How to Craft Ring of Starless Skies in Diablo 4 Season 15 (Horadric Cube Guide)

Quick answer: You cannot roll the Ring of Starless Skies from scratch at a workbench. In Season 15 (Season of Hell's Legacy, patch 3.2.1) the deterministic path is the Horadric Cube's Upgrade to Mythic recipe: take the regular (non-Mythic) Unique version of the ring that drops this season, slot it in the Cube with 5 Resplendent Sparks, and it becomes the Mythic Ring of Starless Skies while keeping its affixes, Tempering, and Masterwork. The other path is the Jeweler's ring-slot Mythic recipe (3 Resplendent Spark + 3 Tam + 3 Mot + 3 Yax + 5,000,000 gold), which returns a random ring-slot Mythic — not Starless Skies specifically. The whole bottleneck is Spark supply, so this guide is really a Spark-farming guide with a crafting step on the end.

Below: exactly what the ring does, the two crafting routes with full costs, the fastest ways to bank Resplendent Sparks in S15, and the mistakes that waste a 5-Spark upgrade.

What is the Ring of Starless Skies in Diablo 4?

The Ring of Starless Skies is one of Diablo 4's most build-defining Mythic Uniques — a near-universal damage and resource ring that fits almost every class. At Item Power 800 it carries:

  • Unique effect: "Spending your Primary Resource reduces the Resource cost of your Skills" and increases your damage by 10%[x] for 3 seconds, up to 50%[x].
  • +12.5% Resistance to All Elements
  • +17.5% Attack Speed
  • +12.5% Critical Strike Chance
  • +12.5% Lucky Hit Chance
  • +1–2 to Core Skills
  • Requires Level 35; always drops at Item Power 800.

Per the in-game tooltip, the ring's unique power reads: "Spending your Primary Resource reduces the Resource cost of your Skills" and "increases your damage by 10%[x] for 3 seconds, up to 50%[x]." The stacking 50%[x] multiplier plus flat resource-cost reduction is why it sits in so many endgame builds: it fixes resource starvation and adds a separate damage bucket at the same time. That is also why nobody wants to leave it to a 1.5% boss roll.

Can you actually "craft" Ring of Starless Skies in Season 15?

Here is the nuance every thin guide gets wrong. There is no recipe that lets you pick "Ring of Starless Skies" from a menu and build it out of raw materials. Mythic Uniques in Diablo 4 are not forged from scratch. What Season 15 gives you are two different mechanics people both call "crafting":

  • Upgrade an item you already own into its Mythic form (Horadric Cube → Upgrade to Mythic). This is deterministic — the output is exactly the item you put in, now Mythic.
  • Gamble a random Mythic for a chosen slot (Jeweler ring recipe). This is targeted by slot only — you'll get some ring-slot Mythic, which might be Starless Skies or might be a different ring.

Season 15 added the twist that makes route 1 possible: the iconic Mythics are now also available as regular Uniques, so a non-Mythic Ring of Starless Skies can drop as a normal Unique. That regular copy is your crafting material. So the honest answer to "how do I craft Ring of Starless Skies" is: get the regular Unique version to drop first, then use the Cube to upgrade that exact ring into its Mythic form. If you don't have a base copy yet, you're gambling the slot or farming bosses.

Route 1 — Horadric Cube "Upgrade to Mythic" (the deterministic one)

This is the path you want if a regular (non-Mythic) Ring of Starless Skies, or any Unique you intend to turn Mythic, is already in your stash.

Diablo 4 Horadric Cube Upgrade to Mythic recipe showing Resplendent Spark cost in Season 15

Recipe: Open the Horadric Cube and choose Upgrade to Mythic. Slot the regular Unique plus 5 Resplendent Sparks. The result keeps the item's original affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking — it's a 1:1 transfer into the Mythic version of that exact item. (It won't work on an Unmodifiable item.)

The catch — the "Crafted" tag: A Mythic made through the Horadric Cube is marked Crafted, and you can only equip one Crafted item at a time. If your build wants two crafted Mythics, you're blocked. The community found a workaround — a 3-to-1 salvage process strips the Crafted tag — but it costs 15 Resplendent Sparks total, so treat it as a late-season luxury, not a plan.

Rule of thumb: use the Cube upgrade on the single most build-critical Mythic (for most builds, that's this ring), and let the rest come from drops or the gamble recipe so you don't eat the one-Crafted-equipped limit.

Route 2 — The Jeweler ring recipe (the gamble)

No base ring, but you've got Sparks to burn? The Jeweler's Mythic ring recipe lets you pick the ring slot and roll a random class-usable ring-slot Mythic. Per Maxroll's current crafting sheet the ring recipe is:

  • 3× Resplendent Spark
  • 3× Tam, 3× Mot, 3× Yax
  • 5,000,000 Gold

You are not guaranteed Starless Skies — you get a random ring-slot Mythic from the pool. It's cheaper per attempt on Sparks than the Cube upgrade (3 vs 5), but it's a slot gamble, not a target. Use it when you have no base ring and want to spin for one.

How to farm Resplendent Sparks fast in Season 15

Diablo 4 Resplendent Spark mythic crafting material tooltip in Season 15

Both routes live and die on Resplendent Sparks, and S15 reworked how you get them. Corrupted Reaper Fragments and Pandemonium Fragments were retired as direct crafting materials — Sparks are now the core Mythic currency. Fastest current sources:

SourceHow it worksNotes
Salvage duplicate MythicsBreak down unwanted/duplicate Mythic Uniques for SparksThe steadiest drip once you're farming Torment bosses
Pandemonium Fragment conversionConvert leftover fragments at 7 Fragments → 1 SparkRetired as a crafting mat, but still redeemable for Sparks
Mephisto Splinter of Hatred — Whisper cachesAt Rank 22 on the Splinter of Hatred path, Spark drops can give 2 instead of 1Best passive multiplier this season — prioritize this reputation track
Butcher / War Plan farmingStack War Plans on Nightmare Dungeons (Night Terrors, Meat Brothers, Nemesis, Gauntlet) to spike elite + Butcher densityRaises Mythic drop volume, which feeds salvage Sparks
Season progression rewardsOne-time Spark payouts from the Season JourneyBank these for your first guaranteed upgrade

Practically: push Torment I+ bosses for Mythic drops (you need Torment I minimum for any Mythic to drop), funnel duplicates into salvage, and grind the Rank 22 Mephisto reputation so every Spark drop pays double. Five Sparks for one guaranteed upgrade is very reachable in the first week if you focus the Mephisto track.

Is Ring of Starless Skies worth 5 Sparks this season?

For most resource-hungry builds, yes — it's one of the few Mythics that helps nearly every class, which is why it's such a common first-upgrade target. The flat resource-cost reduction matters most to builds that spam a Primary/Core skill or burn resource fast, and the stacking damage multiplier is build-agnostic. In the Season 15 DoT-heavy meta — Warlock, Spiritborn, Barbarian Whirlwind, Rogue, Necromancer and Sorcerer all running strong — the ring slots cleanly into resource-reliant setups without forcing a rebuild around it.

The one thing to weigh before you commit the Cube upgrade: the Crafted tag. If your endgame build also wants a second crafted Mythic, remember you can only equip one Crafted item at a time. For most players the ring is the right item to spend the deterministic upgrade on, and you let any second Mythic come from a drop or the Jeweler gamble (those are tag-free). Keep it directional — don't build your whole season around a single ring before you've seen your class's live S15 tuning.

Where does Ring of Starless Skies drop if you'd rather farm it?

If you want the base ring to drop so you can Cube-upgrade it (or just want it raw), it's in the general Mythic Unique pool:

  • Drops from any boss encounter at Torment I or higher.
  • Bosses roll 5 separate Mythic chances at ~1.5% each.
  • Tormented / Lair bosses give the best odds and are the standard farm — Duriel, Andariel, and Harbinger of Hatred are the usual high-value targets for Mythic hunting.
  • It always lands at Item Power 800 and can drop for any class.

There are no bosses that guarantee Ring of Starless Skies specifically — it's a pool drop, which is exactly why the Cube-upgrade path matters once a copy finally shows up.

The fastest realistic plan

  • Farm Torment I+ Lair/Tormented bosses and run the Mephisto Splinter of Hatred track to Rank 22 so Sparks drop in pairs.
  • Salvage duplicate Mythics and convert any leftover Pandemonium Fragments (7 → 1) to top up Sparks.
  • The moment a regular (non-Mythic) Ring of Starless Skies drops, stop — don't salvage it.
  • Bank 5 Resplendent Sparks and run the Horadric Cube → Upgrade to Mythic on that exact ring. Done, deterministically.
  • Only chase the Jeweler ring gamble if no base ring has dropped and you're sitting on spare Sparks.

If the grind isn't your thing, Timesaver's Diablo 4 boss carries and power leveling put you on Torment-tier bosses fast — more boss kills means more Mythic rolls and more salvage Sparks toward your upgrade.

FAQ

Can you directly craft Ring of Starless Skies from scratch in Season 15? No. Mythic Uniques aren't forged from raw mats. You either upgrade a dropped regular (non-Mythic) copy to Mythic in the Horadric Cube (5 Resplendent Sparks, deterministic), or gamble the ring slot at the Jeweler for a random ring-slot Mythic. There is no "select this exact ring from a menu" recipe.

How many Resplendent Sparks does the Cube upgrade cost? Five Resplendent Sparks for the Horadric Cube "Upgrade to Mythic" recipe. The upgraded item keeps its affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking, but it's tagged Crafted — only one Crafted item can be equipped at a time.

What does the Jeweler ring recipe cost and does it guarantee Starless Skies? Per the current crafting sheet it's 3 Resplendent Spark, 3 Tam, 3 Mot, 3 Yax, and 5,000,000 gold. It returns a random ring-slot Mythic — it does not guarantee Ring of Starless Skies.

What does Ring of Starless Skies do? Spending your Primary Resource reduces your Skills' Resource cost and increases your damage by 10%[x] for 3 seconds, stacking up to 50%[x]. It also rolls Attack Speed, Crit Chance, Lucky Hit Chance, All-Element Resistance, and +1–2 Core Skills at Item Power 800.

What's the fastest way to farm Resplendent Sparks in S15? Push Torment I+ Lair bosses for Mythic drops, salvage duplicates into Sparks, convert Pandemonium Fragments at 7→1, and grind the Mephisto Splinter of Hatred track to Rank 22 so Spark drops come in pairs.

Can I remove the Crafted tag so I can equip two crafted Mythics? The community found a 3-to-1 salvage process that strips the Crafted tag, but it costs 15 Resplendent Sparks total. It's a late-season luxury, not a first-upgrade plan.
