Quick answer (25 October 2026, Patch 2.2.16a, Season 42 "Starward Decade"): the items that show up in the most curated MLBB hero builds right now are Dominance Ice (2,010 gold), War Axe (2,100), Hunter Strike (2,010), Glowing Wand (2,050) and Fleeting Time (2,050). Those five appear in 42, 39, 32, 29 and 25 of mlbbhub's curated hero builds respectively. Neither Season 42 patch touched equipment: Patch 2.2.16 (16 September) and Patch 2.2.16a (14 October) were hero, battlefield and system changes only, so the last item-wide rebalance is still Patch 2.1.88 from June 2026. The short version of how to build: one pair of boots, one item that solves your role's main problem, then counter-items picked against the enemy draft.
Two threads on r/MobileLegendsGame today sum up how players actually think about items. One asks for your best Thunder Belt stack count, and the replies range from "80+ on sun" to a few hundred on Masha. The other is a long attack-speed experiment on Dyrroth that ends with a practical takeaway: "golden staff doubles the skill cd reduction that happens during circle strike" (r/MobileLegendsGame, 25 October 2026). Items in this game are a puzzle you solve every match, and that matters more than any fixed build. This guide covers which items do the heavy lifting for each role, what they cost, and when to swap them.
How do items work in Mobile Legends?
Every hero carries six equipment slots. Items come in three tiers. Tier 1 items are the cheap building blocks, Tier 2 items combine them, and Tier 3 finished items are what you actually build towards. Each finished item costs its components plus a combine fee. Thunder Belt, for example, is Ares Belt (700) + Leather Jerkin (220) + Magic Resist Cloak (220) + a 680-gold combine fee = 1,820 gold.
The shop sorts items into Attack, Magic, Defense, Movement, Jungling and Roaming. mlbbhub's item database lists 104 entries in total, counting components, boots, blessings and team-specific special items. The two most expensive items in the shop are Blade of Despair (3,010 gold) and Holy Crystal (3,000). Both are pure-damage spikes that you buy when you're already ahead or about to close the game.
A few item types follow their own rules:
- Boots are a separate Movement category, and almost every build buys exactly one pair. They're cheap (690–750 gold) and should be finished early.
- Jungling items are the Retribution upgrades: Flame, Ice and Bloody Retribution. Only the jungler buys one, and it upgrades as you clear creeps and take kills.
- Roaming items (Conceal, Encourage, Favor and Dire Hit) are blessings for the support player. For the first 8 minutes, the holder earns 45% extra gold and EXP from assists and passes gold or EXP to the lowest-earning ally. Once the blessing has earned 600 gold, its effect unlocks. Conceal is an active you trigger; Encourage, Favor and Dire Hit work passively.
- Potions (Power, Magic and Rock Potion, 1,500 gold each) are late-game consumables. Each one is used the moment you buy it and buffs you for 120 seconds.
"Every 4 seconds, the next Basic Attack deals 50 (+100% Total Physical Defense) (+100% Total Magic Defense) extra True Damage to the target and enemies around them, and briefly slows them by 99%. Hybrid Defense permanently increases by 1 each time the attack hits an enemy hero." That's Thunder Belt's passive text as listed on mlbbhub's item page, which mirrors the in-game description. The permanent defense gain is why stack screenshots exist at all.
Which MLBB items show up in the most builds?
mlbbhub keeps a curated build library for the hero roster, last refreshed 19 October 2026. Counting how many heroes "core" each item gives a usable read on what the current shop revolves around. These are editorial-build counts, not match pick rates. Here's the top of that list:
| Item | Category | Cost | Heroes that core it | Built for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dominance Ice | Defense | 2,010 | 42 | Tanks, roamers, frontline fighters |
| War Axe | Attack | 2,100 | 39 | Fighters and junglers |
| Hunter Strike | Attack | 2,010 | 32 | Fighters, assassins, burst marksmen |
| Glowing Wand | Magic | 2,050 | 29 | Mages, magic fighters, supports |
| Fleeting Time | Attack/Magic/Defense | 2,050 | 25 | Supports and ultimate-reliant mages |
| Thunder Belt | Defense | 1,820 | 24 | Tanks and tank-fighters |
| Oracle | Defense | 1,860 | 24 | Sustain frontliners |
| Demon Hunter Sword | Attack | 2,180 | 23 | On-hit marksmen and fighters |
| Genius Wand | Magic | 2,000 | 23 | Burst mages and magic assassins |
| Holy Crystal | Magic | 3,000 | 23 | Burst mages |
| Corrosion Scythe | Attack | 2,050 | 22 | Attack-speed marksmen |
| Enchanted Talisman | Magic | 2,070 | 22 | Cooldown mages and supports |
| Queen's Wings | Defense | 2,250 | 21 | Sustain fighters |
Treat this as "what good builds are made of", not as a ranked tier list. Dominance Ice tops the list because it's useful to the largest number of heroes, not because it's the strongest item in the shop. Costs and passives in this guide come from mlbbhub's item database, which is sourced from Liquipedia and corrected against patch notes.
What are the best items for marksmen?
Marksman builds split into two families, and you should pick one early.
Crit builds run Windtalker (1,880) into Berserker's Fury (2,390). Berserker's Fury was reworked in Patch 2.1.88. Crits now deal extra True Damage equal to 12% of the damage before reduction, and the item's Physical Attack dropped from 65 to 60 (it still gives 25% crit chance). Layla, Miya, Irithel and Roger all use this route in mlbbhub's builds.
Attack-effect builds lean on Demon Hunter Sword (2,180), Corrosion Scythe (2,050) and Golden Staff (2,000). Demon Hunter Sword's basic attacks deal 8% of the target's current HP as extra physical damage, which is what melts tanks. Golden Staff makes every third basic attack trigger attack effects two extra times. That's the interaction behind today's Dyrroth experiment, and it's why Claude, Karrie, Hanabi and Beatrix use it. If you're on a hero whose passive cares about attack effects, Golden Staff is usually better than its raw stats suggest.
Finishers. Blade of Despair (3,010) gives 160 Physical Attack, the most of any item. It's the burst capstone for Lesley, Brody, Granger and Beatrix. Malefic Roar (2,060) and Malefic Gun (2,120) handle armor. Roar gives up to 30% penetration that scales with the target's physical defense, while Gun gives a flat 30% plus 12% extra attack range. Against a tanky draft, one of them belongs in the last three slots. Our Lesley build guide shows how a full six-item burst build (12,610 gold) comes together.
Defensive slot. Wind of Nature (1,910) makes a marksman immune to physical damage for 2 seconds, and that duration is halved on any other role. It's the answer to a fed physical burst carry such as Granger. It won't save you from Lesley, though, because her Lethal Shot deals True Damage, which physical immunity doesn't block.
What are the best items for fighters and junglers?
War Axe (2,100) is the fighter item of Season 42. It gives 400 HP, 35 Physical Attack, 8% spell vamp and 10% cooldown reduction. Its Fighting Spirit stacks add up to 72 bonus Physical Attack over a sustained fight, plus 10% True Damage at full stacks. Marksmen, Mages and Supports only get 50% of the stacked effects. Aldous, Alpha, Alucard, Aulus, Balmond and Barats all core it.
Hunter Strike (2,010) is the burst alternative. It gives 80 Physical Attack, 15 physical penetration and 10% cooldown reduction, plus a 50% movement speed burst after five consecutive hits on a hero or creep, on an 8-second cooldown. Pick it when your hero needs to stick to a target rather than trade blows.
Queen's Wings (2,250) is the survival item for bruisers. It gives 30% damage reduction for 3 seconds when you drop below 40% HP, and up to 15% extra damage as your HP falls. Dyrroth, Lapu-Lapu, Freya and Paquito run it.
Blade of the Heptaseas (1,950) suits assassins who open from fog. If you haven't dealt or taken damage for 5 seconds, your next basic attack deals 160 + 40% Physical Attack and slows by 40%. Our Fanny build guide shows how it pairs with Malefic Roar on a jungler.
For anti-heal on physical heroes, Sea Halberd (2,050) cuts the target's shields and HP regen to 60% for 3 seconds. It also deals 8% more damage to heroes with more extra HP than you.
What are the best items for mages?
Mage builds are more standardised than any other role. Most start with one mana or cooldown item, add penetration, and finish with burst.
- Enchanted Talisman (2,070): 75 Magic Power, 15% cooldown reduction, and it raises your max cooldown reduction by 5%. Spam mages and supports start here, including Cyclops, Kagura, Lunox and Faramis.
- Genius Wand (2,000): 75 Magic Power, 10 flat magic penetration and a stacking magic defense shred. It's the early penetration item for burst heroes such as Aamon, Gusion, Eudora and Harley.
- Glowing Wand (2,050): a burn worth 1.5% of the target's max HP per second, plus magic anti-heal that halves shields and HP regen for 3 seconds. It's the most-cored pure magic item in mlbbhub's builds, and it's the answer to Estes, Floryn and Angela comps.
- Divine Glaive (1,970): 60 Magic Power and 40% magic penetration, plus up to 20% more that scales with the target's magic defense. Buy it third or later, once the enemy has bought magic defense.
- Holy Crystal (3,000): 165 Magic Power plus 21–35% bonus Magic Power that scales with level. It's the most expensive magic item and the biggest late-game damage spike.
- Winter Crown (1,910): freezes you for 2 seconds. You're untargetable and immune to damage, but you can't move or cast. It's on a 100-second cooldown, and it's the anti-dive pick for 17 squishy heroes in mlbbhub's builds, from Aurora to Zhask.
Mages that rely on their ultimate (Aurora, Eudora and Faramis in mlbbhub's builds) often add Fleeting Time, because every kill or assist cuts the ultimate's remaining cooldown by 30%. Our Kagura build guide shows a cooldown-mage build in full.
What are the best tank and support items?
Dominance Ice (2,010) is the most-cored item in mlbbhub's builds. It gives 40 physical and 40 magic defense, plus up to 40 more hybrid defense when enemy heroes are close. It also has an anti-heal aura that drops nearby enemies' shields and regen to 60%. Any frontliner facing sustain should consider it.
Thunder Belt (1,820) turns defense into damage. Its basic attack proc scales with 100% of both your physical and magic defense, slows by 99%, and grows your hybrid defense by 1 every time it hits a hero. That's where the Reddit stack screenshots come from. One misconception in that thread is worth correcting. Thunder Belt isn't halved for "non-fighters and tanks". The in-game text says the effect is reduced to 50% for Marksmen and Mages, so roaming supports and fighter-tanks get the full effect. Edith, Arlott, Badang, Khaleed, Minsitthar and Masha core it. Our Edith build guide explains why it carries her.
One naming note before the table: the magic-defense item long known as Athena's Shield is now called Valkyrie's Shield in-game. Same icon, same passive. Some databases, including Liquipedia and mlbbhub, still list the old name.
Pick the next defense item for the damage you're actually taking:
| Threat | Item | Cost | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical skill damage | Antique Cuirass | 2,170 | 920 HP, 40 physical defense, cuts the attacker's physical damage by 6% per skill hit (up to 3 stacks) |
| Basic-attack marksmen | Blade Armor | 1,910 | 70 physical defense, hits basic attackers back for 30% of the incoming damage plus 20% of your physical defense |
| Magic burst | Valkyrie's Shield | 2,150 | 900 HP, 48 magic defense, 25% magic damage reduction on hit |
| Sustained magic damage | Radiant Armor | 1,880 | 950 HP, stacking magic defense while taking magic damage |
| Healers and shields on your side | Oracle | 1,860 | Shields and HP regen you receive are 25% stronger |
| Getting focused in teamfights | Immortality | 2,120 | Revives you 2.5s after death with a shield (210s cooldown) |
For supports, the roaming blessing matters more than any single item. Favor adds healing to heal and shield skills. Encourage buffs nearby allies' attack. Conceal hides your team for engages. Dire Hit builds Force while you move and spends it on a big hit. Dire Hit was reworked in Patch 2.1.88 and no longer has a low-HP execute. Flask of the Oasis (1,850) and Fleeting Time are the usual completed items for Angela, Estes, Floryn and Carmilla.
Which boots should you buy?
| Boots | Cost | Bonus | Buy it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tough Boots | 700 | 18 magic defense, CC and slow duration reduced by 30% | The enemy has heavy crowd control. This is the default for most fighters and tanks |
| Warrior Boots | 720 | 18 physical defense, up to 20 more while taking physical damage | The enemy damage is mostly physical |
| Magic Boots | 710 | 10% cooldown reduction | You're a mage or support built around skills |
| Arcane Boots | 690 | 10 flat magic penetration | You're a burst mage in lane |
| Swift Boots | 710 | 15% attack speed | You're a marksman or attack-speed fighter |
| Rapid Boots | 750 | 55 movement speed, 35% slow reduction | You need to roam or chase across the map |
| Demon Boots | 720 | 10 mana regen, 4% mana on minion kills and assists | You're a mana-hungry laner |
Rapid Boots were adjusted in Patch 2.1.88 (movement speed 65 to 55, and their downside passive removed). They're a real option for roamers now, not a trap.
How do you counter healing, armor and burst with items?
This is where most ranked games are won or lost, and it's what the build screen won't tell you:
- Enemy is healing (Estes, Floryn, Angela, Alucard, sustain fighters): physical heroes buy Sea Halberd, magic heroes buy Glowing Wand, and frontliners buy Dominance Ice. One anti-heal item per team member who can apply it is usually enough. You don't need three on the same hero.
- Enemy stacked armor: Malefic Roar or Malefic Gun for physical damage, and Divine Glaive for magic. Percentage penetration gets stronger the more defense the enemy has bought, so it pays off most as a third item or later. Flat penetration (Arcane Boots, Genius Wand) and defense shred are the early-game options.
- Enemy is pure physical burst: Antique Cuirass, Blade Armor against marksmen, and Wind of Nature on a marksman.
- Enemy is magic burst: Valkyrie's Shield first, then Radiant Armor if the damage is sustained.
- You keep getting dived as a squishy hero: Winter Crown on mages, and Wind of Nature on marksmen.
- Heavy crowd control: Tough Boots, and Brute Force Breastplate (1,870), which adds 15% extra control duration reduction at full stacks.
Our emblem guide and battle spells guide cover the other two parts of a loadout that change with the draft.
Did Season 42 change any items?
No, not on the live game. Patch 2.2.16 shipped Season 42 with two hero reworks (Masha and Bruno), balance changes and the Sanctum Island map overhaul, and its notes contain no equipment section. Patch 2.2.16a on 14 October was hero adjustments only. Our full 2.2.16a patch notes breakdown covers every line. The last broad item pass was Patch 2.1.88 (17 June 2026), which reworked Berserker's Fury and Dire Hit, nerfed Rapid Boots and changed how roaming blessings share gold.
Item changes do get tested on the Advance Server, the test client that runs ahead of the live game. Those changes aren't live, often ship in a different form, and sometimes never ship at all. Every number in this guide is from the live Original Server.

FAQ
What is the best item in Mobile Legends right now? There isn't a single best item, because every role builds differently. By how many heroes use it in Patch 2.2.16a, the top items are Dominance Ice (42 heroes in mlbbhub's builds), War Axe (39) and Hunter Strike (32). For damage alone, Blade of Despair (160 Physical Attack) and Holy Crystal (165 Magic Power plus a level-scaling bonus) hit hardest.
How many items can you have in MLBB? Six. Most builds use one slot for boots and the other five for core and counter items, often swapping one late for Immortality, Winter Crown or Wind of Nature. Late in the game, potions add a temporary 120-second buff on top of a full build.
Does Thunder Belt work on mages and marksmen? It works, but its effect is reduced to 50% for Marksmen and Mages, according to the in-game item text. Tanks, fighters and supports get the full True Damage proc, slow and permanent hybrid defense stacks.
What item reduces healing in MLBB? Sea Halberd for physical heroes, Glowing Wand for magic heroes, and Dominance Ice for tanks and frontliners. Sea Halberd and Dominance Ice reduce shields and HP regen to 60% of normal. Glowing Wand cuts them by 50%.
Should I buy Immortality or Winter Crown? Winter Crown is an active you time yourself. You're untargetable for 2 seconds, on a 100-second cooldown, so it suits mages that get dived. Immortality is passive. It revives you 2.5 seconds after death on a 210-second cooldown, so it suits frontliners and late-game carries the enemy focuses down.
Is Athena's Shield still in Mobile Legends? Yes, under a new name. It's now called Valkyrie's Shield, with the same icon and the same 25% magic damage reduction passive. Older guides and some item databases still use the Athena's Shield name.
Are Advance Server item changes live? No. The Advance Server is a separate test client. Item changes there aren't in ranked until they ship in an Original Server patch, and many change or get dropped first. As of 25 October 2026, the live patch is 2.2.16a, and it changed no items.
