AION 2 Tier List: Best Class for PvE & PvP (October 2026)

Quick answer: AION 2 launched globally on October 5, 2026 with eight classes — Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter. On the early Global damage meters (launch week), Sorcerer and Assassin are putting up the top DPS numbers, Spiritmaster is strong thanks to its fear crowd-control, and Cleric is must-pick because it is the only healer. Gladiator posts low personal DPS on the launch-week charts — it's valued for durability, not damage — even though it reportedly climbs higher in Korea's year-ahead endgame. The honest caveat up front: this is three days of data on a brand-new live game, not a settled meta — treat every ranking below as launch-week consensus, not gospel.

This tier list is built for the global launch build (not the 2008 original Aion and not Aion Classic — three different games). We pull from the first Global DPS leaderboards, Korea's one-year-ahead endgame logs, and what players are actually reporting in the opening days.

How this tier list works (read this first)

Nobody has months of global endgame data yet. Anyone publishing a confident "this is the permanent AION 2 meta" three days after launch is guessing. So this list grades classes on two separate things, and we tell you which is which:

  • Early Global meters (October 2026): what's topping the first damage leaderboards on the NA/EU servers right now. Volatile — rotations aren't optimised, gear is low, and balance patches are coming.
  • Korean endgame precedent: the KR/TW version launched November 19, 2025, roughly a year ahead. Its endgame logs are a strong hint at where a class ends up once it's geared and understood — but KR balance is not identical to Global, so it's a hint, not a promise.

A class that's mediocre on the launch-week meter but top-tier in KR endgame (hello, Ranger) is a very different pick than one that's bad in both. We flag that gap everywhere it matters.

One important warning before you chase a meter ranking: some of the early Global DPS leaderboards are fed by third-party damage meters. NC enforces a zero-tolerance stance on unauthorised tools, and players on r/Aion2 have already reported account bans tied to running an "Abyss DPS Meter" in the opening days. As one banned player (u/draynilla98) put it on October 6, 2026: "Everything was fine last night... but I tried to log in this afternoon and got hit with this message." We cite community meter data as a signal; we are not telling you to install one. Don't risk your account for a parse.

The AION 2 tier list (PvE DPS, launch week — October 2026)

TierClassRoleWhy it's here
SSorcererRanged magic DPSTopping the early Global damage meters; high burst from range with a Spellbook. The launch-week darling.
SAssassinMelee burst DPSHighest ceiling on the meters when played well — stealth, back-attacks, fast combos. Steep skill and ping floor.
ASpiritmasterSummoner / controlDoT-and-debuff summoner that fights through an Orb-summoned spirit; its fear is one of the strongest CCs in the game.
AClericHealerThe only true healer. Not a DPS pick, but always in demand for groups — the safest "I'll never struggle to find a party" class.
BRangerRanged physical DPSSlow on the first Global meters, but top-group in KR endgame logs. A classic "scales late" pick; safe, mobile ranged play.
BTemplarMain tankBeginner-friendly frontline. Not about damage — about surviving and holding threat. Groups need one.
BChanterSupport hybridBuffs, off-healing and respectable melee damage. Flexible, never useless, rarely the top of any single chart.
CGladiatorMelee bruiser / off-tankSturdy and beginner-safe, but low personal DPS on the launch-week charts — valued more for durability and party utility than damage. Reportedly stronger later in KR as gear comes online.

Tiers reflect launch-week PvE damage plus role scarcity, not a permanent verdict. CC classes and the lone healer are rated for their group value, which a raw DPS number undersells.

Best class for PvP in AION 2

PvP in AION 2 is the faction-war identity of the game — Elyos versus Asmodian, meeting in shared spaces like the Abyss. Early launch-week PvP reads a little differently from the PvE DPS chart:

  • Assassin — the standout PvP pick in community discussion: the burst to delete a target, the mobility to pick your fight. Game Rant's launch guide puts it plainly — if you want "to deal the most damage and be the first on the DPS calculation sheet," "Assassin or Sorcerer are the way to go." The catch repeated everywhere is ping: above ~100ms your combos slip and the class falls apart.
  • Spiritmaster — can fear an opponent, one of the strongest crowd-control effects available, then whittle them down with DoTs. In a format where locking a target out of their rotation wins duels, that's huge.
  • Sorcerer — hits extremely hard from range and is more forgiving of high ping than the melee assassin, so it's a strong PvP DPS choice if your connection isn't ideal.
  • Templar / Cleric — in structured, objective PvP the tank and the healer matter as much as the damage dealer. A coordinated group still wants both.

Honest limit: nobody has climbed the ranked PvP ladder for months yet. There are no settled arena comps, and the PvP reward structure is still a live complaint — one r/Aion2 player (u/Novel_Ambassador_395, October 7, 2026) is already pushing for a proper "seasonal ranking system" with escalating rewards. This is a playstyle read, not a proven ladder meta.

Best class for beginners

If this is your first MMO or your first Aion, forget the meter for a second. The classes that are hard to play badly at launch:

  • Templar — a durable tank with a clear job: stand in front, hold threat, survive. Low mechanical pressure.
  • Cleric — straightforward rotations, and you will never struggle to get into a group because every party needs the healer.
  • Ranger — safe ranged physical DPS; you deal damage from a comfortable distance while you learn the fights, and it scales well long-term.

The class to avoid as a first character if you want an easy launch is the Assassin — it has the highest ceiling but demands back-positioning, tight combos and low latency. It's the most-reported "am I bad or is this class bad?" class on r/Aion2 in week one. One launch-week Assassin main (u/Cultural_Engineer603, October 6, 2026) summed up the feeling: "I've actually really enjoyed Assassin so far, but I feel stupidly weak and squishy... Is Assassin just unpopular because of its high skill ceiling, or am I doing something wrong?" The answer is usually: it's a hard class, and ping matters.

What about the Brawler, and all those "secret class" rumours?

A few things to clear up, because the AION 2 search results are full of noise:

  • Brawler is NOT in the global launch build. The gauntlet/rage class exists in the Korean/Taiwanese version, where it was added after the original eight. Global shipped with eight. Don't plan around a Brawler you can't make.
  • The summoner is officially named Spiritmaster in the live global client (some older pre-launch pages called it "Elementalist" — that was a placeholder).
  • Ignore the "Slayer class" and "Fist Master" posts floating around. Those trace back to seller blogs and aggregators, not NC, and are almost certainly confusion with the KR Brawler. There are eight global classes. Full stop.

Why the launch-week meta will move (and that's normal)

Three reasons this exact ranking is going to shift over the coming weeks — worth knowing before you reroll in a panic:

  • Gear and rotations are immature. Launch meters measure undergeared players still learning combos. The classes with a high skill ceiling (Assassin) and the classes that scale with gear (Ranger) both look worse right now than they'll end up.
  • Korea is the preview, not the rule. KR endgame logs put Assassin and Ranger among the top damage, and NC balances Global on its own schedule. A class near the bottom today can get a tuning pass tomorrow.
  • Balance patches are coming. NC patched the KR build repeatedly. A Gladiator buff or a Sorcerer nerf would reshuffle this table overnight.

The practical takeaway: pick the class you'll enjoy playing for 100+ hours, lean toward one that's also strong in KR endgame if you're competitive, and don't reroll off a three-day-old meter. Levelling any class to the cap is a big time sink — which is exactly why the next section matters.

Does your class choice change how you level and farm Kina?

Yes, a bit. Melee classes like Assassin clear solo packs fast but are fragile; Templar and Cleric are slower but safer; ranged classes kill from safety. But the bigger lever on how fast you progress isn't your class — it's how efficiently you run your leveling route, your dungeon unlocks and your Kina income. A DPS class that farms twice as fast still has to spend that Kina on gear and enhancement to actually climb the meter.

If you'd rather spend your play sessions in the content you enjoy than grinding the same route, that's the gap services like timesaver.gg are built to close across MMOs. AION 2 doesn't have a dedicated storefront page yet, so there's nothing AION-2-specific to point you at today — but the broader catalog is here:

Want to spend less time grinding and more time in the fights you actually like?

  • Templar — main tank, sword-and-shield. Durable, threat-focused, beginner-safe.
  • Gladiator — melee bruiser / off-tank. Big weapons, frontline damage; underperforming on early Global meters.
  • Assassin — melee burst DPS. Stealth, back-attacks, fast combos; highest ceiling, highest skill + ping floor.
  • Ranger — ranged physical DPS. Bow-based, mobile, safe; slow start on Global, top-group in KR endgame.
  • Sorcerer — ranged magic DPS. Uses a Spellbook; the launch-week damage leader.
  • Spiritmaster — summoner / control. Uses an Orb and a summoned spirit; DoTs, debuffs and a powerful fear.
  • Cleric — the only true healer. Always wanted in groups.
  • Chanter — support hybrid. Buffs, off-heals and solid melee damage; flexible and reliable.

All eight are available to both Elyos and Asmodian characters, so your faction choice doesn't lock you out of any class.

FAQ

What is the best class in AION 2 right now? On the early Global launch-week meters (October 2026), Sorcerer and Assassin are the top DPS, Sorcerer being the more forgiving of the two. Cleric is the safest overall pick because it's the only healer and always has group demand. Remember this is launch-week data and will shift as gear, rotations and balance patches land.

What is the best DPS class in AION 2? Sorcerer leads the early Global damage meters, with Assassin right behind (and higher when played perfectly on low ping). In Korea's year-ahead endgame logs, Assassin and Ranger sit in the top damage group — so Ranger is a strong "scales late" DPS even though it starts slow on Global.

Is Assassin bad in AION 2? No — it's one of the best-ceiling classes, but it's hard. It relies on back-attacks, tight combos and low latency; one common community summary is "best DPS so far, if you have the right ping." If it feels terrible, it's usually a skill curve or a ping problem, not the class being weak.

Is Gladiator good in AION 2? As a damage class at launch, it's underwhelming — low personal DPS on the launch-week charts, so it's a C-tier DPS pick right now. It's still sturdy and beginner-safe, and reportedly performs much better later in the Korean version as gear comes online, so it may improve with balance patches.

Is Brawler in AION 2 global? No. Brawler exists only in the Korean/Taiwanese version, where it was added after the original eight classes. The global launch build has eight classes: Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter.

What's the best class for beginners in AION 2? Templar (durable tank), Cleric (easy rotations, always grouped) or Ranger (safe ranged damage that scales well). Avoid starting on Assassin if you want an easy launch — it has the steepest skill and ping requirements.

Will this tier list change? Almost certainly. It's based on three days of a live game plus Korean precedent. Gear, optimised rotations and NC balance patches will reshuffle the rankings over the coming weeks — pick a class you enjoy rather than rerolling off an early meter.
