Lucid Nightmare is the secret mount added in patch 7.3, Shadows of Argus, and it never drops from a boss. It is unlocked by a scripted chain of seven Inconspicuous Notes that crosses Dalaran, Ulduar, the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, Deepholm, Gnomeregan, Val'sharah and Kun-Lai Summit, and ends at a chest in the Forgotten Crypt behind the Karazhan graveyard in Deadwind Pass.
There is no loot roll and no raid lockout. Every step is deterministic, so the mount is guaranteed the moment the chain is finished. The only real variable is time. Progress is stored on the account across 8 tracked steps, which means the work can be paused between booked blocks and picked up later.
Where the hours actually go: the first six puzzles are mostly cross-continent travel plus a 20-by-20 Ulduar light grid, a five-in-a-row Mindcraft match in AQ40, a Shadoweave Mask detour for the Deepholm chair, and a ten-digit Gnomeregan console code. The final step is the Endless Halls, an 8x8 maze holding five orbs, five matching runes and one hidden teleport trap; reported maze times run from under an hour to well past six.
Realistic total: roughly 4 to 10 hours. The 6-hour block covers a normal run and the 10-hour block absorbs a bad maze. If a maze goes long, the extra time is booked as repeat blocks at the same rate: 2 hours for $26.99, 4 for $53.99, 6 for $80.99, or 10 for $134.99. Nothing is gated behind a weekly reset, so blocks can run back to back.
Delivery: every raid and dungeon in the chain is legacy content a level-90 character walks through solo, so no group is needed. US is the default region and EU has its own independent ladder. Piloted play is standard, Self-play Remote adds 30%, Express adds 20%, and Super Express adds 40%. Manual PC play only, scheduled in ET or PT for US players.
