Updated October 31, 2026 · win rates checked October 30–31 in Season 88 (Shocktober), after the October 6 and October 19 balance updates. Season 89 starts November 2, and Supercell says it won't introduce balance changes at the start of the November season, though it may adjust after the World Finals (November 6–8). These lists should hold into early November.
Quick answer: Our pick for the best Mega Knight deck for most players is Mega Knight, Witch, Valkyrie, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Baby Dragon, Skeleton Army, Skeleton Barrel and Arrows at 4.1 average Elixir. RoyaleTracker lists it at 53.4% over 822 battles, with no Evolution needed. If you own Evo Mega Knight, the top Evo list is Evo Mega Knight, Evo Lumberjack, Little Prince, Hog Rider, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Baby Dragon, Furnace and Zap at 54.4% over 907 battles. You need Arena 11 (Electro Valley, 3,400 trophies) to unlock Mega Knight. Be realistic about him: in Ranked he sits at 47.2%, D tier, so we'd treat him as a Trophy Road pick.
Mega Knight is one of the most complained-about cards in Clash Royale and one of the weaker win conditions in Ranked. Both are true. He punishes bad placement, and most games below the top of the ladder have plenty of it.
This guide covers the lists worth copying, whether Evo Mega Knight deserves your Evolution slot, how to place him, and what the Season 89 bug fixes change.
Is Mega Knight good in Clash Royale right now?
In Ranked he's below average. We don't have comparable Trophy Road data, but that's where we'd play him. RoyaleTracker's win condition tier list, updated October 30 and built on 12,062,650 Ranked battles from the last three weeks, reads like this:
| Card | Win rate | Usage | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lava Hound (best win condition) | 53.0% | 2.1% | S |
| Mega Knight | 47.2% | 2.1% | D |
| Evo Mega Knight (Evolution list) | 48.3% | 8.9% | C |
Evo Mega Knight is the second most-used Evolution in the game, behind Evo Witch at 10.0%, across more than 1 million battles. Popularity isn't the same as power, though. Tier letters on those two lists are graded against their own averages, so don't compare them directly.
That data only covers Ranked, and its three-week window includes games from before the October 19 update. It tells you nothing about Trophy Road at 6,000 trophies, where he depends far more on opponents overcommitting into him. One r/ClashRoyale player summed up the split this week: the card has been D tier for a while, and people still aren't going to stop using it.
His numbers at Level 11, from the Clash Royale wiki:
| Stat | Level 11 |
|---|---|
| Elixir / rarity | 7 / Legendary |
| Hitpoints | 3,993 |
| Spawn damage | 430 |
| Jump damage | 537 |
| Area damage per hit | 268 every 1.7s |
| Jump trigger | Ground units 3.5–5 tiles away |
The wiki says the regular Mega Knight "is not effective at taking out tanks" such as Giant or Golem. He earns his value from spawn and jump damage against support troops. Spawn damage alone (430) kills same-level Goblins (202 HP), Spear Goblins (133), Princess (261) and Dart Goblin (261). Wizard and Musketeer survive it and take two more regular hits.
What is the best Mega Knight deck right now?
These are six lists from RoyaleTracker's Mega Knight and Evo Mega Knight pages, checked October 31, 2026. RoyaleTracker doesn't publish a date window for those pages, so treat them as a snapshot of its tracked games.
| Evolution and Champion picks | Other cards | Avg Elixir | Win rate | Battles |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| None (regular Mega Knight) | Witch, Wizard, Goblin Gang, Royal Recruits, Flying Machine, Royal Hogs, Firecracker | 4.9 | 55.2% | 511 |
| Evo Mega Knight, Evo Lumberjack, Little Prince | Hog Rider, Baby Dragon, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Furnace, Zap | 4.0 | 54.4% | 907 |
| None (regular Mega Knight) | Witch, Valkyrie, Skeleton Army, Baby Dragon, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Skeleton Barrel, Arrows | 4.1 | 53.4% | 822 |
| Evo Furnace, Boss Bandit (regular Mega Knight) | Witch, Prince, Hog Rider, Dart Goblin, Berserker | 4.5 | 52.7% | 1.5K |
| Evo Wizard, Evo Valkyrie (regular Mega Knight) | Archers, Bomber, Musketeer, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Goblin Barrel | 4.0 | 51.6% | 2.4K |
| Evo Mega Knight, Evo Wall Breakers, Archer Queen | Prince, Goblin Gang, Bandit, Bats, Arrows | 3.8 | 47.7% | 1.4K |
Two patterns stand out. Of the 30 regular Mega Knight lists on that page, 9 finish above 50%. Of the 30 Evo Mega Knight lists, only 2 do. The last row is the most-played Evo Mega Knight list, and it loses more than it wins. The same eight cards with Evo Bats instead of Evo Wall Breakers post 49.6% over 920 battles, which makes it the better pick in this snapshot, though still below 50%.
The 55.2% list at the top looks tempting, but it costs 4.9 Elixir, runs no spell at all and has the smallest sample here. We'd skip it.
1. No-Evolution Mega Knight (our pick for most players)
| Role | Card | Elixir |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy defender | Mega Knight | 7 |
| Support | Witch | 5 |
| Mini-tank | Valkyrie | 4 |
| Tank killer | Mini P.E.K.K.A | 4 |
| Air and splash | Baby Dragon | 4 |
| Chip win condition | Skeleton Barrel | 3 |
| Swarm | Skeleton Army | 3 |
| Spell | Arrows | 3 |
Average Elixir: 4.1 · RoyaleTracker: 53.4% over 822 battles.
Every card here is available by Arena 11. Mega Knight is the last one you'll unlock, at Electro Valley. Skeleton Barrel arrives at Arena 9, and Witch, Baby Dragon and Skeleton Army at Arena 6.
Skeleton Barrel is your cheap tower threat, and its death damage rose from 145 to 163 in the October 19 update. Arrows clears Minions, Goblins and Spear Goblins. If you own Evolutions, adding them to this list is reasonable, but those variants aren't the ones measured here.
2. Evo Mega Knight Hog (best Evo list)
The Evo list opened this guide: Evo Mega Knight, Evo Lumberjack, Little Prince, Hog Rider, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Baby Dragon, Furnace and Zap. Average Elixir: 4.0 · RoyaleTracker: 54.4% over 907 battles.
Hog Rider gives you constant pressure, so you aren't waiting for 7 Elixir to do anything. Zap resets Inferno Tower and Inferno Dragon, the cards that melt Mega Knight fastest. Evo Lumberjack's ghost keeps fighting inside his Rage after he dies, per the wiki.
This one is late-game. Lumberjack needs Arena 14 and Little Prince needs Arena 18 (Silent Sanctuary). Keep an eye on Little Prince: RoyaleTracker's card tier list has him at 50.2% over three weeks, but its weekly movers box shows him falling from 50.5% to 46.9%.
3. Evo Furnace Prince (biggest sample above 52%)
Evo Furnace, Mega Knight, Witch, Prince, Boss Bandit, Hog Rider, Dart Goblin and Berserker. Average Elixir: 4.5 · RoyaleTracker: 52.7% over 1.5K battles.
This is the aggressive option: Prince, Hog Rider and Boss Bandit all force an answer. It's also expensive, and Boss Bandit needs Arena 17. Dart Goblin lost damage on October 19 (151 to 143), so expect him to clear a little less than older guides claim. Boss Bandit is the one Champion whose ability still works repeatedly. Every other Hero and Champion ability has been single-use per deployment since August 4.
Should you use Evo Mega Knight or the regular version?
Use the Evo if you already own it and your deck leans on defense. Don't chase it for ladder wins alone. It costs 6 Evolution Shards and just 1 cycle, per the wiki, so it comes up often.
Evo Mega Knight has the same base stats as the regular card. The difference is an uppercut that launches his target toward the nearest enemy Crown Tower. It's the only Mega Knight line Supercell has touched in its 2026 balance notes, and it's moved twice:
- June 1: heavy troop knockback 4 → 2.5 tiles. Supercell's reason: "Evolved Mega Knight is too oppressive when defending most win conditions, giving them no chance to break through." (June balance changes)
- August 4: uppercut changed from every attack to every other attack, and heavy troop knockback went back up, 2.5 → 4 tiles. (August balance changes)
Regular Mega Knight isn't named in any 2026 balance post we read, January through October. Neither version changed on October 6 or October 19.
The uppercut only pushes the troop he's targeting, so the wiki notes that ground swarms such as Barbarians or Royal Recruits can still surround him. If your local ladder is full of Evo Mega Knight, plan for that.
There's also no Hero Mega Knight, so your Hero slot goes to something else. Since March 2026 a fully unlocked deck gets one Evolution, one Hero and one Wild slot, and the Wild slot opens at Arena 10.
How do you play a Mega Knight deck?
Treat him as a counter-push card, not a bridge drop. A player in that same r/ClashRoyale thread pointed out that most users just put him on the bridge for no reason, which hands the opponent a cheap Knight or Valkyrie trade.
- Defend first. Drop him on top of the enemy's support troops so the 430 spawn damage lands on several units. That's where you win Elixir.
- Use the jump. Ground units 3.5 to 5 tiles away trigger a jump that charges for 0.9 seconds and hits for 537 damage. Place him with their back-line in that range, not next to it.
- Build behind him after the defense. Once he survives, add Witch, Baby Dragon or Valkyrie, and you've got a push your opponent has to answer with a damaged hand.
- Keep your cheap cards for his counters. Hold Zap or another stun for Inferno. The no-Evolution list has no stun, so send a cheap unit ahead of him to draw the first lock instead. Hold Mini P.E.K.K.A for tanks, because Mega Knight won't kill those for you.
- Don't start with him at low Elixir. At 7 Elixir, an early drop leaves you with almost nothing for the other lane. Open with your cheap win condition.
What beats Mega Knight decks in Season 89?
The same answers as always, plus two small new ones. The Season 89 notes list these bug fixes:
- "Mega Knight is no longer immune to Evolved Hunter's net while jumping"
- "Evolved Mega Knight is no longer immune to Tornado while attacking"
Those are bug fixes, not balance changes, but they close two gaps. If you run Evo Hunter or Tornado, you get more windows against him with the Season 89 update.
For cheaper defense, Inferno Tower, Mini P.E.K.K.A and swarms placed around his landing spot still work. One r/ClashRoyale player fighting him at about 9,000 trophies got a useful tip: Skeletons plus Ice Spirit can fully stop him for a +5 Elixir trade, but the timing is strict and takes practice. Our Mega Knight counter guide covers each answer in detail.
Season 89 won't push Mega Knight directly. The official King of Cards weeks (November 9 to December 7) don't list him as a boosted card. They do boost Hog Rider in week 2 and Skeleton Barrel in week 4, which suits both main lists. Evo Mirror arrives in the Shop from week 2 as well. Regular Mirror costs the copied card plus 1, so copying a Mega Knight takes 8 Elixir, or 15 for the pair. If Evo Mirror keeps that cost rule, it's a fun highlight clip, not a plan.
FAQ
What is the best Mega Knight deck in Clash Royale? Our pick for most players is Mega Knight, Witch, Valkyrie, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Baby Dragon, Skeleton Army, Skeleton Barrel and Arrows at 4.1 average Elixir. RoyaleTracker shows 53.4% over 822 battles, checked October 31, 2026, and it doesn't need an Evolution.
What arena do you unlock Mega Knight in? Arena 11, Electro Valley, at 3,400 trophies. He's a 7-Elixir Legendary. Evo Mega Knight needs 6 Evolution Shards on top of that.
Is Mega Knight good in Ranked? Not right now. RoyaleTracker has him at 47.2% in Ranked and D tier among win conditions, and Evo Mega Knight at 48.3%. He's popular anyway: the Evo version appears in 8.9% of those Ranked decks.
Is Evo Mega Knight worth it? Yes if you already own the shards and play defensively, since it needs just 1 cycle. It's not a fast track to wins. Only 2 of the 30 Evo Mega Knight lists on RoyaleTracker finish above 50%.
Did Mega Knight get nerfed in October 2026? No. Neither the October 6 nor the October 19 balance update changed him. The Season 89 notes do fix two bugs: Mega Knight loses his immunity to Evolved Hunter's net while jumping, and Evolved Mega Knight loses his immunity to Tornado while attacking.
What should you pair with Mega Knight? Pair him with a cheap win condition such as Hog Rider or Skeleton Barrel, a tank killer such as Mini P.E.K.K.A, and Zap or another stun for Inferno Tower. He handles support troops, not tanks.
