already have a PC or mobile character and a new console character, the system cannot keep both — you choose one account's characters and lose the other. Always link before you invest hours in a fresh console character. (Full detail in our crossplay and cross-progression guide.)
- Servers are the same pool as PC and mobile — within your region. Console players join the same scenario servers as everyone else; there is no console-only server pool. "Same servers" means the same cross-platform pool inside your region, not one global shard.
- Maintenance is not a wipe. The 3.0.4 build and its follow-up patches ran maintenance windows that briefly took servers offline; that is downtime, not a reset, and no progress is lost.

The 2026 bottom line
Once Human in 2026 is far more forgiving than its 2024 reputation. Permanent servers mean you never have to lose a base you love. Seasonal servers still exist for players who want the full arc, and even they "reset" only your level, map and base placement — your blueprints, Mods, cosmetics, story and hard currencies come with you every single time. Pick a permanent server if you want to relax and build; pick a fresh seasonal Manibus run if you want the designed experience. Either way, the phrase "the servers wipe" belongs in 2024.
FAQ
Do Once Human servers wipe in 2026? Only seasonal servers, and it isn't a true wipe. A seasonal scenario runs about 63–68 days and ends with a 4-week settlement phase, after which your character is merged into the matching permanent server. Permanent (no-wipe) servers never reset at all.
What is the difference between a seasonal and a permanent server? A seasonal server runs a scenario through numbered phases and then settles; it gets all new content (regions, crisis events, Memetics, season goals). A permanent server only has the never-ending settlement phase — no reset — but it only receives cosmetics, balance changes and bug fixes, not new content.
Do I lose my character when a scenario ends? No. You keep your name, appearance, cosmetics, all weapon and armor blueprints and their star ratings, Mods, house blueprints, Battle Pass and story progress, and your Starchrom, Crystgin, Mitsuko's Marks and Silver Keys. Only your in-world level, map discovery and base placement reset.
What happens to my Energy Links between scenarios? They convert into Astral Sand in Eternaland for building your personal hub — they do not carry over as Energy Links. Don't hoard Energy Links expecting them to survive a scenario change.
How do I get onto a permanent server? You don't pick one directly. Stay on your seasonal server through its settlement phase and it converts to permanent, or your character merges into the matching permanent scenario. You must log in at least once every 30 days to keep your character there, or low-population servers may be merged.
Does starting a scenario late put me behind everyone else? Not permanently. Entering a new scenario grants Resource Points that cap how much veterans can bring in from Eternaland, which is a deliberate anti-snowball mechanic to keep late starters competitive.
Is there a global "current season" in Once Human? No. There is no single worldwide season clock. Every server runs its own phase timer and server-opening days differ by region (NA, EU, SEA, SA, HK-MO-TW, JP-KR), so any single "current season" date table is inaccurate.
