The Clash Royale King at his desk on the Daily Puzzles title card from the October 2026 TV Royale previewing Season 89 King vs King

Updated October 27, 2026 · based on the official TV Royale episode of October 23, 2026, Supercell's official Shocktober release notes and the official Ranked trophy schedule · applies to Season 89 (November 2026). Season 89 is announced, not live. We'll update this page when the season's release notes go up.

Quick answer: Clash Royale Season 89 is called "King vs. King" and is expected to start Monday, November 2, 2026, the day Season 88's remaining events (the Album, C.H.A.O.S Draft, C.H.A.O.S Power Surge and the 20-Win Challenge) end. Supercell calls November "competitive season." Confirmed in the October 2026 TV Royale: a new Evo Giant that leaves a Rage trail behind him, Evo Mirror, a different group of win conditions in the spotlight each week (win with them to earn Tokens for the Season Market), win-condition Challenges with pre-built decks, a week of Daily Puzzles, and the Deck Wizard coming to Trophy Road. The Ranked unlock rises to 14,000 trophies in November, and the CRL World Finals run November 6–8, where Supercell will reveal "a whole new way to compete." No balance changes are planned for the season start.

Season 88 was a party season: Spooky Chess, three flavours of C.H.A.O.S, a horror-movie Album. Season 89 goes the other way. The TV Royale episode opens with one line: "Playtime's over. Competitive season. Sit down, take notes."

This guide puts everything Supercell has actually confirmed in one place. It also flags what is still a leak, and lists what you need to finish in Season 88 before it closes.

Key takeaways

  • Name: Season 89, "King vs. King" (TV Royale title card, October 23, 2026).
  • Start date: expected Monday, November 2, 2026. Supercell hasn't printed the date yet, but every Season 88 event still running ends on November 2 in the official notes.
  • New Evolutions: Evo Giant and Evo Mirror.
  • Season loop: weekly win-condition spotlights → milestones → Tokens → Season Market.
  • New modes: win-condition Challenges with pre-built decks, plus one week of Daily Puzzles.
  • Trophy Road: the Deck Wizard builds decks from the cards you own.
  • Ranked: the trophy requirement goes from 13,500 to 14,000 in November.
  • Esports: CRL World Finals, November 6–8, with viewer predictions, polls and rewards.
  • Balance: Supercell says there will be no balance changes at the start of the November season.

When does Clash Royale Season 89 start?

The safe answer is Monday, November 2, 2026, at the usual daily reset.

That date isn't in a Supercell post yet. TV Royale shows the "Season 89: King vs. King" card but never gives a calendar date. Every Season 88 event that is still running ends on the same day, though. (Earlier ones like Spooky Chess and C.H.A.O.S Blackout already finished.) The official Shocktober release notes list the Shocktober: The Movie! Album Event (October 6 – November 2), C.H.A.O.S Draft (October 19 – November 2), C.H.A.O.S Power Surge (October 26 – November 2) and the CRL 20-Win Challenge ("October 26th – November 2nd"). Clash Royale seasons also turn over on Mondays, and November 2 is a Monday. Season 88 itself started on Monday, October 5.

If Supercell publishes a different date, we'll correct this line first.

How does Evo Giant work?

Evo Giant is the headline card of Season 89. Here is how TV Royale describes him:

"He plays like the Giant you know, a tank who targets buildings, but once he's taken enough damage, he gets angry. Really angry. His punches speed up, alternating left and right."

Evo Giant in Clash Royale Season 89 leaving a purple Rage trail that his supporting troops walk through, from the October 2026 TV Royale

The second half of the card is the part that matters more:

"He leaves a trail of it behind him, so anything supporting him could walk straight into it and channel his rage. So, the longer he survives, the scarier the push becomes."

So Evo Giant has two jobs. He hits harder once he's hurt, and he rages whatever is walking behind him. For a Giant deck, that means you want support troops queued directly behind him in the same lane. In practice that's Musketeer, Minions, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Witch, or a Graveyard dropped once he reaches the tower. Rage only matters if something is standing in it.

What's not confirmed: Supercell didn't give his health threshold, Evolution cycle count or Rage numbers. RoyaleAPI's preview (shared on r/ClashRoyale) puts the trigger at 50% health. Treat that as provisional until the season goes live.

How to play against him: kill the support, not the Giant. A Giant that is alone in his own Rage is still just a Giant. Spells that clear the troops behind him (Fireball, Poison, Arrows, The Log, depending on what he's carrying) take the push apart. If you play Giant Graveyard, our Giant Graveyard deck guide covers which Evolutions currently fit that deck. Evo Giant becomes a direct candidate for that slot.

What we don't know yet: how you unlock Evo Giant. Supercell hasn't said whether he comes from the Pass, an event or the shop. We'll add it on launch day.

What does Evo Mirror do?

Evo Mirror is the other new Evolution, and it's the one r/ClashRoyale has been arguing about. One commenter in the RoyaleAPI Evo Giant thread called Giant's Evolution easy to overlook and added: "Evo mirror though, that's what is very exciting."

The official rule from TV Royale: Mirror copies your last card one level higher, and when the Evolution is charged, "the copy comes out evolved. Even if the evolution isn't in your Evo slot. Even if you don't own it." That allows two things the game never allowed before: a Hero and an Evolution of the same card on the field at the same time, and the same Evolution twice. If you Mirror a card that has no Evolution, "you'll only get the regular Mirror effect."

We covered combos, the unconfirmed leak numbers and the best cards to copy in our full Evo Mirror guide. The short version for Season 89 planning: the evolved copy depends on the card you Mirror, so make sure your deck has a few good Evolution-capable cards to copy.

How do weekly win conditions and the Season Market work?

This is the backbone of Season 89. TV Royale: "This season is all about getting you to play with different win conditions. Each week a new group of win conditions will hog the spotlight. And each one comes with its own milestones. Win with them to earn tokens and spend those tokens in the season market."

Season 89 win condition milestones in Clash Royale: win 5 battles with Balloon or Royal Hogs for 180 Tokens each

The preview footage shows what those milestones look like. Each one reads "Win 5 battles with [card]" and pays 180 Tokens. Across the clips, the spotlighted win conditions include Giant, Battle Ram, Royal Giant, Ram Rider, Balloon, Royal Hogs, Three Musketeers, Minion Giant, Goblin Barrel, Hog Rider and Mortar. That's 11 win conditions visible on screen. Supercell didn't say which ones are grouped into which week.

Clash Royale Season 89 Season Market preview with rewards priced at 300 Tokens each and a final rewards might vary notice

The Season Market preview shows rewards priced at 300 Tokens each, with a banner that reads "Final rewards might vary." If those numbers ship, the math is simple: two milestones (360 Tokens) buy one 300-Token item with 60 left over. Each milestone needs 5 wins with one specific card. As a rough example, if milestones count separately, that's about 10 wins with spotlight cards per Market item. Supercell hasn't said whether one win can count toward two milestones.

What that means for you:

  • Build one flexible deck per week around that week's spotlight card. You only need 5 wins per milestone, not a perfect deck.
  • Start with the win condition you already play. If Hog Rider is in your main deck, its milestone is close to free.
  • Use the pre-built Challenge decks (below) for win conditions you don't own at a decent level.

One correction to recap sites: several call this the "Royal Market." The name on Supercell's footage is Season Market.

What are the Season 89 win condition Challenges?

TV Royale: "We've also got win condition challenges with pre-built decks ready and waiting for you."

Clash Royale WinCon Fast Pressure Challenge and WinCon Beatdown Challenge with a free entry fee in the Season 89 preview

The preview UI shows two of them: a WinCon Fast Pressure Challenge (Hog Rider art) and a WinCon Beatdown Challenge, both with a free entry fee. Pre-built decks mean your card levels and collection don't matter, so these are the cheapest way to try a win condition you've never played. Nothing official says yet whether Challenge wins count toward the weekly milestones. Check the milestone screen before you rely on it.

How do Clash Royale Daily Puzzles work?

Daily Puzzles are the most unusual mode this season. The official rules from TV Royale:

  • One week of the season, with a new puzzle every day.
  • You get up to four cards, and each one can be played only once.
  • The other side's cards are placed the same way every time.
  • You solve it by figuring out what to do with your cards, in the fewest attempts possible.

The puzzles shown in the preview are named "Heavy Metal Tour" and "Ram Reroute." Because the opponent's placements never change, every failed attempt teaches you something. Watch where each enemy troop lands and when, then plan your four plays around that timing.

What is the Deck Wizard on Trophy Road?

TV Royale: "The Deck Wizard is coming to Trophy Road. It builds you a deck using the cards you own with multiple options to choose from. Lock the cards you want to keep and let the Deck Wizard build around them."

The Clash Royale Deck Wizard on Trophy Road suggesting a Golem Beatdown deck built from cards the player owns

The preview shows suggestions like Golem Beatdown (3.9 average Elixir) and Hog Rider Cycle, each with a short plain-English game plan underneath. This mostly helps newer players and anyone coming back after a break. For pushing specific arenas, our arena guides still go further, from Arena 4 up to Arena 16, because they take the meta into account. The Deck Wizard only uses your collection.

What changes for Ranked in Season 89?

The trophy requirement to unlock Ranked rises to 14,000 in November. This was published in July, not announced at TV Royale. Supercell's Update to Ranked Trophy Requirements post set the schedule:

Months (2026)Trophies to unlock Ranked
July & August13,000
September & October13,500
November14,000

Supercell's wording: "we're lowering the Trophy requirement to 13,000 starting today, and increasing the time between Trophy requirement increases to 2 months, until we settle back on 14,000 Trophies."

What this means in practice:

  • If you're between 13,500 and 14,000 right now, you have about a week left before the bar moves up.
  • Reaching Champion league in Ranked during Season 88 gives you automatic entry next season under the entry rules Supercell set in June 2025, no trophy grind needed.
  • Don't confuse this with Ranked's internal steps. Inside Ranked you climb leagues by wins and losses, not trophies.

Will there be balance changes at the start of Season 89?

No, not at the start. Supercell moved the November balance pass forward. Its official October balance changes page says "we are implementing the seasonal November balance changes earlier, in mid-October" and "we won't be introducing balance changes at the start of the November season," because the CRL World Finals are in early November. Supercell left room to adjust after World Finals.

So the meta you play on November 2 is the meta from the October 19 update, plus whatever Evo Giant and Evo Mirror change. Our October 2026 balance changes breakdown and best decks for October 2026 stay current into the new season.

When are the CRL World Finals, and what is the "new way to compete"?

CRL World Finals: November 6–8, 2026. From TV Royale: "Watch it on the event platform or with your favorite creators. Make your predictions, cheer for players, answer the polls, and win rewards." That's free in-game rewards just for watching and predicting.

The bigger tease came just before that line: "there is something brand new on the way. A whole new way to compete" with its own rewards. Supercell wouldn't say more: "you're going to find out at World Finals." Expect that announcement November 6–8. Supercell hasn't said how it relates to Ranked or Trophy Road.

What should you finish in Season 88 before November 2?

These all end on November 2 according to the official Shocktober notes:

  • Shocktober: The Movie! Album Event (October 6 – November 2). This is the free Evo Electro Giant reward. If your Album is incomplete, this week is your last chance. See our Evo Electro Giant guide.
  • CRL 20-Win Challenge (October 26 – November 2). "Win 20 games with less than 3 losses." Deck picks are in our 20-Win Challenge guide.
  • C.H.A.O.S Draft and C.H.A.O.S Power Surge (both end November 2). See best C.H.A.O.S mode decks.
  • The Ranked unlock at 13,500. If you're close, push before the bar moves to 14,000.
