Most Dead by Daylight Bloodpoint guides quote numbers that stopped being true in 2022. The per-match ceiling you have read is almost certainly 32,000 — it is not. And the storage cap most players believe is 2,000,000 was quietly raised to 5,000,000 without ever appearing in a patch note.
This is the economy as it works on patch 10.1.2a, live since 17 September 2026, every figure traced to a primary source. Where BHVR has published nothing, we say so.
Quick answer
- Storage cap: 5,000,000 Bloodpoints. It applies to Bloodpoints from Trials and completed Tome Challenges only.
- Login rewards, promotional codes and email codes are exempt and overflow past the cap. This is why compensation payouts of 20,000,000 exist.
- Per-Trial ceiling: 10,000 per category, four categories, so 40,000. The widely-copied 32,000 figure was replaced in Patch 6.1.0 over four years ago.
- Perks and add-ons cannot break that 40,000. They pay out mid-Trial, so they fill the same buckets. Offerings pay out after the Trial, independently of the cap — they are the only documented way past it.
- The real multiplier is Bloody Party Streamers, because its bonus applies to every player in the lobby, not just the one who burned it.
- Fastest reliable income, in order: the weekly 250,000 Free Gift, active promotional codes, the role-queue bonus, then a stacked offering lobby.
What is the Bloodpoint cap in Dead by Daylight?
The cap is 5,000,000 Bloodpoints, raised from 2,000,000. The wiki logs that change as a quality-of-life entry under Patch 8.2.0 and marks it undocumented — BHVR never announced it, which is much of why the old 2,000,000 figure persists.
The cap is also narrower than most players assume. It covers Bloodpoints earned in Trials and from completing Tome Challenges; everything else sits outside it. The wiki states the exemption verbatim:
"Bloodpoints awarded by other sources (e.g. Log-in Rewards, promotional Codes, Email Codes, etc.) are exempt from the Cap and do not count towards it, allowing for an overflow past the Cap."
That clause has a practical consequence. Near 5,000,000 with a new code out, redeem it anyway — it pushes you over the ceiling rather than being wasted. The mistake is the reverse: grinding Trials at 4.9 million throws away income, because Trial Bloodpoints are the ones that hit a wall. It also explains the 20,000,000 compensation payouts players screenshot and argue about — those arrive through an exempt channel.
How many Bloodpoints can you earn in one match?
40,000. The structure is four scoring categories with a hard 10,000 cap on each:
- Survivor: Objectives, Survival, Altruism, Boldness
- Killer: Brutality, Deviousness, Hunter, Sacrifice
When a category tops out, a sound cue plays and MAX displays on further score events in it.
What matters for anyone fact-checking older guides: the ceiling used to be 8,000 per category for 32,000 total, raised to 10,000 and 40,000 in Patch 6.1.0. That makes 32,000 four years stale, and it survives partly because the wiki's own historical section on the retired Bloodpoint-based ranking system still prints 8,000 and 32,000.
One exception matters right now: Special (Event) score events are excluded from the category cap, so event scoring does not compete with your normal 10,000 per bucket.
Why do perks not break the Bloodpoint cap?
Because of when they pay out. This is the single most useful mechanical distinction in the whole system:
- Perks and add-ons award Bloodpoints during the Trial. Their bonus lands inside a scoring category, so it counts toward that category's 10,000 and cannot exceed it.
- Offerings award Bloodpoints after the Trial, calculated independently of the category cap.
So a Killer running a Bloodpoint perk who has already maxed Deviousness gains nothing from it, while an offering burned in the same match still pays in full.
The stacking rule is also more conservative than players expect. Per the wiki: "Multiple modifiers generally stack their effects together, but only ever base their calculated bonus on the unmodified amount that was earned in a Trial." Bonuses are additive against base earnings — they do not compound.
The Bloodpoint perk purge
Most perks still recommended for farming had their Bloodpoint bonuses stripped years ago, when BHVR cut the grind. The receipts, each from the perk's own change log:
- Barbecue & Chilli — Patch 6.1.0 "removed the bonus Bloodpoints due to reducing the grind in the Dead by Daylight's Progression System by ~75 %."
- We're Gonna Live Forever — Patch 6.1.0, the perk "no longer grants Bonus Bloodpoints after the Trial concludes."
- Beast of Prey — Patch 8.5.0, "Perk no longer awards bonus Bloodpoints in the Hunter Category."
Beast of Prey deserves a warning: its rendered wiki description still advertises the removed bonus, printing 30/40/50 % in the Hunter Category, while its own change log confirms the removal. Verify perks from the change log, not the description block.
What survives:
- Distressing (Killer) still grants 100 % bonus Bloodpoints in Deviousness at every tier, set in Patch 2.6.0 with no later change-log entry removing it.
- No One Left Behind (Survivor) is listed at 50/75/100 % bonus Bloodpoints in Altruism. Its description carries a stale "upcoming Patch 6.1.0" banner, but neither the 6.1.0 nor 6.2.0 change logs strip the Bloodpoint clause.
Both are still category-capped, so their value depends entirely on whether you actually fill that bucket.
Which Bloodpoint offerings are the best?
Offerings are the real lever, and they come in three shapes.
All categories, yourself only (+100 %): Escape! Cake for Survivors, Survivor Pudding for Killers.
All categories, every player in the lobby (+100 %): Bloody Party Streamers. This is the one that matters, and the wiki is explicit: "Grants +100 % bonus Bloodpoints in all Scoring Categories to all Players. The bonus Bloodpoints are applied after exiting the Trial." Escape! Cake and Survivor Pudding carry no equivalent clause. Streamers moved from Common to Rare in Patch 1.8.2, the trade-off for making it permanent.
Smaller all-category options (+25 %): Hollow Shell, Sealed Envelope, Bound Envelope.
Single-category offerings each come at +50 %, +75 % and +100 % strengths. Survivors get Bog Laurel (Objectives), Crispleaf Amaranth (Survival), Primrose Blossom (Altruism) and Sweet William (Boldness); Killers get Tanager (Brutality), Raven (Deviousness), Spotted Owl (Hunter) and Shrike (Sacrifice).
Because Streamers buffs everyone, a coordinated lobby compounds it. Applying the wiki's additive rule, four Survivors each burning Streamers gives +400 % on the unmodified base, turning a maxed 40,000 into 200,000 Bloodpoints; a Killer also burning Survivor Pudding reaches +500 %, or 240,000. That is arithmetic from the published stacking rule, not a BHVR figure — and it assumes you genuinely max all four categories, which a short match will not.
What is the fastest way to farm Bloodpoints?
Ranked by Bloodpoints per unit of effort, the honest order is:
1. The weekly Free Gift — 250,000 Bloodpoints. Introduced in Patch 7.7.0, claimed from the in-game Store, refreshing Tuesdays at 15:00 UTC. Ten seconds of effort beats several matches. One caveat: the value has not been constant — 2024 and early 2025 rotations mixed in Rift Fragment weeks, and the wiki's 2026 archive stops in the spring. Claim it, then read what it says.
2. Promotional codes. These are cap-exempt, which makes them strictly better than Trial Bloodpoints when your balance is high. Our running list of currently valid codes is kept at Dead by Daylight codes for October 2026, with the Bloodpoint-specific ones broken out in the DBD Bloodpoint codes roundup.
3. The role-queue Bonus Bloodpoints incentive. Free, but personal to you: BHVR sets it from what the matchmaker needs in your region and MMR bracket at that moment. There is no published maximum, so ignore any guide quoting a fixed ceiling. Check the role select screen before you queue.
4. A stacked offering lobby. The highest per-match number by a wide margin, but it needs four cooperating players and Rare offerings you must first pull from Bloodwebs.
Two things that do not work
The Shrine of Secrets conversion. Buying a perk you already hold at Tier III grants 100,000 Bloodpoints for 2,000 Iridescent Shards, but only "once per Perk per Shrine rotation" — a hard weekly ceiling of 400,000. The wiki's own advisory is blunt: "This last option is not advised, as the Bloodpoints earned in the playtime it takes to regain the spent 2,000 Iridescent Shards will be far higher." The Shrine resets with the Free Gift, Tuesdays 15:00 UTC — our current Shrine of Secrets rotation tracks it.
Custom matches. Bloodpoints shown in a Kill Your Friends lobby are cosmetic — unspendable, and never added to your profile.
Two more non-starters: Bloodpoints cannot be exchanged for Auric Cells, Iridescent Shards or Rift Fragments, and no 2026 Twitch Drops campaign has awarded Bloodpoints.
Does the Haunted by Daylight event give more Bloodpoints?
Indirectly, yes — the mechanism is the category-cap exemption rather than a bigger number.
First, the timing, honestly: BHVR has published no 2026 start or end date. There is no 2026 event article in its news centre — the 2024 and 2025 editions each have one — and the newest Steam announcement is still 10.1.2a, from 17 September. Its October of Horror roadmap does place Haunted by Daylight in the third of six content weeks, so October is safe; an exact date is not. The "18 October – 6 November 2026" window on trackers is 2023's calendar recycled.
What the event does reliably change once it is live:
- Event score events are excluded from the 10,000 per-category cap, so event scoring stacks on top of a maxed Trial rather than competing with it.
- Leftover Trinkets auto-convert to Bloodpoints once the event closes, at 500 each since Twisted Masquerade 2024, up from 125 — so there is no reason to hoard them past the finish.
- Event Bloodwebs differ: the indefinite Level 50 web always spawns at least 2 Event Nodes, and Event nodes cost 2,000 Bloodpoints.
What a Halloween event does not automatically include is a multiplier. The events that genuinely multiply Bloodpoints are separately named: a Blood Hunt doubles all post-Trial gains, usually over a four-day weekend from 15:00 UTC, and a Blood Feast triples them — that has happened three times in the game's history. Both stack additively with offerings, perks and add-ons. Absent a Blood Hunt, event weeks pay normal Trial rates.
We are also not publishing per-day login-reward figures: the sets circulating contradict each other. Our Haunted by Daylight 2026 event page is updated as BHVR confirms specifics.
What do Bloodpoints actually buy?
Only Bloodweb progression — so the spend side determines how much you need.
Node costs, reduced in Patch 6.2.0 from 3,000/3,000/4,000/5,000/6,000/7,000:
- Event — 2,000
- Common — 2,000
- Uncommon — 2,500
- Rare — 3,250
- Very Rare — 4,000
- Ultra Rare — 5,000
A character's Bloodweb runs to Level 50, and the Level 50 web no longer regenerates indefinitely for free progression. As the wiki puts it: "The Level 50 Bloodweb no longer regenerates indefinitely, Players must now purchase the 'Level 51''s central Node to prestige a Character for 20,000 Bloodpoints." Prestige then runs all the way to 100.
That 20,000 is a fixed toll per prestige level — the number to plan around if you are chasing P100.
Bloodpoints are shared across platforms. BHVR's support FAQ states it directly — "Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, and Rift Fragments will be accumulated and shared across all platforms." Cross-progression has been live since 22 July 2024, so grinding on whichever platform runs best costs you nothing.
One last trap: the Public Test Build hands out 1,000,000 Bloodpoints, 12,500 Auric Cells and every character at Level 50 and Prestige 3, and none of it transfers to your live account. Patch 10.2.0 has been on PTB since 15 September 2026 with no announced live date — its changes are tracked in our 10.2.0 patch notes breakdown.
Frequently asked questions
Can you have more than 5,000,000 Bloodpoints? Yes. The cap only restricts Bloodpoints from Trials and Tome Challenges. Login rewards, promotional codes and email codes are explicitly exempt and overflow past it — which is how payouts far above 5,000,000 reach accounts.
Is the per-match Bloodpoint limit 32,000 or 40,000? 40,000, since Patch 6.1.0. The 32,000 figure comes from the retired 8,000-per-category structure, which the wiki still displays in its historical section on the old Bloodpoint-based ranking system — which is why outdated guides repeat it.
Do Bloodpoints restore lost prestige after an account rollback? No. Bloodpoints are currency, not progression: a refund has to be respent through the Bloodweb node by node to rebuild prestige and perk tiers, which is why compensation rarely feels equivalent to what was lost.
Why do Escape! Cake and Survivor Pudding feel so rare in the Bloodweb? Both are Very Rare offerings competing with everything else in a randomised node pool, so you cannot target them. Bloody Party Streamers is only Rare — more realistic to stock, and it buffs the whole lobby.
Does 2v8 award more Bloodpoints per match? BHVR has published no Bloodpoint rate for 2v8, so any guide claiming it pays more is guessing. The category structure is the only documented constraint.
How many Bloodpoints is an average match worth? BHVR has never published an average per-Trial figure. Any guide converting a code's value into a number of matches saved has invented the rate.
When does the weekly Free Gift reset? Tuesdays at 15:00 UTC, at the same time as the Shrine of Secrets rotation.
The short version
The economy rewards two behaviours and punishes one. Claim the weekly 250,000 and every valid code, because both are cap-exempt and effectively free. Burn Bloody Party Streamers over Escape! Cake for a lobby-wide multiplier that lands outside the 40,000 ceiling. And stop grinding Trials near 5,000,000 — Trial income is the only kind the cap can destroy.
