FC 27 Transfer Market Locked: How to Unlock It In-Game and on the Web App

Quick answer (TLDR): There are two separate locks in Ultimate Team and almost everyone confuses them. The in-game market is gated by Graduated Access — new accounts must finish a Foundations Objective Group, after which EA grants full access "in 48 hours for players on PC, and within 24 hours on other platforms" (EA Help). The Web App and Companion App market is a different lock, earned by active days: EA's own examples are 2 active days for a clean, sole account on a device and at least 4 active days if more than one Ultimate Team account has ever used that device (EA Help). Finishing Graduated Access does not unlock the apps. Both articles are written for FC 26 — EA has published no FC 27 version yet, so treat them as the live rules expected to carry over, not confirmed FC 27 detail.

Current FC 27 phase: pre-launch. Global release is 25 September 2026 on all platforms, with PC unlocking 24 September at 23:00 UTC. Early access starts 18 September 2026 for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Editions, and the Ultimate Team Web App is expected around 16 September — EA has not confirmed that date.

That timeline matters because the most common launch-week post on r/FUT and r/EASportsFC every year is some version of "my Transfer Market is locked and I don't know why." It costs people the entire early-access trading window, and it keeps happening because Ultimate Team runs two independent gates with two completely different unlock conditions. Miss the distinction and you can be fully unlocked in-game while the Web App still shows a padlock four days later.

Here is how each gate works, sourced from EA's own documentation, plus the day-by-day sequence to be trading before the Standard Edition crowd boots the game.

Why is the FC 27 Transfer Market locked in the first place?

Because EA deliberately locks it. This is not a bug, a server issue or a regional rollout — it is a designed anti-abuse system called Graduated Access, built to stop freshly created accounts from being spun up as coin-transfer mules on day one. EA states the reasoning plainly:

"Limiting Transfer Market access for new accounts helps protect the economy from potential rules-breaking activity while ensuring that actual new players are introduced to FUT at a more measured pace. It's one more way we're focusing on player trust and system integrity from day one."

EA Help, "Unlock the Transfer Market"

Two things follow. First, support cannot help you — EA is explicit in its companion apps article that "Our advisors can't grant access to the EAS FC Transfer Market or tell you when you'll get access." Second, because the system is behavioural rather than date-based, the fix is always the same: perform the specific actions EA counts, and wait out the timer.

Who skips the lock entirely in FC 27?

Returning players in good standing. For FC 26, EA was precise:

"Eligible players returning from EA SPORTS FIFA 23, EA SPORTS FC™ 24, and EA SPORTS FC™ 25 in good standing skip Graduated Access and get direct Transfer Market access, in-game and on the Companion and Web App."

EA, FC 26 Launch Update Pitch Notes

This is the one case where a single condition clears both gates at once.

EA has not published the equivalent FC 27 eligibility list. A rolling three-title window — FC 24, FC 25, FC 26 — is the obvious expectation, but that is an inference, not an EA statement, and the FC 26 list notably reached back to FIFA 23. A Launch Update Pitch Notes is still to come before release; assume nothing until it lands.

The other half of that phrase does the heavy lifting: "in good standing." A live Transfer Market ban, an active suspension, or a franchise-level ban removes you from the skip list regardless of how many titles you have played.

How do you unlock the in-game Transfer Market?

If you are new to the franchise, or your account is not in good standing, you complete Objective Groups. EA's help article gives the route: Ultimate Team → Objectives → finish the Venturing Out Foundations Objective Group → claim your reward. There is a prerequisite in the same article: "You have to complete the New Beginnings Foundations Objective Group to gain access to the Venturing Out Objective Group." So it is two groups in sequence, not one.

One warning if you are cross-referencing older guides: EA has used three different names for this group. The FC 26 Launch Update called it "On Your Way", the in-game screen in EA's own Deep Dive asset says "UT Foundations", and the currently maintained help article says New Beginnings → Venturing Out. The FC 26 in-game Objectives screen shown at the top of this article makes the chain explicit: the Foundations tab lists Diving In above a still-Locked group whose description reads "Put the final pieces in place to unlock your path to success in Ultimate Team. Complete these objectives to access the Transfer Market. All rewards are Untradeable." The help article is the newest source of record, and EA warns that "the specific details listed here may be adjusted in the future as we monitor player behavior." Expect FC 27 to rename them again — and expect the structure to survive. Follow the on-screen prompt, not a guide's group name.

Once you claim, the timer starts:

PlatformFull access granted afterWhat you can do meanwhile
PC (EA App / Steam / Epic)48 hoursList items only
PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X\S, Xbox One, Switch, Switch 2Within 24 hoursList items only

EA's wording on the interim state: "players will have access to list Items on the Transfer Market but will not have access to search the Transfer Market or perform Bid/Buy Now actions until the time period has elapsed."

That is a real edge. During the waiting window you can list. The correct play on a new account: finish the objectives, immediately list every duplicate and starter-pack gold you do not need, and let them sell while the search-and-buy side is frozen. You come out of the timer with a coin balance instead of a to-do list.

Why is the market still locked on the Web App after you unlocked it in-game?

This is the most misunderstood part of the system, and EA answers it in one line at the bottom of the Graduated Access article:

"Completing Graduated Access doesn't automatically unlock access on the Web and Companion apps."

EA Help

The Ultimate Team Web App on a tablet next to the Companion App on a phone, both showing the same Squad Building Challenge screen

The app market is a separate entitlement with a separate condition. Graduated Access is objective-based and clears the console/PC market. App access is activity-based and clears the Web App and Companion App. Completing one has no mechanical effect on the other.

That is why every year brings a wave of threads from people trading happily on PS5 while the Web App has shown a padlock for over a week. Nothing is broken — they cleared gate one and never started gate two.

How many active days does the FC 27 Web App market take?

EA publishes worked examples rather than a formula (EA Help):

Your situationActive days EA says it normally takes
Account in good standing, the only UT account ever created on or logged in from that device2 active days
Account in good standing, not the only UT account used on that deviceAt least 4 active days — possibly longer
Device shared with siblings or friends who also play UTLonger again, scaling with the number of accounts
Account not in good standing / franchise banMay not unlock at all this title

EA names three inputs: "Your account history and if it's in good standing", "The number of Ultimate Team™ accounts you're using on the same device", and "The number of active days you've played Ultimate Team™."

That middle factor quietly ruins launch week for a lot of people. A shared console, a sibling's club, or an old account you made once and abandoned all push you from the 2-day bucket into the 4-day-plus bucket. When access lands, EA sends confirmation: "We'll send a message to your Ultimate Team™ account in-game to let you know when you unlock access."

What actually counts as an "active day"?

This definition is worth memorising verbatim, because most community answers get it half wrong:

"An active day is when you've played three full matches in Ultimate Team™ and logged in to the Web or Companion App within a calendar day, following UTC timezones, per Ultimate Team™ account."

EA Help

Four things people miss inside that one sentence:

  • Three full matches. Not three logins, not three menu sessions. Quitting out early does not bank the day.
  • Plus an app login. Playing without opening the Web App or Companion App that day does not count. This is the step most people skip entirely, which is why they grind matches for a week and stay locked.
  • UTC calendar days. If you are in GMT+3 and play at 01:00 local, that lands on the previous UTC day. Late-night sessions in eastern time zones can silently collapse two calendar days into one.
  • Per Ultimate Team account. Progress does not pool across clubs on the same device.

Three Companion App phone screens showing Transfer Market activity including a Make Bid and Buy Now purchase prompt, squad management and item details

And the anti-grind clause, straight from EA: "Playing more than three matches per day won't increase your chances of unlocking the Transfer Market." Match four onwards contributes nothing to the unlock. Three matches, one app login, repeat tomorrow.

What if you get a block message instead?

A block is a different state from a lock, and EA gives two exact strings to identify it. If your app shows either of these, you are not waiting on a timer:

"Your account has been blocked from using the Transfer Market on the Web and Companion Apps due to breaking our rules. Although you can't access the Football Ultimate Team™ Transfer Market on Web and Companion Apps for the current FC title, you can still use the in-game Transfer Market. Check the email associated with your EA Account for more information."

"Your account has been blocked from using the Transfer Market due to breaking our rules. Check the email associated with your EA Account for more information."

The first is app-only — the console market keeps working. The second is total. In both cases EA emails an explanation to the address on the EA Account, and the route back is the appeal process, not more matches. Check that inbox before you burn early-access days grinding an unlock that will never arrive.

Do FC 26 Transfer Market bans carry into FC 27?

EA answers this for the 25 → 26 transition, and two different penalties behave differently:

"If you were banned from the Transfer Market playing EAS FC 25 it won't transfer to EAS FC 26, but you'll need to earn access to the Transfer Market when playing EAS FC 26 for the first time. If you have a franchise ban from the EAS FC franchise, this will carry over to EAS FC 26 and affect your ability to access the Transfer Market."

EA Help

So: a title-specific market ban dies with the title but costs you the returning-player skip — you earn access from scratch. A franchise ban follows you across titles and keeps affecting market access. EA has not published the FC 26 → FC 27 version, so treat it as expected behaviour rather than a confirmed FC 27 rule.

What is the fastest FC 27 unlock timeline?

Assuming the FC 26 rules carry over and the Web App opens on its expected date, here is the sequence that has you trading on day one rather than day five. Every date is either EA-confirmed or explicitly flagged as expected.

WhenDo thisWhy
Now – 15 SeptConfirm your FC 26 club is active and your account is in good standing; read the email on your EA AccountThe returning-player skip is decided by account state, not by anything you do at launch
~16 Sept (expected)Log into the FC 27 Web App the moment it opens and check the marketReturning players in good standing should have it immediately — see the Web App day-one checklist
~17 Sept (expected)Log into the FC 27 Companion AppCompanion logins count toward the app-login half of an active day
18 SeptEarly access opens for Ultimate / Ultimate Plus. If locked: finish New Beginnings → Venturing Out, then list every spare itemYou can list during the 24/48h window even though you cannot buy
18–19 SeptThree full matches, then open the Web App the same UTC dayActive day 1
19–20 SeptRepeat: three full matches + app loginActive day 2 — the fast-track unlock point
20 Sept onwardsTrade. If still locked, hold the pattern to day 4The 4-day bucket applies if any other UT account has used your device
24 Sept 23:00 UTC / 25 SeptPC unlock, then global releaseStandard Edition arrives; the market fills and early margins compress

If you want the market itself to make you money once it opens, the launch-week method breakdown is in our FC 27 trading guide, and the squad you should be aiming that budget at is in the FC 27 starter team guide.

One community note from this week's threads, paraphrased rather than quoted: players are advising each other to disable automatic app-store updates so the FC 26 Companion App keeps working after the apps flip over to FC 27. That trick keeps the old title usable — it does nothing for FC 27 market access and creates no active days on your FC 27 club. Treat it as an FC 26 endgame tip, not an FC 27 unlock. And none of your FC 26 coins come with you either; what does arrive is the labelled carryover package, in October rather than on day one — full breakdown in our FC 27 carryover rewards guide.

FAQ

Why is my FC 27 Transfer Market locked when my friend's is open? Almost always because one of you is an eligible returning player in good standing and the other is not, or because more than one Ultimate Team account has been used on your device. EA lists device account count as a direct input into how long app access takes — its own example is 2 active days for a sole account versus at least 4 when it is not the only UT account on that device.

Does completing Graduated Access unlock the Web App? No. EA states directly that "Completing Graduated Access doesn't automatically unlock access on the Web and Companion apps." Graduated Access clears the in-game market; the apps are earned separately through active days.

How long does the FC 27 Transfer Market take to unlock? For the in-game market after finishing the Foundations Objective Groups: 48 hours on PC, within 24 hours on every other platform. For the Web and Companion Apps: normally 2 active days for a clean sole account, at least 4 if other Ultimate Team accounts have used the device. These are EA's published FC 26 figures — no FC 27 version exists yet.

Do I have to play more than three matches a day to unlock faster? No, and it is explicitly pointless. EA states that "Playing more than three matches per day won't increase your chances of unlocking the Transfer Market." Three full matches plus a Web or Companion App login inside the same UTC day is the whole requirement.

Can EA support unlock my Transfer Market? No. EA's Web and Companion Apps help article says "Our advisors can't grant access to the EAS FC Transfer Market or tell you when you'll get access." The only exception is a blocked account, where the route is the appeal process described in the email EA sends to your EA Account address.

Will my FC 26 Transfer Market ban follow me into FC 27? Based on EA's FC 25 → FC 26 documentation, a title-specific market ban does not transfer, but you lose the returning-player skip and must earn access again. A franchise ban does carry across titles and continues to affect market access. EA has not published the FC 26 → FC 27 version, so treat this as expected behaviour.
