Deep Stone Crypt is the raid that put Europa on the map — a six-year-old activity that still runs on the weekly rotator and still drops one of the best add-clear Exotics in the game. If you're here to clear it, farm the loot table, or finally land Eyes of Tomorrow, this guide walks every encounter, every reward, and the fastest path to the drops that matter.

Quick answer: what you need to know
Deep Stone Crypt (DSC) is a 6-player raid on Europa, added with the Beyond Light expansion on November 21, 2020. It has four encounters — Crypt Security, Atraks-1, The Descent (Rapture), and Taniks, the Abomination — built around three rotating buffs: Operator, Scanner, and Suppressor. Clearing it drops six craftable Legendary weapons plus the Legacy's Oath armor set, and the final boss has a ~5% (1 in 20) chance to drop the Exotic rocket launcher Eyes of Tomorrow. There is no power or Light requirement gate to enter, and every encounter is fully farmable via checkpoints. If you just want the clear or the Exotic without wiping for three hours, a Destiny 2 raid carry gets you there in one sitting.
Note (maintenance mode, 2026): Destiny 2 is in maintenance mode after Update 9.7.0 "Monument of Triumph" — no new seasons, but every raid, including Deep Stone Crypt, stays online and fully farmable. DSC is featured (with a bonus loot chest) roughly once a month on the Tuesday raid rotator, so time your Deepsight farming for a featured week.
Where is the Deep Stone Crypt raid and how do you start it?
Launch Deep Stone Crypt from the Europa destination in the Director. The opening section is a Sparrow ride and platforming gauntlet through a blizzard on the surface, with a frostbite stacking debuff — you take damage the longer you stand in the open storm, so keep moving toward the warm interior pockets. There is no boss here; it's a traversal warm-up that ends at the entrance to the Crypt itself.
Bring a fireteam of six. There is no minimum Power to enter — the enemies scale, but coordination matters far more than your gear score in DSC. The three augment buffs are the entire raid, so make sure everyone understands the roles before you pull the first encounter.
The three augment roles, explained
Every DSC encounter runs on the same three buffs, picked up from Augmentation Terminals and passed between players:
- Operator — shoots specific panels and terminals to open doors, disable security, and (in the final fight) release nuclear cores. Think of the Operator as the "unlock" role.
- Scanner — sees highlighted objects invisible to everyone else: the correct panels in Crypt Security, and the correct deposit stations for nuclear cores later. The Scanner calls out targets.
- Suppressor — deposits augments to disable overload security and, at Taniks, stuns the boss so cores can be banked.
A buff expires on a timer and must be swapped at a terminal before it runs out, or the holder gets locked out. Callouts like "Operator swap!" are the rhythm of the whole raid.
Deep Stone Crypt encounters: full walkthrough
Encounter 1 — Crypt Security (Light and Dark)
The room splits into two sides — a Light (white) side and a Dark (red) side — each with a giant security panel you're trying to disable. The Scanner sees which panels are "online"; the Operator shoots them to flip them. Coordinate so both sides lower their security bars at roughly the same time. When both hit zero, the central door opens and the fusion/security is disabled.
Miss the timing and the room fills with a wipe mechanic (the security "resets" and kills the team), so this is a communication check more than a damage check.
Challenge — Red Rover: on the challenge, players must swap the Operator augment down the line so every Guardian holds Operator at least once during the encounter.
Encounter 2 — Atraks-1, Fallen Exo
You fight Atraks-1 across two floors — a lower area and an upper space-station platform reached by teleporter pads. Atraks periodically applies a stacking "Atraks-1 Replication" debuff. Get too many stacks and you explode, wiping nearby teammates — so players carrying max stacks jump to the airlock and vent into space to clear them.
Damage is split: shoot the subjugator copies to expose Atraks's health, alternate DPS between floors, and keep the replication stacks managed. This is the encounter that punishes greed — banking one more shot with high stacks is how teams wipe.
Challenge — Copies of Copies: defeat all of the Atraks subjugator copies within a short window of each other so no copy is left standing too long.
Encounter 3 — The Descent (Rapture)
No boss — this is a vertical escort as the station falls. You alternate between shooting Operator panels to open airlocks and racing down through the collapsing structure while a room-clearing hazard chases you. The team splits into an upstairs/downstairs rotation, passing the Operator buff to keep the path open. Speed and clean augment swaps carry this one.
Challenge — Of All Trades: each player must deposit an augment / use every role during the descent — spread the buffs around rather than letting one person hold.
Encounter 4 — Taniks, the Abomination
The finale is the raid's signature fight, on an exterior platform in open space. Taniks orbits the arena while your team runs a nuclear-core relay:
- The Operator shoots panels to release nuclear cores.
- Players grab and carry cores to deposit stations.
- The Scanner identifies which of the four stations are "correct" this round.
- The Suppressor stands under the three floating security drones and shoots Taniks to stun him, which opens the deposit boxes.
- Deposit cores to charge the platform, then DPS Taniks in the damage phase.
Repeat the relay-then-damage loop until Taniks dies. Late in the fight the platform breaks apart and the arena shrinks, so burst him down efficiently once you have a rhythm.
Challenge — The Core Four: deposit all four nuclear cores at effectively the same time (within a couple of seconds) rather than one at a time. This is the challenge worth doing on farm weeks — it adds a bonus chest and boosts your Exotic odds.
Deep Stone Crypt full loot table
DSC drops six Legendary weapons — all craftable via Deepsight Resonance (red-border) drops. Collect five red-border copies of a weapon and craft the pattern at the Enclave on Savathûn's Throne World for guaranteed god rolls. Here's what drops where:
| Encounter | Weapons | Armor (Legacy's Oath) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Crypt Security | Trustee (Solar Scout Rifle), Succession (Sniper Rifle) | Arms, Legs, Class Item |
| 2 — Atraks-1 | Heritage (Slug Shotgun) | Arms, Legs, Helmet, Chest, Class Item |
| 3 — The Descent | Posterity (Hand Cannon) | Arms, Class Item |
| 4 — Taniks | Commemoration (Void Machine Gun), Bequest (Sword) | Helmet, Chest, Legs, Class Item |
| Final chest (Exotic) | Eyes of Tomorrow (Exotic Rocket Launcher) | — |
The six farmable Legendaries are Bequest, Commemoration, Heritage, Posterity, Succession, and Trustee. Because every one is craftable, DSC is one of the best raids to farm if you want reliable, enhanced-perk rolls — you're chasing red borders, not RNG god rolls.
Armor: the Legacy's Oath set
Each class earns the Legacy's Oath armor set — the sleek "Exo" aesthetic that made this raid a fashion favorite. Armor slots are tied to encounters: Arms and Legs drop from Encounters 1 and 2, Helmet and Chest from Encounters 2 and 3, and the Class Item from any encounter.

How to get Eyes of Tomorrow
Eyes of Tomorrow is the DSC raid Exotic — a heavy Rocket Launcher that drops only from the final chest after defeating Taniks, the Abomination. The base rate is roughly 5% (1 in 20) per clear, and it's per-account each week for the drop chance, though you can farm the final encounter's chest via checkpoint.
How to improve your odds:
- Complete raid challenges. Doing the weekly challenge (especially The Core Four at Taniks) adds an extra chest and improves your Exotic drop chance.
- Farm on a featured week. When Deep Stone Crypt is the featured raid on the rotator, you get a bonus loot chest — stack that with the challenge.
- Run final-encounter checkpoints. Grab a Taniks checkpoint and re-clear the boss repeatedly for more rolls at the chest.
Why chase it? Eyes of Tomorrow's Exotic perk Eyes on All — described in-game as a weapon that "tracks and fires at multiple targets simultaneously" (Bungie in-game description, via light.gg) — makes it a premier add-clear tool, and its second perk Adaptive Ordnance increases the damage of your next volley after you defeat four or more combatants in a single volley. That volley-into-volley snowball is why a six-year-old rocket launcher still shows up in modern add-clear loadouts.
If you've run Taniks a dozen times and still have nothing, you're not unlucky — you're average. Plenty of Guardians buy an Eyes of Tomorrow / dungeon & raid exotic carry to skip the coin-flip entirely.
Is Deep Stone Crypt worth farming in 2026?
Yes — and arguably more than ever. In maintenance mode there's no new-season treadmill pulling you elsewhere, so the "chase" is exactly this kind of evergreen loot: craftable raid weapons, a clean armor set, and a still-strong Exotic. DSC is also one of the more approachable raids mechanically (no punishing DPS checks like some later raids), which makes it a great first raid for newer fireteams or a fast weekly farm for veterans.
If you're gearing up, pair your raid runs with an Ascendant Shards farm and Enhancement Prisms farm to masterwork your new drops, and stockpile Spoils of Conquest to buy red borders directly from the raid chest. Cleared DSC and want the next challenge? Our Vault of Glass and King's Fall guides are the natural next steps.
Skip the wipes: Deep Stone Crypt carries
Six-player coordination is the hard part of DSC — one person who doesn't know the augment swaps can stall a run for an hour. If you want the clear, the craftable weapons, or the Eyes of Tomorrow chest without herding a fireteam of strangers:

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the Deep Stone Crypt raid take? A coordinated fireteam clears Deep Stone Crypt in about 35–50 minutes. A first-timer or LFG group learning the augment mechanics should budget 1.5–2 hours. It's one of the shorter, more forgiving raids in Destiny 2, which is why it's a common "first raid."
What is the Eyes of Tomorrow drop rate? Roughly 5% (1 in 20) per Taniks clear. Completing the weekly raid challenge and farming during a featured raid week both add bonus chests that improve your odds, so always do the challenge when you're chasing the Exotic.
Are Deep Stone Crypt weapons craftable? Yes — all six DSC Legendaries (Bequest, Commemoration, Heritage, Posterity, Succession, Trustee) are craftable. Collect five Deepsight (red-border) copies of a weapon and craft the pattern at the Enclave on Savathûn's Throne World for enhanced-perk god rolls.
Is Deep Stone Crypt farmable? Yes. Every encounter is farmable via checkpoints, and loot restrictions were removed years ago — you can earn drops from each encounter on repeat runs. During a featured raid week you get an extra chest per encounter, making it the ideal time to farm red borders and Exotic rolls.
Do I need Beyond Light to play Deep Stone Crypt? Deep Stone Crypt is on the Europa destination, which shipped with Beyond Light. In 2026 the raid remains accessible in the standard Destiny 2 experience — launch it from the Europa node in the Director. There is no Power/Light gate to enter.
Is there a Master version of Deep Stone Crypt? No. Deep Stone Crypt does not have a Master difficulty — it runs at its standard difficulty only. For higher-tier gear chases you'll want Master-capable raids or Pantheon; DSC is about the craftable loot table and Eyes of Tomorrow.
