DBD 2v8 2026: When Is It Coming Back? Every Past Run and the Last Roster

DBD 2v8 is not live right now. The last run, 2v8 (V9 - Alien), went live on 8 September 2026 and ended on 29 September 2026, per the Official Dead by Daylight Wiki's 2v8 Event Tracker. Behaviour has not announced a date for the next one. Today's thread asking exactly that on r/deadbydaylight got the same answer from the community: nobody has a date, only guesses.

This page was rewritten on 18 October 2026, during Haunted by Daylight, on live Patch 10.2.1 (released 14 October per the official Steam patch notes). It replaces our launch-week V9 guide from 10 September. Below you'll find every 2v8 window BHVR has run so far, what the October roadmap actually contains, our estimate for the return month, and the roster and rules the mode had when it left.

Quick answer. 2v8 ended on 29 September 2026 and has no announced return date. It has run 10 times since July 2024, usually about every three months, with a run every February so far. BHVR's October of Horror roadmap ends with Lights Out (Stranger Things), not 2v8. Our estimate is February 2027, with November 2026 unlikely. The last version had 16 Killers, with The Xenomorph newest and The Legion still out.

Key numbers at a glance:

  • 10 appearances since 25 July 2024, counting the one-week Summer Screams run
  • 21 days was the length of 5 of those 10 runs, including V9
  • 29 September 2026 was V9's last day, and 0 future 2v8 dates appear on any BHVR channel as of 18 October 2026
  • 16 playable Killers on the final V9 roster, up from 5 in the first version

Is DBD 2v8 live right now?

No. The Event Tracker lists V9 as 08.09.2026 to 29.09.2026 (21 days), and no 2v8 queue has opened since. The live event right now is Haunted by Daylight 2026, which runs until 3 November as a 1v4 event with the Void Portals mechanic.

If you still see old V9 artwork somewhere in the client, it doesn't mean the mode is back; there is no 2v8 queue. The 10.2.0 and 10.2.1 patch notes contain no 2v8 section at all. The last patch that touched the mode was 10.1.2 on 8 September 2026, the launch patch for V9.

When is DBD 2v8 coming back?

There is no official date. We checked the three places Behaviour announces modes: the deadbydaylight.com news index, the Steam announcements feed for app 381210, and the official wiki. None lists a future 2v8 window as of 18 October 2026.

What Behaviour has said is that the mode isn't going away. When V5 launched, its official post closed with: "That's it for this version of 2v8, and we're looking forward to another edition of this thrilling game mode." The V3 announcement put it more directly: "We know you love the collaborative chaos of 2v8, and we're always happy to revisit this beloved Game Mode with new additions and improvements." The wiki also notes the developers confirmed after the first run that it "would not be a one-off", and that it currently "occurs about once every three to four months".

What the October 2026 roadmap actually contains

Behaviour's October of Horror roadmap covers six content weeks (the wiki dates its reveal to the 1 October broadcast). In order: Hallowed Blight, the Academia Rift, Haunted by Daylight, the Diablo Collection, Day of the Dead plus November Days, and finally Lights Out (Stranger Things). The wiki lists that Lights Out run as V4 with dates still "TBA". The fan tracker DBDVault lists the returning Stranger Things Collection for 5 November, but Behaviour hasn't confirmed a date. There is no 2v8 slot anywhere in it.

After that, the next known beat is the Terrifier chapter, which Behaviour has dated only "Coming November 2026". Our Haunted by Daylight hub tracks the rest of the autumn schedule.

Our estimate: February 2027

This is our reading of the pattern, not an announcement. Every 2v8 start date so far fell in one of four windows: February, April or May, July to September, and November. February has hosted a run in both 2025 (10 February) and 2026 (10 February), and the mode has never gone more than about four months without coming back.

November is the case against waiting that long. Both previous Novembers had a 2v8 run (12 November 2024 and 6 November 2025). But in 2026, V9 ran in September, later than the August slot V5 used in 2025, the only modifier on the roadmap for early November is Lights Out, and a licensed chapter lands the same month. On balance we lean toward late January to February 2027, but treat that as a low-confidence estimate: a short-notice November run can't be ruled out. We'll update this page the day BHVR announces one.

Every DBD 2v8 run so far

Dates come from the wiki Event Tracker. Headline additions come from Behaviour's own launch article for each iteration where one exists.

Summer Screams11 to 18 Aug 20267 daysOne-week slot inside the Summer Screams event
V9 Alien8 to 29 Sep 202621 daysThe Xenomorph, Invoking Salt, Nostromo Wreckage

Two things stand out. First, the Summer Screams week ended just three weeks before V9 began. That's the shortest gap the mode has ever had, which makes a third run within three months less likely. Second, BHVR has added a Killer in most iterations but not every one. Behaviour said V8 "will not include any new Killers", so the next run may not add anyone either.

Which Killers were playable in the last 2v8?

The V9 roster had 16 Killers: Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Huntress, Spirit, Ghost Face, Oni, Deathslinger, Executioner, Blight, Nemesis, Mastermind, Xenomorph, Good Guy and Dark Lord. Expect the next run to start from this list.

The Legion is the only Killer ever added and then removed. It joined in V3 and had its 2v8 kit tweaked in V5, then it was pulled in the iteration that added The Executioner and The Dark Lord. It hasn't come back since. Until Behaviour says otherwise, don't expect it in the next run.

Two drafting rules carry over between iterations. Each Killer can only be picked by one player, and the two Killers can't share a Class. On the Survivor side, up to four players can share a Class.

The Xenomorph was the V9 addition. In 2v8, its Innate Skill destroys any turret that knocks it out of Crawler Mode, recovers Crawler Mode 25% faster outside tunnels, applies Mangled for 70 seconds on a Tail Strike, and grants 5% Haste for 3 seconds after exiting a tunnel (Patch 10.1.2 notes). For its standard 1v4 kit, see our Alien chapter guide.

How does 2v8 work? The rules to relearn before the next run

If you're coming back after a few months away, these are the rules that differ from standard Dead by Daylight, per the wiki's 2v8 page and the V9 patch notes:

Rule2v8 value
GeneratorsRepair 8 of 13, each at 70 Charges
Damaged Generator regression200% of the normal rate
Comeback scaling-5% repair speed per completed Generator, +2.5% per Cage State
Generator Aura range for Killers64 m, unlimited if 2+ Survivors are repairing
HooksReplaced by Cages of Corruption, 60 s per Cage State (120 s total)
Anti-campNeeds 15 charges, built faster the closer a Killer stays within 20 m; then the Survivor can relocate the Cage and the sacrifice pauses for 30 s
Exit Gates and Hatches3 of each, Hatches appear when 2 Survivors remain
Chests27 per map since Patch 10.1.2 (was 20)
Mending7 s on yourself, 5 s on others
Self-recoveryPossible from 70% with a charged Active Ability

Two notes on that table. The wiki's main 2v8 page still says 20 Chests per map, but the 10.1.2 patch notes raised it to 27. When the two disagree, go with the patch notes. Also, Emblems are hidden and Grade progress doesn't advance in 2v8, so if you played only 2v8 during V9, your Grade stood still.

Perks are replaced by Classes: 5 for Survivors (Escapist, Guide, Medic, Scout, Torchbearer) and 4 for Killers (Brute, Enforcer, Fearmonger, Shadow). Each Class has 3 fixed Skills, and every Killer also has an Innate Skill that acts as its 2v8 Power. In V9, Patch 10.1.2 updated the Guide Class: completing a Skill Check while a Killer is within 24 metres reveals that Killer's Aura for 5 seconds. The same patch gave every Survivor Class an Uncommon starting Item.

What should you do while 2v8 is away?

Here's what's worth doing between runs.

  • Redeem the leftover 2v8 code before it dies. PLAYXENOMORPHIN2V8 (200,000 Bloodpoints) was still listed as working on our verified DBD codes page as of 15 October. Its event is over and BHVR never published an expiry, so treat it as urgent.
  • Play Haunted by Daylight before 3 November. It's the only limited event running, and its rewards disappear when it ends.
  • Bank Bloodpoints for the next run. 2v8 has no standing Bloodpoint bonus. Behaviour has run temporary role incentives during past runs, such as a +400% Survivor Bloodpoint boost in February 2025 to ease queues, but nothing is confirmed for the next run. The normal ways to farm still apply, and our Bloodpoints cap and farming guide covers the limits.
  • Practise a Killer that's on the 2v8 roster. All 16 are in the standard game too, though their 2v8 Powers are tuned differently, and our Killer tier list for Patch 10.2.0 ranks them for the standard mode.

FAQ

When does 2v8 come back in DBD? Behaviour hasn't announced a date. The last run ended on 29 September 2026, the October roadmap ends with Lights Out rather than 2v8, and based on past runs we expect the next one around February 2027.

When did DBD 2v8 end? 2v8 (V9 - Alien) ended on 29 September 2026 after a 21-day run that started on 8 September.

Is 2v8 permanent in Dead by Daylight? No. It's a limited-time mode. The wiki says it "has the chance to become a permanent Game Mode at some point in the future", but Behaviour has made no announcement.

How many times has 2v8 been in DBD? Ten times as of October 2026: nine numbered iterations plus a one-week run in Summer Screams, from 11 to 18 August 2026.

Will The Legion come back to 2v8? There's no sign of it. The Legion is the only Killer ever removed from 2v8. It was pulled in the Konami iteration in November 2025 and hasn't returned since.

Does 2v8 count toward your Grade? No. Emblems are hidden in 2v8 and don't count toward your Grade, so playing only 2v8 leaves it where it was.
