PoE2 Perfect Jeweller's Orb Price: How Much It Costs, Is It Worth Buying & Cheapest Way to Get One (0.5)

PoE2 Perfect Jeweller's Orb item tooltip in the inventory — the currency that adds a skill gem's fifth support socket

The Perfect Jeweller's Orb is the price you pay to finish a build. It is the only currency that unlocks a skill gem's 5th and final support socket — the last flat damage breakpoint on every skill you run — which is exactly why it's one of the stickiest, most consistently in-demand of the everyday crafting currencies you'll actually spend on your own character. If you're weighing whether to buy one, six of them, or farm your own, the number you actually care about is how much it costs right now and whether that's a fair deal.

This is a price guide, not a mechanics primer: what a Perfect Jeweller's Orb trades for in the current 0.5 Return of the Ancients (Runes of Aldur) league, why it's so expensive, when it's worth buying versus farming, and the cheapest legitimate way to get one. (For the full mechanics and drop breakdown, see our Perfect Jeweller's Orb guide.)

Quick answer: how much is a Perfect Jeweller's Orb worth in PoE2?

  • Current price: roughly 120–135 Exalted Orbs each — about 0.3 of a Divine Orb — in the Runes of Aldur softcore trade economy (mid-July 2026). Rates float daily; check poe.ninja or a live price-check tool before you trade.
  • Why so expensive (relatively): it's the only source of a skill gem's 5th support socket, there is no crafting recipe, and it only drops at item level 65+ — persistent demand, gated supply.
  • How many you need: most builds run 4–6 skills that each want the 5-socket breakpoint, so a fully-finished character can cost 4–6 Perfect Jeweller's Orbs — roughly 1.5–2 Divine Orbs total at current rates.
  • Cheapest way to get one: buy it instantly on the in-game Currency Exchange — no whisper, no waiting. Farming your own only pays off if you're already clearing dense Tier 15+ maps.

How much is a Perfect Jeweller's Orb right now?

In the current Runes of Aldur league, a Perfect Jeweller's Orb trades for around 120–135 Exalted Orbs — about 0.3 of a Divine Orb, since a Divine itself sits near 430 Exalted at the time of writing. That's still one of the pricier crafting currencies you'll actually spend on your own gear, but it's a long way below the pure chase items like Mageblood or a Mirror of Kalandra.

Two things about that price are worth stressing:

  • It started much higher. At Runes of Aldur launch the Perfect Jeweller's Orb traded close to a full Divine, and plenty of older guides still quote "≈1 Divine." That's stale. Its Exalted price has actually stayed remarkably stable around 120–130, while the Divine inflated against Exalted (from ~110 Ex at launch to ~430 Ex now) — so in Divine terms the orb has quietly fallen to ~0.3 Div. Always trade off the live Exalted price, not an old Divine figure.
  • It rarely crashes in Exalted terms. The Perfect Jeweller's Orb price holds up deep into a league because demand is structural — every new character rebuilds the same 4–6 sockets from scratch. Supply trickles in slowly at ilvl 65+; demand resets with every fresh build.

Here's how the three Jeweller's Orb tiers compare, so you can see why the top tier is in a different price bracket entirely:

Jeweller's OrbSets gem toDrop levelRough value (Runes of Aldur)
Lesser Jeweller's Orb3 support socketsilvl 25a few Chaos Orbs
Greater Jeweller's Orb4 support socketsilvl 45under 1 Exalted
Perfect Jeweller's Orb5 support sockets (max)ilvl 65~120–135 Exalted (~0.3 Divine)

A single Perfect is worth well over 100 Greater Jeweller's Orbs — and there's no recipe to bridge that gap (more on that below). If you're still stocking up the cheaper tiers first, our Greater & Perfect currency guide breaks down where each one is best spent.

Why is the Perfect Jeweller's Orb so expensive?

The price comes down to three multiplying factors:

  • It's the only source of the 5th socket. In PoE2, support gems socket into the skill gem itself, and each gem starts at 2 sockets. Jeweller's Orbs are the only way up the chain, and only the Perfect tier hits the cap of 5. There is no alternative item and no substitute.
  • There is no crafting recipe. You cannot combine Lesser or Greater Jeweller's Orbs into a Perfect one — a habit PoE1 players bring over that simply doesn't exist here. Every Perfect in the economy came from a raw drop, a boss, or a gamble. That hard-caps supply.
  • It's gated to item level 65. Perfect Jeweller's Orbs only drop from monsters in genuine endgame content (ilvl 65+), so the players supplying the market are the same ones deep enough to be demanding it. Supply can't outrun demand early, and the price sets in fast.

The in-game item text spells out exactly what you're paying for:

"Sets a Skill Gem to have 5 Support Gem Sockets. Right click this item then left click a Skill Gem to apply it. Can only apply to Skill Gems with fewer than 5 Support Gem Sockets."

Perfect Jeweller's Orb, in-game item text (poe2db)

Note the word "sets." It jumps a gem straight to 5 regardless of its current socket count — so you never waste a Greater first. You buy exactly one Perfect per skill you want maxed.

Is a Perfect Jeweller's Orb worth buying?

For most players finishing a build: yes — buying is almost always the correct call. Here's the decision in plain terms:

  • Buy if you're pushing a build to its damage ceiling and your main skills aren't at 5 sockets yet. The 5th support is a flat multiplier on your biggest skill — usually the single most cost-efficient DPS upgrade left once your gear is decent. At only ~0.3 Divine (~125 Exalted) per socket, it buys more damage than almost anything else in that price range.
  • Farm instead if you're already clearing dense Tier 15+ maps comfortably. At that point Perfects drop as an occasional bonus and self-supplying your sockets is realistic (see farming below).
  • Wait if you're build-swapping constantly or the 0.5.5 event league is about to reset the economy. A fresh event economy makes today's Runes of Aldur stockpile far less useful, so don't over-buy Perfects you won't socket before it drops.

The one trap to avoid: don't buy Perfects for skills you're not sure you're keeping. Because there's no recipe and no refund, a Perfect spent on a skill you drop next respec is currency down the drain. Lock your build first, then max your sockets.

What's the cheapest way to get a Perfect Jeweller's Orb?

Ranked by cost and speed, cheapest-effective first:

  • The Currency Exchange (cheapest + fastest to buy). PoE2's bulk order-book market lets you buy Perfect Jeweller's Orbs outright for Exalted or Divine Orbs with no whisper and no waiting for a seller. It's the tightest price and by far the least friction — this is where you should buy. If you're short on the Exalted or Divine to pay for it, you can top up PoE2 currency or grab Divine Orbs directly and skip the grind.
  • Farm it yourself (cheapest if you're already mapping). Perfect Jeweller's Orbs are Socket Currency, weighted to drop from raw kill volume at ilvl 65+. Two levers stack:
  • Run Breach. Breach floods the screen with monsters in a tight window — the standout Socket Currency farm in 0.5.
  • Allocate "Local Knowledge." This atlas passive grants +40% Socket Currency found in Grass biome maps, and Perfect Jeweller's Orbs count. Run grass-biome maps with Breach to compound both.
  • Zarokh, the Temporal (situational). The final boss of the Trial of the Sekhemas can drop Jeweller's Orbs. If you're already running Sekhemas for ascendancy points, it's a free shot at the higher tiers — not a farm you'd start for orbs alone.
  • Vaal Orb gamble (risky, not "cheap"). Corrupting a 4-socket gem with a Vaal Orb has a small chance to add the 5th socket for free — but it can also brick the gem. Only gamble a spare you can afford to lose.

Realistically, even a strong farm produces Perfects as an occasional high-value drop, not a steady stream. Most efficient players treat them like Divine Orbs: farm raw map value, sell the bulk, and convert into the specific orbs they need on the Exchange.

How many Perfect Jeweller's Orbs does a full build cost?

PoE2 Skills panel — each skill gem's support gem sockets, the slots a Perfect Jeweller's Orb maxes to five

This is the number that surprises people. A finished endgame character typically runs 4–6 active skills — a main damage skill, a secondary/clear skill, a mobility skill, and two or three auras or utility gems — and each one wants to reach the 5-socket breakpoint. That's potentially 4–6 Perfect Jeweller's Orbs per character, or roughly 1.5–2 Divine Orbs (about 500–800 Exalted) just in socket currency, on top of the gear itself.

In practice you prioritise: max your main damage skill first (the biggest DPS return), then your clear skill, then utility. You don't need every gem at 5 sockets on day one — but a truly optimised character eventually does, which is why demand never dries up and the price holds all league.

FAQ

How much is a Perfect Jeweller's Orb worth in PoE2 right now? In the current Runes of Aldur league it trades for roughly 120–135 Exalted Orbs, which is about 0.3 of a Divine Orb (mid-July 2026). Ignore older guides that still say "≈1 Divine" — that was true at league launch, but the Divine has since inflated against Exalted while the orb's Exalted price held. Check poe.ninja or a live price-checker before you trade.

Can you craft a Perfect Jeweller's Orb from Lesser or Greater ones? No. There is no vendor recipe and no crafting bench that combines lower-tier Jeweller's Orbs into a Perfect one. This catches out PoE1 players — in PoE2 you must obtain the Perfect tier directly from a drop, the Currency Exchange, a Vaal gamble, or Zarokh.

Is it worth buying a Perfect Jeweller's Orb? For most players finishing a build, yes — the 5th support socket is a flat damage multiplier and, at only ~0.3 Divine (~125 Exalted), usually the most cost-efficient DPS upgrade left. Only skip buying if you're already farming dense Tier 15+ maps (where you'll drop your own) or the economy is about to reset with the 0.5.5 event.

How many Perfect Jeweller's Orbs do I need for a full build? Typically 4–6 — one per skill you want at maximum sockets. Prioritise your main damage skill first, then clear and utility skills. At ~0.3 Divine each, a fully-optimised character spends the equivalent of about 1.5–2 Divine Orbs on socket currency alone.

Where do Perfect Jeweller's Orbs drop? From monsters at item level 65+ (endgame maps), as a reward from Zarokh, the Temporal in the Trial of the Sekhemas, and via a lucky Vaal Orb corruption on a 4-socket gem. The best farm is high-density Breach maps at Tier 15+ with the Local Knowledge atlas node for +40% Socket Currency.

What does a Perfect Jeweller's Orb actually do? It sets a skill gem to 5 support gem sockets, the maximum in PoE2 — the top of the Lesser (3) → Greater (4) → Perfect (5) chain. Because it "sets" rather than "adds," you can apply it to a gem at any socket count below 5 and jump straight to the cap.
