ARC Raiders Osprey Amplification: All 3 Nodes Ranked

The Osprey is ARC Raiders' Rare bolt-action sniper rifle, with a 5.66x scope, 45 damage per shot, a 2.0x headshot multiplier and an eight-round Medium Ammo magazine. Frozen Trail 2.0 made it one of the weapons you can push to Level 5 and amplify, and it gets three nodes: Tracker Rounds, Anti-Weak Point and Straight Bolt (the wiki's Amplified Weapons table labels it "Ergonomic Bolt", after its tooltip text). Two of them conflict, so you end up with at most two active, and an activated amplification can't be removed or changed. This Osprey amplification guide covers all three nodes with their exact tooltip values and costs, checked against the ARC Raiders Wiki amplified-weapons table. It also covers the research projects behind them, where the materials come from, and the order we'd unlock them in.

Quick answer (TL;DR): The Rare Osprey needs one Amplification Module Mk. III to reach Level 5, after the Gunsmith and Research Station both hit Level 4. It has three nodes. Tracker Rounds (+5s tracking, 60% lower bullet velocity, 2 Matriarch Reactor, no research listed) and Anti-Weak Point (+100% damage vs ARC weak points, less vs ARC armor plating, 2 Assessor Matrix, Targeted Component Trial research) conflict, so you pick one. Straight Bolt (bolt-action while scoped, 3 Fluted Rotor Core, Action Economy research) stacks with either. Best build for most players: Straight Bolt first, then Anti-Weak Point. Take Tracker Rounds instead only if you play the Osprey as a PvP spotting rifle.

What is Osprey amplification?

Weapon Amplification arrived with Frozen Trail 2.0 on October 8, 2026. The wiki describes amplified weapons as ones that "can be upgraded to Level 5, unlocking Amplification slots that allow raiders to modify weapon functionality" (Amplified Weapons, ARC Raiders Wiki). Level 5 sits above the normal Osprey I to IV upgrades, and the module that gets you there has to match the weapon's base rarity. The Osprey is Rare, so it takes an Amplification Module Mk. III. The upgrade alone adds +70 Max Durability, and only then do the amplification nodes open up.

The Osprey's base profile decides which node is worth it. It hits for 45 per shot, the most of any non-Legendary rifle, but its ARC armor penetration is only Moderate and its 2.0x headshot multiplier is lower than the Anvil's 2.5x. The Osprey IV upgrade already cuts bolt-action time by 60% and reload time by 37.5%. So it's an accurate, mid-penetration rifle that pays you for placement. All three amplifications either lean into that or trade some of it away.

If you're still deciding between the Osprey and the Legendary Jupiter, the best ARC Raiders weapons tier list ranks them. The Jupiter amplification guide covers the Jupiter's three nodes, one of which is the same bolt upgrade the Osprey gets.

What are the Osprey amplification nodes?

The Osprey has three amplification nodes. Tracker Rounds and Anti-Weak Point conflict with each other, so only one of them can go on the gun. Straight Bolt has no conflict with either round type. Here is each node with its tooltip values and cost, from the wiki's Sniper Rifles table:

Amplified Osprey nodes: Tracker Rounds with 2 Matriarch Reactor or Anti-Weak Point with 2 Assessor Matrix, plus Straight Bolt with 3 Fluted Rotor Core

What Anti-Weak Point does to the Osprey

Anti-Weak Point doubles the damage you deal to ARC weak points. If the +100% applies to the base 45, a weak-point hit lands for about 90 on paper, though the wiki doesn't confirm how it stacks with the game's own weak-point damage. That makes it tempting to compare with the Jupiter's 60 base damage, but the two numbers don't measure the same thing. A Jupiter shot on the same weak point gets whatever weak-point bonus the game applies too, and the Jupiter's real strength is its Very Strong armor penetration. Anti-Weak Point only rewards clean hits on exposed weak points. The tooltip also says it deals less damage to ARC armor plating, and the wiki doesn't give the Osprey's number for that penalty yet. Hit armor plating instead of the weak point and you're worse off than with a stock Osprey.

It's at its best on targets with small, exposed weak points that you can hit at range: flying ARC thrusters, leg joints, cores. The research project behind it literally trains that habit (destroy 40 thrusters on flying ARC). It does nothing in PvP, because Raiders don't have ARC weak points. If your Osprey mostly shoots other players, this node is dead weight.

What Tracker Rounds does to the Osprey

Tracker Rounds replaces the Osprey's bullets with rounds that briefly reveal the position of whatever they hit, for 5 seconds. On a long-range rifle that's real intel. Tag a Raider across a valley and their position stays revealed for a few seconds after the hit.

The cost is big for a sniper: 60% lower bullet velocity. You'll have to lead every moving target a lot further than you're used to, and long-range shots get much harder to land. It's also the expensive material path. Two Matriarch Reactors means two Legendary drops from the Matriarch, which only spawns when its map condition is active. For comparison, the Hairpin's version of Tracker Rounds costs a single Matriarch Reactor and lists no velocity penalty, so the Osprey version is the worse deal.

What Straight Bolt does to the Osprey

Straight Bolt lets you cycle the bolt without leaving the scope. There's no damage number on it, but it's the node you'll feel on every single shot. You keep your sight picture between shots, so follow-ups on a moving or retreating target are much faster and you don't lose the target while re-acquiring it. It doesn't conflict with either round type, so it fits every Osprey build, as long as you can live without your stock mod (see below).

The wiki lists a conflict with "Stock Mod". That isn't an amplification node, it points at the Osprey's Stock attachment slot. The wiki uses the same kind of tag elsewhere: the Renegade's Scoped node lists "Magazine Mod" as a conflict. So expect Straight Bolt to cost you your stock attachment. Embark hasn't confirmed it for the Osprey, so check the in-game tooltip before you activate it if you rely on a stock.

Which Osprey amplification build is best?

You can activate two nodes at most: one round type plus Straight Bolt. Since activations are permanent, choose by what your Osprey actually shoots:

  • You use the Osprey on ARC (PvE, flying ARC, Pendola Pass runs): Straight Bolt + Anti-Weak Point. Double damage on weak points plus scoped follow-ups is the strongest anti-ARC setup the Osprey can get. This is the default build.
  • You use the Osprey to pick off Raiders: Straight Bolt + Tracker Rounds, or Straight Bolt alone. Tracker Rounds gives you positional info on whoever you hit, but the 60% velocity loss makes your own long shots harder. If you're a PvP sniper, leaving the round slot empty and keeping the stock bullet speed is a valid choice.
  • You're short on Research Points: Tracker Rounds is the only node with no research listed in the wiki's Amplified Weapons and Amplified Research tables. If that holds in-game, you can activate it as soon as the Osprey hits Level 5, if you've got two Matriarch Reactors. That's rarely the cheap option in practice.

Our verdict: Straight Bolt first, Anti-Weak Point second, for most Osprey players. Straight Bolt improves every shot in every mode, and Anti-Weak Point turns the Osprey into a dedicated weak-point rifle. Tracker Rounds is a niche intel tool that costs you the thing a sniper needs most, a fast bullet.

How do you unlock Osprey amplification?

What amplifying the Osprey costs: Amplification Module Mk. III, Fireball Burners and Sentinel Firing Cores for the research, and a Hairpin for the Action Economy challenge

The chain is the same for every amplifiable weapon (Amplified Weapons, ARC Raiders Wiki):

  • Unlock and build up your Outpost. The Outpost build guide covers the order.
  • Raise the Gunsmith to Level 4.
  • Raise the Research Station to Level 4. Both benches have to be at Level 4 before Level 5 upgrades and amplifications open up.
  • Upgrade the Osprey to Level 5 at the Gunsmith with one Amplification Module Mk. III.
  • Activate your nodes. Tracker Rounds has no research listed, so it should go on right away. Anti-Weak Point and Straight Bolt need their research finished first.

The research projects

Every Amplified Research project has two steps: a challenge, then a submission of 5,000 Research Points plus ARC components (Amplified Research, ARC Raiders Wiki). Once one is done, the amplification is permanently available on every eligible Level 5 weapon.

  • Action Economy (Straight Bolt): deal 1,000 damage with a Hairpin in one round, then submit 5,000 Research Points and 8 Sentinel Firing Core. Yes, the Osprey's bolt upgrade is trained on the Hairpin pistol, so bring one as your sidearm for a raid. The same project gates the Jupiter's Straight Bolt, so if you already finished it for the Jupiter you've got it.
  • Targeted Component Trial (Anti-Weak Point): destroy 40 thrusters on flying ARC enemies, then submit 5,000 Research Points and 20 Fireball Burner. The Osprey is a fine tool for the thruster step itself.

Sentinel Firing Cores come from destroyed Sentinels and Couriers, and Fireball Burners from Fireballs and Couriers. If Research Points are your bottleneck, see which research pays best.

The materials

The three node materials send you to very different places:

  • Assessor Matrix (Anti-Weak Point, 2 needed) is an Epic item scavenged from the ARC Assessor, the unarmed machine that drops from orbit to collect samples. Breaching it calls down a squad of ARC, so clear space before you open it.
  • Fluted Rotor Core (Straight Bolt, 3 needed) is an Epic Topside Material added in Frozen Trail 2.0. The wiki only lists scavenging as its source. It's the same material the Jupiter's Scoped and Straight Bolt nodes eat (3 each), so if you're amplifying both rifles with every bolt and scope node, budget nine: three for the Osprey, six for the Jupiter.
  • Matriarch Reactor (Tracker Rounds, 2 needed) is a Legendary item from the Matriarch, which only appears under its map condition. Our Queen and Matriarch kill guide covers the fight, and the Matriarch Reactor guide covers the drop.

If you'd rather not grind the bench and research wall, the Outpost Research Boost pushes your Research Station up fast, and Frozen Trail Runs farm the ARC components the research keeps asking for.

Where do you get an Amplification Module Mk. III?

The Rare Osprey needs the Mk. III module specifically. The wiki lists two sources: the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass, opened with an Emperor Gateway Conduit, and the cargo inside the ARC Frigate during the ARC Frigate event. The Amplification Module farm guide compares the two routes. One Mk. III per Osprey is all you need. The nodes themselves cost the materials above, not more modules.

Amplified weapons also change how you handle losses. Level 5 weapons can only be repaired with Amplified Fragments, and an amplified weapon drops at 10% durability when you're knocked out. Don't take your amplified Osprey into a raid you can't afford to lose it in.

Is amplifying the Osprey worth it?

Yes, if the Osprey is already your long gun. It's the cheaper sniper to amplify: a Mk. III module instead of the Jupiter's Mk. V, and its two best nodes run on Epic materials (Assessor Matrix, Fluted Rotor Core), with only Tracker Rounds asking for Legendary Matriarch Reactors. Straight Bolt is worth it on any Osprey, even though it will likely cost you the stock slot. Anti-Weak Point is worth it if you shoot ARC, and turns the gun into a dedicated weak-point specialist. Tracker Rounds is the one to skip unless you play around positional intel, because losing 60% of your bullet velocity on a sniper is a steep price for five seconds of tracking.

For how the rest of the roster compares, the ARC Raiders amplified weapons hub lists every amplifiable gun and node.

FAQ

How many amplifications can the Osprey have? Two at most. It has three nodes, but Tracker Rounds and Anti-Weak Point conflict, so a finished Osprey runs one round type plus Straight Bolt. Activated amplifications can't be removed or changed.

Is the Osprey Anti-Weak Point amplification worth it? Yes, if you shoot ARC. It adds +100% damage against ARC weak points, so if the bonus applies to the base 45, a weak-point hit lands for about 90. It deals less damage to ARC armor plating and does nothing against Raiders, so it's a PvE pick.

What module do you need to amplify the Osprey? The Amplification Module Mk. III, because the Osprey is a Rare weapon and the module has to match the weapon's rarity. It drops from the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass and from ARC Frigate cargo.

How do you unlock Straight Bolt on the Osprey? Complete the Action Economy research at the Research Station: deal 1,000 damage with a Hairpin in one round, then submit 5,000 Research Points and 8 Sentinel Firing Core. Activating the node then costs 3 Fluted Rotor Core.

Does Osprey Tracker Rounds need research? The wiki's Amplified Weapons and Amplified Research tables list none. An older wiki summary names a "Signal-Tagging Ammunition" project, but it isn't in the research list, so confirm in-game before you plan around it. It costs 2 Matriarch Reactor once the Osprey is at Level 5, and it cuts bullet velocity by 60%.

Where do you get Assessor Matrix? By scavenging the ARC Assessor. Breaching the Assessor calls down a squad of ARC, so be ready for a fight.

Is the amplified Osprey better than the Jupiter? Not overall. The Jupiter has Very Strong ARC armor penetration to the Osprey's Moderate. The Osprey is the cheaper one to amplify (Mk. III instead of Mk. V). With Anti-Weak Point, a clean weak-point hit can land around 90 on paper, but a Jupiter hit on the same spot also gets weak-point damage, and the Jupiter punches through armor the Osprey can't.
