The newest Dead by Daylight patch is 10.2.2, a bugfix patch Behaviour Interactive published on 20 October 2026 at 15:01 UTC (BHVR forum KB 562, mirrored on Steam). It is small, but it carries one real balance change, one first-party event date and a fix list that tells you a lot about what is coming in November.
This page is our running Dead by Daylight patch notes hub. Every time BHVR ships a patch we update it in place, so the version at the top is always the current one.
Quick answer (10.2.2, 20 Oct 2026): Dark Arrogance now shortens every basic-attack cooldown by a flat 10%, whether you miss, get obstructed or land the hit. Before this patch it was 15/20/25% on missed and obstructed attacks only.
- Lights Out: Stranger Things Edition runs from 5 November to 12 November 2026, confirmed by BHVR.
- 22 bug-fix lines ship across audio, characters, maps, UI, Haunted by Daylight and Lights Out.
- Not in this patch: the promised 2B outfit adjustment, any Grim Pantry return, and any other perk change.

What changed in DBD patch 10.2.2?
Here is the whole patch at a glance. Everything below is taken from BHVR's own notes; nothing is inferred.
| Area | Change in 10.2.2 | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Killer perk | Dark Arrogance basic-attack cooldown: 10% shorter on all outcomes | Reverses the missed-only design that went live in 10.2.0 |
| Event | Lights Out: Stranger Things Edition, 5 to 12 November | First BHVR-published date for the next event |
| Audio | 4 fixes | Missing flesh-hit sound on several Killers |
| Characters | 3 fixes | Includes an A2 hair fix from the NieR Collection |
| Maps | 5 fixes | Nostromo Wreckage, Pale Rose, Treatment Theatre, Badham Preschool, a map-generation crash |
| UI and misc | 2 fixes | Matchmaking timer and a loading crash |
| Haunted by Daylight | 1 fix | Void Haunts passing through breakable walls |
| Lights Out | 7 fixes | Patched before the event even starts |
That is 22 bug-fix lines (the Dark Lord lullaby fix is listed twice, once under Audio and once under Lights Out) plus one perk change and one event announcement. There is no new Killer, no new Survivor, no map rework and no other balance change.
How did Dark Arrogance change in 10.2.2?
Dark Arrogance is The Lich's teachable perk, and it has now changed three times in five weeks. BHVR's 10.2.2 text reads:
- You basic-vault Windows 15/20/25% faster.
- Your basic-attack cooldown is 10% shorter. (was only missed, and 15/20/25%)
- Whenever you are blinded or Pallet-stunned, the duration is 25% longer.
The dev note is blunt. In BHVR's words: "The team has heard the feedback that the PTB to Live change for Dark Arrogance was an overcorrection. The basic-attack cooldown will apply to all outcomes (missed, obstructed, successful), at a smaller reduction percentage." It adds that the team "will continue monitoring to see if further adjustments are needed in a future update."
The full Dark Arrogance history in one table
| Version | Vault speed | Basic-attack cooldown | Blind and Pallet-stun penalty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before 10.2.0 | 15/20/25% faster | None | 15% longer (per BHVR's 10.2.0 PTB notes) |
| 10.2.0 PTB (15 Sep) | 15/20/25% faster | Recovery 15/20/25% faster on every attack | 25% longer |
| 10.2.0 live (6 Oct) | 15/20/25% faster | Missed and obstructed attacks only, 15/20/25% shorter | 25% longer |
| 10.2.2 (20 Oct) | 15/20/25% faster | All outcomes, flat 10% shorter | 25% longer |
Sources: 10.2.0 PTB notes, KB 559, 10.2.0 live notes, KB 560, 10.2.2 notes, KB 562.
The PTB version was pulled for a stated reason. When 10.2.0 went live, BHVR wrote that "Stacking successful basic-attack recovery led to very short chases on the PTB." So 10.2.2 brings hits back into the perk, but at well under half of the PTB's Tier III value.
Is it a buff or a nerf?
Both, depending on what you were using it for.
- On a successful hit: buff. It went from nothing to 10% shorter.
- On a missed or obstructed swing: nerf at every tier. Tier III drops from 25% to 10%, Tier I from 15% to 10%.
- Tiers no longer matter for the cooldown. The 10% is flat. Only the vault bonus still scales, so a Tier I copy now gives you the same cooldown as a Tier III one.
The downside never moved: every blind and every Pallet stun still lasts 25% longer.
How does it compare with Unrelenting?
This is the comparison players keep making, and the numbers back them up. Since 10.2.0, Unrelenting cuts missed basic-attack cooldown by 30/35/40%, cuts successful basic-attack cooldown by 10%, and also covers obstructed attacks (KB 560). Its dev note explains why the hit bonus came back at all: "Diminishing Returns allows us to return the long-since-removed successful basic-attack cooldown."
| Perk | On a hit | On a miss | Extra upside | Downside |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dark Arrogance (10.2.2) | 10% shorter | 10% shorter | Vaults 15/20/25% faster | Blinds and stuns 25% longer |
| Unrelenting (10.2.0) | 10% shorter | 30/35/40% shorter | None | None |
On paper, Unrelenting matches Dark Arrogance on hits, beats it on misses and has no penalty. What Dark Arrogance still has is the window-vault speed. The player reaction in the r/DeadByDaylightKillers 10.2.2 thread was mostly cool: one player said the 10.2.0 version had "one or two solid use cases (very nice on Xeno, perhaps dredge or singu)" and that 10.2.2 turned it into "just like, worse unrelenting." Another wrote that "10% is definitely not going to help you that much."
BHVR's notes do not say exactly how the two perks combine if you run both, so treat any stacked number you see online as unconfirmed.
One practical warning: some perk databases had not caught up when we checked on 21 October and still showed the old "missed basic-attack cooldown" wording. The in-game and BHVR text above is the current one.
For the full context of the 58-perk pass this sits inside, see our DBD perk changes 10.2.0 breakdown and the 10.2.0 PTB to live changes. The Unrelenting rework is covered in detail in our Unrelenting, Fire Up and Distressing guide.
When is Lights Out: Stranger Things Edition?
BHVR's 10.2.2 notes contain the first first-party date for the next event: "Event will run from November 5th - November 12th. Check out the available quests for rewards!" That is 5 to 12 November 2026. BHVR did not print a start hour in the notes, so we are not giving one.
Until this patch, the only 5 November date in circulation came from a fan tracker's Stranger Things Collection listing. It is now confirmed by BHVR itself.
What is Lights Out?
Lights Out is a limited-time Modifier. BHVR introduced it in February 2024 as its first official Modifier, and its launch article describes the core idea plainly: the Map is "shrouded in darkness", and "you'll also be going into The Trial without Perks." That is the reason it lands so well with stealth Killers and so badly with Survivors who rely on information.
The 10.2.2 fix list tells you more about this edition than any announcement has so far. BHVR fixed Survivors clipping through Generators when placing Lanterns, Lantern effects lingering after locker exits, and Uncommon and Common items appearing in Chests. It also fixed Treatment Theatre spawning only 10 Chests. Lanterns and Chests are clearly part of the mode.
Why Stranger Things?
Stranger Things came back to Dead by Daylight with its second Chapter on 27 January 2026, adding Vecna (The First), Dustin and Eleven, per BHVR's own news post. A Stranger Things-branded Lights Out is the natural tie-in. BHVR has not published the full reward list in the patch notes beyond "available quests for rewards", so check the in-game event tab when it opens rather than trusting reward lists that appear before 5 November. Our Stranger Things chapters and perks guide covers the licensed characters themselves.
Every bug fix in 10.2.2
Below is every fix, grouped the way BHVR grouped them (we merged its separate UI and Misc headings). We have kept BHVR's wording close and only added context where a fix needs it.
Audio (4 fixes)
- The flesh-hit sound was missing for Survivors hit by a basic attack from several Killers, including The Nemesis, The Cenobite, The Onryō and The Dark Lord.
- The Dark Lord's lullaby could still be heard in Bat form during a Lights Out Trial.
- The Krasue's intestinal whip sound was missing when opening Portals or using the teleport interaction in Head form during Haunted by Daylight 2026.
- The locker-grab stinger played when grabbing a vaulting Survivor for certain Killers, including The Singularity, The Good Guy, The Unknown, The Houndmaster, The Krasue, The Slasher and The Judgment.
The missing flesh-hit sound is the one Survivors will actually notice. Without it, it is harder to tell instantly that a teammate just took a hit.
Characters (3 fixes)
- Mikaela's hands clipped through the dress of an outfit (BHVR's notes leave the outfit name blank).
- A2's hair appeared bent while screaming.
- A gap could appear between The Houndmaster's dog, Snug, and the grabbed Survivor.
The A2 line matters because of what is missing next to it. More on that below.
Maps (5 fixes)
- Nostromo Wreckage: projectiles were blocked by invisible collision around the meeting table.
- Pale Rose: players could not interact with one side of a Generator.
- Treatment Theatre: a door frame was offset.
- Badham Preschool: some bushes had no collision.
- A rare crash during map generation.
The Pale Rose Generator fix is the one most likely to have affected real matches.
UI and miscellaneous (2 fixes)
- The matchmaking queue timer could start early and keep running after queueing stopped.
- The game could crash while loading on some platforms.
Haunted by Daylight (1 fix)
- Void Haunts could pass through breakable walls.
If you are still grinding the event, our Haunted by Daylight 2026 rewards guide and Void Energy and portals guide cover how the event works.
Lights Out (7 fixes)
- The Dark Lord's lullaby could be heard in Bat form.
- Uncommon and Common items could be found in Chests.
- Lantern visual effects lingered when entering and exiting a locker quickly.
- Survivors clipped through Generators when placing Lanterns.
- Only 10 Chests spawned on Treatment Theatre.
- Survivors held the Lantern incorrectly while injured.
- The Lantern was held the wrong way while opening an Exit Gate.
What did 10.2.2 not fix?
Three things players were waiting for are not in these notes.
The 2B outfit adjustment. On 9 October, BHVR community manager Mandy wrote on the official forum: "For 2B we will be making some adjustments to this Legendary for Feng Min to bring it closer to the original appearance of the character - I don't have an ETA but I would expect some updates in the 2nd bugfix patch (but don't quote me on that last part!)." 10.2.2 is the second bugfix patch after 10.2.0, and there is no 2B line in it. The only NieR fix is the A2 hair one. A thread titled "When will the 2B skin rework come?" was already up on r/deadbydaylight within a day. Our NieR:Automata collection guide tracks it.
Grim Pantry. BHVR said on 16 October that it was disabling the Grim Pantry map and that it would be re-enabled within a future patch. The 10.2.2 notes do not mention it, so do not assume it is back.
The spectate bug. One of the first comments in the r/DeadByDaylightKillers 10.2.2 thread: "Feels like they forgot about the 'console players get stuck in spectate mode and can't back out of it' bug." It is not in the fix list.
DBD 10.2 patch timeline
| Patch | Date | What it was |
|---|---|---|
| 10.2.0 PTB | 15 Sep 2026 | 58-perk pass on the test server |
| 10.2.0 Mid-Chapter | 6 Oct 2026 | Perk pass live, Survivor Intent System, Surrender and End Trial |
| 10.2.1 Bugfix | 14 Oct 2026 | Surrender and End Trial condition changes; Virulent Bound redirection, during Haunted by Daylight (began 13 Oct) |
| 10.2.2 Bugfix | 20 Oct 2026 | Dark Arrogance, Lights Out dates, 22 fixes |
Dates are from BHVR's patch-notes articles (KB 559 to 562). The 10.2.1 notes changed the End Trial rule so a Killer gets the option once all remaining Survivors are bots, with the Dying State condition removed. We explain that system in our surrender and End Trial guide.
What is the next DBD patch?
BHVR's official Terrifier title card says only "Coming November 2026". Leak accounts and some outlets have floated a PTB on 27 October and a 17 November release, but BHVR has not confirmed either date, so treat both as estimates. When the next patch notes land, this page gets updated first.

FAQ
What is the latest DBD patch? The latest Dead by Daylight patch is 10.2.2, a bugfix patch BHVR published on 20 October 2026. It changes Dark Arrogance, confirms Lights Out: Stranger Things Edition for 5 to 12 November, and ships 22 bug fixes.
What does Dark Arrogance do now? After 10.2.2 it makes you vault Windows 15/20/25% faster and shortens every basic-attack cooldown by a flat 10%, on misses, obstructed swings and hits alike. In exchange, blinds and Pallet stuns last 25% longer.
Was Dark Arrogance buffed or nerfed in 10.2.2? Both. Hits gained a 10% shorter cooldown they did not have in 10.2.0, but missed swings lost value at every tier, from 15/20/25% down to a flat 10%. BHVR called the 10.2.0 live version an overcorrection.
When does Lights Out: Stranger Things Edition start? BHVR's 10.2.2 notes say the event runs from 5 November to 12 November 2026. No start time was printed in the notes.
Did 10.2.2 fix the 2B skin? No. A BHVR community manager wrote that 2B adjustments could be expected in the second bugfix patch, with a "don't quote me on that" caveat, and 10.2.2 contains no 2B change. It only fixes A2's hair bending while screaming.
Where can I read the official Dead by Daylight patch notes? BHVR posts them in the Patch Notes section of its official forum knowledge base and on the game's Steam news page. 10.2.2 is KB article 562.
Last checked against BHVR's 10.2.2 patch notes (KB 562 and Steam) on 21 October 2026. Patch-specific values apply to Dead by Daylight 10.2.2 and will change with the next patch.
