AION 2 Class Change: Can You Switch Class, and Is a Ticket Coming? (October 2026)

Two weeks after launch, a lot of AION 2 players are looking at their main and thinking they picked wrong. Maybe the class you chose on a whim is getting declined from 3-star parties, or the early damage meters put your class near the bottom. Either way, people want to know if they can switch. This guide covers what the global version actually lets you do as of 18 October 2026, the Korean news about a class change ticket and what it means for us, and the cheapest way to reroll without throwing away weeks of progress.

Quick answer: No. As of 18 October 2026 the global version of AION 2 has no class change ticket, no NPC and no menu that turns an existing character into another class, and NCSOFT has not announced one for global. In Korea, NC said on 13 October 2026 that the Class Change Ticket is on hold, after 52.4% of players in a livestream poll voted against it (47.5% voted for it). If you want a different class, you make a new character. Make it on the same server, so your Server Storage, cosmetics and Kina are shared and you don't start from zero.

Facts in this guide come from NCSOFT's official AION 2 announcements (mirrored on Steam, AppID 3393110), including the 4 October launch maintenance notes, the 9 October Server Transfer notices and the 7 October patch notes. The Korean class change news comes from Inven Global's report on the 13 October livestream. Player opinions come from r/Aion2 threads dated 17 October 2026 and are labelled as such.

Can you change class in AION 2?

No, not on the global version, and not as of October 2026. Your class is set when you create the character, the same as your faction (Elyos or Asmodian). No class change item has appeared in any shop, and no patch note since launch has added one. The patch notes of 13 October (PDT) / 14 October (CEST) have a "Class Changes" section, but it is balance changes (for example, a Spiritmaster summon fix), not a way to swap classes. Players who search for "class changes" and find that heading often read it the wrong way.

Here is what you can and can't change on a character you already have:

Is an AION 2 class change ticket coming to global?

Nothing is announced for global. This is where most of the confusion comes from, because the Korean version is a year ahead and its news gets reposted without the region attached.

What did NC announce in Korea on 13 October 2026?

During the Korean AION 2 livestream on 13 October, NCSOFT said the long-requested Class Change Ticket will not be released for the time being. According to Inven Global's write-up:

"The highly anticipated Class Change Ticket will not be released for the time being. In a previous player poll, opposing votes were in the majority." — Inven Global, 13 October 2026

The numbers from that report:

  • In an earlier poll, more players voted against a class change ticket than for it.
  • NC excluded votes from characters below 350K Combat Power "to prevent sample contamination". The no side still won, even in the 900K+ CP group.
  • In a second poll during the stream, 52.4% voted against and 47.5% voted for.

Two things to keep in mind. First, this is about the Korean service. The same stream also announced a roughly 30% PvP damage cut for Korea, and those changes don't automatically come to global. Second, Korean Combat Power is on a different scale. Korean players are at 350K–900K+ CP, while global endgame players on r/Aion2 talk about 100K–140K CP in mid-October. Don't compare your own CP to the Korean poll groups.

What does it mean for global players?

There are two honest takeaways:

  • Don't wait for a ticket. The version of AION 2 that has run longest still doesn't have one, and its players just voted it down. If you're unhappy with your class now, waiting for a ticket that may never come costs you more than rerolling does.
  • It isn't ruled out forever. NC said "for the time being", not "never". The same stream said improvements that went over well on global will be brought back to Korea, so feedback goes both ways. A late-September YouTube datamine video also claimed to find class change strings in the global client. NC has not confirmed this, and strings in game files don't promise a feature.

Why are players split on a class change ticket?

The r/Aion2 thread "Just give us class change ticket" (17 October 2026) shows both sides clearly. The original poster's case:

"There is a bunch of guys who picked a class on a whim like me, invested a lot of hours, crafting mats etc into it and realized meta is not favouring that class." — r/Aion2, 17 October 2026

The main argument against it is about gear, not fairness:

"What do you expect happens to your gear that already rolled stats and skills that only work for your current class? … people will just roll clerics, get their gear faster cuz every party needs them, then reroll off to whatever class they originally desired." — r/Aion2, 17 October 2026

That second point is the real design problem. AION 2 gear is soul-bound with rolled sub-stats, stigmas are levelled per skill, and the market is gated behind Membership. A ticket that kept your gear would let players level the class that's easiest to get into groups with, then switch into a class whose gear would normally be hard to get. A ticket that wiped your gear would be close to useless. NC didn't say why players voted no, but this is the argument that comes up most in community threads.

How do you "change class" the real way? Reroll on the same server

You can't change your class, but you can make a new character and keep a lot of what you've built. Here's how.

1. Why stay on the same server?

Make the new character on the server your main is on. Several important systems work per server:

  • Server Storage is shared by every character on the server. NC's Server Transfer Q&A confirms it is separate from Character Storage and that it holds Kina and items. This is how you pass materials and Kina to the new character.
  • Quna and Mileage are counted per server. NC's transfer notice says "Quna and Mileage held on the current server" move as a server-level balance.
  • Expanded character slots belong to a server. NC's Q&A: "Expanded character slots will remain on your current server." If you already paid for extra slots, they're on that server.

If you make your reroll on another server, those balances, storage and slots stay behind on the original server.

2. Do you have a free character slot?

NC said at the August global livestream that accounts start with about four character slots, expandable per server. That figure was reported by MassivelyOP and is not quoted directly from NC. NC's 9 October Server Transfer notice prices an extra slot at 1,000 Quna in the transfer flow. If you're out of slots, delete a character or buy a slot. For the full breakdown, see AION 2 Character Slots and Alts.

3. Should you delete your old main?

NC changed the deletion rules in the launch maintenance of 4 October (PDT) / 5 October (CEST) 2026. The wait went from 168 hours to 24 hours, and the minimum level to delete went from 10 to 1. So you can drop a test character quickly. But a deleted level 45 main is gone for good. If you have a free slot, keep the old main as a Kina-farming alt instead. Several r/Aion2 players in a 17 October alts thread say alts are mainly for running more dungeons and sending Kina back to the main.

4. What carries over to a new character, and what doesn't?

Carries overDoes NOT carry over
Founder's Pack cosmetics: NC's Founder's Pack shop lets you claim them "for all characters on all servers" (7 Oct patch notes)Your level, gear, stigma levels and Daevanion progress
Anything you put in Server Storage, including KinaCharacter Storage, which stays with that character
Quna and Mileage on that serverDaeva Passes, which are sold per character
Expanded character slots on that serverEnhancement and Soul Binding on your old gear

The last row matters most. AION 2's Gear Transfer moves Enhancement, Amplification and Soul Binding from one piece to another, but both pieces must be soul-bound to the same character. You can't move your main's +15 weapon progress onto a new class. Our AION 2 Gear Transfer guide covers the rules.

Skins are widely reported by players to be account-wide, and some players farm Season Shop skins on an alt for exactly that reason. NC hasn't published a full list of account-bound items, so check an item's tooltip before you count on it.

Should you reroll? A quick decision guide

Reroll if:

  • You don't enjoy playing the class. Fun is the only reason that lasts, because balance changes every chapter.
  • You're under about level 30. Releveling is quick at that point, and stigmas only start at level 22.
  • You want a class that's always in demand for groups. Cleric is the only dedicated healer, and players say finding groups as a DPS alt is the hard part.

Keep your main if:

  • You're only switching because of launch-week damage meters. An early-October snapshot of global meters (shugo.gg's NotMeter ranking, 3 October) had the casters and Assassin near the top and Gladiator near the bottom, and later snapshots have already shuffled that order. These are early rankings from a gear-limited start, and Korean endgame logs order the classes differently. One r/Aion2 Gladiator put it this way: on global "glad deals zero damage before overhead slam 16", meaning the class gets much better as its key skills level up.
  • You're getting turned away from 3-star groups. Item Level and Combat Power are the gates party leaders check first, so switching class alone often won't fix it. Our AION 2 Expedition Requirements guide explains the real gates.
  • You've put a lot into stigmas. Getting one stigma to Lv.20 takes 75 Stigma Shards, and the Abyss Shop's shard stock is reported to cap at 200 per character (check the live limit in-game). That's real progress to throw away. See our AION 2 Stigma Guide.

A good middle option is to keep your main and level the new class as an alt on the same server. You keep your progress, try the new class for real, and pass Kina between them through Server Storage. Our AION 2 Leveling Guide has the fastest early route for a fresh character.

FAQ

Can you change class in AION 2? No. As of 18 October 2026 the global version has no class change ticket, NPC or menu, and NCSOFT hasn't announced one for global. To play another class, make a new character.

Is there a class change ticket in AION 2 Korea? No. On 13 October 2026, NC said in the Korean livestream that the Class Change Ticket is on hold for the time being, after a poll where 52.4% of players voted against it and 47.5% voted for it.

Will AION 2 global get a class change ticket? Nothing is announced. NC said "for the time being", so it isn't ruled out forever. But the longest-running version of the game doesn't have one, so plan as if it isn't coming.

What happens to my gear if I make a new character? It stays with the old character. Gear Transfer only works between pieces soul-bound to the same character. You can pass materials and Kina through Server Storage on the same server.

Can I change my faction instead? No. Faction is permanent, and server transfers keep you in your faction. You can change your appearance with an Appearance Change Voucher and your name with a Name Change Voucher. Gender changes are unclear: NC's skin notices mention them, but NC hasn't published the exact global method.

How long does it take to delete a character in AION 2? 24 hours. NC cut the wait from 168 hours in the 4 October 2026 launch maintenance and lowered the minimum level to delete from 10 to 1.
