Quick answer (28 October 2026, Patch 2.2.16a, Season 42 "Starward Decade"): the best Kadita build for the mid lane is Arcane Boots, Lightning Truncheon, Genius Wand, Holy Crystal, Divine Glaive and Blood Wings (12,040 gold, mlbbhub's default ranked build). Run the Mage emblem with Inspire, Bargain Hunter and Lethal Ignition, take Petrify, and land her combo in this order: Skill 1 to dive, Skill 2 while you're still inside the wave, Petrify, then the ultimate. Season 42 changed her too. Patch 2.2.16 (16 September 2026) gave Kadita new art, cut her base Movement Speed from 250 to 240, and added +10% Movement Speed in the River to her passive (Liquipedia, Patch 2.2.16).
Kadita is a burst mage who plays like an assassin. Her whole kit is built around one combo. She rides a wave onto a target, erupts the sea under them, and finishes with an ultimate that makes her untargetable. Today a player on r/MobileLegendsGame asked for help with exactly that: "I'm so bad at aiming her first skill and i also forget to press petrify like so many times. Any tips on how to be better at playing her? Also what build and emblems should i use" (r/MobileLegendsGame). This guide answers all three: the combo, the build and the emblem. It also covers what Season 42 changed and who counters her.
What changed for Kadita in Season 42?
Two things, and most Kadita guides still show neither.
1. A new look. Kadita was one of eight heroes in Moonton's 10th Anniversary art overhaul. The Patch 2.2.16 notes list "Masha, Bruno, Paquito, Kadita, Clint, Luo Yi, Brody, and Badang." Only Masha and Bruno had their skills reworked. Kadita kept her kit but got a new model, splash art and skill icons. If a guide still shows her old portrait, it was written before 16 September 2026.
2. A movement speed trade. Moonton's note on her change, verbatim (Liquipedia, Patch 2.2.16):
"Increased Kadita's Movement Speed when roaming to the side lane in the early-to-mid game."
| Change in Patch 2.2.16 | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Base Movement Speed | 250 | 240 |
| Passive (Thalassophobia) | no River bonus | +10% Movement Speed while in the River |
So she's slower on land and faster in the River. The River runs between the lanes, so in practice she gets to the side lanes faster from mid. The live hotfix 2.2.16a (14 October 2026) didn't touch her (mlbbhub, Patch 2.2.16a). Plan your rotations through the River, not through your jungle. The jungle path is now the slow one.
How do Kadita's skills work?
All numbers are from the in-game text as recorded on Liquipedia, checked 28 October 2026. Kadita is a Mage/Assassin, Mid Lane, Burst/Charge, with 2,440 base HP and a 500 mana pool.
| Skill | What it does | Key numbers |
|---|---|---|
| Passive: Thalassophobia | Every 30s she gains the Blessing of the Ocean. Taking damage from an enemy hero activates it for 4s. When it ends, she heals 65% of the HP she lost during it. Minion and creep damage doesn't trigger it. | +10% Movement Speed in the River |
| Skill 1: Ocean Ode | Rides a wave in a direction and back. Damages and slows (30%) enemies hit. Inside the wave she has Control Immunity and 50% Damage Reduction. Passes through walls. Use again to jump out early. | 250–450 (+90% Total Magic Power). Cooldown 9s to 6.5s |
| Skill 2: Breath of the Ocean | After a short delay, a wave erupts at the target spot and knocks enemies airborne for 1s. Cast it during Ocean Ode and the wave erupts under her with a shorter delay. | 350–500 (+140% Total Magic Power). Cooldown 8s |
| Ultimate: Rough Waves | Dives underground and sends waves out in all directions, then pulls them back. Underground she's untargetable with +60% Movement Speed. Only Suppression can interrupt it. | Out: 270/300/330 (+60%), slows 30%. Back: 180/200/220 (+40%). Cooldown 40/36/32s |
Two lines in that table decide how you play her. First, Skill 2 is slow when cast on its own and fast when cast from inside Skill 1. The short delay is what makes the knock-up land. Second, the ultimate can only be stopped by Suppression. That's why Franco, whose ultimate Bloody Hunt suppresses for 1.8s, is a real problem for her once she's committed. Multiple waves on one target also deal more damage, so it hits hardest point-blank.
What is the best Kadita build in Patch 2.2.16a?
Three builds cover nearly every draft. All three are mlbbhub's curated loadouts. mlbbhub last reviewed them on Patch 2.1.67 (13 May 2026), before Season 42. Her 2.2.16 change was movement only, so the items still hold. Item stats and costs below were re-checked against 2.2.16a on mlbbhub's item pages.
| Build | Items | Emblem and spell | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mid Pickoff (default) | Arcane Boots, Lightning Truncheon, Genius Wand, Holy Crystal, Divine Glaive, Blood Wings | Mage: Inspire, Bargain Hunter, Lethal Ignition. Petrify | 12,040 g |
| Snowball Execute | Arcane Boots, Sky Piercer, Genius Wand, Holy Crystal, Divine Glaive, Blood Wings | Assassin: Rupture, Master Assassin, Lethal Ignition. Petrify | 11,290 g |
| Safe Flicker Engage | Magic Boots, Lightning Truncheon, Genius Wand, Holy Crystal, Winter Crown, Divine Glaive | Mage: Inspire, Pull Yourself Together, Lethal Ignition. Flicker | 11,850 g |
Use the default build in most games. Here's what each item does for her:
- Arcane Boots (720 g): +15 Magic Power, +10 Magic Penetration, +40 Movement Speed. Penetration from the first minute makes your level-4 combo hurt.
- Lightning Truncheon (2,250 g): +75 Magic Power, +400 Mana, 10% cooldown reduction. Its passive, Resonate, makes your next skill echo every 6s for 255 (+85% Total Magic Power) extra damage to all enemies in range. Some guides still quote older Truncheon numbers, but these are the current ones.
- Genius Wand (2,000 g): +75 Magic Power, 10 Magic Penetration. Each magic hit on a hero cuts their Magic Defense by 2.5 (+0.5 per hero level) for 2s, stacking 3 times. Kadita's combo is three hits in a row, so it's at full stacks when the ultimate lands.
- Holy Crystal (3,000 g): +165 Magic Power and 21%–35% extra Magic Power depending on level. It's the most expensive item in the build and your biggest damage jump.
- Divine Glaive (1,970 g): +60 Magic Power and 40% Magic Penetration, plus up to 20% more against high Magic Defense targets. Buy it earlier if two enemies have Valkyrie's Shield (the item formerly called Athena's Shield) or Oracle.
- Blood Wings (2,100 g): +90 Magic Power and an 800 (+100% Total Magic Power) shield that comes back 20s after it's hit. You get +30 Movement Speed while it's up and +150 for 1s when it breaks. That's your way out after the combo.
Situational swaps (mlbbhub's own): Winter Crown over Blood Wings when the enemy can kill you right after Rough Waves ends. Its active freezes you, untargetable and immune to damage, for 2s on a 100s cooldown. Glowing Wand over Genius Wand against healers and shields, because its Lifebane cuts their shields and HP regen to 60% for 3s. Tough Boots over Arcane Boots against chain crowd control, since they cut CC and slow duration by 25%.
Snowball Execute swaps Lightning Truncheon for Sky Piercer (1,500 g). It executes heroes below 4% HP, and each kill adds stacks that raise that threshold, while each death loses 30% of them. Take it only when you're already ahead.
What players are building. The top reply on today's Reddit thread suggested: "Magic pen boots, genius wand, lightening truncheon, blood wings, winter crown and devine glave or holy crystal depending on enemy lineup" (r/MobileLegendsGame). That's close to mlbbhub's default, with Winter Crown in place of Holy Crystal. It's the safer version. It gives up damage to survive the dive, and it's a good choice if you're still learning the combo.
What is the best emblem for Kadita?
Mage emblem with Inspire, Bargain Hunter and Lethal Ignition is the default. The Mage emblem gives +30 Magic Power, +5% cooldown reduction and +8 Magic Penetration (mlbbhub, emblems). The talents, per Liquipedia:
- Inspire: +5% cooldown reduction and +2 Mana Regen. Her combo needs all three skills, so cooldowns matter more than raw damage over a full game.
- Bargain Hunter: items cost 95% of their base price. It saves 602 gold over the default build, which gets you to Holy Crystal sooner.
- Lethal Ignition: deal more than 7% of a hero's Max HP three times within 5s and you scorch them for 162–750 Adaptive Damage (scales with level), on a 15s cooldown. Skill 1, Skill 2 and the ultimate are three hits, so the combo triggers it almost every time.
The Assassin emblem (+14 Adaptive Penetration, +10 Adaptive Attack, +3% Movement Speed) with Rupture (+5 Adaptive Penetration) and Master Assassin (+7% damage when only one enemy hero is nearby) goes with the Snowball Execute build. It hits harder when you catch someone alone, but you lose the cooldown reduction.
Petrify or Flicker?
Petrify is the ranked default. It deals 100 (+15 per hero level) Magic Damage to nearby enemies, petrifies them for 0.8s, then slows them 50% for 0.8s, on a 75s cooldown (Liquipedia, Petrify). It holds the target in place while Breath of the Ocean erupts, so it's the most forgiving pick.
Flicker (120s cooldown) is the harder option. Cast Breath of the Ocean, then Flicker onto the target during the delay. The eruption still lands where you aimed it, and you've closed the gap from outside their range. Flicker also gets you out after the ultimate. Take it with the Safe Flicker Engage build.
What is Kadita's best combo?
This is the part the Reddit poster was stuck on. The standard combo:
- Skill 1 (Ocean Ode) onto the target. You can't be crowd-controlled inside the wave and you take 50% less damage.
- Skill 2 (Breath of the Ocean) while still in the wave. It erupts under you with the short delay and knocks everyone nearby up for 1s.
- Petrify as they land. That gives you another 0.8s plus the slow.
- Ultimate (Rough Waves) point-blank, so as many waves as possible hit the same target.
- Tap Skill 1 again to leave the wave early if the return trip would carry you back into danger.
One reply on the thread put the input order as "2+1+Petrify+3 ( Basic combo), 1+Petrify+ 3+ 2 ( Suprise combo)" and added practical advice: "You need to practice in hero training till you feel you can do it. Put the bot in God mode and you in no cd mode." That's the fastest way to build the muscle memory, and it fixes the forgotten-Petrify problem too.
The in-game teamfight tip, mirrored on mlbbhub: "In teamfights, target the enemy's backline with Kadita's 1st Skill, and use her 2nd Skill when passing through enemies to knock them airborne. Follow up with her Ultimate for massive damage and avoid all incoming damage while being untargetable."
Aiming Skill 1 is the other thing the poster struggled with. Ocean Ode is a dash, not a projectile. You don't need to hit the target with it, you need to end up on top of them. Aim slightly past them, and use bushes and walls (the wave passes through terrain) so they don't see it coming. Another reply was blunter: "Just sit in the bush bro." It's not wrong.
How do you play Kadita in the mid lane?
- Levels 1–3: farm, don't fight. Before level 4 you have no ultimate and little damage. Use Ocean Ode to clear and dodge, not to dive.
- Level 4: look for the first kill. With Rough Waves up, the full combo can kill a squishy mid laner who has used their escape.
- Rotate through the River. Since Patch 2.2.16 you're 10% faster there and slower everywhere else. It's the route Moonton tuned her for.
- Wait for your engage. She's much better following up a tank's stun than starting the fight herself. mlbbhub lists Franco, Atlas, Khufra, Tigreal, Jawhead and Chou as good roamers to pair with her.
- Hold the ultimate for the kill. Opening with Rough Waves leaves you with no finisher. Use it after the knock-up, not before.
- Watch your passive. The 65% heal only works while the Blessing is active, and it comes back every 30s. Take your trades when it's up.
Kadita's numbers get better the higher you go. On mlbbhub (refreshed 28 October 2026), her win rate rises from 49.54% in Epic to 52.47% in Mythical Glory+, and her pick rate doubles from 0.47% to 0.99%. She's banned most in Legend and Mythic (4.14%). Her combo rewards practice, and better players get more out of her.
Who counters Kadita, and who does she counter?
These are mlbbhub's ranked matchup deltas in percentage points of win rate, checked 28 October 2026. They show a draft edge, not a guaranteed win.
| Beats Kadita | Edge | Kadita beats | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marcel | +3.1 | Lolita | +5.2 |
| Alice | +1.8 | Ixia | +2.6 |
| Wanwan | +1.7 | Johnson | +2.3 |
| Miya | +1.6 | Atlas | +1.7 |
| Balmond | +1.5 | Silvanna | +1.7 |
Heroes who survive her burst or sustain through it beat her. Alice and Balmond outlast the combo, and once her ultimate is down she can't finish the fight. Heroes who can't get out of the eruption lose to her, because the knock-up and every wave land. Lolita and Ixia are the clearest examples in the data.
Two other threats come from her kit, not the data. Suppression is the only thing that stops Rough Waves, so a Franco who's saving Bloody Hunt for you can cancel the combo halfway. And assassins who wait out her ultimate, like Lancelot or Natalia, can catch her once the ultimate and Ocean Ode are both on cooldown. If the enemy draft has two of those threats, pick a different mid laner. mlbbhub found no clear early, mid or late-game drop-off for her, so she doesn't need to win early the way some burst mages do.
Lore note: Kadita's listed companion is Kalea (Liquipedia). Our Kalea build guide covers her if you want to play the pair.
Is Kadita good in Season 42?
Yes. She's a strong pick that needs the right draft. Tier A, 51.57% win rate, 0.78% pick rate and 3.22% ban rate across all ranks on mlbbhub (Patch 2.2.16a, checked 28 October 2026). She's banned about four times as often as she's picked, which tells you players respect her more than they play her. For comparison, mlbbhub's top mid laners today are Valir (S, 54.4%), Yve (A, 52.6%) and Kagura (A, 51.8%). See our best mid lane heroes for Season 42 for the full list, or the Season 42 tier list for the whole roster.

FAQ
What is the best build for Kadita in Mobile Legends? For mid lane on Patch 2.2.16a: Arcane Boots, Lightning Truncheon, Genius Wand, Holy Crystal, Divine Glaive and Blood Wings (12,040 gold), with the Mage emblem (Inspire, Bargain Hunter, Lethal Ignition) and Petrify. Swap Blood Wings for Winter Crown if the enemy can kill you right after your ultimate.
What is Kadita's combo? Skill 1 onto the target, Skill 2 while you're still inside the wave so it erupts under you with a short delay, Petrify as they land, then the ultimate point-blank. Tap Skill 1 again to leave the wave early if the return trip is dangerous.
Was Kadita changed in Season 42? Yes. Patch 2.2.16 (16 September 2026) gave her new art, lowered base Movement Speed from 250 to 240, and gave her passive +10% Movement Speed in the River. Hotfix 2.2.16a didn't change her.
What emblem should Kadita use? The Mage emblem with Inspire, Bargain Hunter and Lethal Ignition. Lethal Ignition fits because her combo hits the same target three times in a row. Use the Assassin emblem with Rupture and Master Assassin only in the snowball build.
Can Kadita's ultimate be interrupted? Only by Suppression, according to the in-game skill text. That's why Franco, whose ultimate suppresses, is dangerous for her. While she's underground she's untargetable and gains 60% Movement Speed.
Who counters Kadita? On mlbbhub's ranked data: Marcel, Alice, Wanwan, Miya and Balmond. Heroes with Suppression, and assassins who wait out her ultimate, are also a problem. She does well against Lolita, Ixia, Johnson, Atlas and Silvanna.
