Quick answer: NC has published the full AION 2 Advance Access server list. There are five regions — Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America and Asia — and each server houses only one faction: Elyos servers and Asmodian servers are separate, and each Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian one for cross-faction PvP. When you log in you pick Region → Faction → Server, in that order. Advance Access opens September 30 at 6 AM PDT (13:00 UTC) and global launch follows October 5 at 6 AM PDT (13:00 UTC). Below is every server name, the matchmaking pairings, and how to choose.
AION 2's server structure is one of the biggest differences between it and most modern MMOs — and it is one of the first real decisions you make before you ever swing a weapon. Because each server holds a single faction, the server you pick decides who you fight beside and who you fight against in the Abyss. This guide covers the exact server list NC revealed on September 29, 2026, the faction-pairing system, the confirmed server-open times, and a practical way to choose. Everything here is sourced from NC's official Steam announcements for the global launch — not the Korean build, and not seller sites.
When do AION 2 servers actually open?
NC published the server-open schedule in its official "Advanced Access Servers" post on September 29, 2026. These are the confirmed times:
| Milestone | Time (PDT) | Time (UTC) |
|---|---|---|
| Advance Access opens | Sept 30, 6:00 AM PDT | Sept 30, 13:00 UTC |
| Advance Access ends / maintenance begins | Oct 4, 10:00 PM PDT | Oct 5, 05:00 UTC |
| Pre-launch maintenance | Oct 4, 10 PM – Oct 5, 6 AM PDT | Oct 5, 05:00 – 13:00 UTC |
| Global launch (free-to-play for everyone) | Oct 5, 6:00 AM PDT | Oct 5, 13:00 UTC |
NC notes that maintenance times are subject to change, so watch the official channels on launch eve. Advance Access requires a Founder's Pack; the October 5 launch is free to play. For a fuller countdown of every date, see our AION 2 release date guide.
One thing that is not in NC's copy: the servers are region-locked at selection but NC has not detailed cross-region play restrictions beyond the matchmaking system below. Pick the region closest to you for the best latency.
How AION 2 servers work: one faction per server
Here is the structural rule that trips up players coming from other MMOs. In NC's own words:
"In AION 2, each server houses only one faction. Every Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian counterpart, giving both factions their own home while still meeting in shared PvP spaces like the Abyss."
So there is no "roll an Elyos and an Asmodian on the same server." An Elyos server contains only Elyos players; an Asmodian server contains only Asmodian players. The two sides meet in cross-faction content — the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts — where you are matched against your server's paired rival.
That means your login flow is a three-step decision:
- Region — Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America, or Asia.
- Faction — Elyos or Asmodian. (Still deciding? Our Elyos or Asmodian guide breaks down the choice.)
- Server — pick from the servers available for that region and faction.
Because faction is baked into the server, choosing your faction is choosing your pool of servers. If you and a friend want to play together, you must be on the same faction and the same server — being on a paired enemy server means you meet only as opponents in the Abyss, not as allies.
AION 2 Advance Access server list (all regions)
Below is the complete Advance Access lineup NC published on September 29. Server names reuse familiar Aion lore names. This is the Advance Access list — NC may open additional servers at the October 5 global launch, so treat it as the confirmed starting lineup, not a permanent cap.
Europe
| Elyos servers | Asmodian servers |
|---|---|
| Siel | Israphel |
| Nezekan | Zikel |
| Vaizel | Triniel |
| Kaisinel | Lumiel |
Europe has the widest choice at Advance Access — four servers per faction.
NA West
| Elyos servers | Asmodian servers |
|---|---|
| Siel | Israphel |
NA East
| Elyos servers | Asmodian servers |
|---|---|
| Siel | Israphel |
| Nezekan | Zikel |
Latin America (LATAM)
| Elyos servers | Asmodian servers |
|---|---|
| Siel | Israphel |
| Nezekan | Zikel |
Asia
| Elyos servers | Asmodian servers |
|---|---|
| Siel | Israphel |
Every region opens with a Siel (Elyos) / Israphel (Asmodian) pair as its flagship; larger regions like Europe and NA East add more. If a region shows only one pair now, that is the launch baseline — expect NC to add servers where queues justify it.
AION 2 server matchmaking: who you fight in the Abyss
Matchmaking is an official AION 2 system, not a fan theory. Because factions live on separate servers, NC pairs each Elyos server with an Asmodian server so there is always an enemy to fight in cross-faction modes. NC explains it directly:
"Each Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian server for a limited time. Whenever you enter the Abyss or another cross-faction mode, the players you meet from the other faction will come from your matched server."
The published Advance Access pairings are:
| Region | Pair | Elyos | Asmodian |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe | 1 | Siel | Israphel |
| Europe | 2 | Nezekan | Zikel |
| Europe | 3 | Vaizel | Triniel |
| Europe | 4 | Kaisinel | Lumiel |
| NA West | 1 | Siel | Israphel |
| NA East | 1 | Siel | Israphel |
| NA East | 2 | Nezekan | Zikel |
| LATAM | 1 | Siel | Israphel |
| LATAM | 2 | Nezekan | Zikel |
| Asia | 1 | Siel | Israphel |
Two important caveats NC states outright:
- Pairings are not permanent. NC: "We will update server pairings periodically to keep the factions balanced. Today's pairing may be replaced by a new challenger down the road." So the rival server you're grudge-matched against now may change.
- You still only ever meet the enemy in cross-faction content. Outside the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts, your server is your own faction only.
For the full picture of how faction warfare, the Abyss and Rifts fit together, see our AION 2 PvP guide.
Which AION 2 server should you pick?
Nobody has population data on the global servers yet — they open today — so anyone publishing a "best server" tier list is guessing. Here is an honest decision framework instead:
- Pick your region by latency first. Play on the region physically closest to you. AION 2 is an action-combat MMO with dodges and positioning; ping matters more than a slightly bigger population.
- Pick your faction before your server. Faction determines your server pool, so decide Elyos vs Asmodian first. Both factions can do everything; the choice is aesthetic and social, not mechanical.
- Play with friends? Match server exactly. Same region, same faction, same server name. A paired enemy server does not let you group.
- Want the most active server? Go flagship. In every region, the Siel (Elyos) / Israphel (Asmodian) pair is the default, and defaults tend to fill first. If you want a busy market and fast group finds, the flagship pair is the safe bet. If you'd rather avoid launch queues, a secondary server in a big region (Europe's Vaizel/Triniel or Kaisinel/Lumiel) may pop less.
- Mind the transfer question. Players expect server transfers to arrive only months after launch, and NC has not published a global transfer policy yet. Treat your Advance Access server choice as semi-permanent for now, and don't assume you can move a character freely.
Do Advance Access characters carry over to global launch?
This is the most-asked server question right now, and the honest answer is nuanced. NC has confirmed the Advance Access → launch timeline (Advance Access Sept 30–Oct 4, maintenance, then global launch Oct 5) and that Advance Access is continuous into launch — this is not a wiped test like the Launch Scale Test was. Your Advance Access character continues into the live game.
What NC has not published is a server-merge or free-transfer policy. Community expectation on r/Aion2 is that an Advance Access character stays on its Advance Access server, with paid transfers arriving roughly two to three months post-launch — but that is player expectation, not an NC statement, so don't bank on it. Pick a server you're happy to stay on. See our AION 2 early access guide for what else carries over.
FAQ
How many AION 2 servers are there? At Advance Access (September 30, 2026), NC opened servers across five regions. Europe has four Elyos and four Asmodian servers; NA East and LATAM have two each per faction; NA West and Asia have one each per faction. NC may add more servers at the October 5 global launch.
What are the AION 2 server names? The Elyos server names are Siel, Nezekan, Vaizel and Kaisinel. The Asmodian server names are Israphel, Zikel, Triniel and Lumiel. Which of these appear depends on your region — every region includes at least the Siel (Elyos) / Israphel (Asmodian) pair.
Can Elyos and Asmodians play on the same server in AION 2? No. Each AION 2 server houses only one faction. Elyos and Asmodian players are on separate servers and meet only in cross-faction content like the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts, where each Elyos server is matched against a paired Asmodian server.
What time do AION 2 servers open? Advance Access servers open September 30, 2026 at 6:00 AM PDT (13:00 UTC). After maintenance on October 4–5, the global free-to-play launch servers open October 5 at 6:00 AM PDT (13:00 UTC). NC has noted maintenance times may change.
How do I play with a friend in AION 2? You must be on the same region, the same faction, and the same server. Being on a paired enemy server means you only ever meet as opponents in the Abyss, not as party members.
Can I transfer my AION 2 server later? NC has not published a global server-transfer policy. Players expect paid transfers to arrive a few months after launch, but nothing is confirmed, so choose a server you're comfortable staying on for a while.
The bottom line
AION 2's server system is simple once you know the rule: one faction per server, Elyos paired with Asmodian for the Abyss. Pick your region for latency, decide your faction, then choose a server — the flagship Siel/Israphel pair in each region if you want activity, a secondary server in Europe or NA East if you want shorter queues. Advance Access is live as of September 30, 6 AM PDT, and the free global launch follows October 5, 6 AM PDT.
