ARC Raiders Best Weapons Right Now (Before Frozen Trail): Meta Tier List & Where to Get Each

Quick answer: As of the current live build (September 2026), the strongest all-round weapon in ARC Raiders is the Anvil hand cannon — it shreds ARC armor and two-taps most raiders on a headshot. Right behind it: the Dolabra (Legendary energy shotgun), the Renegade battle rifle for range, the Bobcat SMG up close, and the Hullcracker grenade launcher for boss ARC. All of them are craftable — most gate behind a blueprint you loot or buy. Below is the full tier list, exact stats, and where to get each before Frozen Trail lands on October 8 and rewrites the meta with Amplified Weapons.

ARC Raiders isn't a game where the rarest gun wins. A well-upgraded Common can out-trade an Epic you don't know how to run, and half the "best weapons" arguments on r/ArcRaiders come down to fit — armor penetration for ARC, headshot burst for PvP, and mag size for panic fights. With the Frozen Trail expansion two weeks out (October 8) and a new Amplified weapon tier confirmed, now is the moment to lock in the guns that carry you through the last stretch of the current meta — and stockpile the materials to upgrade them.

This guide ranks the current meta, gives you the real stats from the official wiki, and tells you exactly where each blueprint or recipe comes from so you're not guessing at the workbench.

How do weapon tiers work in ARC Raiders?

ARC Raiders layers two systems on every gun:

  • Rarity (quality): Common → Uncommon → Rare → Epic → Legendary. Higher rarity means better base stats and more upgrade headroom. Legendary is the ceiling and cannot be upgraded further.
  • Upgrade level (I–IV): you take a weapon to the Gunsmith and upgrade it up to three times (I is base, IV is fully upgraded). Each level costs materials and raises damage, handling, or mag size.

That second axis is why a Common Rattler at tier IV outperforms an Epic you just looted at tier I. Rarity sets the potential; your material grind decides how much of it you actually get.

Ammo comes in six flavors — Light, Medium, Heavy, Shotgun, Energy, and Launcher — and matching your loadout to what you can reliably farm matters more than chasing a single "best" gun. If you're short on the crafting parts to feed these upgrades, our ARC Raiders materials service covers the gap.

"Rarity sets the ceiling — upgrade level decides how close you get to it." That one sentence settles most of the tier-list arguments in the subreddit: the best gun is the one you can afford to keep at tier IV.

1. Anvil — the best all-round weapon

The Anvil is a heavy-ammo hand cannon that does the two things ARC Raiders rewards most: it penetrates ARC armor and it punishes headshots (×2.5 multiplier). At 40 base damage per shot it two-taps most raiders on a clean head hit, and it stays useful against machines where an SMG just pings. It's the closest thing to a "no wrong answer" pick in the current meta.

How to get it: loot it in the field, or craft the Anvil Blueprint (5 Mechanical Components + 6 Simple Gun Parts). The vendor Tian Wen also sells it for 15,000 coins (3 per day), and the quests A Rising Tide (Anvil II) and Communication Hideout (Anvil III) hand you upgraded versions. Our Anvil blueprint location guide breaks down the fastest route.

2. Dolabra — the Legendary shotgun

The Dolabra is the current top-end pick, an Energy-ammo Legendary shotgun with a genuinely absurd 100m ADS range for a shotgun (20m hip). It hits 50 damage hip / 40 ADS across an 8-shell mag. Because it's Legendary it can't be upgraded — but its base ceiling is high enough that it doesn't need to be.

How to get it: craft-only. The Dolabra Blueprint drops from the ARC Assessor, then you build it at Gunsmith 3 with 3 Shredder Gyro, 3 Magnetic Accelerator, and 2 Vaporizer Regulator.

3. Renegade — the range king

If you play patient, mid-to-long range, the Renegade is your gun. A Rare lever-action battle rifle with a ×2.25 headshot multiplier and 68.8m effective range, it's the S-tier ranged mainstay for holding angles and picking off raiders before they close.

How to get it: craft at Gunsmith 3 (2 Advanced Mechanical Components + 3 Medium Gun Parts + 5 Oil), buy from Tian Wen for 21,000 coins (1/day), or earn Renegade I from the quest Back on Top.

4–5. Bobcat & Vulcano — close-range control

For anyone who wants to win the door fight: the Bobcat (Epic Light SMG, 66.7 fire rate, 20-round mag) is the best sustained close-range full-auto, and the Vulcano (Epic semi-auto shotgun, 49.5 damage) posts the highest close-range DPS in the game. Run one of these as your second slot alongside the Anvil or Renegade and you cover every engagement range.

How to get them: both are loot-or-craft. The Vulcano Blueprint needs Gunsmith 3 + 1 Magnetic Accelerator, 3 Heavy Gun Parts, 1 Exodus Modules; Bobcat needs 1 Magnetic Accelerator, 3 Light Gun Parts, 2 Exodus Modules. Grinding those Exodus Modules and Gun Parts is exactly what a blueprint & gear service is for if you'd rather skip the farm.

6. Hullcracker — the boss deleter

The Hullcracker is a Launcher-ammo grenade weapon built to erase heavy ARC. At 100 base damage with strong armor penetration, it's what you bring when a Queen, Matriarch, or Vaporizer stands between you and extract. It's overkill on players but a lifesaver on machines.

How to get it: loot it, buy it from Tian Wen for 30,000 coins (1/day), or unlock the blueprint from the quest The Major's Footlocker.

7–10. The workhorses: Torrente, Ferro, Rattler & Kettle

Not every slot needs to be Epic. The Torrente LMG (60–90 mag) shreds ARC swarms with pure volume. The Ferro is a Common break-action that fires one heavy round for 40 damage — a poor man's sniper you can craft from 5 Metal Parts + 2 Rubber Parts. And the Rattler and Kettle are the two Common assault rifles every new raider should master first: cheap, reliable, and available in free loadouts so you never drop into a raid unarmed.

What's changing with Frozen Trail on October 8?

A snow-covered settlement in ARC Raiders' Frozen Trail expansion, with a towering ARC machine looming over the valley

Everything you just read is about to get a new top layer. The official Frozen Trail First Look (September 23) confirmed a fifth weapon quality — Amplified Weapons — arriving with the expansion on October 8, 2026.

Amplified guns aren't just higher-rarity; they add a branching upgrade path at a new Research Workstation in your expanded personal Outpost, letting you reshape how a weapon behaves. Confirmed examples from the reveal include a fully-automatic Burletta, a scoped Renegade, and an incendiary Rattler with a 64-round magazine. Fifteen weapons get the Amplified treatment at launch, with more to follow.

Frozen Trail also ships two brand-new base guns — the Stiletto (a light-ammo battle rifle) and the Bantam (a heavy-ammo snub revolver with a unique hip-fire ability) — plus the Pendola Pass map, the towering Frigate ARC encounter, three new ARC enemies, a reworked skill tree, and a redesigned reward pass.

The takeaway: the guns above are the meta right now, and they stay relevant — Amplified builds on existing weapons like the Renegade and Rattler rather than replacing them. So every hour you spend upgrading these to tier IV and banking crafting materials before October 8 pays off directly when Amplification goes live. If you want to hit the ground running, our ARC Raiders leveling & prep service gets your loadout and materials ready before the expansion drops.

FAQ

What is the best weapon in ARC Raiders right now? The Anvil hand cannon is the best all-rounder in the current September 2026 build — it penetrates ARC armor and two-taps raiders on a headshot with its ×2.5 multiplier. For pure top-end power the Legendary Dolabra shotgun edges it out at close range, but the Anvil is more forgiving and easier to acquire.

Is a Legendary weapon always better than an Epic? No. Rarity sets a weapon's ceiling, but upgrade level (I–IV) decides how close you get to it. A fully-upgraded Epic Bobcat or even an upgraded Common can out-trade a tier-I Legendary you can't afford to improve. The best gun is the one you can keep at tier IV.

Do I need a blueprint to craft the best weapons? For the higher-rarity guns, yes. The Anvil, Vulcano, Torrente, Bobcat, Hullcracker, and Dolabra all gate behind a blueprint you loot, buy from a vendor, or unlock via a quest. Common guns like the Ferro, Rattler, and Kettle craft from basic materials at a Workbench with no blueprint required.

Should I hold my materials for Frozen Trail? Bank them, don't waste them. Amplified Weapons on October 8 build on existing guns (a scoped Renegade, an incendiary Rattler) rather than replacing them, and they'll demand crafting resources through the new Research Workstation. Materials and upgraded meta weapons you prep now carry straight into the expansion.

Is the Stiletto a good weapon to chase? Not yet — the Stiletto is a new light-ammo battle rifle launching with Frozen Trail on October 8, so it isn't in the live game yet. Focus on the current meta guns above until the expansion goes live.

Where do I get more crafting materials fast? Farm high-value ARC machines and loot rooms, run the material-heavy quests, or use a materials service to skip the grind. Mechanical Components, Gun Parts, and Exodus Modules are the bottleneck for most Epic-tier crafts.
