FC 27 Max 87 Hero SBC: Worth 115,000? All 61 Heroes Priced (3 Jackpots, 22 Duds)

FC 27 Max 87 Base Hero Upgrade SBC jackpot cards Jaap Stam 87 CB, Blaise Matuidi 86 CDM and Ramires 86 CDM

The FC 27 Max 87 Base Hero Upgrade went live on 19 October 2026 and asks for 115,000 Item Score: 35% more than the Max 86 version from 7 October, but with a pool that has grown from 36 heroes to 61. We priced all 61 against live PlayStation market data from the evening of 19 October. The short version is that the roll looks better on paper than the Max 86 did. There is one large catch, though: the hero you get is untradeable.

Quick answer (TLDR): The FC 27 Max 87 Hero SBC costs about 97,000–121,000 coins in fresh 84-rated fodder on PS/Xbox (around 133,000 on PC). It gives one untradeable Base Hero rated 85–87 from a 61-player pool: 8 at 85, 28 at 86, 25 at 87. On live PS prices the median pull is worth 143,000 coins and 34 of 61 (56%) are worth more than the 120,930-coin solution. Three are jackpots worth over 1 million (Matuidi 2.25M, Ramires 1.45M, Stam 1.29M), and 22 are worth less than even the cheapest fodder bill. Because you can't sell the reward, that value only counts if you would actually play the hero. Do it with spare club fodder or if you'd start a Hero anyway. Don't buy fodder for it as a coin-making play. The SBC expires Sunday 25 October 2026, 18:00 UTC.

What Is the FC 27 Max 87 Base Hero Upgrade SBC?

It's a score-based Upgrade SBC. EA's Help pages call these Simplified SBCs, and the trackers call them Streamlined. The in-game description reads: "Earn a pack containing 1 Base Hero Player Item, rated 87 or lower." There's no squad to build. You keep submitting any player rated 45 or above until the combined Item Score reaches 115,000. EA's Help article describes the system as SBCs that "use Item Score instead of requiring you to build a Squad" (help.ea.com). Duplicates count, and progress saves between sessions. One catch from the same EA page: "If an SBC expires after you've made partial progress, you might get a reduced untradeable reward based on the progress you made before the Challenge expired. The Player Items you've already submitted aren't returned to your Club."

The 61-player list is Destructoid's published pool. It names a single 85-rated "Scott", which we took to be Alex Scott (85 RB). FUT.GG's database also has Jill Scott (85 CM, ~131,000) as a Base Hero. If she is in the pool too, it becomes 62 heroes with a median of 142,500 and 35 of 62 above the solution cost, so the verdict doesn't change. Two tracker details disagree, so here are both. FUT.GG's SBC feed lists the set as repeatable with one repeat on a 3-day refresh, while FUT Mind's FAQ says it's limited to one completion per account. One r/fut player, u/Gear_Room, posted on day one: "2 base hero upgrade done 2 Bierhoff's, Nice!" That supports the repeat, and it also shows how a bad roll goes, because Bierhoff is the cheapest hero in the whole pool. Check the completion counter on your own tile before you plan a second run.

How Much Does the FC 27 Max 87 Hero SBC Actually Cost?

The cost depends on which fodder you use. In the Streamlined system a common 84 scores 830, an 85 scores 2,100, an 86 scores 4,100 and an 87 scores 5,500 (FUT.GG solver data, 19 October). The 84 is still the cheapest Item Score per coin, which matches our FC 27 Item Score table.

Quickest131× 90 + 1× 89 + 11× 88~325,725FUT.GG

Both trackers use the same 139× 84 route. The only difference is the 84 price they assume, ~700 against ~870, which adds up to more than 23,000 coins over 139 cards. 84s move by a few hundred coins within a day, so if you're buying fodder, bid below the lowest listing rather than buying the first card you see.

Club fodder changes the maths more than anything else. EA's own beginner guide says "putting a Player Item in an SBC is just like selling it" (ea.com, FUT for Beginners). So the real cost is what those cards would have sold for, not zero. For untradeable 83–85s that can't be sold at all, the cost is close to nothing.

Is the FC 27 Max 87 Hero SBC Worth It? The Expected-Value Maths

We pulled the live PlayStation price of every Base Hero in the pool from FUT Mind's player database, last updated between 16:15 and 22:45 UTC on 19 October. EA doesn't publish per-player weights for this pack, so the figures below assume every hero is equally likely.

MetricValue
Mean pull value (PS)288,639 coins
Mean of the other 58 (no jackpots)217,534 coins
Median pull value (PS)143,000 coins
Chance of an 8725 of 61 (41%)
Pulls worth more than 120,93034 of 61 (56%)
Pulls worth more than 97,30039 of 61 (64%)
Pulls worth 500,000+10 of 61 (16%)
Pulls worth 1,000,000+3 of 61 (5%)
Pulls worth under 100,00024 of 61 (39%)

On those numbers the roll is positive: the median pull beats even the higher fodder estimate. It's also a much better pool than the Max 86. Adding 25 87-rated heroes lifted the pool, and the 87 tier alone has a median of 310,000 coins, against 115,500 for the 86s and 86,000 for the 85s.

The catch is what "value" means here. These are replacement values: the price you would pay for that hero on the transfer market. The SBC version is untradeable, so you can't turn a 1.29M Stam into coins. FUT Mind's average pack value is much lower at 74,550 coins, which is far below the cost of completion. It doesn't publish its method or say which platform the figure is for, so treat that number and ours as the two ends of a range.

Destructoid's verdict is blunt: "Several cards in the pool of rewards are valued less than the fodder cost of completing the challenge. You should only attempt this one if you have surplus fodder in your Ultimate Team club."

Do it if: you have untradeable 83–86s doing nothing, or you would genuinely start an 85–87 Hero. Centre-backs and defensive midfielders make up about half (49%) of the pool's total market value.

Skip it if: you want coins. A dud can't be sold, and you'd have to buy the hero you wanted on the market anyway.

Want one specific hero? Every hero in the pool has a live market price, which means the pack versions trade. If you have your eye on Zola or Hamšík, buying the card directly avoids a 39% chance of an under-100k dud.

There's a clear pattern here: strikers and goalkeepers are the dud tier. Ten of the 22 duds are STs and three are GKs, which accounts for 13 of 22. Only 5 of the 34 heroes worth more than the solution are strikers. The defensive spine is where the value sits: all five CDMs above the line (Matuidi, Ramires, De Rossi, Gilberto Silva, Cambiasso) and five of the six centre-backs. Carragher is the only CB below it.

Does a Base Hero Still Fix Your Chemistry in FC 27?

Less than it used to. EA cut the Hero league link in the FC 27 Launch Update Pitch Notes: "Heroes will also continue to receive full Chemistry when played in position, while their League contribution is being reduced from +2 to +1. Their +1 Nation contribution remains unchanged." A pulled Hero still gets full chemistry in position, but it no longer lifts a whole league the way it did in FC 26. The full link maths is in our FC 27 chemistry guide.

How Do You Complete It for the Lowest Real Cost?

  • Use club fodder first. Untradeable 83–86s and duplicates are close to free Item Score. Submit them before you buy anything, since partial progress saves.
  • Bid on 84s rather than buying now. Across 139 cards, saving 170 coins per card comes to more than 23,000 coins.
  • Don't overshoot. Submissions are final, and EA only shows a warning if you "greatly exceed" the requirement. Bulk up with 84s and finish the last few hundred points with a low-rated card.
  • Don't feed tradeable 87s into it unless you're short on cards. The 19× 87 route only exists to cut the card count, and each 87 is a card you could sell.
  • Finish before Sunday 25 October, 18:00 UTC. That is the earlier of the two listed expiry times, and a half-finished SBC only pays a reduced partial reward, and Season 2 opens on 22 October in the same window (see our Season 2 reset guide).

If you're short on the coins to cover the fodder, the Web App coin methods we ranked can cover it without playing matches. For comparison, here's how the Max 86 Hero SBC broke down.

FAQ

Is the FC 27 Max 87 Hero SBC worth it? As a roll, yes: on live PS prices from 19 October, the median pull in the 61-hero pool is worth 143,000 coins, and 56% of pulls are worth more than the 120,930-coin solution. The reward is untradeable, though, so that value only counts if you'd use the hero. Do it with spare club fodder. Don't buy fodder for it to make coins.

How much does the Max 87 Base Hero Upgrade cost? It needs 115,000 Item Score. The cheapest route is 139 common 84-rated players. That's about 97,300 coins by FUT Mind's estimate or 120,930 by FUT.GG's on PS/Xbox, and around 133,000 on PC.

Who can you get from the FC 27 87 Hero SBC? One of 61 Base Heroes: 8 rated 85, 28 rated 86 and 25 rated 87. The most valuable are Matuidi (86 CDM, ~2.25M), Ramires (86 CDM, ~1.45M) and Jaap Stam (87 CB, ~1.29M). The cheapest is Oliver Bierhoff (86 ST, ~42,000).

Is the Max 87 Hero SBC repeatable? The trackers disagree. FUT.GG lists one repeat on a 3-day refresh, while FUT Mind says one completion per account. A r/fut player reported completing it twice on day one. Check the counter on your tile in-game.

When does the FC 27 Max 87 Hero SBC expire? Sunday 25 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC according to FUT.GG's feed (FUT Mind lists 19:00 UTC). Plan around the earlier time.

Can I sell the hero from the Max 87 Hero SBC? No. The Max. 87 Base Hero Pack is untradeable, so a dud can't be sold to recover the fodder cost. That's the main reason to avoid buying fodder for it.
