EA SPORTS FC 27 is resetting every Archetype's Attribute Points (AP) in The Grounds and Clubs. EA announced it on 19 October 2026 in The Grounds Developer Archetypes Update. The update re-prices 87 attribute costs across all 13 Archetypes: 58 go up and 29 go down. Once it lands, every Pro has to be rebuilt from scratch. This guide lists every change, explains what EA means by "classified incorrectly", shows which builds come out ahead, and gives you a rebuild plan for the Pros that need one.
Current phase: FC 27 is live worldwide (released 25 September 2026). Season 1 ends and Season 2 begins on Thursday 22 October 2026 according to EA's Launch Rewards article, and that is the same day the Archetypes update ships.
TL;DR — quick answer: EA will reset Attribute Points for every FC 27 Archetype in an update deployed by Thursday 22 October, 2:00am Pacific Time (09:00 UTC). Your level and total AP per Archetype stay the same, but you have to redistribute every point afterwards. Across 13 Archetypes, 58 attributes get more expensive and 29 get cheaper. Attacking Positioning is no longer required for any Archetype Specialization. Everyone who has created a Pro gets 5,000 Club Coins and one 1.75x AXP Multiplier for 6 matches. Pace gets dearer on Finisher and Disruptor and cheaper on Spark and Magician. Boss is the only Archetype with no cost cut at all.

What exactly is EA changing on 22 October?
EA's update makes three linked changes and adds compensation:
- AP costs are re-priced. Some attributes cost more AP to upgrade on a given Archetype, others cost less. EA gives the direction for each one but publishes no AP amounts.
- Attacking Positioning is removed as a requirement for Archetype Specializations, which EA says grants "more flexibility to allocate your AP".
- All Attribute Points are reset. In EA's words: "It's important to note, your level and total amount of AP you have per Archetype will not change. However, you will need to redistribute your AP across your Attributes following the update."
- Compensation: "any Player who has previously created a Pro (and will therefore need to reallocate their Attribute Points) will receive 5,000 Club Coins and one 1.75x AXP Multiplier for 6 Matches."
On timing, EA's wording is "an update that will be deployed by Thursday, October 22th, 2:00am Pacific Time" (the "22th" typo is EA's). In late October, Pacific Time is UTC−7, so the deadline is 09:00 UTC, 10:00 in the UK and 12:00 in Moscow on 22 October. Because it says "by", the update could arrive earlier. Plan for any time up to that deadline.
This was flagged weeks ago. On 2 October, the Grounds Developer Launch Update listed "Incorrect Archetype Point costs for certain upgrades" with the status "We are investigating." The 19 October article is the result.
Why is EA resetting Archetype Attribute Points?
EA says the system priced some stats wrongly: "we found that certain Attributes were being classified incorrectly, which impacted their AP costs. We are correcting these costs while also making targeted changes to better align progression with each Archetype's identity." The update gives the reason as live data from the worldwide launch, and adds that doing it "early in the season ensures we will have a stable and balanced foundation for the year ahead."
Players had noticed. In a September r/fifaclubs thread mapping cheap and expensive upgrades per Archetype, players in the thread questioned why Finishing was so expensive on the Finisher, and some called the key attributes bugged. That is the clearest example of what EA is fixing: under the reset, the Finisher's Finishing, Composure, Reactions and Volleys all get cheaper.
Which FC 27 Archetypes get cheaper, and which get more expensive?
Here is EA's full list as published, grouped the way EA groups it. "Up" means more AP per upgrade and "down" means less.
| Archetype | More expensive (up) | Cheaper (down) |
|---|---|---|
| Shot Stopper (GK) | Acceleration, Short Passing, GK Positioning | GK Reflexes |
| Sweeper Keeper (GK) | Vision, Ball Control, Long Passing, GK Kicking, GK Reflexes | GK Positioning |
| Progressor (DEF) | Composure, Long Passing, Defensive Awareness, Standing Tackle | Ball Control |
| Boss (DEF) | Strength, Heading Accuracy, Sliding Tackle | none |
| Marauder (DEF) | Acceleration, Balance, Interceptions, Dribbling | Stamina, Crossing |
| Disruptor (MID) | Sprint Speed, Crossing, Sliding Tackle | Aggression, Standing Tackle |
| Recycler (MID) | Acceleration, Stamina, Aggression, Shot Power, Standing Tackle | Strength, Interceptions, Defensive Awareness |
| Maestro (MID) | Strength, Interceptions, Short Passing, Defensive Awareness, Long Shots | Agility, Reactions, Ball Control, Long Passing |
| Creator (MID) | Agility, Reactions, Composure, Ball Control, Long Passing | Dribbling, Long Shots, Curve |
| Spark (ATT) | Vision, Dribbling, Short Passing, Long Shots, Curve | Sprint Speed, Agility |
| Magician (ATT) | Balance, Composure, Vision, Shot Power, Volleys | Acceleration, Short Passing, Curve |
| Finisher (ATT) | Acceleration, Sprint Speed, Agility, Vision, Ball Control, Dribbling | Reactions, Composure, Finishing, Volleys |
| Target (ATT) | Acceleration, Ball Control, Finishing, Short Passing, Curve | Jumping, Strength, Heading Accuracy |
Three things stand out:
- Finisher has the most changes (10), with 6 up and 4 down. It is also the clearest swap: pace and ball-carrying get dearer, and pure finishing gets cheaper.
- Boss is the only Archetype with zero cuts. Strength, Heading Accuracy and Sliding Tackle all get dearer, and nothing gets cheaper.
- The two keepers swap. Shot Stopper gets cheaper GK Reflexes and dearer GK Positioning. Sweeper Keeper gets the exact opposite.
Is the reset really a nerf?
Mostly it is a correction, and it lands heavily on whatever was cheapest before. EA publishes no AP price list, so we checked its 87 changes against the most complete community price map: Pro Clubs HQ's per-Archetype AP tiers (updated 23 September). That map sorts every attribute on every Archetype into four tiers, from cheapest to most expensive.
The result is lopsided:
- 48 of the 58 increases (83%) hit attributes that were in that Archetype's cheapest tier. Six were "cheap" and four were "expensive". None were in the most expensive tier.
- None of the 29 decreases touched the cheapest tier. Eleven came from "most expensive", eleven from "expensive" and seven from "cheap".
So the reset is mostly not about buffing or nerfing particular Archetypes. It appears to narrow the gap between the cheapest and dearest stats (EA has not published the amounts), and it rescues identity stats that were stuck at the top of the price list, such as the Finisher's Finishing (most expensive tier), the Spark's Sprint Speed and Agility (most expensive) and the Magician's Acceleration (most expensive).
The community data has limits, and you should know them. The tiers come from a fan-made builder (the site says it is not affiliated with EA). They describe the pre-reset game, and EA has not said how far any single cost moves. For example, the community figure of 76 AP to reach 90 Sprint Speed on a Finisher or Disruptor versus 234 on a Target, Creator or Maestro is pre-reset. Both Finisher and Disruptor have their Sprint Speed cost going up, so that gap will shrink, but nobody can give you the new number until the update is live.
Where does cheap pace go after the reset?
Pace is the change most players will notice first, because the community price data shows a big spread there: about three times the AP for the same 90 Sprint Speed (76 versus 234).
- Pace gets dearer on: Finisher (Acceleration, Sprint Speed and Agility, the only Archetype to lose all three), Target (Acceleration), Marauder (Acceleration), Recycler (Acceleration), Shot Stopper (Acceleration), Disruptor (Sprint Speed) and Creator (Agility).
- Pace gets cheaper on: Spark (Sprint Speed and Agility), Magician (Acceleration) and Maestro (Agility).
In practice, a rapid striker built on a Finisher will cost more after 22 October. That does not automatically make Spark the cheapest fast attacker. Before the reset, Spark's Sprint Speed and Agility sat in its most expensive community tier, while Finisher's Sprint Speed sat in the cheapest. A cut of unknown size from the top tier might still leave Spark dearer than the post-reset Finisher. Which Archetype gives the cheapest pace overall is unknown until the new costs are live, so price both in-game before you commit.
Which Archetype should you pick after the reset?
These are our editorial picks, based only on EA's cost directions, because no post-reset AP numbers exist yet. Rerun the maths in-game once the update is live.
- Poacher striker: Finisher. Finishing, Composure, Reactions and Volleys all get cheaper. Accept lower pace and play on the shoulder.
- Pace winger or inside forward: Spark. Sprint Speed and Agility get cheaper (from the top price tier, so check the new cost against a Finisher). Dribbling, Curve and Vision cost more.
- Creative forward or number 10: Magician. Acceleration, Short Passing and Curve get cheaper. Composure and Shot Power get dearer.
- Aerial or hold-up striker: Target. Jumping, Strength and Heading Accuracy get cheaper. Its pace and touch get dearer, which makes it a purer target player.
- Deep playmaker: Maestro. Agility, Reactions, Ball Control and Long Passing all get cheaper. That is four cuts, tied with Finisher for the most.
- Ball-winning midfielder: Recycler or Disruptor. Recycler gets cheaper Strength, Interceptions and Defensive Awareness. Disruptor gets cheaper Aggression and Standing Tackle, but its Sprint Speed gets dearer.
- Attacking full-back: Marauder. Stamina and Crossing get cheaper, but Acceleration and Dribbling get dearer.
- Centre-back: both Boss and Progressor get more expensive on their core defending stats, and Boss gets no cuts at all. In our read, the same level will likely buy slightly lower defending numbers than before. Progressor at least gets cheaper Ball Control.
- Goalkeeper: choose Shot Stopper for cheaper Reflexes or Sweeper Keeper for cheaper Positioning.

What does removing Attacking Positioning from Specializations change?
Specializations are late-game unlocks that, according to community builders, let you swap your signature PlayStyle for a PlayStyle+. EA has not published the full unlock criteria. Community builders list three attribute targets per Specialization, and in Pro Clubs HQ's list (which the site itself says to treat as unconfirmed until EA publishes), 4 of 39 use Attacking Positioning: Joker (Spark), Invader (Magician), Hunter (Finisher) and Runner (Target). Those are all attacking Archetypes.
If that list is right, those four Specializations become cheaper to reach on 22 October, because you no longer need to buy Attacking Positioning up to the threshold. EA has not said whether it will add a different requirement in its place. Check the Specialization screen after the update before you spend.
How do you rebuild your Pro after the reset?
You can't pre-spend for a cost table that doesn't exist yet, so the job before Thursday is to prepare.
Before the update (now to 22 October):
- Screenshot your current build for every Archetype you use: attribute values, PlayStyles and Specialization. It is the only record you will have.
- Note your level and AP for each Archetype. EA says both stay the same. If either changes, you have a support ticket with proof.
- Don't spend time fine-tuning your attribute allocation this week. It will be reset. AXP you earn or apply is kept, because levels and total AP survive the update.
After the update:
- Claim the compensation first. Look for the 5,000 Club Coins and the 1.75x AXP Multiplier. EA gives no claim location, so check your inventory and objectives.
- Start with the identity stats that got cheaper (see the table above), but compare their new per-point cost in-game against your previously cheapest stats before committing. Some cuts come from the top price tier and may still cost more per point.
- Hit thresholds, not round numbers. PlayStyle and Specialization unlocks need specific attribute values, so spend to reach the next unlock rather than spreading points evenly.
- Use the 1.75x multiplier on a second Archetype. Masteries give permanent attribute boosts to every build (EA's example: Finisher Level 10 gives +1 Finishing and +1 Composure to every Archetype, per the Grounds Deep Dive). Mastery milestones sit at fixed levels, so a low-level Archetype is the most likely place for six boosted matches to reach one.
- Tune incrementally. You don't need to wipe everything to experiment. EA's Help page says you "can reduce individual Attributes incrementally" and that changing your allocation costs nothing (EA Help, How Archetypes work).
In a Clubs League Match, you have to be on the bench before you can edit your Archetype. Go to Player Management, then Archetypes, make your changes and return to the lobby, per the same EA Help page. In Rush and Drop-In, use the Archetypes tab.
Do you lose your level, Masteries or Club progress?
EA's answer covers levels and AP directly: "your level and total amount of AP you have per Archetype will not change." EA does not mention Masteries, but Masteries unlock at level milestones, and levels are untouched, so there is no reason to expect them to reset. That is our inference, not an EA statement. Club progress, objectives and cosmetics are not part of this update at all.
Two clarifications EA's wording settles:
- The 5,000 coins are Club Coins, not Ultimate Team coins. EA's own Help page calls the Grounds currency "Grounds Coins", while the update says "Club Coins". Either way, it is the Grounds and Clubs economy. Nothing in this update touches your Ultimate Team coins, squads or transfer market.
- The Season Pass does connect the modes. EA's Season Pass help says FC 27 Season Points can be earned in Ultimate Team, The Grounds and Career Mode. Grounds matches during the rebuild still move you up the same Season 2 track. Our Season 2 SP math shows what that track is worth.
What hasn't EA said yet?
EA has published no data for any of these, so treat any number you see elsewhere as a guess until the update is live:
- The new AP cost of any attribute. EA gives only up or down.
- Whether the level cap changes with Season 2. Some players in an r/fifaclubs thread expect a higher cap once the season ends. EA has not announced one, and the update only says your level "will not change".
- What replaces Attacking Positioning in the affected Specializations, if anything.
- Where the compensation appears in-game.
Since EA did not publish the AP numbers, the 13-row table above and the before-and-after tier comparison are the most useful tools you have until the update ships.

FAQ
When is the FC 27 Archetypes reset? EA says the update will be deployed by Thursday 22 October 2026, 2:00am Pacific Time, which is 09:00 UTC. It could land earlier. The same day is the start of Season 2.
Do I lose my Archetype level in the FC 27 reset? No. EA says your level and the total AP you have per Archetype will not change. Only the allocation is wiped, so you have to place your points again.
What compensation do you get for the FC 27 Archetypes reset? Any player who has already created a Pro gets 5,000 Club Coins and one 1.75x AXP Multiplier that lasts for 6 matches. These are Grounds and Clubs rewards, not Ultimate Team coins.
What is the best Archetype in FC 27 after the reset? It depends on your position. Based on EA's cost changes, Finisher suits poachers (cheaper Finishing, Composure, Reactions and Volleys), Spark gets cheaper pace, Maestro got the most midfield cuts, and Boss is the only Archetype with no cost cut. EA has not published the new AP numbers, so confirm in-game.
Does resetting Attribute Points cost anything in FC 27? No. EA's Help page says changing individual Attributes and resetting your build costs nothing, with no reset item and no Grounds Coins needed. Nothing in the 19 October update changes that.
Is Attacking Positioning still needed for Specializations? Not after the update. EA is removing Attacking Positioning as a requirement for Archetype Specializations. Community builders list it on four attacking Specializations (Joker, Invader, Hunter and Runner), but EA has not published the full criteria.
