Quick answer
The Track is NBA 2K27's indoor go-kart and bike warehouse next to the Gatorade facility in The City. Every week it gets a new course and a Race of the Week quest: beat the target time and you get that week's prize. On top of that, 2K lists four modes. Matchmaking pays 200 VC, winning a Survivor race pays 500 VC, and every Friday 2K hands 1,000,000 VC to the top performers for the week's best time and most Survivor wins, after a manual review. Vs. Friends and Vs. Friend's Ghost have no VC listed. For most players, though, The Track is worth it for the 16 Lifetime Challenges it holds, and a target-time trick turns three of them into a quick job. This guide applies to NBA 2K27 Season 2 (from October 16, 2026) on Update 2.0, checked October 26, 2026.
- Where: The City, the karting warehouse near the Gatorade Training Facility
- Weekly quest: Quests/Challenges > City Challenges > Weekly Races > Race of the Week
- VC: 200 (Matchmaking), 500 (Survivor win), 1,000,000 (weekly #1)
- Lifetime Challenges: 16 of the game's 600
What is The Track in NBA 2K27?
2K's own support article, "NBA 2K: The Track and Race of the Week" (last updated August 26, 2026), describes it in one line:
"The Track is an indoor karting warehouse near the Gatorade facility that features elaborate race tracks for bikes and go-karts. Every week there will be a new track along with a weekly quest to try to beat a target time to earn prizes."
It's a side activity, not a basketball mode. You race a kart or bike around a short indoor circuit, usually three laps. The course rotates weekly, so a time you set on one layout says nothing about the next.
Two things changed from earlier games, and both matter if you're coming back from 2K25. First, 2K27 courses have obstacles, including wooden crates that stop you dead if you clip them. Second, players remember a flat weekly VC payout for beating the target time in 2K25. One r/NBA2k reply put it plainly: "Haven't played this since 25. Once they took out the weekly 2500 vc I stopped doing it." 2K's 2K27 article only promises "prizes" for the weekly quest, without naming a VC amount, so don't count on it as a VC source.
What does each Track mode pay?
Here's every mode 2K lists, with the reward it names. Everything in the VC column comes straight from 2K's support article.
| Mode | How it works | Reward 2K lists |
|---|---|---|
| Race of the Week | Beat the week's target time on the new course | That week's quest prize |
| Matchmaking | Race other players | 200 VC |
| Vs. Friends | Race 2 friends for the fastest time | None listed |
| Vs. Friend's Ghost | Race your friend's fastest time | None listed |
| Survivor (new in 2K27) | Battle-royale race, last place eliminated every two laps | 500 VC to the winner |
| Weekly top spot | Best weekly time and most Survivor wins | 1,000,000 VC, granted manually each Friday |
2K's wording for Matchmaking is "race against fellow players to earn 200 VC". It doesn't say whether that's per race or per win, so check your VC balance after your first Matchmaking race before you plan a grind around it.
Survivor is the only mode 2K calls "new for NBA 2K27". Last place drops out every two laps until one racer is left, and the winner takes 500 VC. Two Lifetime Challenges sit here too: one for completing a Survivor race and one for winning one.
Can you actually win the 1,000,000 VC?
Realistically, no, unless racing is your main hobby. The leaderboard in the screenshot at the top of this page shows the top five on one weekly course all inside 1:35–1:38, while the player who captured it finished in 1:52. That's roughly 15 seconds off the pace on a sub-two-minute race.
2K's support article explains how the prize is paid:
"Every Friday, the top performers for the weekly best time and most Survivor wins are confirmed and the reward of 1,000,000 VC is granted manually."
It also warns that the leaderboard can lag behind real times, that "everyone's performance is being reviewed fairly behind the scenes", and that breaking the Code of Conduct for fair play makes you ineligible. If you finished first and didn't get paid, 2K's position is that you weren't deemed the eligible winner that week.
The community is split on the top times. One player argues "the top guys aren't cheating, they just know how to do it and they literally spend hundreds of hours racing," chaining drifts to hold momentum. Others are convinced it's glitches. Either way, the 1M VC goes to a handful of specialists each week. Treat The Track as a challenge farm, not a VC farm. If VC is the goal, our guide to earning VC fast in NBA 2K27 covers the routes that actually add up.
How do you find and beat the Race of the Week?
The weekly quest lives in your challenge menu, not at The Track itself. Per Nux Game Guides, open Quests/Challenges > City Challenges > Weekly Races, then Race of the Week. The current week's entry shows the target and the prize.
The prize changes week to week. In Week 4 it was the Bootcamp Drift Trike, a camo trike you can ride around The City. That week's race was three laps with a 2:20.000 target. Nux finished in 2:18.614 with a 44.514-second best lap. A 2:20 total works out to about 46.6 seconds a lap, so you can afford one messy lap if the other two are clean.
Reward vehicles don't equip themselves. To use one: pause, open MyPLAYER > Equipment, put the vehicle in an equipment-wheel slot, then pick it from the wheel in The City.
Tips that work on any weekly course:
- Run two or three practice laps first. Every layout is new, and the kart and bike handle differently.
- Avoid the crates at all costs. Clipping a wooden box usually costs more time than a slow corner, because you have to back up and drive around it.
- Outside in, straighten early. Enter turns wide, cut to the inside, and get the vehicle straight before you accelerate out.
- Carry momentum through corners. Players who chase top times describe chaining drifts so they never lose speed between turns. Braking hard into every corner is where casual runs lose seconds.
- Clean beats fast. You don't need a leaderboard time for the weekly prize. You only need to finish under the target.
How does the Target Time trick work for Lifetime Challenges?
Three Lifetime Challenges ask you to beat the target time 5, 10 and 15 times in The Track. This is where a smart approach saves hours.
A player PSA on r/NBA2k this weekend (October 25) explained how the target moves:
"The first 'Target Time' of the week is the default 'Target Time'. Your best time for the week that is under the default 'Target Time' becomes the new, subsequent 'Target Time' for the achievement."
So if your first run beats the target by 20 seconds, that 20-second-faster time becomes the bar for every run after it that week. You've made the challenge harder for yourself. The fix is to beat the target by as little as possible. On the final lap, stop just before the finish line and cross it right under the target. Next run, do the same with a slightly faster time. Each run counts as a beat, and you never set a bar you can't reach.
The same PSA says this week's default target is 2:20 and the course is forgiving, so you have plenty of room. One commenter replied: "I legit was done at 2 minutes flat and had to park for 10 seconds." A creator's tip on TikTok sums up the method: "Beat the target by just enough, then give yourself room to beat it again on the next run."
Two caveats. This is how players describe the mechanic, not something 2K has documented. And if your first run of the week is already far under the default, the trick won't work until the course rotates. Plan your first run, don't just send it.
What are all 16 Lifetime Challenges in The Track?
The Track is one of the 19 sections in NBA 2K27's 600 Lifetime Challenges. Here are all 16 Track challenges, as listed on the NBA2KLab Lifetime Challenges tracker (checked October 26, 2026):
| Group | Challenges | Count |
|---|---|---|
| Laps | Complete 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200 and 250 laps | 8 |
| Target time | Beat the target time 5, 10 and 15 times | 3 |
| Survivor | Complete a Survivor Race; win a Survivor Race | 2 |
| Head-to-head | Win 1, 3 and 5 races against another player | 3 |
Quickest four: complete 10 laps, complete 25 laps, complete a Survivor race, and beat the target time 5 times. When the week's race is three laps, as Week 4 was, 25 laps is just nine races. That's one session.
Medium: 50–100 laps and beating the target 10 times. Do a few races every time the course rotates and these finish themselves. Each target beat counts for the 5/10/15 chain, so the trick above pays off three times.
Long grinds: 200–250 laps and winning 5 races against other players. The head-to-head wins are the hardest, because you're up against people who live on The Track.
Why bother? Lifetime Challenges count across your whole account, and completing them climbs a reward ladder that includes a Cap Breaker at 200 completed challenges and another at 400. That's the real payoff of The Track. Our full Lifetime Challenges guide has every rung of the ladder and the 54 easiest challenges across all 19 sections. If you want to know where Cap Breakers come from beyond that, see how many Cap Breakers you can get in NBA 2K27.
Is The Track worth your time in Season 2?
For VC, no. 200 VC per Matchmaking race and 500 VC for a Survivor win is small change next to a REC or Season reward track session, and the 1M VC weekly prize goes to specialists.
For Lifetime Challenges, yes. Sixteen challenges, at least four of them doable in one sitting, and three more you can farm in a few minutes a week with the target-time trick. If you're chasing the 200-challenge Cap Breaker, The Track is one of the cheaper sections to clear.
A sensible routine for Season 2:
- When the course rotates, open Race of the Week and note the target and prize.
- Run two practice laps, then beat the target by a second or two.
- Repeat once or twice more with slightly faster runs for extra target beats.
- Jump into one Survivor race for the challenge and a shot at 500 VC.
- Leave the 250-lap and 5-win challenges for last.
Pair it with your Season grind. Our Season 2 fast-levelling guide covers the XP side.

FAQ
Where is The Track in NBA 2K27? It's in The City, in an indoor karting warehouse near the Gatorade Training Facility. 2K's support article describes it as "an indoor karting warehouse near the Gatorade facility."
How much VC do you get from The Track in NBA 2K27? 2K lists 200 VC for Matchmaking races, 500 VC for winning a Survivor race, and 1,000,000 VC for the weekly top performers in best time and Survivor wins, paid manually every Friday. Vs. Friends and Vs. Friend's Ghost have no VC listed, and the Race of the Week gives a weekly prize instead.
What is the Survivor race in NBA 2K27? Survivor is a new 2K27 mode at The Track. It's a battle-royale race where the last-place player is eliminated every two laps, and the winner gets 500 VC. Completing one and winning one are both Lifetime Challenges.
Why didn't I get the 1,000,000 VC after finishing first? 2K reviews the leaderboard manually before paying out on Friday, and the live leaderboard can lag. 2K's support article says that if you weren't awarded after the review, you weren't deemed the eligible winner, and breaking the fair-play rules makes you ineligible.
How do you beat the target time multiple times in The Track? Beat the default target by as little as possible. Players report that your best time under the default becomes the new target for that week, so a huge first run makes later beats harder. Cross the line just under the target, then improve slightly each run.
How many Lifetime Challenges are in The Track? Sixteen: eight lap milestones from 10 to 250 laps, three target-time challenges (5, 10 and 15 beats), two Survivor challenges, and three head-to-head wins (1, 3 and 5 races).
