Yes — in WARDOGS your own teammates can shoot you, ram you with a vehicle and loot your body when you go down, and right now that is the single loudest complaint on the launch-week subreddit. The good news, and the part most new players get wrong: a team kill does not wipe your account. Your Cash persists from match to match, so a griefer can cost you one loadout and a few minutes — not your bank. This guide explains exactly what teammates can and cannot do to you, why the game is built this way, how BULKHEAD's Season 1 report system handles it, and how to protect the thing that actually matters: your Cash.
Quick answer: Teammates can kill you (friendly fire is on), ram you, and loot your downed body — WARDOGS has no squad protection and no safe spawn. They cannot touch your banked Cash, your XP, your unlocks, your Gold Bars or your cosmetics. Dying costs you the loadout you bought this life, nothing more. Report serial team killers through the in-game report system (reworked in Season 1 so repeat and bad-faith reporters carry less weight), and keep earning — Cash is the only thing a bad match can set you back on, and it is the easiest thing to rebuild.
Accurate as of the live Season 1 build (last changelog: "Pre-Load Live & Season 1 Changelog," Steam, 2026-09-09 22:46 UTC; most recent hotfix 2026-10-02). Season 2 begins 15 October 2026. Mechanics below are first-party unless labelled otherwise.

Can teammates actually kill you in WARDOGS?
Yes. WARDOGS runs friendly fire and has no teammate collision protection, which means a player on your own team can:
- Shoot you, including from inside a shared vehicle.
- Ram you with a vehicle — ground or air. The weapons-dealer landing pad near spawn is a known pile-up zone where helicopters crash into each other and trucks run people over.
- Loot your body the moment you are downed or killed — your weapons, your gear, your medical supplies.
- Drag your downed body away from the fight instead of reviving you.
None of this is a bug. WARDOGS is a 100-player, three-team Control Zone shooter — each match has three sides fighting over a shifting objective, and your "team" is a loose faction of up to 100 strangers, not a locked four-stack. There is no skill-based matchmaking and no safe squad spawn ("you have to make your way back to them," per BULKHEAD), so you are routinely dropped next to people you have never met and have no reason to trust.
On the live subreddit this week, players describe a heli pilot who "shot me in from inside the heli, not an air-to-air collision," and another who team-killed a pilot "and then immediately switched to green team." That team-switching matters: because there are three teams, a griefer can betray one side and defect to another, which is exactly why friendly fire and looting exist at all — the game cannot assume the player next to you is really on your side.
Can a teammate loot your body — and what do they actually take?
Yes, and this is the grief that stings most. When you are downed, any nearby player — teammate included — can loot your corpse and take what you were carrying this life: your gun, your armour, your bandages, your defibrillator. BULKHEAD's own framing is blunt: "anything that you can buy, anything that anyone can buy, you can loot."
Players are split on whether that is fair. One camp calls it working as intended — "if a teammate died then he is fair game… if you don't want your shit stolen then don't die." Another camp loses expensive kit mid-match and wants an opt-out, or a permission prompt before an ally can loot a downed friendly. A common middle-ground request on the subreddit is a toggle to disable teammate looting or partition your bag. None of those options exists in the live Season 1 build — treat body-looting as a permanent feature for now, not something you can switch off.
The practical takeaway: the stuff a teammate can steal is the loadout you paid Cash for this life. That is real, but it is replaceable. Which brings us to the part that actually protects you.
What griefers can NOT take: your Cash, levels and unlocks
Here is the misconception that causes the most unnecessary panic. A team kill does not reset your account. In WARDOGS:
- Cash persists from match to match. The store page states it verbatim: "Cash persists from match to match, so spending big on better gear, equipment, or a vehicle at the right time has the potential to turn the tide of battle and could yield massive returns." The Cash you have banked is safe when you die.
- XP and unlock levels are permanent (within the season). Losing a loadout does not un-unlock anything — getting team-killed at Driver 20 leaves you at Driver 20.
- Gold Bars and cosmetics are permanent across seasons. They never reset.
- Every player starts each account with $10,000 — once. That is a one-time grant, not a per-life payment. (The widespread "$10,000 every life" claim is wrong; your balance carries over, which is the whole point. If you are new, our beginner's first-hour guide covers what to buy first with that starting Cash.)
So what does a griefer actually cost you? The single loadout you bought this life, plus a few minutes. If you were carrying a $2,400 Large Hammer and a scope when a teammate downed and looted you, you re-buy them next life from your banked Cash. Annoying — not account-ending. The only resource a bad match sets you back on is Cash, and Cash is the easiest thing in the game to earn back.
How WARDOGS handles team killers: the Season 1 report system
BULKHEAD rebuilt moderation at launch. The Season 1 changelog (Steam, 2026-09-09) lists, verbatim:
"Added a new report tracking system. Reports are now weighted so that repeat and bad faith reporters carry less influence. Cheater bans are now announced in server when match termination is turned off."
What that means for you:
- Report serial team killers in-game. The weighting is designed so that one honest report from a clean account counts for more than spam from a known bad-faith reporter — so reporting a genuine griefer is worth it, and false-reporting someone you are mad at is not.
- Bans do happen, and they are visible. When a match is not terminated, cheater bans now show up in the server, so the system is not a black hole.
- Community servers can set their own rules. WARDOGS supports community-hosted servers (via approved partners), and some run stricter moderation or restrictions than official servers — players point to KOTH-style community servers with tighter team-kill rules as a calmer experience. Your Cash carries across official and community servers.
One honest caveat: there is no friendly-fire lockout, no team-kill auto-kick and no region lock in the live build, all of which players are loudly requesting. Moderation here is reactive reporting, not prevention. BULKHEAD has signalled it is working through community quality-of-life requests "for the very short term," but as of today, the tools you have are report, avoid the spawn scrum, and keep your bank healthy.

How to protect yourself from griefers (practical Season 1 tips)
You cannot stop friendly fire, but you can make yourself a smaller target and a faster recovery:
- Don't cluster at the weapons dealer. The spawn landing pad is where heli pile-ups and ram-kills happen. Players report flying or moving past the immediate spawn and setting up slightly back from the crowd.
- Assume your downed body is lootable. If you are carrying expensive kit, play it more carefully near unknown teammates — the person reviving you can also strip you first.
- Bank Cash through teamplay, not just kills. Reviving squadmates, transporting friendlies to the zone and controlling the objective all pay Cash — so does standing in the Hot Zone, which pays double. A deep bank means a griefer's team kill is a shrug, not a setback; our how-to-make-money guide breaks down which teamplay actions pay best.
- Report, don't retaliate. Team-killing the team killer just feeds the report system your name too.
- Spend big before the wipe, not after a bad match. Cash and XP reset at the Season 2 wipe on 15 October 2026 (Cash auto-converts to permanent Gold Bars). Don't hoard Cash out of grief-fear — a death is cheap; an unspent balance at the reset is the real waste.
Save-time option: keep your Cash bank healthy
Getting griefed is frustrating precisely because every loadout you lose is Cash you have to grind back — and in Season 1 that grind is deliberately slow (BULKHEAD slowed levels 10–20 and flattened the curve from 35 on, so "those wanting the big-ticket items, the top 5%, will need to grind"). If you would rather spend your limited playtime winning Control Zone fights than farming back a bank a teammate cost you, our team can top up your WARDOGS Cash so you are never one bad match away from an empty wallet.
Want to stop grinding back what griefers cost you? We hand-farm WARDOGS Cash so your bank stays deep enough to re-buy any loadout, every life — no account sharing required for the services that keep you in control.

FAQ
Can teammates kill you in WARDOGS? Yes. Friendly fire is on and there is no teammate collision protection, so players on your own team can shoot you, ram you with a ground or air vehicle, and down you. WARDOGS is a 100-player, three-team mode with no safe squad spawn, so you are regularly placed next to strangers you have no reason to trust.
Can a teammate loot your body in WARDOGS? Yes. When you are downed or killed, any nearby player — including a teammate — can loot your corpse and take the weapons, gear and medical items you bought this life. There is no option in the live Season 1 build to disable teammate looting or require a permission prompt, despite players requesting it.
Do you lose your Cash and levels when a teammate kills you? No. Cash persists from match to match, and your XP, unlock levels, Gold Bars and cosmetics are all unaffected by death. A team kill only costs you the loadout you purchased this life. Your $10,000 starting balance is a one-time account grant, not a per-life payment, and your banked Cash is never touched.
How do you report a team killer in WARDOGS? Use the in-game report system. BULKHEAD added a new report-tracking system in Season 1 that weights reports so repeat and bad-faith reporters carry less influence, and cheater bans are now announced in-server when match termination is off. There is no automatic team-kill kick, so reporting is the main tool you have.
Is there a region lock or friendly-fire toggle in WARDOGS? Not in the live Season 1 build. Players are actively requesting region locking and a teammate-looting toggle, and BULKHEAD has said it is working through short-term quality-of-life requests, but neither exists today. Community-hosted servers can enforce stricter rules than official servers.
Will griefing get worse or better at the Season 2 wipe? Unknown. Season 2 starts 15 October 2026 with a Cash and XP reset (Cash auto-converts to Gold Bars, which persist). BULKHEAD has not confirmed any anti-grief changes for Season 2, so treat current behaviour as the live state and report serial offenders in the meantime.
