Sources: the official Brawl Talk video, the Brawl Stars Wiki Thunder Frogs page (which quotes the in-game text), and in-game screens shared on r/Brawlstars and r/BrawlStarsCompetitive.
The full Thunder Frogs kit surfaced on November 2, and one of the biggest reactions on r/BrawlStarsCompetitive was a post titled "How did it get through the balance phase?" This guide covers what the three frogs actually do, what the numbers come to at Power 11, when you can expect them, and how likely you are to get them for free.
Quick answer (TLDR): Thunder Frogs are a Legendary Artillery Brawler and the 109th in Brawl Stars, due in November 2026 with no exact date yet. Our estimate is around November 12, one week after Season 56. They have 3,500 Health at Power 1, and their attack makes a triangle that hits for 1,050 inside and 1,500 on the sides. The Super, Frogzilla, gives you 3 jumps. In the New Brawler Event, 20 boxes guarantee the unlock, which takes 40 wins. Nori's Legendary event gave only 42 tickets, so most players should plan for partial odds rather than a sure thing.

Who are the Thunder Frogs in Brawl Stars?
Thunder Frogs are three frogs named Zap, Zee and Volt who count as one Brawler. Supercell introduced them in the October 31 Brawl Talk as Ziggy's stage assistants, and called them the first Legendary Artillery Brawler. Their in-game description reads:
"Zap, Zee and Volt are the Thunder Frogs! Gifted a magical hat by Ziggy, they can now safely perform their electrifying routine."
The unlock screen sums up the plan in one line: "Launch frogs around the map to control areas." The wiki lists them as the 109th Brawler, with Normal movement speed (750). You'll see the name spelled both ways: the game cards say Thunder Frogs, while Reddit and some sites write Thunderfrogs.
What are the Thunder Frogs stats?
The wiki lists Power 1 values. Power 11 stats are double Power 1, so we've worked those out below. The Hypercharge card supports this, since its 2,100 and 3,000 are exactly twice the attack's 1,050 and 1,500.
| Stat | Power 1 (wiki) | Power 11 (calculated) |
|---|---|---|
| Health | 3,500 | 7,000 |
| Frog direct hit | 480 | 960 |
| Triangle, inside | 1,050 | 2,100 |
| Triangle, sides | 1,500 | 3,000 |
| Super landing, edge | 1,500 | 3,000 |
| Super landing, center | 1,950 | 3,900 |
Two things stand out. The sides of the triangle hit harder than the middle, so an enemy standing on the line takes about 43% more than one standing in the center. And a center Super landing is close to 4,000 damage at Power 11, from an Artillery Brawler, three times per Super.
How does the Thunder Frogs attack work?
The main attack is called Triangle Trick, and it plays nothing like a normal thrower. In-game text: "A frog jumps to a location, dealing area damage. Once the 2nd frog has jumped, electricity surges between the 3 in a triangle of area damage before they hop back together."
The steps are:
- First throw: one frog lands and stays there, with a small hit (480 at Power 1) on anyone it lands on.
- Second throw: the second frog lands, and the two frogs plus your Brawler become the triangle's corners.
- Damage: everything inside takes area damage, and the sides deal more.
- Ammo: you have 2 ammo, and the wiki says it doesn't reload until both are used or you're defeated.
Because your own position is a corner, where you stand decides the shape of the triangle. Aim to put enemies on the line, not in the middle. The first frog also acts as a warning, so expect good players to move before the second throw. That delay is the main counterplay this attack has.
What does the Frogzilla Super do?
Frogzilla merges the three frogs into one big frog that jumps up to 3 times, dealing area damage with more at the center. In-game text: "The third jump is the biggest. After the 3 jumps are used, or the timer runs out, the Thunder Frogs return to normal."
You can't use the main attack during the Super. The wiki says the last jump has the longest range, and Brawl Metrics reports the jumps cross walls and water. That makes it both a kill tool and an escape. A simple pattern is to jump in on a low-Health target, jump again to finish, then save the long third jump to get out.
What are the Thunder Frogs Gadgets and Star Powers?
| Upgrade | Type | Effect | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double Jumpers | Gadget | Next attack throws both frogs at once for an instant triangle. Needs full ammo and uses all of it | 13 seconds |
| Soothing Shock | Gadget | Next triangle heals allies inside for 4,000 | 18 seconds |
| Leech Landing | Star Power | Super jump damage heals Thunder Frogs for 75% of the damage dealt | Passive |
| Swamp Stomps | Star Power | Triangle sides slow enemies by 15% for 2 seconds | Passive |
| Triple the Tricks | Hypercharge | The three Super jumps form a triangle dealing 2,100 inside and 3,000 on the sides | Charge meter |
The Soothing Shock figure comes from the in-game card shown below. The wiki's stat box currently says 3,200 while its own quoted text says 4,000, so we're going with the card.
Our pre-release build pick: take Soothing Shock and Leech Landing as the default. The heal is a team-fight swing every 18 seconds, and the lifesteal keeps you alive when you jump in. Switch to Double Jumpers if the two-step throw keeps getting dodged, because it removes the warning entirely. Swamp Stomps looks like the weaker Star Power, since it only applies on the sides and only for 15%. These picks come from reading the kit, not from match data, because nobody can play them yet.

When do Thunder Frogs come out?
Supercell has only said November 2026, with no date in the Brawl Talk. Season 56 is due on November 5 at 08:00 UTC, based on Supercell's first-Thursday season rule and the Season 55 end time. Some players are also expecting changes as soon as tomorrow, and Sportsdunia lists Brawl Vice for November 3, but we found no Supercell confirmation of that.
The pattern gives a better guide than rumor. The last three regular events all started exactly one week into their season:
| Brawler | Season start | Event start | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nori | July 2 | July 9 | 7 days |
| Wendy | August 6 | August 13 | 7 days |
| Cosmo | September 3 | September 10 | 7 days |
Applied to a November 5 season, that points to Thursday, November 12. Treat this as an estimate. Vince broke the pattern in October, starting on October 19 after a Scary Coffin opened early, so a community event could move the date again. These New Brawler Event dates come from the wiki.
How do you unlock Thunder Frogs for free?
The event screen says it plainly: "Unlock chance in each box! Guaranteed unlock at 20!" Here's how the Brawler Box system works:
- Each event match costs 1 ticket.
- Every 2 wins earns 1 Thunder Frogs Box.
- Each box has 8 drops, and the Brawler is one possible drop.
- Thunder Frogs are maxed in the event, so you can try them before you own them.
Twenty boxes takes 40 wins. Nori, the last Legendary, gave 15 tickets on day 1 and 3 per day, 42 in total. If Thunder Frogs get the same allowance, a free guarantee needs a 95% win rate. The preview screen above shows 14 tickets and 9 days 1 hour left, which doesn't settle the total. Boxes can also be bought with Gems, but no price is confirmed yet.
The Nori and Vince Box tables both give the new Brawler a 3 in 910 chance per drop. Assuming Thunder Frogs Boxes match, about 2.6% per box, your odds look like this:
| Win rate on 42 tickets | Wins | Boxes | Chance to unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50% | 21 | 10 | 23.2% |
| 60% | 25 | 12 | 27.2% |
| 70% | 29 | 14 | 30.9% |
| 80% | 33 | 16 | 34.5% |
Spend all your tickets before the event ends, and pick your best Brawler when a map doesn't suit the frogs, since any win counts toward a box. If you miss out, Brawler Blast charges 3,800 Credits for a Legendary from the ones you don't own, with a 50% chance of choosing between 2 to 4 of them and no guarantee of the frogs, while a direct unlock costs 699 Gems or 4 Brawler Keys. Keys are the better value, and our Brawl Pass guide shows where they come from.
Are Thunder Frogs overpowered?
They look very strong on paper, and many players agree. On r/BrawlStarsCompetitive, u/Wal655 called the Soothing Shock Gadget "a better Byron super." The pushback is measured too. u/Nikpeely argued the frogs are "definitely top 5 Brawlers at worst but not confirmed Best," pointing to the delay between throws and shorter range than other throwers.
Our read: expect high win rates in Hot Zone and Knockout, where a large triangle can cover a choke or a whole zone. Fast assassins that reach them between throws should be their main weakness, especially once the Super is spent. Launch win rates tend to run high, too. Wendy launched near 79% on some trackers and was nerfed soon after. We'll add real data to our Brawl Stars tier list once the frogs are live, and the V70 balance preview covers what's changing for everyone else.
FAQ
When is the Thunder Frogs release date? Supercell has only confirmed November 2026. Based on the last three regular events, our estimate is around November 12, one week after Season 56 starts.
Are Thunder Frogs free? They can be. Open 20 Thunder Frogs Boxes in the New Brawler Event for a guaranteed unlock, or get lucky with an earlier box. That takes 40 wins, so most players won't reach 20 on tickets alone.
What rarity are Thunder Frogs? They're Legendary, and their class is Artillery. Supercell calls them the first Legendary Artillery Brawler.
How much do Thunder Frogs cost? A direct unlock costs 699 Gems or 4 Brawler Keys, the standard Legendary price. Brawler Blast charges 3,800 Credits, but it doesn't guarantee Thunder Frogs: you get an unowned Legendary at random, with a 50% chance of a choice between 2 to 4.
What are the Thunder Frogs names? Zap, Zee and Volt. They count as one Brawler and work as Ziggy's stage assistants.
Do Thunder Frogs have a Hypercharge? Yes. Triple the Tricks turns the three Super jumps into a triangle that deals 2,100 inside and 3,000 on the sides.
