AION 2 System Requirements: Minimum and Recommended PC Specs, Plus Download Size (2026)

Quick answer: To run AION 2 at minimum settings you need Windows 10/11 (64-bit), an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel Core i5-10500, 8 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB), DirectX 12, and 100 GB of free space. For the recommended tier, NC lists a Ryzen 7 3700X / Core i7-11700, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 2070 (8 GB). AION 2 is free-to-play, Windows-PC-only, and launches globally on 5 October 2026 — there is no Mac, Linux or console version. These figures are pulled straight from the official Steam store page (App ID 3393110), verified on 2 September 2026.

If you're deciding whether your rig is ready for launch, this is the page to bookmark. Below is every confirmed spec, what each line actually means for your PC, how much space to clear, and where AION 2 will download from — Steam and NC's own PURPLE launcher.

Can your PC run AION 2?

Here's the honest headline: AION 2 is not a demanding game by 2026 standards. The minimum GPU — an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti — is a card that launched in 2016, and the minimum CPU and 8 GB memory ceiling are entry-level. If you built or bought a gaming PC in the last six or seven years, you almost certainly clear the minimum bar. The one line that trips people up isn't the graphics card; it's the 100 GB of storage and the strong hint that you want an SSD.

That said, "runs" and "runs well" are different things for a live MMORPG. AION 2 is built in Unreal Engine 5, and NC's own marketing describes a world "36 times larger than the original" with "over 200 dungeons." Open-world zones, big faction fights and dense towns are where frame rates dip, so the recommended tier matters more here than in a single-player game. Aim for the recommended spec if you plan to play seriously past the opening zones.

AION 2 minimum system requirements

These are the minimum specs from the official Steam page for AION 2 (App ID 3393110):

ComponentMinimum requirement
OSWindows 10/11 (64-bit)
ProcessorAMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel Core i5-10500
Memory8 GB RAM
GraphicsNVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB)
DirectXVersion 12
Storage100 GB available space
NetworkBroadband internet connection

NC adds a specific note for lower-end machines. In its own words on the Steam page: "SSD Recommended. When using FHD resolution in-game, set the graphics preset to Very Low to ensure compatibility." In plain terms: if you're on or near the minimum spec and playing at 1080p, expect to run the Very Low preset for a stable experience.

AION 2 recommended system requirements

The recommended tier is what NC suggests for a smooth 1080p experience:

ComponentRecommended requirement
OSWindows 10/11 (64-bit)
ProcessorAMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i7-11700
Memory16 GB RAM
GraphicsNVIDIA RTX 2070 (8 GB)
DirectXVersion 12
Storage100 GB available space
NetworkBroadband internet connection

The recommended note is slightly softer than the minimum one: NC again says "SSD Recommended" and advises setting the preset to Low at FHD resolution for compatibility. That is a conservative recommendation — an RTX 2070 with 16 GB of RAM will comfortably push higher presets in most content — but it tells you NC expects heavy scenes (large-scale PvP, crowded hubs) where headroom helps.

What the AION 2 requirements actually mean for your build

The spec sheet is short, so here's what each line changes in practice.

CPU: a mid-range chip is plenty

The jump from minimum (Ryzen 5 2600 / i5-10500) to recommended (Ryzen 7 3700X / i7-11700) is a jump from six cores to eight, not from budget to flagship. MMORPGs lean on the CPU in packed areas — dozens of players and NPCs on screen means a lot of simulation. If you're upgrading one part before launch, more cores help in cities and faction fights more than a fractionally faster clock.

GPU: the 1050 Ti floor is low, the 2070 ceiling is modest

An 8 GB RTX 2070 as the recommended card is a friendly target — that's a 2018 GPU. Anything from an RTX 3060 upward will exceed the recommended tier easily. The 4 GB minimum on the GTX 1050 Ti is where you'll feel VRAM pressure at higher texture settings, which is exactly why NC steers minimum-spec players to the Very Low preset at 1080p.

RAM: 16 GB is the real target

8 GB is technically enough to launch, but a live MMO plus Windows, a browser and a voice app will fight over it. 16 GB is the practical minimum for a comfortable session, and it happens to be NC's recommended figure. This is the cheapest upgrade on the list and the one most likely to smooth out stutters.

Storage: clear 100 GB, and use an SSD

Both tiers list 100 GB available space, and both explicitly recommend an SSD. For a modern online game with streamed open-world zones, an SSD isn't about raw load-screen speed — it reduces texture pop-in and hitching as you move through the world. If AION 2 is going on a spare hard drive, budget for longer loads and more stutter, and consider moving it to an SSD before launch.

DirectX 12

AION 2 requires DirectX 12, standard on Windows 10 and 11. You don't need to install anything separately — a current Windows install already has it. This is also part of why the game is Windows-only for the global launch (more on that below).

How big is the AION 2 download?

The number to plan around is 100 GB of free space, which is what Steam lists as the storage requirement for both the minimum and recommended tiers.

One honest caveat: NC has not published an exact "download size" figure separate from that 100 GB storage requirement, and the two aren't always identical. The initial download is often smaller than the installed footprint, and a game this size typically ships day-one patches that add to it. Until NC or Steam publishes a precise download number, reserve the full 100 GB — you'd rather have the room than stall mid-install on launch day. We'll update this section the moment an exact download size is confirmed.

Is AION 2 on Mac, Steam Deck, mobile or console?

  • Mac and Linux: No. Steam lists Windows only for AION 2, with no macOS or Linux build. There is no confirmed Mac or Linux version.
  • Steam Deck: Not verified. The Deck runs Windows games through Proton, but AION 2's Deck compatibility has not been confirmed by NC or Valve, and live MMOs with anti-cheat can be hit-or-miss on the platform. Treat Deck support as unconfirmed until it's officially rated.
  • Mobile (iOS/Android): Only in Asia. AION 2 has mobile versions in Korea and Taiwan, but NC has not announced a Western mobile release. The global launch is PC-only.
  • Console (PS5/Xbox/Switch): No. No console version has been announced.

Where to download AION 2 — Steam and PURPLE

For the global launch, AION 2 will be available from two storefronts: Steam (App ID 3393110) and PURPLE, NC's own game launcher and platform. Both deliver the same PC client. You can wishlist the game on Steam now to get notified when it goes live and when a pre-load window opens.

Because AION 2 is free-to-play, there's no box price to pay to download it — you install it and play. The optional Founder's Packs (which include five days of early access from 30 September) are a separate purchase, not a requirement to download the game. If you're weighing whether that head start is worth it, we broke down every tier in our AION 2 Founder's Pack guide, and the full monetization picture is in Is AION 2 free to play?.

When can you pre-download AION 2?

AION 2 launches globally on 5 October 2026, with Founder's Pack early access running 30 September to 4 October. NC also ran a Launch Scale Test on 17–18 September, which had its own pre-download window published on the Steam page.

For the launch client itself, NC has not yet published an exact pre-load date or a server-open clock time. Publishers usually open pre-loading a day or two before a head start begins, but we won't print a specific hour until NC confirms one — inventing a launch time is exactly the kind of detail that gets a page fact-checked into the ground. The safest move is to clear your 100 GB now so you're ready to pre-load the instant it goes live. For the confirmed timeline and the moment pre-load opens, keep an eye on our AION 2 release date guide.

Not sure which class you'll roll first? Sort that out before the servers open with our AION 2 classes guide — deciding early means you spend your head-start hours playing, not staring at the character creator.

FAQ

What are the minimum system requirements for AION 2? You need Windows 10/11 (64-bit), an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB), DirectX 12, and 100 GB of free storage. NC recommends an SSD and, at 1080p on minimum hardware, the Very Low graphics preset.

Can I run AION 2 on a low-end PC or laptop? Probably, yes. The minimum GPU (GTX 1050 Ti) is a 2016 card and the CPU/RAM bar is entry-level, so most gaming PCs and many gaming laptops from the last several years should launch it. The two things to check are 100 GB of free space and — ideally — an SSD, since NC recommends one at both tiers.

How much storage does AION 2 need? Steam lists 100 GB of available space for both minimum and recommended specs. NC hasn't published a separate exact download-size figure, and day-one patches can add to it, so reserve the full 100 GB to be safe.

Is AION 2 on Steam Deck or Mac? There is no Mac (or Linux) version — AION 2 is Windows-only for the global launch. Steam Deck support has not been confirmed by NC or Valve, so treat it as unverified until it's officially rated.

Do I need to pay to download AION 2? No. AION 2 is free-to-play, so downloading and installing the game costs nothing. The Founder's Packs (which grant five days of early access from 30 September) are optional and separate from the free base game.

Where will AION 2 be available to download? From Steam (App ID 3393110) and NC's own PURPLE launcher. Both provide the same Windows PC client for the global launch.
