Quick answer
NBA 2K27 has 600 Lifetime Challenges spread across 19 sections, and completing them climbs a 21-rung reward ladder that tops out at 5,000,000 VC. On the way you get two Cap Breakers (at 200 and 400 challenges), two GOAT Builds (Anthony Edwards at 300, Wilt Chamberlain at 350), Badge Accelerators, an extra Badge loadout, the Dash 2K II speed shoes and 500,000 VC at 500. Progress is account-wide, so it counts for every MyPLAYER you make and doesn't reset when a new Season starts. The fastest way to begin is to clear the 54 low-effort picks (43 of them solo in a session or two: MyCOURT, Learn 2K, menu visits, Gatorade, The Track), then let the daily systems tick over while you play your normal modes.
Everything below applies to NBA 2K27 Season 2 (from October 16, 2026), checked October 25, 2026 against the NBA2KLab tracker and 2K's own Season 2 material.
Key numbers at a glance:
- 600 Lifetime Challenges in 19 sections, the largest being Crews (65), Rec (61) and Park (56)
- 21 reward rungs: 2 Cap Breakers, 2 GOAT Builds, 3 Badge Accelerators, 500,000 VC at 500 challenges, plus 5,000,000 VC at 600
- 54 low-effort challenges, 43 of them solo in a session or two
- 200 challenges for the first Cap Breaker, the rung r/NBA2k flagged as the first real wall
What are Lifetime Challenges in NBA 2K27?
Lifetime Challenges are long-term goals that track everything you do across The City, MyCOURT, the Gatorade Training Facility and the online modes for the whole life of NBA 2K27. They aren't the same as the Season reward track (that's Levels 1–40, and it resets each Season) or the REP ladder. The Lifetime count is a single number on your account, and every 10, 20, 50 or 100 challenges it pays out a reward.
They also feed Player Medals, the badges you show off in pre-game intros and lobbies. 2K described the system at the August 18 reveal (2K Newsroom): medals are "earned by completing Lifetime Challenges or reaching stat milestones," with "nearly 300 unique medals to unlock across five tiers, from Beginner all the way up to Elite & Mastery." So many challenges give you a medal as well as moving you up the ladder, and unlocking medals is itself a set of challenges (nine Beginner/Skilled/Advanced medal rungs in General, plus an Expert and a Mastery medal in each of the eight big online sections).
In Season 2 they also unlock builds. 2K's October 14 Season 2 announcement says: "Players can earn even more GOAT Builds through REP and Lifetime Challenges." That's why this list matters more now than it did at launch.
What are all the Lifetime Challenge rewards?
There are 21 rungs. Rewards are claimed once per account, not once per build.
| Challenges | Reward |
|---|---|
| 10 | Challenge Hunter Banner |
| 20 | 20 Skill Boosts |
| 30 | 20 Gatorade Boosts |
| 40 | Grey Tattooed Body Mod |
| 50 | Defense Badge Accelerator |
| 60 | Extra Badge Loadout |
| 70 | Animating Oversized Tee |
| 80 | Finishing Badge Accelerator |
| 90 | Black Hazmat Suit |
| 100 | White and Black Hoodies for the REC |
| 120 | Flame Glider |
| 140 | Blue Emissive Tiki Mask |
| 160 | Playmaking Badge Accelerator |
| 180 | Gold Cyborg Head |
| 200 | +1 Cap Breaker |
| 250 | Dash 2K II (2X Speed) icy shoes |
| 300 | Anthony Edwards GOAT Build |
| 350 | Wilt Chamberlain GOAT Build |
| 400 | +1 Cap Breaker |
| 500 | 500,000 VC |
| 600 | 5,000,000 VC |
A note on 300 and 350: the NBA2KLab tracker still shows both as "Coming Season 2: a new MyPLAYER Builder feature." That feature is GOAT Builds. The Season 2 Courtside Report, as cited by goatbuilds.wiki and matched by lockercodes, puts Edwards at 300 and Wilt at 350. They're the only two GOATs you unlock through Lifetime Challenges. Of the 18 GOAT Builds, 8 are available immediately, 3 unlock on the Season 2 reward track (Magic Johnson, Dirk Nowitzki, Young Kobe), 5 through REP (Ray Allen, Hakeem Olajuwon, Derrick Rose, Michael Jordan, LeBron James) and these 2 through Lifetime Challenges. We broke down the Edwards build in our Anthony Edwards GOAT Build guide, and the full roster is in every NBA 2K27 GOAT Build and how to unlock it.
How many Lifetime Challenges are in each section?
| Section | Challenges | What they ask for |
|---|---|---|
| Crews | 65 | Crew XP (250 up to 40,000), Crew Divisional 3v3/5v5 wins, stat games |
| Rec | 61 | Wins (1–500), points/assists/rebounds totals, Player of the Game |
| Park | 56 | 2v2/3v3 wins, win streaks, beating the Park MVP |
| Triple Threat Park | 49 | Head-to-head, 2v2 and 3v3 wins, single-game stat lines |
| Proving Grounds | 46 | 1v1/2v2/3v3 wins, tier climbs from Silver to Diamond |
| Starting 5 | 45 | Wins, Boards, VIP status, beating All-Time teams with Modern |
| Ante-Up | 42 | 1v1/2v2/3v3 wins, streaks, stat totals |
| MyPLAYER | 33 | OVR milestones (65 → 99), Synergy, Takeover unlocks, Cap Breakers |
| General | 33 | Season levels, squads, 2KTV, medals, menu visits |
| Theater | 32 | Wins and single-game stat lines |
| Daily Rivals | 29 | Entries, Top 25/10/3/1 finishes, streaks |
| Street Kings | 19 | Rucker tournaments, bosses, Teammate Trials, Shut It Downs |
| The Track | 16 | Races, target times, laps (10 → 250) |
| Learn 2K | 14 | Tutorials and mini-game stars |
| Daily Challenges | 14 | Completed dailies (10 → 500), full-day sweeps |
| MyCOURT | 14 | Customising and playing the mini-modes |
| Daily Login | 12 | Daily Reward streaks and totals (up to 300) |
| Daily Pick 'Em | 12 | Predictions, up to 400 correct |
| Gatorade Training Facility | 8 | Workouts, stars, Stamina 99, court wins |
That's 600 exactly. Three things stand out:
- Two-thirds of the list is online modes (Crews, Rec, Park, Triple Threat Park, Proving Grounds, Starting 5, Ante-Up, Theater). Of 600, 396 come from those eight sections, so you can't reach 600 playing offline.
- The top rungs inside each section are built to take all year. "Score 42,000 Points in Rec games" and "Grab 23,000 Rebounds in Crew Divisional games" aren't things you finish in a Season.
- Daily systems are free progress. Daily Login (12), Daily Challenges (14) and Daily Pick 'Em (12) add up to 38 challenges that mostly need you to turn up. The Pick 'Em kiosk had a rough start this season. If it's stuck on "games in progress", see our Daily Pick 'Em fix.
What are the easiest Lifetime Challenges in NBA 2K27?
We sorted the full list on the NBA2KLab tracker into 54 low-effort picks: no win streaks, no stat totals, nothing that takes weeks. 43 of them you can do solo in a session or two. The other 11 need something first (a squad, a Crew, some VC on your build, or a Cap Breaker you've already earned). Clearing them gets you past the 50-challenge rung (Defense Badge Accelerator). One r/NBA2k player summed up the same approach: they "completed a lot of easy ones like street kings the track learn 2k my Court the whole list."
Solo, one or two sessions (43):
- MyCOURT (13): equip a new court floor, basket stanchion and wall mural; invite an NBA player; play a 1v1, a 2v2, H-O-R-S-E, Rebound Domination and Knockout; win a game of H-O-R-S-E and of Knockout; turn on Unlimited Stamina and Unlimited Takeover
- Learn 2K (6): enter the Intermediate Tutorial; complete 1, 3 and 5 advanced moves in the Advanced Tutorial; complete a mini-game; get 3 stars in Level 1 mini-games
- MyPLAYER (5): equip a Synergy Fuse slot; claim an animation from the Animation Store; create a jump shot in the Jump Shot Creator; create a dunk style in the Dunk Style Creator; equip that dunk style
- General (3): visit the Equipment menu; visit the REP Rewards menu; visit all 15 stores in The City
- Gatorade Training Facility (4): do every workout once; get 4 stars in a single workout; get an Excellent Workout Session; win one game on the Gatorade courts
- The Track (4): complete 10 and 25 laps; complete a Survivor Race; beat the target time 5 times
- Park (2): enter Spectator Mode; view the Streak Breaker Kiosk
- Singles (6): answer one 2KTV question; play a tournament at Rucker Park in Street Kings; make a prediction at the Daily Pick 'Em kiosk; complete all 3 Daily Challenges in one day; open a pack from the Showcase Spot in Triple Threat Park; score 10 points in a Rec game
Low-effort, but with a prerequisite (11):
- Need VC on a build (2): upgrade a MyPLAYER to 65 and to 70 Overall
- Need an earned Cap Breaker (1): apply a Cap Breaker
- Need Season XP (1): reach Level 10 in a Season
- Need a squad (4): join a squad; play a game in a squad; win a game in a squad; play a Rec game in a squad
- Need a Crew (3): join or create a Crew; equip a Crew clothing item; play a game wearing it
After those, the best effort-to-progress are the low rungs of the stat sections. Almost every online mode has "Score 10 points in a single game", "Grab 5 rebounds", "Dish out 5 assists" and "Complete a game with 0 turnovers". Most come with a "5 times" version as well. A big man in Theater or Proving Grounds gets the rebound ones as a matter of course, and a guard gets the assist ones.
How do you get to 200 Lifetime Challenges for the first Cap Breaker?
200 is where it slows down. When the 200 rung was first spotted in late August, the r/NBA2k thread reacted right away ("200? Wow... they really screwed the community"), and one player pointed out that NBA 2K26's Dash shoes came at 150. 2K27's ladder is longer: the shoes are at 250, and the first Cap Breaker sits at 200.
Here's a starting strategy from zero. It isn't a counted path to exactly 200, but it's the order that moves the number fastest:
- Day one: the 43 solo picks above, plus whichever of the other 11 you can. The 43 alone put you in the 40s, and a handful of the other 11 takes you past the 50 rung.
- First two to three weeks: the daily systems. Log in daily (3, 7 and 14-day streaks; 5 and 15 claims), clear all 3 Daily Challenges (10 and 25 total; 3 and 7-day sweeps), and make your Pick 'Em picks. That adds roughly 15.
- Season levels. "Reach Level 20/30/40 in a Season" add three more General challenges (Level 10 is already in the low-effort list). If you're working the Season 2 track anyway, our fastest-XP Season 2 levelling guide covers it.
- MyPLAYER growth. OVR 75, 80 and 85, Takeover discipline unlocks, and Synergy slots 4 and 8 come naturally as a build matures.
- Pick two online modes and play them properly. Low win counts (1, 5 and 10 wins) plus single-game stat lines across two modes add 30–40 challenges on their own. Spreading thin across seven modes is slower than going deep in two.
- Street Kings and The Track mid-tiers. Ten bosses, ten Teammate Trials and 50 laps are solo-friendly.
The second Cap Breaker at 400 is a long-term goal for most players. Lifetime Challenges are just one of several Cap Breaker sources, though: the Season track, Build Specialization quests, Crew levels and REP milestones all give them too. Our Cap Breakers count guide lists them all, and the REP guide covers the REP rungs.
Do Lifetime Challenges reset each Season or carry over between builds?
No to the first, yes to the second. The NBA2KLab tracker states it outright: "Rewards are cumulative across the account, not per build." Hoops Gamers says they "don't reset after each NBA 2K27 Season." A few challenges are actually tied to Season events (for example "Collect your Daily Reward on the first day of a new Season"), but the count itself only goes up.
Two catches:
- Cap Breakers are permanent once applied. 2K Support says an applied Cap Breaker can't be moved, so decide which build and attribute get it before you spend it.
- It doesn't carry to the next game. Lifetime progress lasts for NBA 2K27, and 2K27 progress doesn't move into future titles. That's the most common complaint on r/NBA2k: a huge grind for a game that resets every year.
Why is a Lifetime Challenge not tracking?
Here are the patterns players have reported since launch:
- Crew challenges after joining through the app: fixed in Update 2.0. At launch, 2KDispatch reported that the "Join or Create a Crew" Lifetime Challenge "may not track if you joined your Crew through NBA 2K HQ." 2K's Update 2.0 patch notes (October 8) fixed it: "Crew Challenges will now be correctly completed if the crew was first joined via the NBA 2K HQ app." Make sure your game is updated. Don't leave and rejoin your Crew to force it: one player who did never got back the Crew XP they'd already contributed.
- Delayed counters, not lost ones. One player watched the Crew XP tracker show 992 after passing 1,000. The challenge popped as soon as they played another online game. "Obviously offline doesn't contribute, so it was probably some sort of delay." Play one more online game before you assume it's broken.
- Online sections only count online games. Rec, Park, Crew and Theater challenges need online matches. MyCOURT and Learn 2K don't need an online opponent, but stay connected to 2K's servers so the progress registers.
- "Open a pack from the Showcase Spot in Triple Threat Park." Some r/NBA2k players have asked why this one doesn't complete. The challenge names the Showcase Spot specifically, so open the pack there rather than from a menu. 2K hasn't posted a fix note for it, so if it still doesn't pop, leave it and check again after the next patch.
If a counter is genuinely stuck after a few online games, report it through NBA 2K Support. Don't delete your build or leave your Crew to "reset" it.
Are Lifetime Challenges worth grinding?
Up to 200, yes, for most players. The Defense, Finishing and Playmaking Badge Accelerators, the extra Badge Loadout and the 200 Cap Breaker all make your build better, and most of that range comes from low-effort picks and daily habits.
From 200 to 400, it depends on your build. Edwards (300) is the reason to push if you want the only GOAT that combines 90+ three-point with 95+ Driving Dunk (per NBA2KLab's GOAT ratings). The 400 Cap Breaker is the other.
From 400 to 600, only if you play a lot. 500,000 VC at 500 and 5,000,000 VC at 600 are huge. Together that's 5.5 million VC. But the last 100 means maxing out the heavy online sections, and many players won't get there before NBA 2K28. Grind toward it if it happens through modes you already play, not as a goal for its own sake.

FAQ
How many Lifetime Challenges are in NBA 2K27? There are 600, split across 19 sections: Crews 65, Rec 61, Park 56, Triple Threat Park 49, Proving Grounds 46, Starting 5 45, Ante-Up 42, MyPLAYER 33, General 33, Theater 32, Daily Rivals 29, Street Kings 19, The Track 16, Learn 2K 14, Daily Challenges 14, MyCOURT 14, Daily Login 12, Daily Pick 'Em 12 and Gatorade 8.
What do you get for 600 Lifetime Challenges in NBA 2K27? 5,000,000 VC. That's the last of 21 rungs. 500 challenges gives 500,000 VC, so the top two rungs add up to 5.5 million VC.
How many Cap Breakers do Lifetime Challenges give? Two, one at 200 challenges and one at 400. Each is applied to a single MyPLAYER's attributes.
Which GOAT Builds come from Lifetime Challenges? Anthony Edwards at 300 and Wilt Chamberlain at 350. They're the only two GOATs unlocked through Lifetime Challenges. Of the other 16, eight are available immediately, three come from the Season 2 reward track and five from REP.
Do NBA 2K27 Lifetime Challenges reset in Season 2? No. They're account-wide and cumulative, so they don't reset between Seasons and they count across every MyPLAYER on your account.
Do Lifetime Challenges count offline? Not reliably. The Rec, Park, Crew, Theater, Proving Grounds and Ante-Up challenges are online modes, so they need online games. MyCOURT, Learn 2K and menu or creator challenges don't need an online opponent, but play while connected to 2K's servers so they register on your account.
