Patch 1.1.0.0.46608 went live on August 3, 2026, and it did more than bolt a season onto Escape from Tarkov — it rewrote how tasks work. The old rigid quest ladder is gone, side tasks now hang off trader Loyalty Levels and arrive in loose clusters, the economy got noticeably harsher, and the road to the Kappa container was overhauled with a brand-new achievement attached. If you jumped into a Kord Breach seasonal character (or you're just restarting your progression logic on your permanent account), the quest priorities you memorized last wipe are partly out of date. This guide breaks down exactly what changed, how to unlock traders fast under the new rules, which early quests are worth rushing, and how the new Kappa path actually works.

Quick answer (TLDR): In Season 1, tasks unlock in groups of two to four at a time based on your trader Loyalty Level, not in one fixed chain — so the fastest progression is to spread your effort and push trader rep, not tunnel a single quest line. Rush the quests that unlock traders and the Flea Market first, do your early Prapor/Therapist/Skier tasks to climb Loyalty Levels, and don't waste raids farming bosses for "kill Scavs" tasks (bosses, Raiders and Rogues no longer count). Traders now charge ~25% more, pay ~20% less, and the Flea fee rose 3% → 5%, so quest rewards and roubles matter more than ever. Kappa's old "Kappa Path" achievement is removed — the new goal is Dawn of a New Era, reached via Loyalty Level 4 with all traders + a Fence reputation threshold + level 40 (plus a few kept tasks like A Shooter Born in Heaven), with most old side-quest requirements stripped out.

What actually reset — and what didn't

Before the quest talk, kill the panic: nothing on your main account was wiped. Season 1 runs on an opt-in seasonal character that lives on separate servers, completely independent from your PvP Zone and PvE Zone profiles. Per the official patch notes, "Seasonal Character progression is automatically reset every four to six months with the release of a major content update and the start of a new season" (escapefromtarkov.com 1.1.0 patch notes). Your permanent stash, roubles, trader levels, hideout, skills and existing Kappa are untouched whether or not you opt in — there was no PvE wipe. If a guide tells you "the wipe reset everyone's stash," it's wrong; only the seasonal character starts from zero. For the full seasonal breakdown see our Season 1 seasons explainer.

That distinction is why quest strategy matters right now: seasonal characters started broke on August 3 into a tighter economy, so efficient questing is the fastest way out of the early-game hole.

What changed in the Tarkov Season 1 task rework?

The 1.1.0 patch tore up the task system that shipped with 1.0. Here's what's confirmed in the official patch notes:

  • Tasks are tied to trader Loyalty Levels and unlock non-linearly. Instead of a strict ladder, tasks "become available to complete in a more non-linear fashion, in groups of two to four at a time." Reaching a Loyalty Level opens a pool of tasks; finishing a single chain no longer levels a trader on its own.
  • Trade-volume requirements are deleted. You no longer have to buy junk and resell it to a trader to hit a hidden sales-volume number for the next Loyalty Level — that grind is gone entirely.
  • More money and XP per task. BSG explicitly increased the rouble and experience payouts for completing side tasks, partly to offset the harsher economy.
  • "Kill Scav" tasks were nerfed. On any eliminate-Scavs objective, only regular Scavs, Sniper Scavs and Player (PMC) Scavs count — Scav Bosses, Raiders and Rogues no longer contribute. Camping Killa or Reserve Raiders for free task progress is dead.
  • Group-shared progression. Squadmates can now complete eligible Story, Side or Operational objectives on your behalf, "regardless of level or faction," even without the task active — but they must still meet every condition themselves (distance, gear, active effects).
  • Some tasks stay strictly solo. Straight from the patch notes: "Some tasks remain strictly solo. We consider completing these tasks alone to be an important test of player skill (for example, The Tarkov Shooter, The Punisher, and similar task chains)."
  • Trader stock unlocks earlier. Many offers that were previously locked behind a specific quest now unlock automatically at the right Loyalty Level, and several popular ammo types and magazines at LL2/LL3 were moved down one Loyalty Level so you get them sooner.

The practical takeaway: breadth beats tunnel-vision. Because tasks arrive in clusters and one chain no longer carries a trader's rep, you climb fastest by clearing whatever's available across several traders at once.

How do you unlock traders fast in Kord Breach?

Trader Loyalty is the spine of the new system, so unlocking traders and pushing their Loyalty Levels is priority one. Under 1.1.0 every trader's reputation and character-level requirements were rebalanced, and the sales-volume gate was removed — so Loyalty now comes down to reputation (from tasks) + character level + a set of completed tasks at that tier.

Quick unlock notes that survived the rework:

  • Jaeger unlocks by completing Mechanic's introduction task once you reach him — do it early; Jaeger gates a huge chunk of mid-game tasks and the hideout-relevant quests.
  • Ref (the Arena/GP-coin trader) opens through Skier at Loyalty Level 2 after Easy Money Part One — not through the flash-drive quest some old threads claim.
  • The Flea Market still unlocks at PMC level 15 under standard rules (some hardcore Kord Breach modifiers can lock or delay it — check your seasonal modifiers). Getting to the Flea is one of the single biggest early spikes in your economy; see our Flea Market unlock guide.

Because trade-volume grinding is gone, the fastest LL climb is simply doing tasks — so treat the early Prapor, Therapist, Skier and Mechanic clusters as your leveling engine. If you want to skip the reputation grind entirely, that's exactly what a Tarkov leveling boost or quest boost is for. Our trader loyalty guide has the LL4-focused route.

What are the best early quests to rush in Season 1?

With tasks now clustering by Loyalty Level, "optimal order" is looser than it used to be — but the priority logic is clear. Rush quests in this order of value:

  • Trader-unlock and Loyalty tasks first. Anything that raises a trader's Loyalty Level or unlocks a new trader (Mechanic's intro → Jaeger, Skier's Easy Money Part One → Ref) pays compounding dividends: better stock, cheaper ammo, more tasks.
  • The early Prapor/Therapist money-and-XP tasks (Debut, the classic Shootout Picnic, Therapist's Shortage/Sanitary Standards-style handovers). They're low-risk, feed XP toward level 15, and now pay more than they did pre-1.1.0.
  • The Gunsmith line at Mechanic. It's slow but it's pure bench work (no raid risk), it hands over strong XP and rep, and it's one of the best passive climbs toward Mechanic Loyalty.
  • Flea-enabling progression to level 15, then pivot to whatever cluster unlocks your next Loyalty tier.
  • A Shooter Born in Heaven — this long sniper-kill chain stayed as a Kappa requirement through the rework, so if Kappa is your goal, start chipping at it early (it spans multiple maps). See our A Shooter Born in Heaven guide.

What to not waste time on: farming boss spawns for "kill Scavs" counts (they don't count anymore), and any old "sell X to a trader for volume" habits (that requirement is deleted). If you're chasing a specific trade offer, remember you now see the eventual reward the moment you accept the first task in a kept chain — so you can judge whether the chain is worth it up front.

How does the new Kappa path work now?

The Kappa container road was one of the biggest 1.1.0 changes. Two things you need to know:

The "Kappa Path" achievement was removed. In its place, obtaining Kappa now grants a new achievement called Dawn of a New Era. If you'd earned the old achievement before August 3, that's now a permanent badge of a bygone era — it can't be obtained anymore.

The Collector requirements were gutted. Most of the long list of side quests that used to gate Collector has been stripped out. The new path is built around Loyalty Level 4 with all traders + a Fence reputation threshold + character level 40, plus a small number of kept tasks (BSG specifically named A Shooter Born in Heaven as one that stays). BSG also confirmed Charisma and the "Personality Vacuum" perk no longer affect Collector's requirements. It's a meaningfully shorter — but rep-and-level-heavy — grind. For the full requirement list and the fastest route, read our Collector rework guide and the Season 1 Kappa walkthrough.

Why do quests matter more in the Season 1 economy?

Because the money got tighter. The 1.1.0 economy rebalance raised trader buy prices by ~25%, cut what traders pay you by ~20%, and bumped the Flea Market fee from 3% to 5%. That squeezes the classic flip-and-vendor income that carries most early accounts. With margins thinner, task rewards and quest roubles become a larger share of your early economy — which is exactly why BSG raised task payouts. Efficient questing isn't just progression now; it's your main early income stream.

If you'd rather skip straight past the broke-seasonal-character phase, a rouble top-up or a quest boost closes the gap instantly. Our Kord Breach fresh-start guide covers the fastest safe early-money raids to pair with your questing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Escape from Tarkov wipe everyone's account for Season 1? No. Only the opt-in, PvP-only seasonal character starts from zero, and it lives on separate servers. Your permanent PvP and PvE profiles — stash, roubles, trader levels, hideout, skills and Kappa — were untouched. There was no PvE wipe.

How do tasks unlock now in Kord Breach? Tasks are tied to your trader Loyalty Levels and unlock non-linearly, in groups of two to four at a time. Reaching a Loyalty Level opens a pool of tasks rather than forcing you down one fixed chain, and completing a single chain no longer levels a trader by itself.

What happened to the Kappa Path achievement? It was removed in 1.1.0. Obtaining the Kappa container now grants a new achievement called Dawn of a New Era. The Collector requirements were also reworked to Loyalty Level 4 with all traders plus a Fence reputation threshold and character level 40, with most old side-quest requirements removed (though A Shooter Born in Heaven stayed).

Do boss kills still count for "eliminate Scav" tasks? No. After the 1.1.0 rebalance, only regular Scavs, Sniper Scavs and Player Scavs count toward kill-Scav objectives. Scav Bosses, Raiders and Rogues no longer contribute, so farming a boss spawn for task progress no longer works.

Which tasks can my squad help me complete? Most eligible Story, Side and Operational tasks now support shared progression — a squadmate can advance them for you regardless of their level or faction, as long as they personally meet every condition (distance, gear, active effects). A few chains stay strictly solo, including The Tarkov Shooter and The Punisher.

Is questing worth it with the harsher economy? More than ever. Traders now charge about 25% more and pay about 20% less, and the Flea fee rose to 5%, so vendor flipping earns less. BSG increased task money and XP rewards to compensate, making quests one of your best early income sources in Season 1.
