PoE2 Grand Mirror Not Letting You Select a Map? The 0.5.5 "Select 1 Map" Bug, Fixed

If you've just cleared a Delirium map in Path of Exile 2's 0.5.5 Forbidden Rites event, clicked the Grand Mirror, landed on the Atlas with a big "Select 1 Map" prompt — and then nothing happens when you click your maps — you are not alone, and your Grand Mirror is almost certainly not wasted. In the vast majority of cases this is a UI misunderstanding about which maps are selectable, not a destroyed item. Here's exactly why it happens and how to un-stick it.

Quick answer: When a Grand Mirror says "Select 1 Map" but won't let you click anything, it's usually because only a specific cluster of Delirium-connected maps is eligible — not every map on your Atlas. The game highlights a ring of valid targets (often several nodes away from where you are), and clicking any other map does nothing, which reads as "unclickable." Fix it in this order: (1) click the map you just ran to reach the mirror (the node the Grand Mirror spawned in/next to); (2) look for the map node with a blue aura — that's the eligible target — and click that; (3) if it's genuinely stuck, press the "End Delirium Encounter" double-arrow button in the bottom-right to advance the questline (the most-reported working fix); (4) if you're inside a Citadel, that instance is known-bugged — leave and use a Grand Mirror from a normal map; (5) as a last resort, relog and re-open the Map Device to reset the quest state. GGG has an open bug report on it (forum thread "Grand Mirror – Cannot select a map"), and a partial server-side fix has landed for some players. Your splinters and Atlas progress are preserved.

Key takeaways

  • The Grand Mirror "Select 1 Map" lock is almost always the eligible-map rule, not a lost item — you can only paint Delirium onto a specific connected cluster, not any map.
  • Click the map you ran to find the mirror first. Multiple players report this is the single most reliable un-stick.
  • Citadel Grand Mirrors are specifically bugged in 0.5.x — spread Delirium from normal maps instead.
  • A genuine hard-stuck case is fixed by relogging / re-entering the Atlas; the quest state desyncs, not your inventory.
  • This blocks your march to 300 Simulacrum Splinters and the Simulacrum (Tang'Mazu) run — i.e. real endgame currency — so it's worth fixing before you burn more mirrors.

What the Grand Mirror actually does (so the prompt makes sense)

In the reworked 0.5 Delirium, a Grand Mirror is the object that spawns at the end of a Delirium-fogged map after you kill the map boss. Interacting with it sends you to the Atlas with the "Select 1 Map" prompt so you can spread the Delirium fog onto another nearby map, chaining encounters and accumulating Simulacrum Splinters. Collect 300 Splinters (from T11+ maps) and you can open the Simulacrum — the 15-wave gauntlet that ends at Tang'Mazu, the Strange Voice, and rains Distilled Emotions and currency.

PoE2 Delirium Grand Mirror — the glowing red object that spawns after you clear a fogged map's boss; interacting with it opens the "Select 1 Map" Atlas prompt

The important part for this bug: the Grand Mirror does not let you fog an arbitrary map. It offers a limited set of eligible maps connected through Delirium. If you click a map that isn't one of them, the game does nothing — no error, no sound — and it feels like the Grand Mirror is broken or unclickable. In most "can't select a map" reports, it isn't broken at all; the player is clicking ineligible nodes.

Fix #1 — Click the map you ran to reach the mirror

This is the most consistently reported solution. When the "Select 1 Map" screen opens, click the map node you just ran — the one the Grand Mirror spawned in, or the map immediately adjacent to where you encountered it. Several players described it as counter-intuitive ("Didn't make sense to me, but that's what I did and it worked"), yet it resolves the lock in a large share of cases.

If that exact node doesn't respond, try the directly adjacent maps around your current position before assuming a bug. The valid target is frequently right next to where you are, not across the Atlas.

Fix #2 — Find the highlighted ring of Delirium-connected maps

The Grand Mirror only lets you spread fog to a specific cluster of maps linked by Delirium, and — critically — those maps are not always the ones physically next to you. Players have confirmed the eligible maps can sit many nodes away (reports of ~20 maps distant), forming a loose ring rather than a neat neighbour group.

PoE2 Atlas close-up with a Delirium Fog tooltip on connected map nodes — only Delirium-linked maps like these are valid Grand Mirror targets

On the "Select 1 Map" screen, pan the Atlas and look for a map node with a blue aura / glow around it — that visual halo is the tell for an eligible target. Click the node with the blue surround and it converts the nearby nodes into Delirium, letting you ramp the encounter (players report you can push it toward 200%, which sharply increases difficulty and rewards). If you only ever click the maps right beside you and they aren't the blue-aura node, it will look permanently "unclickable" when it's actually working as intended.

Fix #3 — Citadel Grand Mirrors are bugged: use a normal map

There is a confirmed, narrower bug: Grand Mirrors that appear inside Citadels do not let you select a map. If the mirror you're stuck on is in a Citadel instance, that's a known broken case — don't keep feeding mirrors into it. Instead, spread Delirium from a standard map's Grand Mirror, where selection works correctly, and save your Citadel runs for the boss/Tablet objective rather than Delirium chaining.

Fix #4 — Genuinely stuck? Relog to reset the quest state

If you've tried the eligible maps and nothing responds — and you're sure you're clicking the highlighted ring — you're likely in the genuine quest-state desync version of this bug (the same family as the Legacy of the Precursors "Doryani won't spawn" desync). It is tracked in an official Early Access bug report ("Grand Mirror – Cannot select a map"). What's worked for affected players:

  • Press the "End Delirium Encounter" button — the small double-arrow (») button in the bottom-right of the map/Atlas screen. Multiple players report that while stuck on "Select 1 Map," hitting this button ends the current encounter and advances the Delirium questline to its next step, unblocking the mechanic. This is the single most-reported working fix and the first thing to try.
  • Don't run through the first mirror — beat the map without Delirium. Several players fixed it by re-running the map and killing the (twinned) bosses without activating the opening mirror; the end-of-map Grand Mirror then became interactable.
  • Leave the Atlas, fully log out to character select, and log back in, then re-open the Map Device. This forces the client and server to re-sync your Atlas/quest state.
  • Do the Delirium questline to completion. Some "can't select a map" cases were players who hadn't finished the required Elder Madox / Delirium questline that unlocks spreading.

If it still won't resolve after a relog, it's a server-side issue on GGG's end — a partial fix has already shipped for some accounts, so check the patch notes and try again after the next hotfix. Your Simulacrum Splinter count and Atlas points are stored on your profile, not on the mirror, so you don't lose progress by waiting.

Does this waste my Grand Mirror?

No — and this is the part that panics people. A Grand Mirror stuck on "Select 1 Map" has not consumed your Delirium progress. When the selection finally registers (via the right map or after a relog), it behaves normally. The frustration is real — players have reported "losing" several mirrors in a row — but that's lost time, not lost splinters or currency on your account. Fix the selection, not your stash.

Why it's worth un-sticking now (the currency angle)

Delirium is one of the most currency-dense endgame mechanics in 0.5.5, and the Grand Mirror chain is the gate to the Simulacrum. Every stuck mirror is Distilled Emotions, Splinters, and raw orbs you're not banking. And the Forbidden Rites economy is moving fast: as of September 9, 2026, 1 Divine Orb trades for roughly 254 Exalted Orbs on the Forbidden Rites softcore league (live poe2scout) — up from about 52 Exalted on September 5, as the event economy settles and Exalted inflation burns off. In other words, the currency you farm from unblocked Delirium is worth banking in Divine now rather than sitting on a pile of Exalted that's losing relative value by the day.

If you're hard-stuck on Atlas progression — Delirium chains, pinnacle unlocks, or Arbiter access — and you'd rather not grind through a buggy mechanic, a PoE2 Atlas / boss carry clears the blocker fast, and topping up Divine Orbs lets you buy the gear to push Delirium depth yourself.

FAQ

Why can't I select any map with my Grand Mirror in PoE2? Because the Grand Mirror only lets you spread Delirium to a specific cluster of connected maps, not every map on your Atlas. The eligible maps are highlighted (sometimes several nodes away) and clicking anything else does nothing, which looks like the mirror is unclickable. Click the map you just ran to reach the mirror, or one of the highlighted ring maps.

Is the Grand Mirror "Select 1 Map" issue a bug or am I doing it wrong? Both exist. Most reports are the eligible-map misunderstanding above (working as intended). There is also a genuine tracked bug — especially with Citadel Grand Mirrors and a quest-state desync — logged in GGG's Early Access bug reports as "Grand Mirror – Cannot select a map." Try the eligible maps first; if nothing in the highlighted ring responds, it's the real bug.

Did I lose my Grand Mirror / Delirium progress? No. A stuck "Select 1 Map" prompt does not consume your splinters or Atlas progress. Once the selection registers — via the correct map or after a relog — the chain continues normally. You lose time, not currency.

How do I fix the Grand Mirror bug right now? In order: click the map you ran to reach the mirror; look for the map node with a blue aura and click that; if it's genuinely stuck, press the "End Delirium Encounter" double-arrow button (bottom-right) to advance the questline — the most-reported working fix; avoid Citadel mirrors (spread from normal maps); and if all else fails, relog to character select and re-open the Map Device to reset the quest state.

Do I need to finish a questline before the Grand Mirror works? Yes — you must complete the Delirium questline (Elder Madox) that unlocks spreading fog and the Simulacrum. Some "can't select a map" cases were simply players who hadn't finished it yet.

What is the Grand Mirror for in the first place? It spawns after you kill the boss of a Delirium-fogged map and lets you spread the fog onto another map, chaining encounters toward 300 Simulacrum Splinters (from T11+ maps) to open the Simulacrum — the 15-wave boss gauntlet ending at Tang'Mazu that drops Distilled Emotions and currency.
