Updated October 25, 2026 · applies to Season 88 (Shocktober), the October 6 balance patch and the October 19 balance update.
Quick answer: The best deck for Arena 4 (Spell Valley, 1,000–1,299 trophies) in October 2026 is Giant + Skeleton Dragons beatdown: Giant, Skeleton Dragons, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Minions, Bomber, Skeletons, Fireball and Arrows (3.25 average Elixir). Every card is Common or Rare and unlocks at or before Arena 4. If you'd rather defend and counter-punch, run Battle Ram + Bomb Tower control (about 3.1 Elixir). Skip the Wizard for now: it's the lowest-rated card at this trophy range despite its September buff.
Spell Valley is the first arena where your deck stops being "whatever the tutorial gave you." It hands you six new cards at once, two of them expensive buildings, and most players try the Wizard first because he looks like the strongest card in the set. The numbers say otherwise. This guide uses only cards you can own at 1,000 trophies. It shows which of the six new cards actually win games, which Trophy Road picks to take, and what Supercell's September and October balance passes changed for this arena.
Key takeaways
- Arena 4 is Spell Valley, from 1,000 to 1,299 trophies, with a King Level 4 requirement. At 1,300 you move into Arena 5, Builder's Workshop, which needs King Level 5 (Clash Royale Wiki: Arenas).
- It unlocks 6 cards: Wizard, Inferno Tower and Bomb Tower (Rare), plus Skeleton Dragons, Fire Spirit and Electro Spirit (Common).
- It also unlocks Card Mastery, and Lucky Chests can start dropping Battle Banners and Emotes.
- Skeleton Dragons are the best card at this range: RoyaleTracker rates them the only S tier card at 52.1% (checked October 25, 2026, RoyaleTracker: Arena 4).
- Wizard was buffed on September 8 (damage 281 → 304, +8%) but still sits at the bottom of the same table at 42.8%.
- No balance changes at the start of the November season. Supercell moved its November changes forward to October 19 because of the CRL World Finals, so we expect these decks to hold into Season 89 unless Supercell adjusts cards after the World Finals.
Which cards can you use at Arena 4?
Your card pool in Spell Valley is everything from the Training Camp through Arena 4 (Clash Royale Wiki: Arenas):
| Arena | Trophies | Cards it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Training Camp + Arena 1 | 0–299 | Knight, Archers, Musketeer, Giant, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Minions, Arrows, Fireball, Goblins, Spear Goblins, Goblin Cage, Goblin Hut |
| 2 · Bone Pit | 300–599 | Skeletons, Bomber, Valkyrie, Tombstone |
| 3 · Barbarian Bowl | 600–999 | Cannon, Barbarians, Mega Minion, Battle Ram |
| 4 · Spell Valley | 1,000–1,299 | Wizard, Inferno Tower, Bomb Tower, Skeleton Dragons, Fire Spirit, Electro Spirit |
That's 26 cards. Hog Rider, Zap and Minion Giant are not in your pool yet. They unlock at Arena 5, so any "best Arena 4 deck" built around them is a deck you can't play. Epics such as Baby Dragon, Witch and Skeleton Army wait until Arena 6, and Legendaries until Arena 11.
What is the best deck for Arena 4 right now?
Our pick for most players between 1,000 and 1,299 trophies is Giant + Skeleton Dragons beatdown. It's built from the two highest-rated cards in Spell Valley: Skeleton Dragons (52.1%) and Giant (51.3%). Skeleton Dragons are also the Trophy Road reward at 1,175 trophies, where you get 200 copies for free.
The deck (3.25 average Elixir):
| Card | Elixir | Rarity | Job |
|---|---|---|---|
| Giant | 5 | Rare | Win condition, tank |
| Skeleton Dragons | 4 | Common | Splash support, air and ground |
| Mini P.E.K.K.A | 4 | Rare | Tank killer, counter-push |
| Minions | 3 | Common | Air defence, cheap damage |
| Bomber | 2 | Common | Swarm defence |
| Skeletons | 1 | Common | Cheapest distraction in the game |
| Fireball | 4 | Rare | Medium spell |
| Arrows | 3 | Common | Small spell, kills Minions and Goblins |
That's 26 Elixir across 8 cards, a 3.25 average.
How to play it: defend the first minute cheaply, then start a Giant from the back of your side once you're up on Elixir. Drop Skeleton Dragons behind him as he crosses the bridge. Giant has 3,968 HP at Level 11 (Clash Royale Wiki: Giant), so he soaks Crown Tower shots while the Dragons splash anything sent to stop him.
Why Skeleton Dragons are hard to answer here: each of the two dragons has 560 HP at Level 11. Arrows hits three times for a total of 366, so at equal levels Arrows doesn't clear them on its own; Fireball does. With Arrows in 23.2% of decks on RoyaleTracker's Arena 4 snapshot and Fireball in 22.5%, you'll see the weaker answer more often than the strong one. Bait out Fireball with a Minions or Bomber play first, then commit the Dragons.
What to watch for: Inferno Tower. Its beam ramps from 43 to 158 to 847 damage per hit the longer it locks on, so a lone Giant melts. When you see one, hold the Giant, or drop Skeletons or Minions in front of him so the Inferno locks onto them first. Once it's already locked on the Giant, only a stun like Electro Spirit resets the charge. The Inferno Tower section below covers it from the other side.
Option: swap Minions for Mega Minion (also 3 Elixir) if you're losing to enemy Arrows. One sturdier flier survives small spells that wipe the Minion trio.
Is Battle Ram + Bomb Tower a good Arena 4 deck?
Yes, if you'd rather defend first. Bomb Tower is the best of the three new Rares at this range (50.8%), and it's a choice reward at 1,025 trophies, the first stop on Spell Valley's Trophy Road.
The deck (3.1 average Elixir):
- Battle Ram (win condition, 4)
- Bomb Tower (building, ground splash, 4)
- Knight (mini-tank, 3)
- Mega Minion (air defence, 3)
- Minions (air defence, 3)
- Electro Spirit (stun, cycle, 1)
- Fireball (medium spell, 4)
- Arrows (small spell, 3)
That's 25 Elixir across 8 cards, a 3.125 average.
How to play it: Bomb Tower does the defending. It has 1,356 HP, a 6-tile range and hits for 222 every 1.8 seconds at Level 11, then drops a bomb for another 222 when it's destroyed (Clash Royale Wiki: Bomb Tower). Place it in the middle so it pulls Giants and Battle Rams away from your Crown Tower. After a clean defence, send Battle Ram at the bridge with Knight in front.
Be honest about Battle Ram: it rates 48.0% in RoyaleTracker's table, below average. It's in this deck because it's the only 4-Elixir win condition you own before Arena 5. Supercell also raised its sight range from 5.5 to 6.5 tiles on September 8 because it was "often able to bypass standard building placements." That makes your Ram easier to pull with a building, and makes an enemy Ram easier for your Bomb Tower to catch. Bomb Tower is the card doing the work. If you'd rather not run Battle Ram, use the Giant deck above.
What beats it: air. Bomb Tower only targets ground troops, so Skeleton Dragons and Minions go straight past it. That's why this list carries two fliers and both spells.
Should you use the Wizard at Arena 4?
Not yet. The Wizard is the lowest-rated card at Arena 4: 42.8% across 0.7% of decks. That's nearly 7 points below the 49.66% baseline.
That's odd for a card Supercell just buffed. The September 8 patch raised his damage from 281 to 304 (+8%) with this explanation: "Wizard was too dependent on his Evolution and Hero forms to have his own impact on the Arena. He'll now be able to take out Firecracker and Archers with a single fireball." (September Balance Changes, September 2026). That target list is why the buff doesn't show at low ladder: Firecracker isn't in your pool at all, and Archers appear in less than 1% of decks on RoyaleTracker's Arena 4 snapshot. Meanwhile he still costs 5 Elixir for 832 HP, less than half the 1,907 HP of a 4-Elixir Valkyrie.
The trap in the top "best Arena 4 deck" results: RoyaleTracker's two hand-picked Arena 4 decks both use the Wizard. One runs Giant, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Knight, Wizard, Minions, Archers, Fireball and Arrows. The other runs Battle Ram, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Valkyrie, Knight, Wizard, Musketeer, Barbarians and Fireball. Both include the card that site's own data ranks last, and the second also carries Valkyrie (45.1%) and Musketeer (46.7%). Take the 45 Wizard copies at 1,125 trophies, but keep him out of your deck until you have a tank and the Elixir to protect him. If you're facing him, our Wizard counter guide covers the matchup.
Which Arena 4 cards are worth leveling?
Gold is tight at this stage, so spend it on cards that pay off. Here are the six new cards from RoyaleTracker's card tiers (snapshot checked October 25, 2026, RoyaleTracker: Arena 4):
| Arena 4 card | Elixir | Rarity | Win rate | Use rate | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skeleton Dragons | 4 | Common | 52.1% | 2.9% | Level it. Best card in Spell Valley. |
| Bomb Tower | 4 | Rare | 50.8% | 2.4% | Best of the new buildings. |
| Electro Spirit | 1 | Common | 48.8% | 11.3% | Fine as a 1-Elixir stun. Can't hit Crown Towers on its own. |
| Inferno Tower | 5 | Rare | 48.8% | 4.0% | Situational anti-tank. |
| Fire Spirit | 1 | Common | 48.7% | 2.3% | Cheap splash. Buffed in September. |
| Wizard | 5 | Rare | 42.8% | 0.7% | Skip for now. |
(The baseline win rate across all cards is 49.66%.)
A note on that data: RoyaleTracker doesn't publish the sample size or date range behind its Arena 4 page, and card rates measure cards, not whole decks. Treat the percentages as a low-ladder snapshot and a direction, not proof that any single deck is best.
The older cards matter just as much. The A tier at this range is Giant (51.3%), Goblin Cage (51.2%), Goblin Hut and Tombstone (50.9%), Minions (50.7%), Bomber (50.6%), Fireball and Barbarians (50.2%). Both decks above lean on that list plus Skeleton Dragons: five of the Giant deck's eight cards and three of the Battle Ram deck's are S or A tier.
A note on the spirits: since the August 2026 balance changes, Fire Spirit and Electro Spirit no longer damage Crown Towers on their own. Fire Spirit got a small buff on September 16 (damage 207 → 215, +4%), but play both as 1-Elixir defensive tools, not chip damage.
Should you use Inferno Tower or Bomb Tower?
At 1,025 trophies, Trophy Road makes you choose: 40 copies of Inferno Tower or 40 copies of Bomb Tower. Take Bomb Tower for most decks. It costs 4 Elixir instead of 5, it rates two points higher (50.8% vs 48.8%) and it handles the Skeletons (19.3% of decks), Goblins and Barbarians that fill this range.
Take Inferno Tower only if Giants keep beating you. It has 1,748 HP and its beam climbs to 847 damage per hit after a few seconds on one target (Clash Royale Wiki: Inferno Tower). The weakness is targeting. It locks onto the first thing in range, so Skeletons or Minions placed ahead of a tank soak the beam, and an Electro Spirit stun resets the charge to the bottom stage. Skeletons and Electro Spirit are both common at this range.
What decks will you face in Spell Valley?
- Spell-heavy decks. Arrows (23.2%) and Fireball (22.5%) are the two most-used cards on the snapshot. Don't drop Minions and Skeleton Dragons next to each other when your opponent has both spells up.
- Skeletons everywhere. In 19.3% of decks on the snapshot. Since October 19 they always split on middle tiles (spawn spread 0.4 → 0.5 tiles), per Supercell's October Balance Changes. Bomber, Arrows and Skeleton Dragons still clear them.
- Goblin Hut. In 5.4% of decks. Fireball clears the Spear Goblins but not the Hut (1,228 HP at Level 11 against Fireball's 688), so send Giant or Battle Ram down that lane: both lock onto the nearest building.
- Cannon and Goblin Cage. Giant and Battle Ram walk into them. Place your win condition on the far side of the lane, or play it when their building is out of cycle.
- Mini P.E.K.K.A. In 5.2% of decks and the main Giant killer you'll face. Keep Skeletons or Minions ready to distract it.
How do you get out of Arena 4 faster?
Spell Valley has six Trophy Road rewards (Clash Royale Wiki: Arenas):
| Trophies | Reward |
|---|---|
| 1,025 | 40 copies of Inferno Tower or Bomb Tower (your choice) |
| 1,075 | 2,000 Gold |
| 1,125 | 45 copies of Wizard |
| 1,175 | 200 copies of Skeleton Dragons |
| 1,225 | 300 copies of Fire Spirit or Electro Spirit (your choice) |
| 1,275 | 2,000 Gold |
Claim them. It's easy to feel under-leveled while sitting on unclaimed Trophy Road rewards. You collect each one by tapping the Arena icon above the Battle button. If you drop back below a threshold before claiming, you can't claim it until you climb back. That's 4,000 Gold and 585 card copies sitting on this one arena.
Take Bomb Tower at 1,025 and Electro Spirit at 1,225 if you're playing the Battle Ram deck. Gold per level is the same for every rarity, so a Common deck doesn't save Gold. The advantage is that Common and Rare copies are much easier to obtain.
Three habits get you to 1,300 faster than switching decks:
- Pick one deck and stay with it. You only learn matchups by playing them.
- Count Elixir on big drops. A Giant or Wizard played at the back is your cue to pressure the other lane.
- Stop after two losses in a row. Once you've reached Spell Valley, its Trophy Gate stops your trophies from dropping below 1,000. Tilt still costs you progress.
Check your King Level before 1,300. Builder's Workshop needs King Level 5. If you're still King Level 4, you won't move into Arena 5 until you level up, so upgrade cards for XP on the way.
Arena 5 is where Heroes unlock, and new players get 200 free Hero Coins on arrival. Our best deck for Arena 5 (Builder's Workshop) picks up where this guide ends, and the Giant deck above carries straight into it. For the whole ladder, see all 32 Clash Royale arenas in order.
