Medallion of Karabor

Medallion of Karabor - WoW TBC Anniversary

  • Per-Character Neck
  • Alt Akama Chain
  • 19-Quest Line

The Medallion of Karabor is a per-character item, not an account unlock. It is an epic neck piece with +3 Stamina and +3 Shadow Resistance, awarded by the quest A Distraction for Akama at the end of the Black Temple attunement chain. Raid access is account-wide on the TBC Anniversary realms, but quest progress and quest rewards are not shared, so every alt you plan to raid on has to run the Akama chain itself to hold the medallion. From $53.10, full chain $287.10.

How this page differs from our Black Temple Attunement service: that page is for your main, the account unlock that opens the raid for the whole battle.net account. This page is the alt angle - the medallion itself, run on a second, third or fourth character that already inherits raid access but still shows up naked-necked.

The chain is 19 quests, starting from Anchorite Ceyla (Aldor) or Arcanist Thelis (Scryers) in Shadowmoon Valley with Tablets of Baa'ri, through Oronu the Elder, the Ashtongue Corruptors, the Warden's Cage, Seer Udalo in The Arcatraz (the only 5-man step) and Shadowlord Deathwail on the Ata'mal Terrace.

Three 25-man raid kills gate the back half: Fathom-Lord Karathress in Serpentshrine Cavern, Al'ar in Tempest Keep while wearing the Ashtongue Cowl, and Rage Winterchill in The Battle for Mount Hyjal. All three sit on separate weekly lockouts, so a single reset week is enough when the raids are scheduled together - 1 lockout if they line up, 2-3 in practice. The Hyjal step also means the Hyjal chain has to be finished on that same alt first.

After an Illidan Stormrage kill the quest The Fall of the Betrayer upgrades it to the Blessed Medallion of Karabor, which teleports you to the Black Temple gates on a 15-minute cooldown.

How it is delivered: piloted by default, or Self-play Remote for 30% more. Manual play, no bots. US realms are the default; EU is on the region switch above.

Frequently asked questions

  • The Medallion of Karabor is the Black Temple attunement item in TBC Anniversary - an epic, unique, bind-on-pickup neck piece with +3 Stamina and +3 Shadow Resistance. It is awarded by A Distraction for Akama, the final quest of the 19-step Akama attunement chain in Shadowmoon Valley.

  • No. Raid attunements unlock account-wide on the TBC Anniversary realms, so an alt can walk into Black Temple once your main is attuned, but the Medallion of Karabor itself is a quest reward and quest progress is not shared. Each character that wants the +3 Stamina, +3 Shadow Resistance neck has to run all 19 quests on its own.

  • The Black Temple Attunement page covers the account-wide raid unlock, usually done once on a main. This Medallion of Karabor page is the per-character version for alts that already have raid access from that unlock but still need the neck piece. Both run the same Akama chain and both start at $53.10 for the solo and 5-man stage.

  • Three 25-man kills: Fathom-Lord Karathress in Serpentshrine Cavern for The Secret Compromised, Al'ar in Tempest Keep for Ruse of the Ashtongue - killed while wearing the Ashtongue Cowl - and Rage Winterchill in The Battle for Mount Hyjal for An Artifact From the Past. Those three are the reason the Medallion of Karabor cannot be finished solo.

  • Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep and Mount Hyjal are on separate weekly lockouts, so all three Medallion of Karabor raid steps can technically land in 1 reset week. Realistically an alt run takes 2-3 lockouts around raid scheduling, with the solo and 5-man half of the chain finished inside a single day.

  • Yes on that character. An Artifact From the Past needs a Rage Winterchill kill inside The Battle for Mount Hyjal, so the alt has to be able to zone in. Account-wide unlocks cover the raid entry, but the Medallion of Karabor step itself only completes on the character that gets the kill and turns in the Time-Phased Phylactery to Akama.

  • After Illidan Stormrage dies, the quest The Fall of the Betrayer from Seer Kanai upgrades the Medallion of Karabor into the Blessed Medallion of Karabor. It keeps the neck slot stats and adds a use effect that teleports you straight to the Black Temple gates from anywhere in the world, on a 15-minute cooldown.

  • Yes. The Medallion of Karabor chain runs on every US TBC Anniversary realm, PvE and PvP, and US is the default region on this page. Raid steps are scheduled around your own ET or PT reset, support answers in US business hours, and prices start at $53.10 in USD. EU realms are on the region switch above.
