ARC Raiders Rattler Amplification: All 3 Nodes

ARC Raiders Rattler Amplification: All 3 Nodes

Embark's own pitch for weapon amplification is "a Rattler with incendiary bullets and a 64-bullet magazine" — one build, on the cheap Common assault rifle that turns up in the Free Loadout. Frozen Trail 2.0 added a fifth "Amplified" weapon tier, and the Rattler is one of the weapons you can push into it. The good news for a Common gun: the Rattler's three amplification nodes all apply to the same weapon, so this is not a pick-one-branch decision. The only real question is how far you take it — the no-penalty burn upgrade alone, or the full 64-round drum with the handling cost that comes with it. This guide lists the Rattler's amplification nodes with their exact in-game effects (verified against the ARC Raiders Wiki amplification table), the bench chain that unlocks them, and the order to research them in.

Quick answer (TL;DR): The Rattler has three amplification nodes and they stack on the same gun: Incendiary Rounds (+5/s burn, +2s burn duration), Drum Mag (+40 magazine — 24 up to 64 — at the cost of +50% recoil, +30% dispersion and −10% ADS speed, and it still reloads a couple of bullets at a time), and More Reload (+2 bullets loaded per reload). On the Rattler's research tree, More Reload comes before Drum Mag — it is the prerequisite node you unlock first, which conveniently fixes the drum's slow partial reload. To amplify the Rattler you must unlock the Outpost and raise both the Gunsmith and the Research Station to Level 4, then amplify it with one rarity-matched Amplification Module — the Mk. I matches the Common Rattler — which opens its node tree. Every node still costs its own research and materials, and amplification is permanent and cannot be reverted. Research Incendiary Rounds first for burn damage with no handling penalty; take the More Reload → Drum Mag path only if you want Embark's advertised 64-round firehose.

What is Rattler amplification?

Weapon Amplification shipped with Frozen Trail 2.0 (console build 1.000.061). Mechanically it is a weapon Level 5 upgrade: the wiki states amplified weapons "can be upgraded to Level 5, unlocking Amplification slots that allow raiders to modify weapon functionality" (Amplified Weapons, ARC Raiders Wiki). Reaching Level 5 "integrates the module's ARC internals straight into the frame. It fundamentally changes the weapon and cannot be reverted." That Level 5 quality tier is a separate axis from the Common→Legendary rarity ladder — amplification applies on top of a weapon's existing rarity. The Rattler sits at the bottom of that ladder as a Common weapon, so the module that takes it to Level 5 is the Mk. I, the common-rarity match. The marks (Mk. I–V) map to rarity, so amplifying a Common Rattler uses the cheapest module in the chain.

The Rattler is a fully-automatic Assault Rifle that uses Medium Ammo, and it is one of the guns that can appear in ARC Raiders' Free Loadout — a weapon most Raiders have run at some point. Its base profile is deliberately plain: 9 damage per shot, a 500 RPM fire rate, a 24-round magazine at tier IV, moderate ARC armor penetration, and a 2.0x headshot multiplier (Rattler, ARC Raiders Wiki). It is reliable and cheap, which is exactly why amplification is interesting on it — you are turning the gun you already trust into something that punches above a Common.

Amplification does not replace your base loadout thinking — it stacks on top of it. If you have not settled which weapons you carry into Pendola Pass yet, read the best ARC Raiders loadout breakdown first, then amplify the gun you already run.

What are the 3 Rattler amplification nodes?

The Rattler has three amplification nodes at the research bench, and all three apply to the same gun — the wiki's amplification table lists Incendiary Rounds, Drum Mag and More Reload all under the Rattler, with no mutual-exclusion flag on any of them. Every node is permanent once applied, so the research order and whether you take the drum at all is the real decision. Here is every node and what it actually does:

NodeWhat it doesMaterialsWhen to take it
Incendiary Rounds+5/s burn damage and +2s burn duration (research: Thermite-Tipped Rounds)3 Fossilized LightningFirst — damage-over-time with no handling penalty
More Reload+2 bullets loaded per reload action2 Propellant Valve AssemblyPrerequisite for Drum Mag — research it on the way to the big mag
Drum Mag+40 magazine (24 up to 64) but +50% vertical recoil, +50% horizontal recoil, +30% max/base/ADS dispersion, and 10% slower ADS; still reloads a couple of bullets at a time (research: Magazine Geometry 101)4 Pressure RegulatorFor a dedicated spray build — gated behind More Reload

Every node costs its own research and materials at the Research Station on top of the Mk. I module that takes the gun to Level 5. The exact per-node material costs are published on the ARC Raiders Wiki amplified-weapons table: Incendiary Rounds needs 3 Fossilized Lightning, More Reload needs 2 Propellant Valve Assembly, and Drum Mag needs 4 Pressure Regulator. On the Rattler's tree, Drum Mag lists "Requires: More Reload", so unlocking the 64-round drum means researching More Reload first — which is why the finished drum build loads four rounds per action instead of the base gun's two, taking most of the sting out of the slow partial reload.

Two housekeeping facts apply to every amplifiable weapon, the Rattler included:

  • Amplified Durability is a shared baseline — amplified non-Legendary weapons like the Rattler carry +70 max durability over their un-amplified version.
  • Amplified weapons behave differently on death. Upon death the amplified weapon drops to 10% durability, and you can only repair it if you have already researched the required modules. An amplified Rattler is cheap to rebuild, but you lose the gun's edge if you let it degrade without the repair research.

Which Rattler node should you research first?

Because all three nodes stack but modules and research materials are scarce early, spend your first research where it changes the gun the most for the least cost — then decide whether the drum is worth the handling hit and the extra research hops.

Research Incendiary Rounds first. +5/s burn for +2s adds damage-over-time on top of the Rattler's 500 RPM output, which matters against mid-health ARC and against players who break line of sight after you tag them. It does not touch recoil, magazine, or handling, so there is no stat penalty to weigh against the burn. For a player who just wants a cheap Common gun that hits a little harder, this is the whole upgrade decision.

Then go More Reload → Drum Mag if you want the 64-round firehose. Drum Mag is the headline upgrade — it takes the magazine from 24 to 64 rounds, the figure Embark quotes in "a Rattler with incendiary bullets and a 64-bullet magazine" — but it is not free sustain. It adds +50% vertical recoil, +50% horizontal recoil, +30% dispersion across the board, and −10% ADS speed, and critically the gun "must still be reloaded a couple of bullets at a time" (Drum Mag description, ARC Raiders Wiki). Drum Mag also sits behind More Reload on the Rattler's tree, so you research More Reload on the way to it anyway — and that is what saves the build: More Reload (+2 bullets loaded at a time) means the finished drum loads four rounds per action instead of two, so the 64-round mag is not crippled by its slow partial reload.

A useful way to read the Rattler's tree: Incendiary Rounds is the clean, no-penalty pick to grab first once you have amplification unlocked; the More Reload → Drum Mag path is a deliberate spray build that trades handling and two research hops for Embark's advertised 64-round magazine. Because amplification is permanent and research costs stack up, decide whether you actually want the drum before you pour materials into it — there is no respec.

How do you unlock Rattler amplification?

ARC Raiders Outpost Expansion Level 3 to 4 card confirming it unlocks Gunsmith and Research Station Level IV

Amplification is gated behind an upgraded Outpost, not a quest. The chain is the same for every weapon (Amplification, ARC Raiders Wiki):

  • Unlock the Outpost. Amplification research lives at your personal Outpost, so the Outpost itself has to be built first.
  • Raise the Gunsmith to Level 4.
  • Raise the Research Station to Level 4. Both benches must hit tier 4 before amplification becomes available.
  • Upgrade the Rattler to Level 5. At the Gunsmith's Weapon Upgrades tab, upgrade the gun to Level 5 using one Amplification Module matching its rarity — for a Common weapon like the Rattler that is the Mk. I module. Reaching Level 5 is what amplifies the weapon and opens its Amplification slots. The requirement the wiki lists is the two Level 4 benches plus the rarity-matched module — nothing else. Reaching Level 5 also grants the baseline +70 Max Durability every amplified weapon gets, on top of its unlocked nodes.
  • Research and apply the nodes in tree order. With the tree open, research the nodes you want at the Research Station and apply them to the Rattler. Each node costs its own research and materials; the Mk. I module amplifies the gun in the first place, not a repeated per-upgrade toll. Mind the tree dependencies: Drum Mag is gated behind More Reload, so the 64-round build is two research steps, while Incendiary Rounds stands on its own.

That Research Station Level 4 requirement is the real wall — it is the same gate for every weapon, from a Common Rattler to a Legendary. If you want to skip the Outpost research grind that gates the whole system, the Outpost Research Boost pushes your research tier up fast, and Frozen Trail Runs farm the Pendola Pass materials and ARC components the research projects keep demanding.

Where do the amplification modules come from?

Amplifying the Rattler needs only a Common-rarity module — the Amplification Module Mk. I — which is the most accessible mark in the chain, so the Rattler is one of the cheapest weapons to push to Amplified. Amplification Modules come in marks (Mk. I–V), each tied to a weapon rarity. The full farming loop, including where each mark comes from, is covered in the Amplification Module farm guide. The related epic crafting materials that the broader amplification endgame eats are mapped in the Pneumatic Actuator and Pressure Regulator farm.

For the complete picture of the system — every amplifiable weapon, the full node catalogue, and the shared mechanics — the ARC Raiders amplified weapons hub is the parent page this guide spokes out of. If you are deciding which gun deserves your first module at all, the best weapons tier list ranks where the Rattler lands against the rest of the roster.

Is amplifying the Rattler worth it?

For a Common free-loadout gun, the value is high relative to its rarity — the module is a cheap Mk. I and the gun is one you already carry. Incendiary Rounds alone makes the stock Rattler hit harder for one common module plus the node's research, which is a strong early return on a Common weapon. The Drum Mag build is more of a project: it needs More Reload researched first, then Drum Mag, plus the handling discipline to manage the added recoil, before the 64-round firehose pays off. Once you have cleared the Outpost grind and both benches are Level 4, the Rattler is a strong first amplification target: research Incendiary Rounds for the no-penalty burn, and only push the More Reload → Drum Mag path if you specifically want the high-capacity spray gun — amplification is permanent, so commit to the upgrades you will actually run.

FAQ

How many amplification nodes does the Rattler have? Three: Incendiary Rounds, Drum Mag, and More Reload. All three apply to the same gun — the wiki's amplification table lists every one of them under the Rattler with no mutual-exclusion between them. Every node is permanent once applied, so the research order (and whether you take the drum at all) is the decision that matters.

Can you stack incendiary rounds and the drum mag on one Rattler? Yes. Embark's own showcase build is exactly that — "a Rattler with incendiary bullets and a 64-bullet magazine" on a single gun. You spend one rarity-matched Amplification Module to amplify the Rattler, then research as many of its three nodes as you want at the Research Station — just remember Drum Mag is gated behind More Reload on the tree, so the drum takes two research steps.

What does the Rattler Drum Mag do in ARC Raiders? It adds +40 magazine capacity, taking the Rattler from a 24-round magazine to 64 rounds. In exchange it adds 50% vertical recoil, 50% horizontal recoil, 30% dispersion across the board, and 10% slower ADS, and the gun still reloads only a couple of bullets at a time — which is why the tree lists More Reload as a required prerequisite for Drum Mag, so you unlock the faster partial reload on the way to the drum.

Which Rattler amplification should you research first? Incendiary Rounds for every build — it adds burn damage with no handling downside. If you also want the 64-round drum, note that More Reload is its prerequisite on the tree, so research More Reload, then Drum Mag — the loaded-rounds bonus from More Reload is exactly what keeps the huge magazine from being crippled by its slow partial reload.

What module do you need to amplify the Rattler? The Amplification Module Mk. I, the common-rarity match for the Common Rattler. That module amplifies the gun and opens its node tree; the individual nodes are then researched and applied at the Research Station.

How do you unlock weapon amplification in ARC Raiders? Unlock the Outpost, then raise both the Gunsmith and the Research Station to Level 4. After that you amplify the weapon at the Gunsmith's Weapon Upgrades tab with an Amplification Module matching its rarity, then research each node individually.

Is Rattler amplification permanent? Yes. Weapon Amplification on any weapon, the Rattler included, fundamentally changes the weapon and cannot be reverted, so every node you research and apply is a permanent commitment.
