FC 27 Zoomaestro Evo: Best Players, Rapid Catch and the Free 85 Chain

FC 27's newest free Evolution adds 7 OVR, about 10 pace and up to three PlayStyles to a midfielder in five matches, but a third of eligible cards never see Rapid. EA SPORTS FC 27 released Zoomaestro on Sunday 18 October at 17:00 UTC. It's a standard (match-based) Evolution for CAMs and CMs rated 80 or lower, it costs 0 coins and 0 FC Points, and it caps at 83 OVR.

We pulled fut.gg's full eligible and evolved player lists (the 5,309 base and TOTW player items listed on 18 October, snapshot taken 18 October around 22:50 UTC) to see what the Evo really does to every card. Two things the requirement screen doesn't tell you came out of it: which cards actually get the Rapid PlayStyle, and which ones can go on to 85 OVR for free through Centre Stage.

TLDR: FC 27 Zoomaestro in 30 seconds. Free Evo for a CAM or CM, max 80 OVR, Pace 75 or lower, Defending 74 or lower, max 4★ skills, max 7 PlayStyles. 3 levels: play 2, play 2, win 1 (Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or higher counts). You get +7 OVR (cap 83), +10 Acceleration and Sprint Speed (cap 83), +10 Dribbling, Ball Control and Short Passing, +1★ skills (cap 4★) and First Touch, Technical and Rapid, but each PlayStyle only lands while the card has fewer than 3, so cards that already have 1 or 2 PlayStyles usually miss Rapid. Start by Wednesday 28 October, 18:00 UTC. Best 83s: Callum McGregor, Javi Guerra, Hidemasa Morita, Aleix Febas, Patrick Berg. Best value: run a 68–74 rated CM/CDM through Zoomaestro, then Centre Stage (start by 25 October) for 85 OVR.

What is the FC 27 Zoomaestro Evolution?

Zoomaestro is a free, three-level Evolution aimed at slow, technical playmakers. EA's in-game description, as fut.gg and FUTBIN both reproduce it, reads: "Your playmaker always had the vision, now they get the legs. Boost pace and dribbling on your CAM or CM and glide past defenders in a blink." (fut.gg, Zoomaestro)

That's an accurate pitch. Pace and Dribbling are where the stats go. Defending isn't touched at all, and Shooting and Physical barely move. EA doesn't publish a page for weekly Evolutions, so every number below comes from the in-game data as captured by fut.gg, cross-checked against FUTBIN.

What are the Zoomaestro requirements?

RequirementValue

DefendingMax 74

PlayStylesMax 7
Cost0 coins, 0 FC Points

Finish byWed 4 Nov 2026, 18:00 UTC

The position check reads every position on the card, not just the main one. That's why a CDM like Callum McGregor (alternate CM) and even strikers like Christopher Nkunku (alternate CAM) and Sven Mijnans (alternate CM) show up in the eligible list. Of the 5,309 eligible cards, only 857 are main-position CAMs. If a card you expected is missing, our FC 27 "player not eligible" guide covers every hidden trap.

What does Zoomaestro upgrade at each level?

Numbers in brackets are caps: the most that stat can reach. A gain stops at the cap, it never lowers a stat that's already higher.

LevelObjectiveUpgrades
1Play 2 matchesOVR +7 (83) · Dribbling +10 (83) · Short Passing +10 (85) · Balance +7 (82) · Positioning +5 (84) · Skill Moves +1★ (4★) · First Touch

3Win 1 matchSprint Speed +10 (83) · Ball Control +10 (85) · Vision +10 (82) · Agility +7 (85) · Stamina +5 (84) · Rapid

Every objective accepts Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or higher, or Rush, Rivals, Champions and Live Events, using your active Evo player in game. Destructoid's level table matches fut.gg's numbers.

Across the whole eligible pool, fut.gg's evolved list shows:

  • 97% of cards (5,134) gain the full +7 OVR. Only 175 cards starting at 77–80 lose part of the +7 to the 83 cap. Another 88 start at 76 and land exactly on 83.
  • Face Pace rises by a median of 10, from 66 to 76, and 1,472 cards finish at 80 Pace or higher.
  • Face Dribbling rises by a median of 9. Passing gains a median of 6.
  • Face Defending is unchanged on all 5,309 cards. Shooting and Physical gain a median of 1.
  • 2,503 cards go from 3★ to 4★ skills, and 2,468 from 2★ to 3★. The 338 cards already on 4★ stay there.

Why didn't my Zoomaestro player get Rapid?

Because Zoomaestro's PlayStyles stop at three. Each level's PlayStyle is only added if the card holds fewer than 3 PlayStyles at that moment. Level 1 adds First Touch, Level 2 adds Technical, Level 3 adds Rapid, in that order. A card that starts with one PlayStyle usually reaches three after Level 2, so Rapid, the one you'd want on a "pace" Evo, is skipped.

Which FC 27 Zoomaestro cards get Rapid: eligible cards grouped by existing PlayStyle count

Here's how that plays out across the 5,309 eligible cards:

Existing PlayStylesCardsWhat Zoomaestro adds
03,460 (65%)First Touch, Technical, Rapid
1915 (17%)Usually First Touch + Technical (780 cards). Rapid only if the card already had one of the other two
2447 (8%)At most one PlayStyle, usually First Touch (416 cards)
3 or more487 (9%)Nothing

In total, 3,604 cards (68%) gain Rapid and 1,705 don't. Popular picks like Curtis Jones, Lucas Bergvall, Senny Mayulu and Johan Manzambi all start with one PlayStyle and finish with First Touch and Technical but no Rapid. Marc Bernal, Seko Fofana and Marco Reus already have three or more, so they get the stat boosts and no PlayStyle at all. The exception is a card that already owns First Touch or Technical: that level adds nothing, which leaves room for Rapid. Christopher Nkunku starts with Technical, so he gets First Touch and Rapid.

That isn't a reason to skip them. The +10 Acceleration and +10 Sprint Speed land either way. But if you want Rapid on the card, pick a player with no PlayStyles. The order also matters for other Evos: Technical, Gamechanger (from the Ultimate Gauntlet 2) and the Quick Step consumable all require max 2 PlayStyles. Run any of those first, because a card coming out of Zoomaestro usually has three and is locked out of them.

Rapid itself is a weaker PlayStyle in FC 27 than it was last year. It's one of the ten PlayStyles EA rebalanced at launch, which our FC 27 PlayStyles guide covers.

Who are the best players for Zoomaestro?

We ranked the evolved cards by fut.gg's GG Rating after the Evo, then checked every pick against the requirements by hand. All of these are base Gold cards except TOTW Reus and TOTW Mijnans. Prices move daily, so check the market before you buy.

Can you chain Zoomaestro into Centre Stage for 85 OVR?

Yes, for the right cards, and the order matters. Centre Stage is the free CDM/CM Evo EA released on 15 October. It accepts cards up to 81 OVR with Pace 85 or lower, adds +10 OVR on its first level and caps at 85. Our Speed Bump and Centre Stage guide has its full level table: 4 levels, 6 matches, no wins.

Run Zoomaestro first. A 74-rated card comes out at 81, still inside Centre Stage's limit, and Centre Stage's pace cap of 77 never lowers the 80+ pace Zoomaestro just gave it. Run them the other way and Centre Stage's +10 OVR and Defending boosts usually make the card ineligible for Zoomaestro (max 80 OVR, Defending 74).

FC 27 Zoomaestro then Centre Stage chain: base OVR, after Zoomaestro and 85 OVR after Centre Stage

fut.gg's chain results for the strongest candidates:

PlayerBaseAfter ZoomaestroAfter Centre StageFinal PAC / DRI / PAS / DEF
Mady Camara (CM)73808583 / 82 / 82 / 81
Richard Sánchez (CM)74818583 / 83 / 83 / 79
Lorenzo Amatucci (CM)73808580 / 83 / 81 / 79
Nicklas Røjkjær (CM)74818580 / 83 / 81 / 76
Salvatore Esposito (CDM)74818579 / 83 / 82 / 80
Facundo Bernal (CDM)74818580 / 80 / 80 / 80
José Cifuentes (CM)70778580 / 81 / 77 / 78

The rules for the chain:

  • Base 68–74 reaches 85. Below 68, the two +7 and +10 jumps fall short (Yaya Fofana goes 67 → 74 → 84).
  • No CAM, ST or CB on the card. Centre Stage excludes those positions and, like Zoomaestro, checks every position. That rules out cards like Thiago Pitarch (70 CM), who also lists CAM.
  • Main or alternate position must include CM or CDM. 768 of the 5,309 Zoomaestro cards are rated 68–74 and pass every chain filter, so they can reach 85 this way.
  • Centre Stage must be started by Sunday 25 October, 18:00 UTC and completed by Sunday 1 November, 18:00 UTC (fut.gg, Centre Stage). Zoomaestro takes 5 matches, so you have roughly six days to finish it first.

Lower-rated cards (57–67) have a three-step route: Zoomaestro → Middle Management → Centre Stage. fut.gg shows Modibo Fofana going 58 → 65 → 80 → 85 and Yaya Fofana 67 → 74 → 80 → 85. Middle Management has to be started by Thursday 22 October, 17:00 UTC and needs 24 hours of Training Camp, so this is the tightest of the three plans. Middle Management can also come before Zoomaestro (fut.gg shows Yaya Fofana at 83 OVR and 83 Pace that way), but only on cards that still have 74 Defending or lower after it. fut.gg's chain tool returns no Middle Management → Zoomaestro result for Lorenzo Amatucci, for example.

When does Zoomaestro end, and how fast can you finish it?

You must start Zoomaestro by Wednesday 28 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC and finish it by Wednesday 4 November 2026 at 18:00 UTC (fut.gg). There's no Training Camp timer, so the only limit is the 5 matches.

The quickest route is Squad Battles on Semi-Pro: four games plus one win, about an hour of play. The one win is the only real gate. If you're running the Centre Stage chain, finish Zoomaestro before the weekend, because Centre Stage closes on Sunday.

Zoomaestro takes up one Evolution slot while it's active. Our guide to how many Evos you can run at once in FC 27 has the slot rules. Zoomaestro also isn't repeatable: fut.gg lists a repeatability count of 1.

Is Zoomaestro worth it?

Yes, on almost any eligible CAM or CM you'd actually play. It's free, it takes five matches, and up to +10 Acceleration and +10 Sprint Speed (capped at 83) fix the stat that keeps most 75–80 rated midfielders on the bench. The two caveats are:

  • Don't use it on a card you'll want for Quick Step or Gamechanger later. Those Evos need 2 PlayStyles or fewer.
  • On a 68–74 rated CM or CDM, it's half of an 85. That's the bigger prize and it closes on 25 October.

Keep expectations in proportion. EA has said this year's upgrades are deliberately smaller: "by the end of the season, we are intending for the scope of Attribute and PlayStyle upgrades between base items and final campaign Items to be meaningfully smaller compared to FC 26" (FUT Deep Dive). An 83 or 85 OVR midfielder for 0 coins is good value in that economy, but it's a squad-depth card, not an end-game one. Our breakdown of the FC 27 Evolutions nerf covers the rest.

No time to finish Zoomaestro and start Centre Stage before 25 October, then clear its six matches by 1 November? Our FC 27 team can clear your Evolution levels for you, or top up your club so you can buy the right midfielder for the chain.

What hasn't EA said about Zoomaestro?

  • Any official page. We found no EA web page for Zoomaestro; the Evo is shown in-game. Requirements, upgrades and dates here are fut.gg's capture of the in-game data, matched against FUTBIN.
  • Whether the PlayStyle rule is intentional. The "added only below 3 PlayStyles" behaviour is visible in the data on every card, but EA hasn't explained it.
  • Whether EA extends the start-by date. If it moves, we'll update this guide.

FAQ

Is FC 27 Zoomaestro free? Yes. It costs 0 coins and 0 FC Points. You need to play 4 matches and win 1, in Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or higher, Rush, Rivals, Champions or Live Events.

What are the Zoomaestro requirements? Max 80 OVR, CAM or CM (main or alternate position), Pace 75 or lower, Defending 74 or lower, max 4★ skill moves and max 7 PlayStyles.

What OVR does Zoomaestro give? +7 OVR up to a cap of 83. 97% of eligible cards get the full +7. Cards starting at 76 or higher finish at 83.

Why didn't my player get Rapid from Zoomaestro? Each Zoomaestro PlayStyle is only added while the card has fewer than 3 PlayStyles. First Touch comes at Level 1 and Technical at Level 2, so a card that started with one PlayStyle is usually already at three when Rapid would land at Level 3. The exception: if the card already owns First Touch or Technical, that level adds nothing and Rapid still fits.

Can I put a Zoomaestro player into Centre Stage? Yes, if the card is a CM or CDM with no CAM, ST or CB position and finishes Zoomaestro at 81 or lower. fut.gg shows 68–74 rated cards finishing at 85 OVR. Start Centre Stage by 25 October, 18:00 UTC.

When does Zoomaestro end? Start it by Wednesday 28 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC and finish it by Wednesday 4 November 2026 at 18:00 UTC.
