Garden of Salvation is Destiny 2's Black Garden raid — the endgame that shipped alongside Shadowkeep in October 2019 and still stands as the home of one of the game's best team-DPS weapons: the Divinity exotic Trace Rifle. This guide walks all four encounters, the complete loot table, the Divinity quest, and exactly how the tether mechanic works — verified against Destinypedia, light.gg, and Bungie's own sources.

Quick answer: Garden of Salvation at a glance
Garden of Salvation is a free 6-player raid set deep in the Black Garden, built around one shared mechanic — tethers. You link floating Vex boxes into chains to power relays and confluxes, earn the Enlightened buff, and juggle the stacking Voltaic Overflow debuff across four encounters, ending at the Sanctified Mind, Sol Inherent. The raid drops 7 Legendary weapons + a full armor set (the Kentarch 3 Suit), and it's the only place tied to the Divinity exotic quest.
- Players: 6 · Location: The Black Garden · Matchmaking: none — pre-form a fireteam or use Fireteam Finder
- Encounters: 4 · Raid exotic: Divinity (via the Divine Fragmentation quest)
- New in 2026: every raid weapon is craftable; armor drops in Tiers 3–5
- Power level: effectively a non-issue today — reach the current soft cap and you're well above the raid's original requirement

What changed in Garden of Salvation for 2026?
Garden of Salvation plays exactly as it always has, but its loot pool got a major overhaul that makes it worth farming again. As of Episode: Revenant (October 2024), every Garden of Salvation weapon is craftable at the Enclave — collect five red-border (Deepsight) patterns per weapon and you can roll a guaranteed god-roll instead of praying to RNG.
Then came Update 9.7.0 "Monument of Triumph" (released June 9, 2026), Destiny 2's last major content update before the game moved to maintenance mode. Armor now rolls in the tiered system — standard clears reward Tier 3 gear, while Master content rewards Tier 5.
One thing to ignore: any old guide quoting a specific Power requirement (the raid launched needing ~940) is out of date. The power system was re-baselined long ago, and Bungie confirmed the ceiling is frozen. As the official @DestinyTheGame account put it: "There is no Power Level increase for Monument of Triumph. The maximum Power cap will remain at 550." Chase gear tiers and set bonuses now, not Power numbers.
The core mechanic: tethers, relics & Voltaic Overflow
Every encounter in Garden of Salvation revolves around tethers. Shoot a lit Vex box and it fires a beam to the nearest box or relay — chain enough of them together and you power a conflux or a relay, which is how you progress and how you open damage windows.
Two supporting mechanics sit on top of that:
- Enlightened — standing inside a powered tether/conflux grants the Enlightened buff. Only Enlightened Guardians can break the immunity on sacrificing Vex and stop them from draining a conflux, and only Enlightened players can bank Voltaic Motes at the final bosses.
- Voltaic Overflow — a stacking damage-over-time debuff you pick up in the opening section. Share it by standing near teammates so it resets; ignore it and it kills you. This is the "keep moving, keep grouped" pressure that defines the raid's traversal.
Learn to read the tether lines and rotate the buff cleanly, and the whole raid opens up. That's Garden of Salvation in one sentence.
Encounter 1 — How do you get past the opening tether section (Evade the Consecrated Mind)?
The first encounter is a traversal puzzle, not a boss fight. The Consecrated Mind floats overhead but stays invulnerable — your job is to advance through the arena by forming tether chains.
Split into two teams of three. Each team shoots the floating Vex boxes to link tether chains from a starting relay to the next node, powering it and unlocking the path forward. As you push, players pick up Voltaic Overflow stacks, so keep grouped and pass the debuff around to reset it. Clear the connective tether puzzles in sequence and the encounter completes — no DPS phase, just clean chains and debuff management.
Encounter 2 — How does the second encounter work (Summon the Consecrated Mind)?
The second encounter is a diamond-shaped arena with four relays and a set of confluxes. The goal is to draw the Consecrated Mind out by feeding the tethers.
Kill the Angelic enemies to drop the shields protecting the tether boxes, then guide tethers into the confluxes to gain the Enlightened buff. Waves of Vex sacrifice units rush the confluxes to drain them — only Enlightened players can break their immunity and stop the sacrifice before the team wipes. Rotate the buff, defend all confluxes, and you summon the boss for the next fight.
Team tip: assign one or two "runners" to hold Enlightenment and body-block sacrifices while the rest of the team maintains the tether chains. Split roles cleanly and this encounter stops being chaotic.
Encounter 3 — How do you beat the Consecrated Mind, Sol Inherent?
This is the first real boss. The Consecrated Mind is a mobile Vex Mind that skates around the arena, and you damage it by exposing and shooting its eyes.
Split duties again: one team banks Voltaic Motes (the encounter needs 30 total) at a lit relay to charge the damage phase, while the other team chases the boss. When the Consecrated Mind opens up, detained players call out which eyes are lit — inner circle vs outer circle — and the team shoots the correct exposed eyes. Bank all the required motes and you trigger the damage window. Whittle it down across a couple of cycles and it falls.

Encounter 4 — How do you defeat the Sanctified Mind (final boss)?
The Sanctified Mind, Sol Inherent is the raid's climax and its most mechanically dense fight. Break into three teams of two covering different zones.
Each pair collects Voltaic Motes from red and blue portal zones and banks 15 to gain Enlightenment, then defends the confluxes from sacrificing Vex — same core loop as before, higher stakes. To open the damage window, players tether matching-colored energy into the boss following its cross pattern; line up the correct colors and the Sanctified Mind exposes itself. Pour on damage, survive the add pressure, and repeat until it dies. It's a lot of moving parts, so callouts matter more here than anywhere else in the raid.
Garden of Salvation full loot table
Every Garden of Salvation weapon carries the Photoinhibition origin trait and, since Revenant, is fully craftable at the Enclave. Here's the complete drop list:
| Weapon | Type | Element | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zealot's Reward | Fusion Rifle | Void | Craftable |
| Reckless Oracle | Auto Rifle | Void | Craftable |
| Prophet of Doom | Shotgun | Arc | Craftable |
| Ancient Gospel | Hand Cannon | Void | Solar at launch, changed to Void in Revenant |
| Sacred Provenance | Pulse Rifle | Kinetic | Craftable |
| Accrued Redemption | Combat Bow | Kinetic | Craftable |
| Omniscient Eye | Sniper Rifle | Solar | Craftable |
| Divinity | Trace Rifle (Exotic) | Arc | Quest-only — see below |
The armor set is the Kentarch 3 Suit (one version per class — Warlock, Titan, Hunter). Standard clears drop Tier 3 gear; Master content pushes rewards to Tier 5.
How to get Divinity in Destiny 2 (the Divine Fragmentation quest)
Divinity is an Exotic Arc Trace Rifle and one of the best support weapons in the game — its intrinsic Judgment perk envelops whatever you shoot in a Vex "cage" that weakens and stuns the target, letting your whole fireteam focus-fire a boss. A second perk, Penance, deals a burst of damage to enemies held in Judgment long enough. It also stuns Overload Champions without a mod.
You unlock it through the Divine Fragmentation quest:
- Start on the Moon. Head to Sorrow's Harbor and enter the Lunar Battlegrounds cave system to find the Vex boss Zeteon, Redemptive Mind. Defeat it — it drops the Exotic engram that begins Divine Fragmentation.
- Complete the intro steps, then bring the quest into Garden of Salvation itself.
- Solve the laser/symbol puzzle rooms. The raid hides a sequence of "shapes and glyphs" puzzle rooms. You must solve every laser puzzle and clear the required encounters in a single raid run — you can't split it across sessions.
- Claim the final chest. After the Consecrated Mind section, the last Divinity chest sits in a secret area that opens once the puzzles are done. Loot it to complete the quest and receive Divinity.
You don't need Divinity to run Garden of Salvation, but grabbing it is the single biggest reason to keep coming back — a weaken-on-demand trace rifle makes every future raid and dungeon boss easier.
Should you get carried through Garden of Salvation?
Garden of Salvation is a communication-heavy raid — tether chains, buff rotations, colored-energy callouts, and a Divinity puzzle that must be done in one run. For solo players, LFG groups that keep falling apart, or anyone chasing the Divinity exotic and red-border patterns without a reliable six-stack, a fireteam-assisted run is the fastest, cleanest way to the loot.

FAQ
Is Garden of Salvation matchmade? No. Like every Destiny 2 raid, Garden of Salvation has no matchmaking — you need to pre-form a fireteam of up to six players through LFG or the in-game Fireteam Finder.
Can you solo Garden of Salvation? Not as intended. The encounters require multiple players for tether chains, conflux defense, and mote banking, so there's no legitimate solo path through the full raid. A few sections have been beaten solo through glitches or extreme skill, but a normal solo clear isn't possible.
How long does Garden of Salvation take? There's no fixed time, but an experienced fireteam typically clears it in roughly 45–90 minutes. First-timers or groups also running the Divinity puzzle should budget longer, since the puzzle must be completed in the same run.
Do you need Divinity to run Garden of Salvation? No. Divinity is extremely helpful for boss DPS thanks to its weaken effect, but it isn't required for any encounter — plenty of teams clear the raid without it.
What's the best class for Garden of Salvation? No class is required; all three clear it comfortably. Assign roles by comfort — runners who hold Enlightenment, tether operators, and mote bankers — rather than worrying about class composition.
Is Garden of Salvation still available in 2026? Yes. It's a legacy raid that stays fully playable with Destiny 2 in maintenance mode, and since Episode: Revenant its full weapon set is craftable, making it one of the better sources of god-roll raid gear.
