Doomwalker & Kazzak Loot Is Now BoE on TBC Anniversary: All 20 Items + the 4 Worth Your Gold

Since the Zul'Aman patch went live on October 22, 2026, the two Outland world bosses changed in a way most guides haven't caught up with. Doomwalker and Doom Lord Kazzak now drop Bind on Equip loot instead of Bind on Pickup. Every one of their 20 epics can now be traded, sold on the Auction House or mailed to an alt. Several of the world-boss guides still ranking for these bosses say the loot is soulbound, and that stopped being true five days ago. Below: what Blizzard actually changed, all 20 items with their real TBC stats, and the four worth buying with gold if one turns up on your realm's AH.

TL;DR: what changed, and what's worth buying?

  • The change (confirmed): Blizzard's patch notes: "Doomlord Kazzak and Doomwalker are now more eager to share their spoils. Their loot is now Bind on Equip (from Bind on Pickup)." Both bosses also drop Badges of Justice now (Blizzard).
  • The loot: 20 items, 10 per boss, every one item level 120, level 70 required, Bind on Equip (TBC tooltips, Wowhead).
  • The honest catch: item level 120 is below the item level 128 armor G'eras now sells for Badges of Justice. For a geared Black Temple raider, almost none of this is an upgrade. The buyers are fresh 70s, alts and returning players catching up quickly.
  • Worth gold first: Exodar Life-Staff (healer staff, +364 healing), Talon of the Tempest (caster dagger, +194 spell power), Ethereum Nexus-Reaver (two-hand axe, 3.70 speed) and Barrel-Blade Longrifle (hunter gun). Weapons are the slots badges and heroics fill most slowly.
  • Skip unless cheap: the healer cloth, neck and ring pieces. G'eras badge gear covers those slots better.

What exactly did Blizzard change on October 22?

The world-boss change is one short line in the Gods of Zul'Aman patch notes, under "Beyond Zul'Aman" (quoted in full in the TL;DR above). The same post adds Doomlord Kazzak and Doomwalker to the list of bosses that can now drop Badges of Justice, alongside every boss in Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep and Zul'Aman (Blizzard).

This follows the original timeline. In the 2008 game, patch 2.4.0 made both bosses' loot Bind on Equip, and the 2022 TBC Classic run did the same in its Zul'Aman phase (Warcraft Tavern: "As of Phase 4, Doomwalker's loot is now bind-on-equip."). The Anniversary realms now have it too.

What Blizzard did not say (so we won't claim it either):

  • How many Badges of Justice each world boss drops.
  • Whether loot that dropped before October 22 changed to Bind on Equip as well.
  • Anything about respawn timers.

Patch 2.4.0 also raised the cash the bosses drop, but Blizzard's Anniversary notes don't mention gold drops, so don't count on that.

How do Doomwalker and Kazzak work on TBC Anniversary?

Shadowmoon Valley map with Doomwalker's spawn circled in front of the Black Temple

  • Doomwalker stands in Shadowmoon Valley, on the open ground between the two terraces in front of the Black Temple, at about 71.4, 44.1 (Warcraft Tavern).
  • Doom Lord Kazzak spawns at the Throne of Kil'jaeden in northern Hellfire Peninsula, at about 63.2, 16.0 (same source).
  • Tagging: only the raid that lands the first damaging hit can loot the boss. Two raids racing for the tag is normal.
  • Respawn: Blizzard doesn't publish a timer. Community trackers put both bosses at roughly 2–4 days between kills, and the timing varies. Treat that as reported, not confirmed.
  • Drop rate: Wowhead's TBC data shows individual items at about 18–19% each (Black-Iron Battlecloak 18.84%, Ancient Spellcloak of the Highborne 18.31%). With 10 items per table, that suggests about two epics per kill on average. That's an estimate from sampled drop data, not a Blizzard figure.
  • Doomwalker's Mark of Death: die to Doomwalker and you get Mark of Death for 15 minutes. Getting close to him while marked means instant death, so a wiped raid can't run straight back in.

Why this matters for your gold: a kill used to put a couple of soulbound epics into a single raid. Now those epics are tradeable, and a new kill comes along every few days. Raids that get the tag can sell what nobody in the group needs. That means a small, irregular supply. Expect the weapons to sell first and for the most.

Is item level 120 still worth anything in Phase 3.5?

Yes, but only for the right character. Here is where 120 sits on the current ladder:

SourceItem levelCost
Doomwalker / Kazzak (BoE)120gold, or a world-boss tag
G'eras badge armor (Zul'Aman patch stock)12835–75 Badges of Justice
Zul'Aman raid loot128–13810-player raid, 3-day lockout
Black Temple / Mount Hyjal141+25-player raid, now with no attunement

The badge costs and item levels come from the original patch 2.3 G'eras stock, which we covered in what to buy first at G'eras. Blizzard confirmed that G'eras has "more powerful wares" but didn't publish the full list.

The decision is simple. A raider already clearing Black Temple shouldn't spend gold here. But a fresh 70 is 35–75 badges away from each G'eras armor piece, and few of the new badge items are weapons. A world-boss weapon can be equipped the day you hit 70, while a badge or heroic-drop weapon takes days or weeks of farming. That gap is where these items earn their price.

Which 4 items should you spend gold on first?

The ranking criterion is simple: how hard is that slot to fill another way for a new level 70? This isn't a best-in-slot list. Raid loot beats all of these.

1. Exodar Life-Staff (Kazzak). +364 healing, 18 mp5 and 34 Int on one item is a huge jump for a healer coming out of leveling or normal dungeon gear. Healer weapons are among the slowest catch-up slots. For Priests, Resto Druids and Resto Shamans it's the best single purchase in either table. Holy Paladins can't equip it and should look at Ring of Flowing Light instead.

2. Talon of the Tempest (Doomwalker). 194 spell damage and healing on a main-hand, plus hit and crit. Pair it with any off-hand and a fresh caster is raid-ready in that slot on day one. Paladins can't equip daggers. It's Unique, so you can't hold more than one copy, which also means you can't buy a spare.

3. Ethereum Nexus-Reaver (Doomwalker). The 3.70 weapon speed is what two-hand specs want for big special-attack hits. +50 Strength, 30 crit and three sockets make it a solid placeholder until Black Temple or Zul'Aman weapons drop.

4. Barrel-Blade Longrifle (Doomwalker). Hunters live and die by their ranged weapon, and the Longrifle's 2.60 speed and two red sockets make it a real catch-up gun.

Everything else is "buy if the price is low." Armor slots are exactly what the new G'eras stock targets, so a 35–75 badge item at item level 128 usually beats paying gold for an item level 120 equivalent. The exceptions are Scaled Greaves of the Marksman and Terrorweave Tunic, which are strong enough for the classes they suit to justify a mid-range price.

Should you sell or keep world-boss loot you win?

If you're in the raid that tags the boss, Bind on Equip means you have options:

  • Keep it if it fills a weak slot on your main or an alt you're gearing. Mailing a staff to your fresh-70 healer alt is now allowed, and it's the best use of a drop nobody in the raid needs.
  • Sell it if nobody in the group needs it. Supply is tiny: a couple of epics per kill and a kill every few days per boss. Early listings tend to get the best prices before the market settles.
  • Agree on rules before the pull. Loot from a pickup world-boss raid gets messy fast once it's sellable. Settle master-loot and rolls before the tag, not after.

We aren't printing gold prices. Your realm's Auction House sets them, and there's no reliable cross-realm price data for Anniversary yet. Check your own AH before you buy or sell.

How do you afford a world-boss weapon on a fresh 70?

The weapons on this list will sell for real gold on most realms, and a new 70 rarely has it. Your options:

FAQ

Is Doomwalker loot Bind on Equip on TBC Anniversary? Yes, since the October 22, 2026 Gods of Zul'Aman patch. Blizzard's patch notes say Doomwalker and Doomlord Kazzak loot "is now Bind on Equip (from Bind on Pickup)." Both bosses can also drop Badges of Justice now.

What item level is Doomwalker and Kazzak loot? Every item on both tables is item level 120 and requires level 70. That's below the item level 128 badge armor at G'eras, so these items mainly help fresh 70s and alts.

What is the best item from Kazzak? For staff-using healers, the Exodar Life-Staff: +364 healing, 18 mp5 and 34 Intellect with three sockets. Physical DPS players will want Scaled Greaves of the Marksman (hunters) or Ring of Reciprocity.

What is the best item from Doomwalker? Talon of the Tempest for casters and healers (+194 spell damage and healing), Ethereum Nexus-Reaver for two-hand melee and Barrel-Blade Longrifle for hunters.

How often do Doomwalker and Kazzak respawn on TBC Anniversary? Blizzard doesn't publish a timer. Community trackers report roughly 2–4 days between kills with a variable window, so treat any exact timer as unconfirmed.

Can anyone loot a world boss they helped kill? No. Only the raid that tagged the boss first can loot it. Being Bind on Equip means the winning raid can trade or sell its drops, not that loot is shared.
