Quick answer: The next Once Human server maintenance starts Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM PT (7:00 PM ET, 11:00 PM UTC, 00:00 BST / 01:00 CEST on October 22). It's the update that launches Isles of Abyss, so every platform goes offline at once: PC, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X/S, iOS and Android. Once Human maintenance almost always starts at 4:00 PM PT and is announced at about 2–3 hours. The studio itself warns that "the actual server opening time may differ," and players have seen windows overrun. If you see "Server under maintenance, please wait" at login, nothing is wrong with your console or PC. The servers are offline, and you can't get in early.
This page is the timesaver.gg reference for Once Human server status and maintenance. It covers the exact start time in your timezone, how long the downtime usually runs, how to tell maintenance apart from a real outage on PS5 and Xbox, and what to do the moment servers come back. Every time and duration below comes from the studio's own update announcements on oncehuman.game, checked on October 20, 2026. We refresh this page with every major update.
When is the next Once Human maintenance?
The next scheduled maintenance is October 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM (PT). The studio confirmed the date and time at the end of the Version 3.0.7 announcement:
"The next update will be on October 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM (PT). The all-new ocean survival scenario [Isles of Abyss] is about to officially launch." (Once Human, Version 3.0.7 Update Announcement)
The Isles of Abyss dev blog published on October 16 says the scenario's release time is "After the maintenance update on October 21, 2026 (PT)." So the maintenance window is the launch countdown. Isles of Abyss goes live when the servers come back up, not at a fixed minute.
Here's the start time in your region. Europe is still on summer time until October 25, so these are the correct offsets for launch night:
| Region | Maintenance starts |
|---|---|
| US Pacific (PT) | Wed Oct 21, 4:00 PM |
| US Eastern (ET) | Wed Oct 21, 7:00 PM |
| UTC | Wed Oct 21, 11:00 PM |
| UK (BST) | Thu Oct 22, 12:00 AM |
| Central Europe (CEST) | Thu Oct 22, 1:00 AM |
| Moscow (MSK) | Thu Oct 22, 2:00 AM |
| Singapore / Philippines | Thu Oct 22, 7:00 AM |
| Japan / Korea | Thu Oct 22, 8:00 AM |
| Sydney (AEDT) | Thu Oct 22, 10:00 AM |
That's why players in Europe and Asia call this "the October 22 launch." Both dates are correct. If you want the minute-by-minute countdown for Isles of Abyss itself, our Isles of Abyss release time and countdown page has it.
What the studio hasn't published yet: the expected length of the October 21 window and the download size. The full announcement normally goes up on oncehuman.game and the official channels around maintenance day. We'll add both numbers here as soon as it does.
How long does Once Human maintenance last?
Usually announced at 2 hours, sometimes 3, and the studio never guarantees the end time. Every major 2026 update announcement uses the same template: a 4:00 PM PT start, an estimated length, and a disclaimer that the actual time may differ. Here's the record straight from the official announcements:
| Update | Date (PT) | Day | Start | Announced length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2.3.8 | May 13, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 2.4.1 | May 27, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 2.4.2 | June 10, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 2.4.3 | June 24, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 3.0.1 | July 9, 2026 | Thursday | 4:00 PM | about 3 hours |
| 3.0.2 | July 22, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 3.0.3 | August 5, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 3.0.4 | August 24, 2026 | Monday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 3.0.5 | September 2, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| 3.0.6 | September 16, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | about 3 hours |
| 3.0.7 | September 28, 2026 | Monday | 4:00 PM | about 2 hours |
| Isles of Abyss | October 21, 2026 | Wednesday | 4:00 PM | not yet announced |
Three patterns stand out:
- 4:00 PM PT is fixed. All 11 updates in the table were scheduled for exactly that time. If your game drops you at 4 PM Pacific on an update day, that's maintenance.
- The estimate doesn't scale neatly with update size. Only 3.0.1 and 3.0.6 (the Beastmaster rework) were announced at 3 hours. The 3.0.4 console-launch update and the 2.4.1 Season 4 launch were both announced at 2. Isles of Abyss is billed as the game's biggest update yet, so our advice is to plan for at least 3 hours whatever the announcement says.
- Most updates land on a Wednesday, roughly every two weeks. Eight of the eleven were Wednesdays. The exceptions were Thursday 3.0.1, Monday 3.0.4 (the day before the console launch) and Monday 3.0.7.
The disclaimer matters, because windows do run long. The worst 2026 case is the 2.4.1 Season 4 launch on May 27. It was announced at about 2 hours, then extended twice. The studio's second notice read:
"We anticipate an additional delay of approximately 3 hours before the server goes live, estimated opening time: May 27, 2026, 23:00 (PT Time)." (Once Human, "Server Opening Time Delayed Again")
That's 7 hours from a 4:00 PM start, and the studio promised server-wide compensation afterwards. Players remember it too: a June 2026 r/OnceHumanOfficial thread was titled "Server maintenance 2 hours past estimated time frame….. again." For a launch-sized update like Isles of Abyss, budget the whole evening (PT) or the whole night (Europe), and treat an on-time return as a bonus.
Are Once Human servers down right now? How to check
There's no official live status page for Once Human. Instead, check these, in this order:
- oncehuman.game news, "Update" tab. Every scheduled maintenance gets a "Version X Update Announcement" with the start time and estimated length, and delays get their own notice (like May 27's "Server Opening Time Delayed Again"). If today's date is in a title, that's your answer.
- The official X account, @OnceHuman_. Watch it for extensions and early openings.
- The official Discord. It carries the same announcements, and the community reports the moment servers come back.
- r/OnceHumanOfficial. On maintenance day the newest posts are always "are servers down?" threads, which is a fast unofficial signal.
- Steam news for app 2139460. It mirrors the official announcements, which is handy if the website is slow under load.
Third-party outage trackers (outage maps, "is it down" sites) only count user reports. They can tell you that people can't log in, but not why. Always confirm with an official source before you start troubleshooting.
The quick self-test: if you can't log in, it's 4:00 PM PT or later on an update day, and there's an announcement on the official site, it's maintenance. Close the game and come back later. Nothing on your end will get you in early.
What does "Server under maintenance, please wait" mean?
It means exactly what it says: the game servers are offline for scheduled maintenance, and the client is blocking login until they're back. It's not a ban, not a corrupted install and not your internet. Players have reported this exact message at login since 2024. It sometimes shows up for a few minutes after the announced end time while the servers finish coming back up.
Other messages you may see during or right around maintenance:
- "Server Request Timeout." This often shows up in the first minutes after servers reopen, when everyone logs in at once. If it continues once maintenance is clearly over, follow our Server Request Timeout fix for PS5 and Xbox.
- A stuck "Retrieving character data (x/7)" ring. This means login is overloaded or a service is half-up. Our Retrieving character data fix covers what to try.
- Full servers or a queue on your chosen server. Expect this when a new scenario opens. See server full and queue fixes.
What not to do during maintenance: don't reinstall, don't "repair" files, and don't change your region or server to get around it. Maintenance is a single global window for every platform and region, so switching won't get you in early.
PS5 and Xbox: what's different on maintenance day?
Consoles go down in the same maintenance window as PC and mobile. That covers both the cross-platform servers and the console-exclusive servers tagged 【Console】. Three console-specific things are worth knowing:
1. The console download is bigger than you'd expect. For the September 28 update, the studio listed the PS5 launcher download at about 4.57 GB and Xbox at about 4.45 GB, versus 3.28 GB on the PC launcher. The October 21 size hasn't been published yet. The trick: leave the console in rest mode with automatic updates on, so the patch downloads as soon as it's released and you're not stuck on a progress bar when servers reopen.
2. Console logins can lag behind PC. After the September 16 maintenance, one player in the r/OnceHumanOfficial "Server Status" thread reported "Console servers are indeed not back" while others in the thread were already playing. If PC friends are playing and you can't log in, close the game completely, check for a pending update, then try again before assuming something is broken.
3. Check PSN and Xbox network status separately. If Once Human is officially up but you still can't sign in, the problem may be the platform. Check status.playstation.com or the Xbox status page before anything else.
What should you do before the October 21 maintenance?
Use the last hours before downtime well, especially if you're moving into Isles of Abyss:
- Finish anything time-gated. Claim battle pass tiers, event rewards and daily tasks before 4:00 PM PT, so you don't lose part of an evening to downtime.
- Decide your scenario plan now. The dev blog says new players sign up for Isles of Abyss from the scenario selection screen after character creation, and existing players "can also sign up through the scenario sign-up screen." New characters need to finish character creation and the new player experience first. Read our guide to how to join Isles of Abyss on PS5 and Xbox before servers reopen. Server-full screens are most likely in the first hour after a new scenario opens.
- Know the scenario's clock. Isles of Abyss is PvE, runs about 21 days across two phases, and has 12 worlds per server. Its permanent server is expected around November 12, 2026 (PT). A late start isn't a disaster.
- Read up on what you're sailing into. Our Isles of Abyss release date and what's new roundup and the Haywire Zones guide cover the new systems.
What happens after maintenance ends?
When servers return, the Isles of Abyss launch comes with a lot of free stuff. The official "Scenario Fest Oct 21 (PT)" graphic lists 10 rewards, including 10,000 Starchrom delivered by in-game mail (with more from events), a free exclusive Isles of Abyss weapon skin, a Free Meta Pass 30-Day Trial, and bonus DLC rewards for logging in on October 22. The graphic says players on Steam, Epic and console claim that DLC from the store page, and everyone else gets it in in-game mail.
Regular updates often come with maintenance compensation too. After the September 28 update, for example, every player got Starchrom ×1000, Mitsuko's Mark ×100, a Stardust Secret Crate and a Dog Selection Crate. The amounts change every time, so check the update announcement rather than expecting a fixed package.
Your first-hour checklist once you're back in:
- Open your mail and claim maintenance and launch rewards before you play.
- Claim store-page DLC on PS5, Xbox or Steam if the event lists any.
- Sign up for your scenario right away if you're joining Isles of Abyss. Servers fill fastest in the first hour.
- Expect follow-up fixes. After the September 28 update, the studio posted 3.0.7 bug-fix notes on September 29 and 30, then again on October 9 and 10. Expect the same rhythm after Isles of Abyss.
Does maintenance wipe your progress?
No. Maintenance only patches the game. It doesn't reset your character, base or inventory. Resets happen on the scenario clock, not the maintenance clock: a seasonal server ends after its final settlement phase, while permanent servers never wipe. If you're confused about which of your stuff carries over between scenarios, that's a separate system, and the maintenance downtime has nothing to do with it.
FAQ
Is Once Human down right now? If it's 4:00 PM PT or later on an update day (next: October 21, 2026) and oncehuman.game has a matching update announcement, yes, the servers are down for maintenance. Otherwise, check @OnceHuman_ on X and the official Discord for unscheduled downtime before you troubleshoot your own setup.
What time is Once Human maintenance on October 21, 2026? It starts at 4:00 PM PT on October 21. That's 7:00 PM ET, 11:00 PM UTC, midnight BST and 1:00 AM CEST on October 22, and 7:00 AM in Singapore.
How long will Once Human servers be down for maintenance? Official estimates in 2026 have been about 2 hours, or about 3 hours for some updates. The studio always adds that the actual time may differ, and the May 27 Season 4 update ran about 7 hours after two extensions. For the Isles of Abyss launch, plan for 3 hours or more.
Why does Once Human say "Server under maintenance, please wait"? The servers are offline for scheduled maintenance. It isn't an error on your PS5, Xbox or PC, and reinstalling won't help. Wait until the official channels say the servers are back, then restart the game.
Do PS5 and Xbox come back at the same time as PC? All platforms go down in the same global maintenance window. Some console players have reported getting back in later than PC players after past updates. If that happens, fully close the game and check for a pending update.
Will I get compensation for the maintenance? Often, yes. Rewards are listed in each update announcement and sent by in-game mail. The Isles of Abyss launch also includes 10,000 Starchrom by mail as part of the Scenario Fest rewards.
