ARC Raiders Equalizer Amplification: Ramping or Weak Point?

ARC Raiders Equalizer Amplification: Ramping or Weak Point?

The Equalizer is ARC Raiders' Legendary beam rifle: Energy Clip ammo, a 50-round magazine, fully automatic fire, 8 damage per hit and Very Strong ARC armor penetration. It's the gun players reach for when a Queen or a Bastion needs to come down, and Frozen Trail 2.0 made it amplifiable. It gets three nodes, Ramping Damage, Anti-Weak Point and Bigger Mag, but the two damage nodes conflict, so the real decision is which one goes on your gun forever. This Equalizer amplification guide compares them using the tooltip values and costs from the ARC Raiders Wiki amplified-weapons table, walks through both research projects, adds up the full material bill and tells you which build to take.

Quick answer (TL;DR): The Legendary Equalizer needs one Amplification Module Mk. V to reach Level 5, after the Gunsmith and Research Station both hit Level 4. Ramping Damage (3 Queen Reactor, Beam Resonance Tech research) builds damage while the beam stays on a target. Anti-Weak Point (2 Assessor Matrix, Targeted Component Trial research) gives +67% damage to ARC weak points but 60% less damage to ARC armor. They conflict, so you get one. Bigger Mag (3 Pressure Regulator, no research) adds +30 rounds and stacks with either. Our pick: Ramping Damage + Bigger Mag. Anti-Weak Point trades away the armor-shredding that makes the Equalizer worth carrying.

What is Equalizer amplification?

Weapon Amplification arrived with Frozen Trail 2.0 on October 8, 2026. Amplified weapons can be pushed to Level 5, which unlocks amplification slots that change how the gun behaves (Amplified Weapons, ARC Raiders Wiki). The upgrade consumes an Amplification Module that matches the weapon's base rarity. The Equalizer is Legendary, so it takes the top-tier Amplification Module Mk. V. Every Level 5 weapon also gets +70 Max Durability.

Three rules apply to every amplified gun, and all three matter more on an expensive Legendary:

  • Activated amplifications are permanent. You can't remove or swap a node later.
  • Some nodes need research first. On the Equalizer, both damage nodes do. Bigger Mag doesn't.
  • Some nodes conflict. Ramping Damage and Anti-Weak Point lock each other out, so the most you can run is one damage node plus Bigger Mag.

ARC Tracker's upgrade tree for the Amplified Equalizer shows the same thing: the only two-perk versions are Ramping Damage + Bigger Mag and Anti-Weak Point + Bigger Mag. If you're still choosing which gun to amplify at all, the amplified weapons hub lists every eligible weapon and node.

What are the Equalizer amplification nodes?

The Equalizer sits in the wiki's Specials table with three nodes:

NodeEffectResearchMaterialsConflicts
Ramping DamageGradually increases damage while the laser stays on a valid targetBeam Resonance Tech3 Queen ReactorAnti-Weak Point
Anti-Weak Point+67% damage vs ARC weak points, 60% reduced damage vs ARC armorTargeted Component Trial2 Assessor MatrixRamping Damage
Bigger Mag+30 magazine sizeNone listed3 Pressure RegulatorNone

Equalizer amplification nodes: Ramping Damage costs 3 Queen Reactor, Anti-Weak Point costs 2 Assessor Matrix, and Bigger Mag costs 3 Pressure Regulator

What does Ramping Damage do?

The tooltip reads: "Gradually increases the Equalizer's damage while its laser remains in contact with a valid target." That's all Embark has published. There's no official number yet for how fast the damage climbs, how high it caps, or how quickly it resets when you lose the target, and the wiki lists no stat line for it. Treat any exact ramp figure you see quoted as unverified.

What the tooltip does tell you is the condition: the bonus only builds while the beam stays on target. That suits a gun with a 50-round magazine, a 1-second spin-up before the first shot (ARC Tracker) and very little reason to stop firing once it starts. It suits big, slow ARC that you can hold the beam on.

What does Anti-Weak Point do?

Two numbers, one upside and one downside:

  • +67% damage vs ARC weak points
  • 60% reduced damage vs ARC armor

That second line is the problem. The Equalizer's whole identity is Very Strong armor penetration: it's built to cut through plating that stops lighter guns. Anti-Weak Point makes every hit that lands on armor do 60% less, in exchange for a bonus that only pays out on exposed weak points. On a fully automatic beam that you're holding on a big target, a lot of your hits land on plating.

What does Bigger Mag do?

+30 magazine size, taking the Equalizer from 50 to 80 rounds. No research, no conflicts, no listed penalty. More time on the trigger before a reload also means more time for Ramping Damage to stay built up, which is why the two pair so naturally.

Ramping Damage vs Anti-Weak Point: which is better?

Ramping Damage, for almost everyone. Here's how the two compare on the things that decide it:

Ramping DamageAnti-Weak Point
Damage to ARC armorKept, and ramps up while you hold the beam60% lower
Damage to ARC weak pointsRamps up while you hold the beam+67%
Published numbersNone yetYes
Research challenge1,500 damage to Vaporizers with an Equalizer in one roundDestroy 40 thrusters on flying ARC
Research hand-in5,000 Research Points + 2 Queen Reactor5,000 Research Points + 20 Fireball Burner
Node cost3 Queen Reactor2 Assessor Matrix

Three things decide it:

  • Anti-Weak Point fights the gun's strength. You bring an Equalizer to delete armored ARC. A node that cuts armor damage by 60% turns it into a weak-point gun, and a fully automatic beam won't land every hit on the weak point.
  • Ramping Damage rewards what the Equalizer already does. Holding a beam on one big target is its normal job. The node adds damage the longer you do it.
  • Anti-Weak Point is the cheaper and better-documented option, and that's its real case. Its research hand-in skips Queen Reactors entirely, and the research is shared with other guns: completed Amplified Research unlocks its node on every eligible Level 5 weapon (Amplified Research, ARC Raiders Wiki). If you already finished Targeted Component Trial for an amplified Osprey, Anti-Weak Point costs you just 2 Assessor Matrix.

The honest caveat: Ramping Damage has no published ramp rate or cap, so nobody can give you an exact damage comparison yet. The case for it is the mechanic, not a spreadsheet. On the r/ArcRaiders threads about amplified guns, players who've built it mostly land the same way: Ramping Damage + Bigger Mag is the build they recommend, and the Queen Reactor bill is the main complaint.

Which Equalizer amplification build is best?

Rank them by how you use the gun:

  • Bosses, Queens, Bastions and other heavily armored ARC: Ramping Damage + Bigger Mag. This is the default. You keep the full armor penetration, the damage climbs while you hold the beam, and 80 rounds give it time to climb.
  • You mostly shoot exposed weak points and already own Targeted Component Trial: Anti-Weak Point + Bigger Mag. Cheaper, with a known +67%. Just accept that any shot on plating does 60% less.
  • You're short on Queen Reactors right now: Bigger Mag first, then wait. Bigger Mag needs no research and doesn't conflict with anything, so it never blocks your choice. Take it, keep using the gun, and add Ramping Damage once you've banked the reactors. Don't settle for Anti-Weak Point just because it's cheaper. It's permanent.

Our verdict: Ramping Damage + Bigger Mag is the Equalizer amplification. Anti-Weak Point is a niche build for weak-point specialists, not a budget version of the same gun.

How do you unlock Equalizer amplification?

Full Ramping Damage Equalizer cost: one Amplification Module Mk. V, 2 Queen Reactor for the research plus 3 for the node, 3 Pressure Regulator for Bigger Mag, 5,000 Research Points and Level 4 Gunsmith and Research Station

The chain is the same for every amplifiable weapon (Amplified Weapons, ARC Raiders Wiki):

  • Get an Equalizer (see below).
  • Raise the Gunsmith to Level 4.
  • Raise the Research Station to Level 4. The Outpost build guide covers the order.
  • Upgrade the Equalizer to Level 5 with one Amplification Module Mk. V.
  • Activate Bigger Mag right away. It needs no research.
  • Finish Beam Resonance Tech, then activate Ramping Damage.

The research: Beam Resonance Tech (Ramping Damage)

Amplified Research projects have two steps: a challenge, then 5,000 Research Points plus ARC components (Amplified Research, ARC Raiders Wiki). The project text: "The Equalizer is at its best when the beam stays exactly where the target would rather not have it."

  • Step 1: deal 1,500 damage to Vaporizers with an Equalizer in one round. It has to be one round, so bring enough Energy Clips and pick a raid where you can find more than one Vaporizer. Our Vaporizer guide covers where it's weak.
  • Step 2: submit 5,000 Research Points and 2 Queen Reactor.

The research: Targeted Component Trial (Anti-Weak Point)

  • Step 1: destroy 40 thrusters on flying ARC enemies.
  • Step 2: submit 5,000 Research Points and 20 Fireball Burner.

If Research Points are your bottleneck, see which research pays best.

The materials

  • Queen Reactor (Ramping Damage, 5 total: 2 research + 3 node): Legendary, scavenged from destroyed Queens or the leg armor segments blown off during the fight (Queen Reactor, ARC Raiders Wiki). ARC Tracker also lists it in the Harvester and in ARC Courier containers. This is the expensive part of the build, and the same reactor is in the Equalizer's own crafting recipe. Our Queen and Matriarch reactor guide covers the farm.
  • Assessor Matrix (Anti-Weak Point, 2 needed): Epic, scavenged from the ARC Assessor (Assessor Matrix, ARC Raiders Wiki). ARC Tracker lists it only under the Close Scrutiny map condition, so check conditions before you go looking.
  • Pressure Regulator (Bigger Mag, 3 needed): Epic, a Frozen Trail amplification material. The wiki lists the Harvester payload as a source, and ARC Tracker lists the Fallen Emperor and the ARC Frigate. Our Pneumatic Actuator and Pressure Regulator farm covers the routes.

Total for the recommended build: 1 Mk. V module, 5 Queen Reactor, 3 Pressure Regulator and 5,000 Research Points, on top of the gun itself.

How do you get the Equalizer?

You need the Equalizer Blueprint, which the wiki lists as found inside the Harvester. It can't be made at the Research Station (Equalizer Blueprint, ARC Raiders Wiki). Our Harvester puzzle guide covers the solve order.

With the blueprint learned, the Equalizer crafts at Gunsmith 3 from 3 Magnetic Accelerator, 3 Complex Gun Parts and 1 Queen Reactor (Equalizer, ARC Raiders Wiki). That brings the Queen Reactor count for a crafted, fully built Ramping Equalizer to 6.

Where do you get an Amplification Module Mk. V?

The wiki lists the same two sources for every Mark: the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass, opened with an Emperor Gateway Conduit, and the cargo inside the ARC Frigate during the ARC Frigate event (Amplification Module Mk. V, ARC Raiders Wiki). The Amplification Module farm guide compares the two runs, and the Frigate guide covers boarding. Both are also where ARC Tracker finds Pressure Regulators, so one good run can cover the module and Bigger Mag together.

What happens if you lose an amplified Equalizer?

Research is permanent: Beam Resonance Tech stays done. The Mk. V module and the node materials are spent on that one gun. If you're knocked out, an amplified weapon drops with its durability cut to 10%. Lose a Ramping Equalizer and the next one costs another Mk. V, 3 more Queen Reactors for the node and 3 more Pressure Regulators, plus a fresh gun.

Level 5 weapons can only be repaired with Amplified Fragments. ARC Tracker lists 22 Amplified Fragments for a 50% repair and an Amplified Equalizer sell value of 35,200, against 27,500 for the stock gun on the wiki. At 14 kg it's also a heavy carry. Run it as a kit you plan to extract with, not one you throw into every raid.

Is amplifying the Equalizer worth it?

Yes, if the Equalizer is already your ARC-killer. Bigger Mag is a free win once the gun is Level 5. Ramping Damage is expensive, five Queen Reactors between research and node, but it's the only option that adds damage without giving up the armor penetration that defines the gun. Anti-Weak Point is cheaper and its numbers are public, but a 60% cut to armor damage turns a plating-shredder into a weak-point specialist. Choose it only if that's what you want.

FAQ

Can you have Ramping Damage and Anti-Weak Point on the same Equalizer? No. They conflict, so you pick one. Bigger Mag stacks with either, which makes two nodes the maximum on one Equalizer.

How much does Ramping Damage increase the Equalizer's damage? Embark hasn't published a number. The tooltip only says damage increases gradually while the laser stays on a valid target. Be careful with any exact ramp figure until the wiki or patch notes list one.

Does Anti-Weak Point make the Equalizer worse against armor? Yes. It adds 67% damage against ARC weak points but cuts damage against ARC armor by 60%, which works against the Equalizer's Very Strong armor penetration.

What module does the Equalizer need? The Amplification Module Mk. V, because the Equalizer is Legendary and the module must match the weapon's base rarity. Modules come from the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass and from ARC Frigate cargo.

How many Queen Reactors do you need for a Ramping Damage Equalizer? Five for the amplification: 2 for Beam Resonance Tech and 3 for the node. Crafting the gun takes one more, so six from scratch.

Does Bigger Mag need research? No. The wiki lists no research for the Equalizer's Bigger Mag. It costs 3 Pressure Regulators once the gun is Level 5 and adds 30 rounds.
