Delta Force Detonation Best Weapons After the October 15 Balance Update

Delta Force's October 15 update quietly rewrote the Detonation meta. It is a no-downtime patch, so there is no splash screen telling you your go-to loadout just got worse — you only find out when your M700 stops one-tapping and the enemy's Desert Eagle starts deleting you through the chest. This guide breaks down exactly what changed, what the best Detonation weapons are now, and how the new round economy changes what you should buy.

Quick answer: After the October 15, 2026 balance patch, the Desert Eagle and .357 Revolver are the standout winners (both got big damage and velocity buffs), while the M700 semi-auto sniper, Thompson SMG, MK4 SMG, and FS-12 shotgun all got nerfed. The round economy also pays more for kills and losing streaks, so eco rounds are more survivable. Nothing was added to the mode — this is a pure rebalance.

All numbers below are quoted verbatim from the official Team Jade patch post on Steam (app 2507950, "Polaris Patrol: New Mini-Mode Arrives, Operator & Firearm Balance Adjustments", 2026-10-15). This article covers Detonation (Beta) only; for the mode's maps, bombsites and round basics, see our Detonation best loadouts & maps guide and the how-to-play walkthrough.

What changed in Detonation on October 15?

The patch touched Detonation in three places: weapon stats, the NC8 bomb timer, and the round economy. There were no new guns and no new maps in this update — the new content was the Polaris Patrol Operations mini-mode, which is separate from Detonation.

Here is the full weapon rebalance, exactly as published:

WeaponChangeDirection
Desert EagleChest Damage Multiplier 1x → 1.375x; Muzzle Velocity 340 → 450 m/sBuff
.357 RevolverNo damage falloff at any range; Projectile Velocity 340 → 650 m/sBuff
AS ValPurchase Price 2,700 → 2,500Buff (cheaper)
FS-12 ShotgunSemi-Auto 16×8 → 15×8; Pump 19×8 → 18×8 dmg + armor penNerf
M700 SniperSemi-Auto dmg 100 → 77, abdomen mult 1x → 0.9x; Auto headshot mult 2.5x → 2.2xNerf
MK4 SMGBurst limb damage mult 0.6x → 0.5xNerf
Thompson SMGDamage falloff worse; Advanced Frame headshot mult 1.9x → 1.6xNerf
K437Purchase Price 2,700 → 3,000Nerf (pricier)
MDRPurchase Price 2,500 → 2,700Nerf (pricier)

The NC8 bomb also now has a longer fuse after deployment: 45 seconds → 50 seconds. That is five extra seconds for the defending team to rotate and defuse, which subtly favours defenders and makes fast, uncontested plants slightly less lethal.

What are the best Detonation weapons now?

Here is the post-patch pick order, grouped by role. The headline story is that the secondary slot suddenly matters.

S-tier — the clear winners

  • Desert Eagle (pistol). A chest-damage multiplier jumping from 1x to 1.375x plus a muzzle-velocity bump from 340 to 450 m/s turns the Deagle from a meme into a genuine body-shot threat. On eco and pistol rounds it is now a top pick, and as a backup it can finish a chest-shot trade that your primary started.
  • .357 Revolver (pistol). This got the bigger mechanical change: no damage falloff at any distance and projectile velocity nearly doubled (340 → 650 m/s). A revolver that hits for full damage at range with near-hitscan travel time is a real anti-sniper and eco-round option now.

A-tier — still strong, untouched

  • AK-12 / M4A1 / RM277 family rifles were not changed and remain reliable full-buy primaries. With the Thompson and MK4 both nerfed, these standard rifles climb the list by default.
  • AS Val. Not a stat change, but a price cut to 2,500 makes it a more attractive mid-range buy on tighter economies.

Dropped a tier

  • M700 Sniper. The semi-auto body-shot damage falling from 100 to 77 is the single most impactful change in the patch. It no longer guarantees the same fast follow-up kills, and the auto-mode headshot multiplier dropping to 2.2x hurts aggressive quickscoping. Still usable, but no longer the default carry.
  • Thompson SMG & MK4 SMG. Both lost damage consistency (Thompson's headshot multiplier 1.9x → 1.6x; MK4's burst limb damage 0.6x → 0.5x). Close-range SMG rushing is weaker this patch.
  • FS-12 Shotgun. Nerfed for the second patch running — this follows the September 30 limb-damage cut. Team Jade clearly wants to keep shotgun rushing in check.

Should you still snipe in Detonation?

Yes — but differently. The M700 nerf does not kill sniping; it kills lazy sniping. Pre-patch you could body-tap for 100 and clean up with a fast second shot. Now a 77-damage body shot means a chest hit against an armoured opponent no longer reliably two-taps, so you have to actually hit heads or play for the opening pick and rotate rather than hold a lane and trade bodies. On the maps with long sightlines the M700 is still worth bringing, but pair it with the buffed Desert Eagle or .357 Revolver as a secondary: the sniper takes the first duel at range, and the pistol — now a real close-range threat — handles anyone who closes the gap before you can re-chamber. That sniper-plus-strong-sidearm combo is the single biggest practical takeaway from this patch.

A sensible post-patch Detonation buy, then, looks like this: a standard rifle (AK-12, M4A1 or RM277) or the cheaper AS Val as your workhorse primary on full buys, and a Desert Eagle or .357 Revolver as the secondary on every round — including pistol and eco rounds, where the two buffed handguns are now genuinely competitive rather than a last resort. Skip the Thompson and MK4 until Team Jade walks the SMG nerfs back.

How does the new Detonation economy work?

This is the part most guides will miss, because until now the Detonation buy-phase numbers were never officially published — they are new, first-party figures as of October 15. The patch calls it "Detonation Economy System Optimization," and every reward value went up:

RewardBeforeAfter
Standard weapon kill reward+400+500
Round victory+3,200+3,300
Second-round losing streak bonus+3,000+3,100
Third-round losing streak bonus+3,600+3,800

The practical effect: eco rounds are more forgiving now. A bigger losing-streak stipend means a team that drops the first couple of rounds can rebuy real weapons sooner instead of getting economy-snowballed into a loss. The +100 per kill also rewards fragging even in a round you are going to lose — frag out, bank the credits, and come back with a full buy. Combine that with the cheaper AS Val (2,500) and the newly viable Deagle, and force-buys are a much better bet than they were a week ago.

Note the two primary rifles that got more expensive — K437 (now 3,000) and MDR (now 2,700) — which nudges budget-conscious players back toward the standard-priced rifles on partial buys.

Did the October 15 patch change ranked matchmaking?

Yes, for high-tier players. The patch states that for Legend and higher Ranked tiers, wins now carry more weight than individual match performance when calculating Ranked Point gains and losses, and that matchmaking at those tiers now pairs you against more evenly matched opponents — with the trade-off of longer queue times. If you grind Detonation Ranked at the top end, expect slower matches but fairer lobbies, and expect your rank to track your win rate more than your K/D.

Several Detonation bugs were also fixed: the Random Weapon function on the recommendation screen now works correctly, melee weapons no longer play a wrong switch sound, and the Detonation Elite Achievement Badge unlock requirement was corrected.

Operator changes that affect Detonation and Operations

The same patch nerfed three operators. These apply across modes, so they matter if you bring the same operator into Detonation:

  • Stinger (Support). Hive-Tech Pistol self-healing cut from 3 HP/s to 2 HP/s (duration up to 20s); the Hive-Tech Smoke combo now removes the healing buff entirely when you take damage instead of pausing it, and the effect drops from 5 HP/s over 60s to 3 HP/s over 20s. Stinger's sustain is meaningfully weaker.
  • Shepherd (Engineer). Sonic Trap hit damage 25 → 20, purchase price 250 → 300, and the trap hitbox was temporarily shrunk (Team Jade says it will refine the bullet-blocking behaviour in a later update and revert the size).
  • Rover (Support). The Clover attack dog was reworked: stacking multiple Clovers on one team now sharply reduces each dog's damage and raises its damage-taken multiplier, and Clover duration drops 50s → 40s. No more spamming three dogs for free pressure.

FAQ

What is the best weapon in Delta Force Detonation after the October 2026 update? For primaries, the standard rifles (AK-12, M4A1, RM277) are the safe meta picks now that the Thompson and MK4 SMGs were nerfed. The biggest gainers this patch are the secondaries: the Desert Eagle (chest damage 1x → 1.375x) and the .357 Revolver (no range falloff, much faster projectile) are both genuinely strong this patch.

Why does my M700 feel weaker in Detonation? The October 15 patch cut the M700's semi-auto damage from 100 to 77 and its auto-mode headshot multiplier from 2.5x to 2.2x. It is a direct nerf — you are not imagining it. The gun still works but no longer gets the same quick follow-up kills.

Did Detonation get new maps or weapons on October 15? No. The October 15 update added the Polaris Patrol mini-mode to Operations, not to Detonation. For Detonation it was a pure balance patch — weapon stats, the NC8 bomb timer, the round economy, ranked matchmaking and bug fixes.

How much do you earn per kill in Detonation now? A standard weapon kill now pays +500 credits (up from +400), a round win pays +3,300, and losing-streak bonuses rose to +3,100 (second round) and +3,800 (third round). Eco and force-buy rounds are more viable as a result.

Is the Desert Eagle good in Detonation now? Yes — much better than before. Its chest damage multiplier went from 1x to 1.375x and its muzzle velocity from 340 to 450 m/s, making it a legitimate pistol-round and backup option rather than a novelty.

When did these changes go live? The patch rolled out on October 15, 2026 as a no-downtime update during the current Reorientation season. If your client is out of date you will need to update before you can log in.
