Quick answer: On Update 44.1 (Hotfix 44.1.4.1, checked November 2, 2026), the S tier is Wisp, Saryn, Dante, Mesa, Octavia, Revenant, Wukong, Uriel and Nokko. This list ranks all 66 Warframes by what their kits do in current content, then checks each placement against Digital Extremes' own usage data. There is no single best frame, so every pick below is tied to a job.
Most Warframe tier lists are opinion stacked on opinion. This one adds a data point the others skip: DE publishes how long players keep each frame equipped, split by Mastery Rank. That doesn't measure power, and DE says so. It does show which frames people keep using once the novelty wears off.
Before you spend a Forma: tiers matter less than your mods, Arcanes and Helminth choices. A well-built B-tier frame clears anything a badly built S-tier frame can. For the weapons half of your loadout, see our Warframe weapons tier list.
How is this Warframe tier list ranked?
Three inputs decide each placement:
- Kit first. Ability behavior is checked against the official WARFRAME Wiki and DE's patch notes, including the Banshee, Grendel and Hydroid changes in Update 44.
- Community read. We compared three public Update 44 lists from October 2026, including Warframe.today and BlueStacks. Wisp, Saryn, Dante, Mesa and Octavia sit in the top row of all three. Wukong swings from S to B between them, which is exactly the kind of argument usage data can help with.
- DE usage data. We combined base and Prime versions from the 2025 usage JSON behind DE's Global Community Stats. The percentages in the tables are our calculation, and they cover 2025 only.
DE's caveat belongs up front:
"This data is meant to pique the interest of community members and does not serve as a tier list or any other statement on item viability."
— Digital Extremes, Global Community Stats
So usage works as a tiebreaker here, never as the ranking. The tiers are our editorial call. Warframe has no ranked ladder and DE publishes no performance data.
What does DE's usage data say about the best Warframes?
DE tracks equip time for frames at Rank 30 or higher, which removes first-time leveling. DE's top single Warframe of 2025 was Wukong Prime, at 11,712,123 hours. Combining base and Prime versions gives this picture:
| Rank | Warframe | 2025 share of equip time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Volt + Volt Prime | 6.24% |
| 2 | Wukong + Wukong Prime | 5.72% |
| 3 | Excalibur, Prime + Umbra | 5.51% |
| 4 | Gauss + Gauss Prime | 4.50% |
| 5 | Revenant + Revenant Prime | 3.88% |
| 6 | Wisp + Wisp Prime | 3.76% |
Four things stand out:
- Volt's lead is partly a starter effect. At MR5, the top three are Excalibur (16.1%, Umbra counted separately), Volt (15.2%) and Rhino (13.3%). Volt still holds 4.7% at MR30, so the habit lasts.
- Veterans love Nova. Using a simple average of Legendary Ranks 1–5, the top five are Wukong (4.95%), Nova (4.72%), Volt (4.56%), Titania (3.80%) and Revenant (3.63%). Nova nearly doubled overall, from 1.48% in 2024 to 2.86% in 2025.
- Valkyr is the biggest riser. She more than tripled, from 0.70% to 2.32%, though her kit still keeps her mid-table here.
- Octavia is the biggest gap. She sits in the top row of all three lists we checked, yet holds 1.57%. Our read: her strength shows in long endurance runs, not everyday missions.
Two limits apply. Follie, Sirius & Orion and Narin launched in 2026, so they have no data. Uriel (December 10, 2025) has about three weeks of data and Nokko (October 15, 2025) about eleven, so their low shares say little.
Which Warframes are S tier on Update 44.1?
These frames fit almost any squad or solo run. "Best for" names the job, because no frame wins every mission type.
| Warframe | Best for | Why it's here | 2025 use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wisp | Support, solo | Reservoirs give the squad Haste, Vitality and Shock Motes; Breach Surge handles crowds | 3.76% |
| Saryn | Endless nuking | Spores spread on kills and grow over time; Toxic Lash bursts them | 2.56% |
| Dante | Overguard support | Light Verse restores Health and grants Overguard to the squad | 2.38% |
| Mesa | Wave clear | Peacemaker shoots down rooms; Shatter Shield handles incoming bullets | 2.63% |
| Octavia | Endurance | Mallet damage grows with hits on it; Resonator pulls enemies in; Metronome adds buffs | 1.57% |
| Revenant | Solo survival | Mesmer Skin redirects damage and stuns attackers; Reave leeches shields and health | 3.88% |
| Wukong | All-rounder | Celestial Twin fights beside you; Defy stores damage and converts it into Armor | 5.72% |
| Uriel | Damage | Brimstone ramps with each hit; Remedium heals and resurrects his demons | 0.85%† |
| Nokko | Damage, Energy | Stinkbrain adds Viral and sleep; Brightbonnet gives Energy and Ability Strength | 0.61%† |
† Partial year: released late in 2025.
The two calls people will argue with are Wukong and Revenant. Both fall below S on some public lists. We keep them here because they are easy to build, hard to kill, and rank second and fifth in overall usage. Our best Warframes for Steel Path list goes deeper on survival picks.
Which frames make A tier?
A tier frames can carry endgame content but want a specific build or role.
| Warframe | Best for | Why it's here | 2025 use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protea | Support damage | Blaze Artillery scales per enemy hit; Dispensary makes health, ammo and Energy | 1.67% |
| Titania | Speed | Razorwing flight amplifies damage on targets her razorflies hit | 2.97% |
| Gauss | Speed, tanking | Kinetic Plating stops stagger and feeds Energy; Redline overdrives his fire rate and casting | 4.50% |
| Khora | Crowd control | Whipclaw scales with equipped mods; Strangledome locks down a room | 2.08% |
| Mirage | Single-target damage | Eclipse boosts weapon damage or cuts damage taken; Hall of Mirrors adds doppelgangers | 2.10% |
| Nova | Crowd scaling | Molecular Prime slows or speeds a whole radius of enemies | 2.86% |
| Volt | Speed | Speed buffs squad movement and reload; Discharge paralyzes nearby enemies | 6.24% |
| Kullervo | Melee | Recompense heals on hits and grants Overguard at max Health; Storm of Ukko clears | 1.60% |
| Xaku | Void damage | Xata's Whisper adds Void to every weapon; The Vast Untime weakens enemies to it | 2.52% |
| Nekros | Farming | Desecrate forces extra loot from corpses; Terrify scatters enemies | 2.30% |
| Harrow | Crit support | Covenant absorbs damage into Critical Chance; Thurible feeds the squad Energy | 0.72% |
| Rhino | New players | Iron Skin grants Overguard and blocks damage; Roar buffs squad damage | 2.98% |
| Cyte-09 | Weak points | Seek reveals enemies and boosts Weak Point damage; Neutralize ricochets between them | 0.78% |
| Citrine | Status | Prismatic Gem adds four elemental statuses; Crystallize paralyzes | 0.62% |
| Jade | Armor strip | Ophanim Eyes dissolves Shields and Armor and revives allies at range | 0.84% |
| Nidus | Stacking scaling | Virulence builds Mutation; Parasitic Link buffs a linked ally | 0.73% |
| Trinity | Healing | Blessing restores the squad and reduces damage; Energy Vampire supplies Energy | 0.70% |
| Narin | Melee, Overguard | Naraemagi turns Cold Status into Shields and Overguard; Nurinarim shatters defenses | New |
| Nezha | Survival | Warding Halo protects him and stuns close enemies | 0.99% |
| Gara | Damage reduction | Splinter Storm fortifies allies; Mass Vitrify walls off enemies | 0.99% |
Cyte-09 comes with a warning. Hotfix 44.1.3 stopped Elemental Ammo status from retriggering Acid Shells death explosions, so copied builds may no longer work. The frame's own abilities did not change. Narin is the least settled pick here, because she has only been live since September 23. Our guides cover how to get Narin and the full list of frame farms.
Which Warframes are B tier?
B tier frames are good at one job and need more investment to cover others.
| Warframe | Strongest job | 2025 use |
|---|---|---|
| Banshee | Weak Point damage support after the rework | 0.27% |
| Sirius & Orion | Duo damage and healing with Light's Sanctuary | New |
| Hildryn | Shield-based tanking with Haven and Pillage | 1.53% |
| Baruuk | Melee with Serene Storm, projectile dodging with Elude | 0.49% |
| Voruna | Status spreading with Fangs of Raksh | 0.71% |
| Garuda | Energy on demand with Bloodletting | 0.71% |
| Sevagoth | Melee burst with Exalted Shadow | 1.61% |
| Styanax | Squad Energy with Rally Point | 0.51% |
| Ember | Armor strip with Fire Blast | 1.09% |
| Lavos | Elemental combos with Catalyze | 1.03% |
| Oraxia | Damage Vulnerability with Webbed Embrace | 1.16% |
| Follie | Inkblot crowd control with Plein Air | New |
| Excalibur | Beginner melee with Exalted Blade | 5.51%‡ |
| Frost | Objective defense with Snow Globe | 1.39% |
| Ash | Stealth clones with Blade Storm | 0.94% |
| Valkyr | Melee with Hysteria, Armor buffs with Warcry | 2.32% |
| Inaros | Armor-based survival with Scarab Shell | 0.92% |
| Ivara | Stealth looting with Prowl | 0.92% |
| Limbo | Rift control with Cataclysm | 0.47% |
| Equinox | Shield support with Mend & Maim | 0.50% |
| Chroma | Armor and damage buffs with Vex Armor | 0.79% |
| Gyre | Electric crits with Rotorswell | 0.84% |
| Grendel | Armor strip with Regurgitate | 0.44% |
| Temple | Crit Vulnerability with Overdrive | 0.56% |
‡ Includes Excalibur Umbra (2.87%).
Banshee is the frame to retest. She was last in DE's 2025 data, and Update 44's notes open her rework by admitting it: "Banshee may not be at the top of your Loadout list." Now Sonic Boom strips 70% of Armor, Sonar's Weak Spots count as real Weak Points, and Sound Quake is a 25-second area instead of a channel. She has moved up on community lists, but she needs a loadout built around weak points. Here's how to get Banshee.
Which Warframes are C tier?
C tier frames work, but something else does their job with less effort right now. Plenty of players clear Steel Path on them, so treat this as a warning about investment, not a ban.
| Warframe | Strongest job | 2025 use |
|---|---|---|
| Atlas | Rumblers for ground-based brawling | 0.61% |
| Dagath | Viral damage with Doom | 0.36% |
| Mag | Shield and Armor removal with Polarize | 1.98% |
| Loki | Solo stealth with Invisibility | 0.88% |
| Qorvex | Status protection with Disometric Guard | 0.33% |
| Zephyr | Projectile defense with Turbulence | 0.93% |
| Hydroid | Armor gain with Plunder | 0.97% |
| Koumei | Random Status with Kumihimo | 0.99% |
| Nyx | Enemy confusion with Chaos | 1.49% |
| Oberon | Healing with Renewal | 0.85% |
| Vauban | Armor strip and lockdown with Bastille | 0.73% |
| Yareli | Mobility with Merulina | 1.36% |
| Caliban | Armor strip with Fusion Strike | 1.67% |
Mag shows how these placements work. Her Polarize removes Shields and Armor, yet her use drops from 12.7% averaged across MR1–5 to 1.1% across Legendary Ranks 1–5. Zephyr's Turbulence redirects only projectiles, so it does nothing against melee. Yareli's best survival is tied to riding Merulina.
Hydroid is improving. Update 44 swapped his Shield and Armor values, so Hydroid Prime now has 650 Armor and 290 Shields, which suits his Health-based survival. Grendel gained a slower gut decay and Regurgitate damage based on Max Health.
Which Warframe should you use for each job?
- Steel Path: Wisp, Dante, Revenant or Saryn. Full reasoning is in the Steel Path guide.
- Solo play: Revenant or Wukong, because both survive mistakes.
- Squad support: Wisp for buffs, Dante for Overguard, Trinity for healing.
- Endurance runs: Saryn, Octavia or Mesa.
- Resource farming: Nekros for Desecrate, Ivara for Prowl.
- Speed: Titania, Volt or Gauss.
- Your first farm: Rhino. Our best Warframes for beginners guide lists where to get him.
Frame choice also shifts once Helminth enters the picture, since a subsumed ability can fill a kit's biggest gap. Start with our best Helminth abilities to subsume list. For everything else, browse more Warframe guides.
FAQ
What is the best Warframe right now? There isn't one for every job. On Update 44.1, Wisp is the safest all-round pick, Revenant is the strongest solo survivor, and Saryn leads endless nuking. DE publishes no performance rankings, so any "best Warframe" claim is an opinion.
Are Prime Warframes better than the base version? They use the same abilities with better stats. Hydroid Prime has 650 Armor against Hydroid's 365, for example. The kit decides the tier, so a base frame is fine until you can get the Prime.
Which S-tier Prime can I get right now? Saryn Prime, through Prime Resurgence alongside Nidus Prime since October 29. Wisp, Mesa, Octavia, Revenant and Wukong Primes are vaulted, so you need relics you already own or a player-to-player trade inside the game. Dante, Uriel and Nokko have no Prime yet.
What is the easiest Prime Warframe to get? Whichever you already hold relics for, which was the top answer in a recent r/Warframe thread. An unvaulted Prime is the safe general choice, because its relics still drop from missions. Our next Prime guide tracks which one leaves next.
Is DE's usage data a tier list? No. DE says so directly, and usage rewards comfort and habit as much as strength. Volt's first place partly reflects his starter status. We use it only to break ties.
How often does this tier list change? Whenever a patch touches frames. The next big shift is Warframe: Tau, Update 45, due in December 2026 with Brysko as the 67th frame. We'll update this page in place when it lands.
