Tarkov Collector Rework (1.1.0.0): The New Kappa Requirements — LL4 Traders, Fence Rep & Which Quests Actually Stay

Battlestate Games is tearing up the Kappa rulebook. With the first-ever Season 1 landing in update 1.1.0.0 (scheduled before the end of July 2026), the Collector task — the final wall between you and the coveted Kappa secure container — is being completely reworked. The old "grind every Kappa-required quest across eight traders" checklist is gone. In its place: Loyalty Level 4 with every trader, a Fence reputation gate, character level 40, and a short list of key quests.

This guide breaks down exactly what the new Collector requirements are, what's being removed, why the old Kappa Path achievement is about to become unobtainable, and whether you should sprint to finish Kappa before 1.1.0.0 goes live. Every fact here is checked against Battlestate Games' official announcement and the Escape from Tarkov Wiki — no invented numbers.

⚠️ Status check: As of writing, the live build is 1.0.6.5 (the Blackout event on The Lab). The Collector rework described here is announced for 1.1.0.0, the update that starts Season 1. Numbers are from BSG's official reveal and are subject to the final patch notes.

Quick answer: what's changing with Collector?

TL;DR — Tarkov Collector rework (1.1.0.0): The Kappa unlock is being simplified on paper but reshaped in practice. Under 1.1.0.0, Collector unlocks when you hit Loyalty Level 4 with all traders, Fence reputation 3.0, character level 40, and finish a short list of quests — Chemical Part 4, A Shooter Born in Heaven, The Tarkov Shooter Part 4, and Sew It Good Part 4. Dozens of old side-task requirements are removed. The catch: reaching LL4 with every trader still means completing a huge amount of questing, so Kappa isn't truly "easy" — the grind just moves from a checklist into trader reputation. The old "Kappa Path" achievement becomes permanently unobtainable once Season 1 starts; finishing Kappa afterward grants a new achievement instead.

Key facts, up front:

  • New hard gates: LL4 with all traders + Fence rep 3 + character level 40.
  • Quests that stay: Chemical – Part 4, A Shooter Born in Heaven (series), The Tarkov Shooter – Part 4, Sew It Good – Part 4.
  • Quests removed: "many side tasks" that were previously Collector prerequisites, per BSG.
  • Achievement change: the unique Kappa Path achievement is retired at Season 1 start — a new achievement replaces it.
  • Deadline: if you're close to Kappa now, finish before 1.1.0.0 to keep the original achievement.

If you're staring down a Level-40, max-trader grind and want to skip the worst of it, a Tarkov Quest & Kappa boost or a leveling boost gets you to the finish line without the 12-hour raid nights.

What are the new Collector requirements in 1.1.0.0?

Here's the new shape of the Collector unlock, straight from Battlestate Games' announcement:

RequirementOld Collector (1.0.x)New Collector (1.1.0.0)
Trader loyaltyNot a direct gateLL4 with ALL traders
Fence reputationNot requiredFence rep 3.0
Character levelEffectively high (via quests)Level 40
Required questsDozens of "Kappa-required" tasks across every trader4 quest lines (see below)
Kappa-required side tasksLong checklistMostly removed

The four quest lines that survive the cut are:

  • Chemical – Part 4 (Skier) — the finale of the classic Chemical questline.
  • A Shooter Born in Heaven (Mechanic) — the notorious long-range sniper series; still one of the hardest gates. Our full A Shooter Born in Heaven guide walks the exact shot locations.
  • The Tarkov Shooter – Part 4 (Jaeger) — the bolt-action rifle quest chain.
  • Sew It Good – Part 4 (Ragman) — the gear-collection questline.

Everything else on the old Kappa checklist is being dropped as a direct Collector requirement. That sounds like a massive shortcut — and it is, if you compare quest lists side by side. But read the fine print on trader loyalty before you celebrate.

Why "fewer quests" doesn't mean "easier Kappa"

Official Escape from Tarkov key art of the trader Prapor sitting at his desk surrounded by ammo crates — one of the traders you must reach Loyalty Level 4 with

This is the part most rushed hot-takes miss. Loyalty Level 4 isn't handed out for playing — trader loyalty in Tarkov is driven primarily by completing that trader's quests (alongside a sales-total and rep threshold per level). To hit LL4 with all traders, you still have to grind a very large slice of the quest tree; you've just been given freedom over which quests, rather than a fixed Collector checklist.

As one player put it on the subreddit after the reveal: you "still need to hit max traders, so you have more content than just this — it just opens the game up a little to do the quests you want to get the rep you need." The grind didn't disappear. It moved from a checklist into a reputation bar, and it lets you skip the specific tasks you hate as long as you make up the rep elsewhere.

The net effect for most players:

  • Good news: You can dodge the single worst gate-quests (outside the four that remain) if you'd rather earn rep another way.
  • Reality check: LL4 across eight traders + level 40 is still tens of hours of questing. Kappa is more flexible now, not casual.
  • Genuine easing: As long-time players note, Kappa is far less powerful than it used to be (heavy secure-container item restrictions), so a lighter gate is a fair trade.

If your bottleneck is trader loyalty and raw levels rather than skill-check quests, that's exactly the grind a leveling & trader-rep boost is built to remove.

The Kappa Path achievement is about to disappear

There's a hard deadline attached to this rework. In BSG's own words:

"In addition to the seasonal system, update 1.1.0.0 will include a wide range of other changes. One such change is a task system rework for every game mode. As part of it, the requirements for unlocking the 'Collector' task will be revised. Many side tasks will be removed from the list of requirements, leaving only a few, such as 'A Shooter Born In Heaven.' In exchange, one of the new requirements will be achieving LL4 with all traders and a separate Fence reputation threshold." — Battlestate Games

Crucially, BSG also confirmed that obtaining Kappa under the new requirements grants a new achievement, and that the current unique "Kappa Path" achievement will no longer be obtainable once the first season begins. If you care about the original badge, the clock is ticking: finish Collector before 1.1.0.0 ships or it's gone for good.

BSG's reminder was blunt: "update 1.1.0.0 is scheduled for release before the end of July. If you're already close to earning your first 'Kappa', you still have time to finish it before the changes go live!"

Should you rush Kappa before 1.1.0.0 — or wait?

Here's the decision tree, no "it depends" hand-waving:

Rush it now if:

  • You're level 40+ and past the four surviving quests already, or a couple of quests away. You keep the original Kappa Path achievement and dodge the new Fence/loyalty gates entirely.
  • You specifically want the retiring achievement for bragging rights or a completionist profile.

Wait for 1.1.0.0 if:

  • You're early-to-mid wipe (below level 30, patchy trader loyalty). Grinding dozens of soon-to-be-removed side quests just to beat the deadline is wasted effort — the new path won't require them.
  • You dislike specific gate quests that are being cut. Post-patch you can route around them via trader rep.

The one universal move: finish A Shooter Born in Heaven whenever you tackle it, because it survives in both the old and new requirement lists. Time spent on it is never wasted.

How to prep for the new Collector now

Whether you rush or wait, these steps pay off under both rulebooks:

  • Push trader loyalty. LL4 across all traders is the new backbone requirement. Prioritize quests that also bump loyalty rather than one-off side tasks. Keep an eye on the per-trader sales total for each loyalty tier.

Escape from Tarkov profile screen showing a change of standing with Fence, illustrating the Scav-karma-based Fence reputation now required for Collector

  • Farm Fence reputation early. Fence rep is tied to Scav karma — good Scav behavior, car extracts, and killing other Scavs' aggressors raise it; team-killing Scavs tanks it. Rep 3.0 is not trivial from zero, so start being a "good Scav" now.
  • Bank Roubles for the loyalty grind. Reaching LL4 needs large trader sales totals plus gear to run quests efficiently. A healthy Rouble stack keeps you kitted through the level-40 push.
  • Knock out the four survivors. Chemical P4, A Shooter Born in Heaven, The Tarkov Shooter P4, and Sew It Good P4 are required either way — do them on your own schedule.

Skip the grind: If Level 40, LL4 traders and Fence karma sound like a second job, our pro players do it for you.

- Tarkov Quest & Kappa Boost — full Collector unlock, done safely.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the new Collector requirements in Tarkov 1.1.0.0? Per Battlestate Games, Collector will require reaching Loyalty Level 4 with all traders, a Fence reputation of 3.0, character level 40, and completing Chemical – Part 4, A Shooter Born in Heaven, The Tarkov Shooter – Part 4, and Sew It Good – Part 4. Many previous side-task requirements are being removed. Final details may shift in the released patch notes.

Is Kappa easier to get after the rework? It's more flexible, not necessarily easier. The required-quest list is much shorter, but hitting LL4 with every trader still means completing a large amount of questing to build reputation. You gain freedom over which quests to do; you don't escape the grind entirely.

Will the Kappa Path achievement still be available? No. BSG confirmed the unique "Kappa Path" achievement becomes unobtainable once Season 1 (update 1.1.0.0) begins. Completing Collector after the patch grants a different, new achievement instead. If you want the original, finish Kappa before 1.1.0.0 goes live.

Should I rush Collector before 1.1.0.0? Only if you're already close — level 40+ and near the surviving quests. If you're early-to-mid wipe, don't burn hours on side quests that are about to be removed; wait for the new path. Either way, complete A Shooter Born in Heaven, since it's required under both systems.

How do I raise Fence reputation for the new requirement? Fence reputation is tied to Scav karma. Play your Scav "cooperatively" — use car extracts, kill players who are hunting Scavs, and avoid team-killing friendly Scavs, which slashes your karma. Building to Fence rep 3.0 from zero takes consistent good-Scav play over many raids.

When does Tarkov 1.1.0.0 release? Battlestate Games scheduled update 1.1.0.0 — which launches the first-ever Season 1 — for release before the end of July 2026. The current live build is 1.0.6.5 with the Blackout event running on The Lab.
