Logged into AION 2 and got told your account is temporarily restricted? You're not the only one. Between 11 and 17 October 2026, NCSOFT posted five account restriction notices for the global version, covering 42,677 accounts. NC says the targets were bots, gold farming, unauthorized programs and real-money trading. But some real players say they're stuck too, either flagged by mistake or caught by a security lock, which is not a ban at all. This guide explains what each one means, what the penalties are under the AION 2 Operation Policy, and how to appeal before the 15-day deadline runs out. Everything here applies to the global (NA/EU) version as of 19 October 2026.

Quick answer: "Temporarily restricted" in AION 2 means one of two things. Either your account was sanctioned in one of NC's ban waves (bots, unauthorized programs, real-money trading or abnormal trading), or it was hit by a temporary security lock because NC saw a risky login. NC says a security lock "is not a penalty". Both are fixed the same way: open a ticket at help.plaync.com/faq/aion2global. If it's a sanction, you have 15 days from the date of the sanction to appeal. NC restricted 4,996, 10,000, 9,422, 7,933 and 10,326 accounts in its five October notices.

Facts in this guide come from NCSOFT's official AION 2 notices on aion2.plaync.com, mirrored on Steam (AppID 3393110), and from the AION 2 Operation Policy. Player reports come from r/Aion2 threads dated 18 October 2026 and are labelled as such.

Why is my AION 2 account temporarily restricted?

There are only two official reasons, and NC lists both in every restriction notice.

1. A sanction (ban) after review. NC says it took action against two kinds of behaviour:

  • Botting and gold farming: "use of macros, bots or other unauthorized programs, and organized play patterns consistent with gold farming or real-money trading (RMT)."
  • Economy abuse: "Abnormal trading patterns that disrupt the game economy."

Each notice gives the same reason line: Operation Policy > Sanctions Table > Gold Farming / Bot Operations, Use of Unauthorized Programs, Real-Money Trading (RMT).

2. A temporary security lock. This one is separate from the bans. NC locks "a small number of accounts" when it detects "access from a device or connection that poses a potential security risk to the account, such as a possible account compromise." In NC's own words:

"A security lock is not a penalty: it protects your account and your items until the situation can be verified." — AION 2 Team, account restriction notice, 13 October 2026

There is a third, less common case in the Operation Policy: "Accounts related to a reported case may be temporarily restricted during the investigation process." So if someone reported you, or you were part of a trade NC is looking into, your account can be held while they check.

What NC says is not a reason: "Normal play, including long grinding sessions, is not affected." Long sessions alone won't get you banned.

How many AION 2 accounts have been banned so far?

42,677 accounts in five waves, all in the second week after the 5 October 2026 global launch. Here is every official notice so far:

NoticeRestriction time (PDT / CEST)Accounts restricted
Wave 110 Oct, 23:00 PDT / 11 Oct, 08:00 CEST4,996
Wave 212 Oct, 23:00 PDT / 13 Oct, 08:00 CEST10,000
Wave 314 Oct, 00:00 PDT / 09:00 CEST9,422
Wave 415 Oct, 22:00 PDT / 16 Oct, 07:00 CEST7,933
Wave 516 Oct, 21:00 PDT / 17 Oct, 06:00 CEST10,326
Total11–17 October 202642,677

Two things stand out. First, the waves are getting more frequent: three of the five landed in a four-day stretch from 14 to 17 October. Second, NC posts each notice within about an hour of the wave, in the early morning European time. NC hasn't published a schedule, so don't assume the waves have stopped just because a day passes with no notice.

This didn't come out of nowhere. On 4 October 2026, the day before launch, NC posted a warning about buying currency from outside sellers:

"Buying Kinah or Quna from unauthorized parties is strictly against our Terms of Service and will be met with swift consequences up to and including the termination of access to the game... We will not be merciful in our pursuit of protecting the in-game economy. Consider this your first and only warning." — The AION 2 Team, 4 October 2026

(The in-game currency is Kina, but NC's own warning spells it "Kinah", the original Aion spelling. Our AION 2 Kina guide covers how the currency and the Quna Exchange actually work.)

Is it a ban or a security lock? How to tell

NC's notices don't say whether the restriction message tells a ban and a lock apart. You can make a good guess from what you've been doing:

What happened before the restrictionMore likely
Logged in from a new PC, new network, a VPN, or while travellingSecurity lock
Someone else had your password, or you got a strange login emailSecurity lock (possible compromise)
Ran third-party automation, a bot, an input macro program or a hardware mouse macroSanction
Bought or sold Kina, Quna, items or a character for real moneySanction
Moved large amounts of Kina in unusual trades, or received Kina from a strangerSanction or investigation hold
None of the aboveSecurity lock or a false positive. Open a ticket

Only support can confirm which it is. If you're sure you played normally, assume it's a lock or a mistake and file a ticket straight away.

What are the AION 2 ban lengths?

The Sanctions Table in the AION 2 Operation Policy sets the penalties. These are the rows behind the October waves, plus the trading rows that come up most:

Violation (NC's category)1st offence2nd offence3rd / 4th
Gold Farming / Bot OperationsIntegrated Account Ban——
Use of Unauthorized ProgramsIntegrated Account Ban——
Creating / Distributing Unauthorized ProgramsIntegrated Account Ban——
Real-Money Trading (RMT)30 days90 days—
Attempted RMT3 days7 days30 days
Account Trading7 days30 days90 days
Exploitation of Bugs or Game Limitations7 days30 days90 days / Permanent

An Integrated Account Ban is the harshest penalty. NC defines it as "a permanent restriction on the use of all games and related services provided by the company". That isn't only AION 2. It covers your whole NC account. A Permanent Game Ban covers AION 2 only. A number of days means a Temporary Game Ban for that long.

A few rules in the policy surprise people:

  • Account sharing counts against you. If someone else breaks the rules while logged into your account, "sanctions may be applied to both accounts."
  • Items can be taken back. If you knowingly get items from someone else's rule-breaking, or get them "for free" without knowing, NC "may recover the relevant items."
  • Penalties can stack. Two violations at once can get two sanctions, and repeat offences can be punished more harshly.
  • NC can also go easier. The policy says NC "may refrain from imposing a sanction or impose a lesser sanction" depending on the circumstances.

Does the in-game macro get you banned?

This is the most common worry on r/Aion2, because NC's notices say "use of macros". AION 2 ships with its own built-in skill macro system, and that is a normal game feature. What NC is going after is outside automation: bot programs, auto-hunt scripts, input-macro software and hardware mouse macros that play for you. The Operation Policy bans "programs enabling actions impossible for regular users."

To be safe:

  • Use the in-game macro only. Our AION 2 Macros guide shows how to set it up.
  • Turn off macro profiles in mouse or keyboard software (G Hub and similar) while you play.
  • Be careful with third-party overlays and DPS meters. r/Aion2 users reported bans linked to a third-party DPS meter in launch week. NC hasn't confirmed which tools are allowed, so the safe choice is not to run them.

NC has never said "the in-game macro is 100% safe" in those words. But it's part of the game client, and we haven't found a credible report of a ban for using it alone.

How do you appeal an AION 2 restriction?

The steps are the same for a ban and a security lock.

1. Go to NC Support. Open help.plaync.com/faq/aion2global and sign in with the NC account you play AION 2 on.

2. Submit a ticket. The Operation Policy says appeals about sanctions go through Contact Us, and reports of account theft go through Report. If you think someone got into your account, use Report.

3. Include the facts support needs:

  • Your server and character name(s)
  • The date and time you lost access (match it to one of the wave times in the table above if you can)
  • Whether you recently changed PC, network or ISP, or used a VPN. This is often why a security lock happens.
  • Anything relevant you were doing, such as waiting for support to restore missing Twitch Drops (see below)

4. Watch the deadlines. The Operation Policy says:

  • "Appeals must be submitted within 15 days from the date of the sanction."
  • Account-theft reports must be filed "within 15 days from the date the incident occurred (inclusive)."

For a wave 1 sanction (11 October CEST), that means filing by about 26 October 2026. Wave 5 accounts (17 October CEST) have until about 1 November 2026. Don't wait. NC asks players to file "as soon as possible" and says "every request is reviewed individually."

5. Secure the account. Change your NC password and turn on any extra security NC offers, especially if it looks like a security lock. NC support will only talk to you through the ticket. Anyone messaging you on Discord to "unlock" your account is a scammer.

6. Don't file the same ticket over and over. The Operation Policy lists "repeatedly submitting identical inquiries" under False Reports, with a 3-day penalty for a first offence. File one detailed ticket and add to it.

How long does an AION 2 security lock or appeal take?

NC hasn't published a time. Player reports say it can be slow. In an r/Aion2 thread on 18 October 2026, one player who was waiting for support to restore missed Twitch Drops said they had been locked out for over 80 hours. Another wrote:

"Yeah they locked me out for the last 4 days even tho they said the process would take only 1-2 days." — r/Aion2 player, 18 October 2026

Those are single reports, not NC figures. But plan for days, not hours, especially with tens of thousands of accounts in the queue. If you were waiting on a Twitch Drops fix when you got locked, say so in your ticket so support can find the earlier case.

How do you avoid getting your AION 2 account restricted?

  • Never buy or sell Kina, Quna, items or characters for real money. RMT is 30 days the first time and 90 days the second. If it looks like gold-farm activity, it can be an Integrated Account Ban. Use the Market and the Quna Exchange instead. Both need Membership, as our AION 2 Trading guide explains.
  • Be careful with Kina from strangers. Large gifts or uneven trades can look like RMT on NC's side, and NC can take back items gained from someone else's violation.
  • Don't share your account. Both accounts can be sanctioned.
  • Log in from your usual setup. NC says security locks are triggered by a risky device or connection, so a new PC, network or VPN can set one off.
  • Run nothing that plays for you. Use only the in-game macro.
  • Check for connection problems first. If you can't log in at all and there's no restriction message, it's probably the servers. See our AION 2 server status guide.

FAQ

What does "account temporarily restricted" mean in AION 2? Your account was either sanctioned in one of NC's ban waves (bots, unauthorized programs, real-money trading or abnormal trading) or hit by a temporary security lock after a risky login. NC says a security lock is not a penalty. Support can tell you which one it is.

How many AION 2 accounts have been banned? NC restricted 42,677 accounts in five waves between 11 and 17 October 2026: 4,996, then 10,000, 9,422, 7,933 and 10,326.

How do I appeal an AION 2 ban? Submit a ticket at help.plaync.com/faq/aion2global, signed in with the NC account you play on. Include your server, character name and when you lost access. Appeals must be filed within 15 days of the sanction.

Can you get banned for long grinding sessions in AION 2? No. NC's notices say "Normal play, including long grinding sessions, is not affected."

Is the AION 2 in-game macro bannable? The built-in skill macro is part of the game, and we haven't found a credible report of a ban for using it alone. Bans target bots, auto-hunt scripts, input-macro software and hardware macros. NC hasn't published a list of allowed tools.

How long does an AION 2 ban last? It depends on the violation. RMT is 30 days for a first offence and 90 days for a second. Gold farming, bot operation and unauthorized programs are an Integrated Account Ban, which locks your whole NC account permanently.

Will my AION 2 account be unlocked on its own? Don't count on it. NC tells locked players to contact Customer Support to get access back. Player reports on r/Aion2 suggest it can take several days, so file your ticket early.
