When does Mobile Legends Season 42 end?
The short version: mid-December 2026, most likely the 15–16 December changeover. Here is what that rests on, from strongest to weakest.
1. The in-game countdown. The Ranked screen shows a days-remaining timer in its top-left corner. That timer is the only live clock Moonton gives players, and it rounds to whole days. mlbbhub's season schedule says it checks its date against that countdown and lists the end as 16 December 2026.
2. Moonton's own pattern from the last rollover. The Patch 2.2.16 notes, the official release notes for Season 42, put the last changeover in writing: "S41 will end at 21:59:59 on 09/15 (Server Time). S42 will start from 00:00:00 on 09/16 (Server Time)." (Liquipedia, Patch 2.2.16). So the old season closes late on one date and the new one opens at midnight on the next. Ranked is shut for the gap between them.
3. Season length. Season 41 ran 17 June → 16 September 2026 — 91 days. Season 42 began on 16 September, and 91 days from that lands on 16 December. ggseason's tracker reaches the same estimate and labels it "EST.": "Moonton has not published an advance official end-date announcement."
Why do some sites say 15 December and others 16 December? Both are describing the same changeover. If Moonton repeats the Season 41 wording, Season 42 closes at 21:59:59 on 12/15 and Season 43 opens at 00:00:00 on 12/16, both in Server Time. esports.gg reports the end as 15 December; mlbbhub and ggseason list 16 December. One is quoting the close and the other is quoting the open.
What about the exact hour in my time zone? Moonton states season times in Server Time and does not publish a UTC conversion in the patch notes. Trackers convert the changeover to around 08:00 UTC (16:00 PHT / 15:00 WIB), which also matches MLBB's daily reset. Treat that hour as approximate. The countdown on your own Ranked screen is the real clock.
What we will not do is print a confirmed date before Moonton does. The confirmed time normally arrives in the patch notes that ship with the new season, and we update this page when it does.
When does Season 43 start, and what is in it?
Season 43 should open on 16 December 2026, right after the Season 42 close and a maintenance window. That is a projection based on the same three signals above, not an announcement.
Nothing about Season 43's content is confirmed for the live game yet. Here is the honest state of play as of 26 October 2026:
- The live game is on Patch 2.2.16a, released 14 October 2026. It changed heroes only: Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela were nerfed and Kalea was buffed. Our MLBB patch notes breakdown has the full lines.
- The Advance Server is testing Patch 2.2.26, which includes a Natalia revamp. Advance Server changes often ship late, ship changed or never ship, so treat anything from it as test-server content only.
- Dori, the new Mage, is still Advance-Server only. She has been on the test server since Patch 2.2.14 (27 August 2026). The community expects her around Season 43, but Moonton has given no Original Server date. Our Dori breakdown covers her kit.
Season 42's seasonal skin and avatar border were listed in its launch patch notes, so expect Season 43's to be confirmed the same way.
What happens when the rank resets?
Three things happen at the changeover:
- Your rank drops by a set amount. It is a partial reset. Everyone from Master up starts the new season lower than they finished, and Warrior and Elite keep their tier at 0 stars because there is nowhere lower to go.
- Your Mythic stars are wiped. Above Legend, stars are your rank: Mythic, Mythical Honor, Mythical Glory and Mythical Immortal sit on one continuous star counter with no divisions. The reset clears that counter. Our Mythic points explainer covers how stars work.
- Season rewards pay out and the reward track resets. Anything tied to Season 42 is settled at the changeover, and the counter starts again for Season 43.
The ladder you are dropping down has 29 nodes, and the divisions are not uniform. Warrior and Elite have three divisions, Master has four (IV–I), Grandmaster, Epic and Legend have five each, and the four Mythic tiers have none. Players disagree with this chart, especially at the top. In one r/MobileLegendsGame reset thread, one player wrote "even mythical immortal goes down to epic 1," and another replied "I fall back to legend 5." In a different thread from December 2025, a player said they "Made it to Mythic 40 stars previous season. Got dropped to Epic II after reset." The chart above would have put them in Epic 1.
There are two likely reasons. Moonton has changed the exact drop between seasons before, and players don't always remember their final rank correctly. Either way, the safe rule is the same: the chart shows you roughly where you will land, and the in-game season notice is the authority. These points hold either way:
- Mythical Glory and Mythical Immortal land in the same place. Once you pass 50 stars, more stars improve your rewards but not where you restart.
- Reaching Mythic is the biggest jump at the end of a season. Legend 1 drops to Epic 3, while even a 1-star Mythic drops to Epic 2. If you are sitting at Legend 1, that push is worth making.
- Crossing 25 stars is worth one more Epic division (Mythical Honor → Epic 1 instead of Epic 2).
What are the Season 42 rewards, and how do you claim them?
From the official Patch 2.2.16 notes: "Complete Ranked matches to claim rewards, including S42 Seasonal Skin: Popol and Kupa 'Flamehide Thane' and S42 Avatar Border 'Starward Decade'."
Three practical rules, all from community trackers. Check them against your own Ranked → Rewards screen:
- The seasonal skin needs a minimum number of ranked matches. Trackers report it as 20. Matches you play after the reset count toward Season 43, not Season 42, so finish them before mid-December.
- End-of-season rewards are based on your highest rank this season, not where you sit on the final day. A late push to a new tier still pays even if you drop back afterwards.
- Rank-promotion rewards on the Road to Mythic track (pictured above, from an earlier season) are claimed as you climb. Don't leave a finished node unclaimed going into the reset.
What else expires before Season 42 ends?
The ranked season is the last deadline. Several anniversary events end well before it:

How should you play the last weeks of Season 42?
The plan for the final stretch:
- Finish your 20 ranked matches early so the Flamehide Thane skin is locked in.
- If you are at Legend 1 or Mythic 20+ stars, push across the line. Reaching Mythic or 25 stars is the step that changes your reset placement.
- Get to your target rank a week early. The final days are full of last-minute pushes, and match quality is all over the place.
- Play your best heroes, not experiments. Patch 2.2.16a nerfed Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela, so read the current state before you lock in. Our Season 42 tier list is a good place to start.
The first two weeks of Season 43 will be messy. Former Mythical Glory and Immortal players restart in Legend 5, right next to Legend and Epic regulars. Players notice this every season. One reply in an after-reset thread was blunt: "You need to team up with someone in order to get out of epic rank faster." A strong duo climbs fastest in those first two weeks.
