Amplifying your Bettina is a one-way door, and it forces a choice. Frozen Trail 2.0 added a fifth, Amplified level to a set of weapons, and the Bettina — the Epic heavy-ammo assault rifle built around armor penetration — is one of them. But its amplification tree forks into two branches that conflict with each other: you either build a bigger-magazine full-auto, or you go Semi-Auto into the armor-shredding X-Rounds. You cannot have both on the same gun. This guide lays out both Bettina build paths with their exact stat lines and material costs (verified against the ARC Raiders Wiki amplified-weapons table), the bench chain that unlocks them, and which one we recommend.
Quick answer (TL;DR): The Epic Bettina needs one Amplification Module Mk. IV to reach Level 5, after the Gunsmith and Research Station hit Level 4. It has three nodes on two exclusive paths. Path A — Bigger Mag: +15 magazine (22 → 37), stays full-auto, costs 3 Pressure Regulator. Path B — Semi-Auto → X-Rounds: Semi-Auto (+3 base damage, 20% reduced max shot dispersion, 20% reduced fire rate; 3 Pneumatic Actuator), then X-Rounds (another +3 base damage, 25% increased damage vs ARC armor, 20% more vertical and horizontal recoil, 30% reduced bullet velocity, −4 magazine; 3 Fossilized Lightning). Path B ends as an 18-round semi-auto with +6 base damage. Bigger Mag conflicts with both Path B nodes, and amplifications are permanent. For ARC and bosses, our pick is Path B.
Every stat below comes from the community-maintained ARC Raiders Wiki (not an official developer publication) and the official Frozen Trail 2.0 update notes. Confirm the live in-game tooltip before you commit a module.

What is the Bettina in ARC Raiders?
The Bettina is an Epic assault rifle that fires Heavy Ammo on a fully-automatic trigger. Its in-game description is "Has slow fire rate and high damage output" — it trades the spray of a Tempest for per-shot punch and strong armor penetration.
Base stats from the Bettina wiki page:
| Stat | Base value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Epic |
| Ammo type | Heavy Ammo |
| Firing mode | Fully-Automatic |
| Damage | 16 |
| Fire rate | 28.7 (250 RPM) |
| Magazine size | 22 |
| Headshot multiplier | 1.5x |
| ARC armor penetration | Strong |
| Range | 52.3 |
| Stability | 79.7 |
| Weight | 11.0 |
| Durability (I to IV) | 759 / 843 / 948 / 1095 shots |
| Sell price (I to IV) | 8,000 / 11,000 / 14,000 / 18,000 Coins |
These are base figures. Each upgrade level layers modifiers on top: Bettina IV carries +15% fire rate and a 33.3% reload reduction, so its real fire rate sits above the 250 RPM base.
The Strong armor-penetration rating is the whole reason the Bettina exists. It chews through armored ARC and is a dependable pick for stripping leg-armor plates off the Matriarch and Queen. Against medium ARC like Bastions and Bombardiers it is a comfortable mid-range answer.
How do you craft and upgrade the Bettina?
You need the Bettina Blueprint, then craft at Gunsmith 3 with 3x Advanced Mechanical Components, 3x Heavy Gun Parts and 3x Canister. Each upgrade adds fire rate, cuts reload time and raises durability:
- Bettina II: +5% fire rate, 11.1% reduced reload, +10 durability
- Bettina III: +10% fire rate, 22.2% reduced reload, +20 durability
- Bettina IV: +15% fire rate, 33.3% reduced reload, +30 durability
The blueprint drops from scavenging, and the Sizing Things Up quest hands you a Bettina I. For every weapon blueprint and where it comes from, see our ARC Raiders blueprints index.
How does Bettina amplification work?
The Bettina is one spoke of the wider system covered in our ARC Raiders amplified weapons hub, which lists every node across all amplifiable guns. Here is what matters for the Bettina.
Amplification is the weapon's Level 5 upgrade. Per the wiki's Amplified Weapons page, you must first upgrade the Gunsmith to Level 4 and the Research Station to Level 4, and reaching Level 5 consumes an Amplification Module matching the weapon's base rarity. Each node then needs its own Amplified Research completed at the Research Station before it can be activated.
Four facts decide whether it is worth it:
- It is permanent and it forces a branch. The wiki is explicit: "Once an Amplification is activated, it cannot be removed or changed." Bigger Mag lists Semi-Auto as a conflict, and X-Rounds requires Semi-Auto and also conflicts with Bigger Mag — so there is no take-everything Bettina.
- It costs a Mk. IV module. The Mark must match rarity: Mk. I Common, Mk. II Uncommon, Mk. III Rare, Mk. IV Epic, Mk. V Legendary. Modules come from the Fallen Emperor (opened with an Emperor Gateway Conduit on Pendola Pass) and the cargo inside the ARC Frigate during its event. Community guides report any Mark can roll from either source — treat that as community reporting and farm volume. Route breakdown: Amplification Module farm guide.
- Durability changes. Every Level 5 weapon gains +70 max durability, but knocked-out Raiders drop amplified weapons at 10% durability, and repairing a Level 5 weapon requires Amplified Fragments.
- Each node has its own material bill (listed below), on top of the module.
What are the two Bettina amplification paths?
The Bettina has three amplification nodes — Bigger Mag, Semi-Auto and X-Rounds. They split into two paths:
| Path | Node (research) | Effect on the Bettina | Materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Bigger Mag (Space Efficient Stacking) | +15 magazine size (22 → 37); stays full-auto | 3 Pressure Regulator |
| B, step 1 | Semi-Auto (Trigger Reset Systems) | Semi-automatic trigger; +3 base damage; 20% reduced max shot dispersion; 20% reduced fire rate | 3 Pneumatic Actuator |
| B, step 2 | X-Rounds (Embedded Blast Engineering) | +3 base damage; 25% increased damage vs ARC armor; 20% increased vertical and horizontal recoil; 30% reduced bullet velocity; −4 magazine size. Requires Semi-Auto | 3 Fossilized Lightning |
Bigger Mag conflicts with Semi-Auto and with X-Rounds. Path B stacks both of its nodes, so the finished build carries +6 base damage in total and an 18-round magazine. Verify the final displayed damage in-game rather than adding numbers by hand.
Bigger Mag (Path A)
+15 magazine size, taking the stock 22 rounds to 37 — about 68% more capacity. Damage, fire mode and handling are unchanged; it is pure uptime. (Drum Mag is a Rattler node, not a Bettina one.)
The base 22-round mag empties fast for a gun you want to hold on target through an armored ARC fight. Path A keeps the Bettina fully automatic and is the right call if reloads, not raw armor damage, are what get you killed. It is also the cheapest single node at 3 Pressure Regulator — but it locks you out of Path B for good.
Semi-Auto → X-Rounds (Path B)
Semi-Auto converts the Bettina to a semi-automatic trigger with +3 base damage, 20% reduced max shot dispersion and 20% reduced fire rate — tighter, harder-hitting single shots at the cost of rate of fire.
X-Rounds sits behind Semi-Auto and is the payoff. The wiki describes it as an explosive compound "dealing slightly increased damage to Raiders and significantly increased damage to ARC Armor plating". On the Bettina that is another +3 base damage, 25% increased damage vs ARC armor, 20% increased vertical and horizontal recoil, 30% reduced bullet velocity and −4 magazine size. Values differ by weapon — the Anvil's version, for example, lists +5 base damage and 33% vs ARC armor — so do not copy another gun's numbers onto the Bettina.
The finished Path B Bettina is an 18-round semi-auto armor-stripper: Strong penetration plus +25% vs ARC armor, paid for with heavier recoil and slower bullets.
Which Bettina path should you pick?
Our pick (based on the listed modifiers, not lab testing): For a main ARC-killing rifle, take Path B (Semi-Auto → X-Rounds). Stacking +25% vs ARC armor onto a gun with Strong penetration plays straight into what the Bettina is for. Take Path A (Bigger Mag) if you want a high-uptime full-auto for mixed PvP and ARC fights and do not want to trade fire rate. The paths conflict, so decide before you spend the module.
A quick decision tree:
- You mostly hunt ARC, run Matriarch and Queen, or farm the Frigate: Path B.
- You get caught reloading in Raider fights and like full-auto: Path A.
- You are short on Fossilized Lightning: Path A costs only 3 Pressure Regulator; Path B needs 3 Pneumatic Actuator plus 3 Fossilized Lightning. See our Pneumatic Actuator and Pressure Regulator farm guide.
Is the Bettina worth amplifying?
Yes — if the Bettina is already your main ARC rifle. Path B turns it into a dedicated heavy-ammo armor-stripper. The Heavy Ammo stack-size increase from 40 to 60 in the April 2026 Riven Tides update 1.26.0 also eased its biggest weakness: carrying enough ammo to feed it.
No — if you are still finding your main. Amplification is permanent, forces a branch and eats a Mk. IV module. Modules are scarce in the Frozen Trail endgame, so spend yours on the gun and the path you actually want.
The honest read: the Bettina is an ARC-first rifle that can hold its own against players, not a PvP-first gun.
Bettina vs Anvil — do they compete for modules?
No, and this trips people up. The Anvil is a Rare single-action Hand Cannon (6-round mag, 40 damage, 2.5x headshot), not an Epic heavy rifle. Being Rare, it takes a Mk. III module, while the Epic Bettina needs Mk. IV, so amplifying one never costs you the other. The Anvil also has its own Anvil Splitter node, which splits each bullet into four weaker projectiles. Want a sustained armor-shredder? Amplify the Bettina. Want a precise, high-headshot hand cannon? That is a different slot. For full kit context, see our best ARC Raiders loadout guide.
What attachments should you run on an amplified Bettina?
Attachments should reinforce your path. Path B adds recoil and cuts bullet speed; Path A just wants recoil control for long full-auto strings. Tier III values and trade-offs from the wiki Weapon Mods page:
- Extended Barrel III (Muzzle) — 30% increased bullet velocity and 15% increased distance until damage falloff, but 15% increased vertical recoil. It claws back some of X-Rounds' velocity loss on Path B; pair it with a grip.
- Vertical Grip III (Underbarrel) — 40% reduced vertical recoil, but 30% reduced ADS speed. Tightens the climb, especially the extra recoil X-Rounds adds.
- Stable Stock III (Stock) — 50% reduced recoil recovery duration and 50% reduced dispersion recovery time, but 20% increased equip and unequip time. Snaps the sight back between Path B shots.
Run two to three stacks of Heavy Ammo and scavenge the rest topside. On Path B, fire controlled single shots at range; on Path A, burst in full-auto and lean on the 37-round mag.
The real wall is the Research Station Level 4 requirement plus the node materials — the same gate for every amplified weapon.

FAQ
How many amplification paths does the Bettina have? Two. Path A is Bigger Mag (+15 magazine, 22 → 37, full-auto). Path B is Semi-Auto followed by X-Rounds, which requires Semi-Auto. Bigger Mag conflicts with both Path B nodes. Every Level 5 weapon also gets +70 max durability regardless of path.
What amplification should I put on the Bettina first? For ARC and bosses, research Semi-Auto (Trigger Reset Systems), then X-Rounds (Embedded Blast Engineering) for +25% damage vs ARC armor. Take Bigger Mag only if you want a high-uptime full-auto instead.
How much damage does an amplified Bettina do? Path B adds +3 base damage from Semi-Auto and another +3 from X-Rounds, plus 25% increased damage vs ARC armor. Path A leaves damage unchanged. Check the final number on the in-game tooltip.
What materials does Bettina amplification cost? One Amplification Module Mk. IV to reach Level 5, then 3 Pressure Regulator for Bigger Mag, or 3 Pneumatic Actuator for Semi-Auto plus 3 Fossilized Lightning for X-Rounds.
Where do I get Amplification Modules for the Bettina? From the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass and the ARC Frigate cargo. The Bettina is Epic, so it needs Mk. IV.
What do you need to amplify the Bettina? The Outpost unlocked, the Gunsmith and Research Station at Level 4, a Mk. IV module, and the node's Amplified Research completed at the Research Station.
Can you run Bigger Mag and X-Rounds on the same Bettina? No. This is the most common complaint from players who amplified their first Bettina: X-Rounds lists Bigger Mag as a conflict, so you choose between the 37-round full-auto and the 18-round semi-auto "boom rounds" build.
Can you undo a Bettina amplification? No. Once an amplification is activated it cannot be removed or changed, so the path you pick is final for that weapon.
