Quick answer: is there DLC for The Blood of Dawnwalker?
As of October 27, 2026, The Blood of Dawnwalker has no story DLC, no expansion and no season pass. The only paid DLC on Steam is the Eclipse Edition Content pack ($14.99). It holds the Digital World Compendium, the Digital Soundtrack and the Digital Comic Book, and none of it adds gameplay. Rebel Wolves CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said in June 2026 that the studio had started planning a roadmap of "smaller, free add-ons" but had "not yet made a decision." No free DLC has shipped yet and none has been dated. What is confirmed is that the studio intends to add New Game Plus and a Photo Mode, and it is already working on a sequel in the Dawnwalker saga. A big Witcher 3-style paid expansion has never been promised.
Updated October 27, 2026. Sources: the official Steam store and Rebel Wolves' Steam announcements, Tomaszkiewicz's PAP Biznes interview (via MP1st and Gamereactor), and Inven Global's October 20, 2026 studio visit. Everything here is stated intent unless we say it has shipped.
| The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3, 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. It's the debut RPG from Rebel Wolves, a Warsaw studio founded by ex-CD Projekt Red developers, including Witcher 3 game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and it's published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It sold over 1 million copies in its launch weekend, and players are now finishing Coen's 30 days and nights and asking the obvious question: is there more? Here's the short version and the full picture. |

What has Rebel Wolves actually said about DLC?
The only direct DLC statement on record comes from a June 2026 interview with Polish business outlet PAP Biznes, picked up in English by MP1st and Gamereactor. Tomaszkiewicz said:
"As for whether there will be add-ons immediately or not at all, we have recently started talks on this topic so as to plan a roadmap and timeline of smaller, free add-ons, but we have not yet made a decision." (Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, via Gamereactor)
Headlines at the time read "free DLC confirmed," and many sites still repeat that. The quote is more careful. Here's what it actually tells you:
- What it confirms: the studio was discussing a roadmap of small, free add-ons. Paid expansions weren't on the table.
- What it doesn't confirm: any specific DLC, a date, a size, or even a final decision to make them.
- Why: Tomaszkiewicz tied it to keeping the studio's "cash balance" high so the planned sequels can get made. In plain terms, the sequel is the priority and a big expansion isn't.
Four months on, Rebel Wolves hasn't put out a DLC roadmap. Its post-launch work has gone into patches. That fits the "small and free, if at all" framing.
What is the only DLC on Steam right now?
Search "Blood of Dawnwalker DLC" on Steam and you'll find one add-on listed under the game (Steam AppID 3751260). It's the Eclipse Edition Content pack, priced $14.99 in the US at the time of writing, with a September 2, 2026 release date on the store. Per the official store page, it includes:
| Item | What it is | Affects gameplay? |
|---|---|---|
| Digital World Compendium | Behind-the-scenes concept art and lore | No |
| Digital Soundtrack | The game's score in MP3 and WAV | No |
| Digital Comic Book | An exclusive comic book set in the game's world | No |
This is the same bonus content that turns the $69.99 Standard Edition into the $79.99 Eclipse Edition. If you're buying fresh, the Eclipse Edition costs $10 more than Standard. Buying Standard and adding the pack later costs $14.99, so bundling is cheaper. If you only want the music, the official soundtrack also went to streaming services. Rebel Wolves' September 29, 2026 Steam post said the score would land on "Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, YouTube Music" through the studio's accounts, while the Steam version stays exclusive to Eclipse owners and "cannot be bought separately."
Bottom line: buying this pack gets you no new quests, regions, weapons or armor. If you came here for "Blood of Dawnwalker DLC armor," the next section covers the one armor-shaped thing you may have seen.
Is the pre-order armor DLC?
Every edition came with a pre-order bonus, the Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set. It looks like DLC in your inventory, but it isn't exclusive. Microsoft's store listing notes the set "can also be obtained later in the game." If you missed the pre-order, you haven't lost anything permanent. It's an early unlock, not a separate piece of content. For a full breakdown of what each edition contains, see our which edition should you buy guide.
Will there be story DLC or a big expansion like Blood and Wine?
Nothing announced points that way. People keep comparing it to The Witcher 3, whose Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions were huge. That's understandable, since some of the same people made both games. But Rebel Wolves has given no indication of a paid story expansion for Dawnwalker, and Tomaszkiewicz's only DLC comment was about smaller, free add-ons.
The more useful Witcher 3 parallel is the free one. In 2015, CD Projekt Red released 16 small free DLCs for The Witcher 3: outfits, a few contracts, a New Game Plus mode. That's the model "smaller, free add-ons" brings to mind, which is likely why Push Square called it Dawnwalker "pulling a Witcher 3." It's still only an analogy. Rebel Wolves hasn't said its add-ons would look like CDPR's.
There's also a design reason story DLC is tricky here. The game is built around 30 days and 30 nights, and the main endings branch in the final quest, "A Deal with the Devil." Finishing an ending returns you to the title screen, with no post-credits free-roam on that save. A traditional "after the credits" expansion has nothing to attach to unless the studio builds around that structure. That's our analysis, not a Rebel Wolves statement, but it helps explain why NG+ came up first. If you've just finished, our all endings guide covers how to see the rest from earlier saves.
What post-launch content is actually confirmed?
So far, everything new has come from free updates, and Rebel Wolves has publicly committed to a few more. As of October 27, 2026:
| Content | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Update 1.1: respec (Draught of Mind Rebirth), new Story mode, Buyback, FrameGen settings, animal petting | Shipped Oct 22, 2026 (free, PC/PS5/Xbox) | Official Steam patch notes |
| New Game Plus | Intended, no date | Tomaszkiewicz on stream (MP1st, Sep 17); Inven Global, Oct 21 |
| Photo Mode | Intended, no date | Inven Global, Oct 21 |
| Free "smaller add-ons" | Discussed, undecided (as of June 2026) | PAP Biznes via MP1st/Gamereactor |
| Paid story expansion / season pass | Not announced | None |
| Sequel ("next chapter of the Dawnwalker saga") | In early development | Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek, Sep 9 |
During an October 20, 2026 studio visit by Korean and Japanese press, Rebel Wolves "revealed that they intend to add a Photo Mode and New Game Plus functionality, as well as work on a sequel that expands the 'Dawnwalker' universe" (Inven Global). That's the latest official word, and it doesn't mention DLC at all.
One note of caution: NG+ was not in Update 1.1, and Polygon's coverage of the patch described the studio as still looking into it, with no hard date. Treat NG+ as planned, not scheduled. We track it on our New Game Plus page.
Will DLC cost money? What about microtransactions?
Rebel Wolves has drawn a hard line on monetization. At the October 20 studio visit, the studio said it pursues "a complete package format where players can enjoy all content upon purchasing the game, maintaining a strict policy against introducing in-game microtransactions" (Inven Global). Combined with Tomaszkiewicz's "smaller, free add-ons" comment, the realistic expectations are:
- Microtransactions: none, and the studio says there won't be any.
- Small add-ons: if they come, they're expected to be free.
- Paid content: today that's only the Eclipse Edition Content pack, which is cosmetic and collectible, not gameplay.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a single-player, buy-once RPG with no multiplayer, no battle pass and no live service. That hasn't changed since launch.
Why is Rebel Wolves prioritizing a sequel over DLC?
The studio has said so openly. The Blood of Dawnwalker was always pitched as the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga, a series meant to move across different eras and cultures. On September 9, 2026, Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek posted a hiring call for a Lead Writer for "the next chapter of the Dawnwalker saga," less than a week after launch. In the June interview, Tomaszkiewicz framed the money decisions around funding those sequels.
The numbers back the bet. Rebel Wolves reported over 1 million copies sold in the launch weekend, and Inven Global's visit put development cost at roughly $40 million with a team that has grown to about 166 people. With a sequel already in production, expect any first-game add-ons to stay small. The bigger continuation is the next game. Our sequel and sales breakdown covers what's known about it.
Should you wait for DLC before playing?
No. Nothing announced would change the base game, and the free updates so far install automatically. Here's who should do what:
- Haven't started: play now on the current 1.1 version, which already has respec and the reworked easier difficulties. Story DLC isn't coming soon enough to wait for. See how long it takes to beat to plan your run.
- Finished once: keep a manual save from before the final quest. If NG+ arrives, it will almost certainly want a completed save, and an earlier save lets you see other endings now.
- Considering the Eclipse Edition Content: buy it for the art, music and comic, not for gameplay.
We'll update this page as soon as Rebel Wolves announces any DLC, add-on or NG+ date.
