PoE2 Uncut Gem Prices (0.5.5): Why a Level 1 Uncut Skill Gem Sells for 1.5 Divines and a Level 8 Uncut Spirit Gem for 6.7

Quick answer

Some of the cheapest-looking items in Path of Exile 2 are worth more than your endgame drops. On poe.ninja's Forbidden Rites (0.5.5) Uncut Gems exchange data, snapshot taken October 22, 2026 at 03:37 UTC, a Level 1 Uncut Skill Gem trades for 1.55 Divine Orbs, a Level 8 Uncut Spirit Gem for 6.7 Divines and a Level 9 Uncut Spirit Gem for 5.47 Divines. A Level 19 Uncut Skill Gem is worth just 0.023 Divine. One Divine is currently 690.9 Exalted Orbs, so that Level 8 Uncut Spirit Gem is roughly 4,600 Exalts.

The rule: check the exchange price of every low-level Uncut Gem before you cut it. A few specific levels are scarce and sit right on a Gemcutting breakpoint, so they sell for far more than gems ten levels higher. Below is the full price table, why the odd levels spike, and how to sell without getting undercut.

What are the current PoE2 Uncut Gem prices?

Values from the poe.ninja Currency Exchange feed for Forbidden Rites softcore, snapshot 2026-10-22 03:37 UTC (1 Divine = 690.9 Exalted = 9.76 Chaos). Exalt column is rounded. These prices move hour to hour, and some levels trade only a handful of times a day.

Three numbers stand out:

  • A Level 8 Uncut Spirit Gem (6.7 div) is worth about 23× a Level 19 one (0.29 div). Gem value doesn't climb with level. It follows scarcity and unlock breakpoints.
  • A Level 1 Uncut Skill Gem (1.55 div) is worth about 68× a Level 19 Uncut Skill Gem (0.023 div).
  • Level 20 is a cliff. Level 19 Uncut Skill Gems trade for pocket change while Level 20 sits at 7.45 div. Holding a 19 doesn't put you "one level off" a big sale.

Why are low-level Uncut Gems worth Divines?

Two things combine: a Gemcutting breakpoint and thin supply.

  • Level 8 is a Spirit Gem breakpoint. Spirit Gems are engraved in unlock tiers, and poe2db's Spirit Gem table lists those tiers at 4, 8 and 14. Tier 8 includes Blasphemy, Herald of Plague, Mirage Archer, Time of Need, Blink and Elemental Invocation. A Level 8 or 9 Uncut Spirit Gem is the cheapest way to engrave one of those buffs at a low gem level. That's why Level 8–9 (5.5–6.7 div) beat Levels 10–13 (under 0.1 div), and why Level 14 (1.79 div) spikes again. (Higher-level Uncut Gems can also engrave earlier-tier skills, so the premium is for the low level, not access alone.)
  • Level 1 Uncut Skill Gems come from quests. poe2db lists the regular Uncut Skill Gem at drop level 4 and the quest version at level 1. Almost every new character cuts those quest gems straight into their first skills, so very few ever reach the market.
  • Low-level Spirit Gems come from a few campaign sources. The King in the Mists in Freythorn (Act 1) is a guaranteed first-kill Uncut Spirit Gem drop, and the Golden Tomb chest in the Lost City (Act 2) holds another. Players usually cut them on the spot for their first persistent buff.
  • Players want low gem levels. In the r/PathOfExile2 discussion, players point to demand for low-level auras from builds that can't meet a higher gem's attribute requirement, and from twink or alt levelling. They also note you can't easily take a gem back down a level once it's higher.

Our working theory is that these prices tend to firm up late in a league, when fewer fresh characters are running the campaign. Treat that as a pattern to watch, not a guarantee.

Which Uncut Gems should you sell instead of cutting?

A practical checklist for any character going through the Acts or mapping in 0.5.5:

Sell if you can spare them:

  • Level 8 and Level 9 Uncut Spirit Gems (5.5–6.7 div). One of these funds a solid early-mapping gear upgrade.
  • Spare Level 1 Uncut Skill Gems beyond the ones you need to start your build (1.55 div each).
  • Level 14–15 Uncut Spirit Gems (1.5–1.8 div) if you already have the persistent buffs you need.

Worth listing:

  • Level 7 Spirit, Level 7 and 11 Skill, Level 16 Spirit (about 0.4–0.85 div). Not life-changing, but 285–585 Exalts each adds up.

Just use it:

  • Most other Skill and Support levels, plus Level 10–13 Spirit Gems, sit well under 0.1 div. Cut them freely.

Before selling a Spirit Gem, check its level. Its value depends entirely on the level printed on the item. A Level 7 is worth under 1 div, a Level 8 nearly 7. Don't assume your first campaign drop is one of the expensive ones.

Is the "100 Div/Hr" gem trick real?

A post titled "100 Div/Hr no setup no cost no build needed" went around r/PathOfExile2 this week. It was flaired as Fluff & Memes and was a joke, not a farming guide. The useful part is the discussion underneath it, where players dug into why low-level campaign gems sell for so much.

So don't plan around an hourly rate. What actually holds up:

  • Selling a spare Level 8/9 Spirit Gem or a Level 1 Skill Gem is a nice bonus on a character you're already levelling.
  • Liquidity is thin. At the 03:37 UTC snapshot, the Level 8 Spirit Gem showed only about 22 Divines of daily volume and the Level 1 Skill Gem about 17. A few extra sellers would push the price down fast.
  • It doesn't replace a real farm. For steady income, compare a mechanic like Ritual farming in 0.5.5.

How do you sell Uncut Gems without getting undercut?

  • Use the Currency Exchange. Uncut Gems are listed there by level, the same market poe.ninja reads. If a new character hasn't unlocked it yet, see how to unlock the Currency Exchange through Ange.
  • Check the live ratio first. Look up the current best offer for that exact gem level. The table above is a dated snapshot, not a promise.
  • Price small gems in Exalts. For anything under about 1 div, an Exalt ask fills faster and avoids rounding losses.
  • Don't dump everything at once. With thin volume, listing three Level 8 Spirit Gems together just competes with yourself. Sell one, let the order book refill, then sell the next.
  • Use the proceeds before 1.0. Path of Exile 2 version 1.0 launches December 11, 2026 PST with a fresh economy. GGG's Forbidden Rites FAQ states the league "will run until the 1.0 full release and will end alongside Runes of Aldur." Converting to Divines doesn't move that wealth into the new economy, so spend it on gear and progress you'll enjoy now. Our 1.0 league-start prep guide covers what does and doesn't carry over.

Will low-level gems be valuable in the 1.0 launch league?

Unknown, and nobody can price it yet. On day one of a fresh league everyone is in the campaign, so low-level gems are common and the exchange is barely trading. The late-league premium we see now may or may not reappear. 1.0 also adds the final two Acts and could change where gems drop. Treat any 1.0 gem price as a guess until the market forms.

What you can plan for: early currency in 1.0's opening week will be scarce and expensive in time. Players who want to gear or level fast usually do better buying a currency stack than replaying Acts for gem drops. The Divine-to-Exalted value breakdown shows how much the rate has moved this league.

FAQ

Is a Level 1 Uncut Skill Gem really worth over a Divine in PoE2? Yes. In Forbidden Rites on October 22, 2026 (03:37 UTC), poe.ninja listed the Level 1 Uncut Skill Gem at 1.55 Divine Orbs, about 1,070 Exalts. Level 1 versions come from quest rewards, and almost every player cuts them immediately.

Why is a Level 8 Uncut Spirit Gem worth more than a Level 19 one? Level 8 is a Spirit Gem unlock tier (tiers are 4, 8 and 14 on poe2db), so it's the cheapest way to engrave buffs like Blasphemy, Herald of Plague or Mirage Archer at a low gem level. Supply is thin, so it traded at 6.7 div versus 0.29 div for Level 19.

Should I sell my first Uncut Spirit Gem? Check its level first. Only Level 8–9 (and to a lesser degree 14–15) carry a big premium. A Level 4–7 is worth well under 1 div, so you're usually better off using it for the buff.

Is the "100 div per hour" gem trick real? No. The viral r/PathOfExile2 post was flaired Fluff & Memes and was a joke. Selling spare high-value gem levels is a real bonus, but volume is thin and there's no reliable hourly rate.

Are Level 19 Uncut Skill Gems worth anything? Barely. A Level 19 Uncut Skill Gem was 0.023 div (about 16 Exalts) at the snapshot, while Level 20 was 7.45 div. Only Level 20 carries the premium.

Will my gem Divines carry over to PoE2 1.0? No. 1.0 launches December 11, 2026 PST with a fresh economy, and Forbidden Rites ends alongside Runes of Aldur. Spend or use your current-league Divines before then.
