Every September the same argument restarts on r/gtaonline: which MC business is actually worth owning in 2026, now that Acid Labs, Nightclubs and the Agency exist? The honest answer is that four of the five are mediocre and one of them quietly out-earns most of the "modern" money methods — and right now there is a GTA$1,000,000 reason to find out which.
This guide ranks all five Motorcycle Club businesses by real profit per hour — production time, supply cost and full-stock sale value included, not the fantasy "sell price" numbers most lists quote. Every figure below is taken from the GTA Wiki's production and sale tables, and the live event details come from Rockstar's own Newswire.
Quick answer: The Cocaine Lockup is the best GTA Online MC business in 2026 by a wide margin — a fully upgraded lockup nets $32,500 per hour on a local sale and $67,500 per hour on a far, cross-border sale, roughly 50% more than second-place Meth. The full ranking by far-sale profit per hour is Cocaine ($67,500) → Meth ($43,125) → Counterfeit Cash ($40,781) → Weed ($36,563) → Document Forgery ($22,500). Buy one business — Cocaine — upgrade Equipment and Staff, and ignore the other four unless you specifically want the Nightclub feeder. This week the Business Rivalries Event pays an extra GTA$1,000,000 for selling GTA$1,000,000 of product, and hands out a free Grapeseed Clubhouse (normally $225,000) to get you started. What counts as an MC business in GTA Online?
MC businesses are the five production properties unlocked by owning a Clubhouse and becoming an MC President, added in the Bikers update on October 4, 2016. They are:
- Document Forgery Office
- Weed Farm
- Counterfeit Cash Factory
- Methamphetamine Lab
- Cocaine Lockup
All five work identically: you buy supplies (or steal them), the business converts supplies into product over real time while you sit in the session, and then you run a sale mission to cash out. The only things that change between them are the clock, the cap and the price tag.
Two rules decide everything that follows:
- Product only accrues while you are in an active GTA Online session. Log off and the timer stops. This is the single biggest reason players think their businesses are "broken".
- Where you sell matters more than what you sell. Selling across the city/countryside divide pays a +50% premium over a local buyer — and that premium is what separates a decent business from a great one.
How much does each MC business actually make per hour?
Here are the real numbers with both the Equipment and Staff upgrades installed, which is the only configuration worth running. "Profit" below is the full-stock sale value minus the full supply cost, divided by the hours it takes to fill the stash from empty.
| Business | Production rate | Full stock | Supply cost | Sale (local) | Sale (far) | Profit/hr (local) | Profit/hr (far) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cocaine Lockup | 1 stack / 30 min | 10 | $187,500 | $350,000 | $525,000 | $32,500 | $67,500 |
| Methamphetamine Lab | 1 bin / 18 min | 20 | $187,500 | $297,500 | $446,250 | $18,333 | $43,125 |
| Counterfeit Cash Factory | 1 stack / 8 min | 40 | $150,000 | $245,000 | $367,500 | $17,813 | $40,781 |
| Weed Farm | 1 bundle / 4 min | 80 | $120,000 | $210,000 | $315,000 | $16,875 | $36,563 |
| Document Forgery Office | 1 box / 3 min | 60 | $90,000 | $105,000 | $157,500 | $5,000 | $22,500 |
Three things jump out of that table immediately.
The gap at the top is enormous. Cocaine's $67,500/hr far-sale profit is 56% higher than Meth's $43,125 and three times Document Forgery's $22,500. There is no configuration in which a second business beats simply running Cocaine properly.
Local selling destroys Document Forgery. At $105,000 for a full 60-box stash against a $90,000 supply bill, a local Forgery sale clears $15,000 total — under three hours of production for the price of a decent car respray. Forgery only functions as a business if you always sell far.
Small stashes are a feature, not a bug. Cocaine fills its 10-stack cap in five hours; Weed needs 5 hours 20 minutes to fill 80 bundles. Smaller caps mean fewer vehicles in the sale mission and a far higher chance of finishing inside the timer solo.
One thing worth stating plainly, because it comes up in every thread: the July 14, 2026 economy rebalance in Title Update 1.73 did not nerf MC business payouts. That update cut Cayo Perico target values and moved several heists onto a weekly first-completion cadence, but the only MC line in the patch notes is a bug fix for Sell Product missions ending unexpectedly. The sale values above are current.
Which MC business should you buy first?
Buy the Cocaine Lockup, and buy the cheapest one. Location has zero effect on production or payout — only on how far you drive. The cheapest lockup is Alamo Sea at $975,000; the most expensive is Morningwood at $1,852,500. Paying an extra $877,500 for a nicer postcode buys you nothing but a shorter resupply drive.
Entry prices across the five businesses:
- Document Forgery Office — from $650,000 (Grapeseed)
- Weed Farm — from $715,000 (San Chianski)
- Counterfeit Cash Factory — from $845,000 (Grand Senora)
- Methamphetamine Lab — from $910,000 (Grand Senora)
- Cocaine Lockup — from $975,000 (Alamo Sea)
Then budget for upgrades. Equipment and Staff are mandatory; Security is not. Security only slows down raids, and raids only happen if you ignore the business for a long time — but it still adds to your daily bill. A fully kitted Document Forgery Office, for example, carries a daily fee of $1,500: $750 base, plus $250 staff, $375 equipment and $125 security. Skip Security and that drops to $1,375 a day. Useful quirk: those fees are only charged while you are actively registered as an MC President, so a business you are not running is not quietly draining your balance.
All-in, the cheapest fully upgraded Cocaine Lockup lands around $2,300,000. At the far-sale rate of $67,500/hr that pays for itself in roughly 34 hours of production; at a realistic mix of local and far sales, closer to 50 hours. That is the honest payback period, and it is why most players either commit to one business properly or skip MC work entirely in favour of heists.
Why is the Business Rivalries Event the best time to run MC businesses?
Because Rockstar is currently paying you a second time for work you were going to do anyway. The Business Rivalries Event runs September 3–30, 2026 and splits the month into four themed weeks — Executives, Bikers, Gunrunners and Nightclub Owners. Rockstar's Newswire frames it like this:
"Put your criminal enterprises to work all throughout September during the GTA Online Business Rivalries Event, steering the invisible hand of the free market in your favor with profitable bonuses for Executives, Bikers, Gunrunners, and Nightclub Owners." — Rockstar Games, Newswire
We are in the Biker week right now (September 10–16). The Weekly Challenge is the one that matters: earn GTA$1,000,000 selling all kinds of product and you bank an extra GTA$1,000,000 plus the Junk Tracksuit. Across the four weeks the event is worth up to GTA$4,000,000 in challenge payouts alone.
Three more things worth knowing before the week closes:
- The Grapeseed Clubhouse — normally $225,000 — is this week's free property. If you have never been an MC President, this is your entry ticket, and it unlocks MC businesses, Clubhouse Contracts and Bike Service.
- Clubhouse Contracts and Community Series carry bonus multipliers this week, which is the fastest way to grind toward that GTA$1,000,000 target without owning a business yet.
- Complete at least one Weekly Challenge between September 3 and 23 and you can claim a free Penaud La Coureuse with its HSW upgrade during the September 24–30 window.
One caution: the community claim doing the rounds that Bike Service is paying "$300,000 per bike" or running at "6x" this week is not confirmed by Rockstar. The documented Bike Service maths is a $10,000 service cost against a $60,000 final payment — a clean $50,000 profit, plus a bonus or penalty of up to $5,000 depending on the extra upgrades fitted. Treat the inflated numbers as rumour until the Newswire says otherwise.
How do you hit GTA$1,000,000 in sales fastest this week?
The efficient route depends entirely on whether you already own a business.
If you own an upgraded Cocaine Lockup: two full far sales gets you there. Ten stacks sold cross-border is $525,000 a run, so two cycles clears the GTA$1,000,000 challenge with change. Resupply, go do something else in the same session for five hours of real time, come back and sell.
If you own Meth or Cash instead: you need roughly two and a half full far sales ($446,250 and $367,500 respectively). Stack it with a Weed Farm sale if you have one — the challenge counts "all kinds of product", so Bunker, Hangar, Nightclub and Acid Lab sales feed the same counter.
If you own nothing yet: claim the free Grapeseed Clubhouse, then grind Clubhouse Contracts while the bonus is live. The payouts are modest but they stack fast and they need no capital:
- Jailbreak — from $20,000
- Gunrunning — from $15,000
- Guns for Hire — from $14,000, plus $2,000 per surviving client (needs at least two members)
- By the Pound — from $12,000 per bag
- Cracked — from $6,000 per bag
- Nine Tenths of the Law — from $6,000 per bike
- Fragile Goods — from $3,000 per van (needs at least two members)
Jailbreak and Gunrunning are the two to spam solo — they carry the highest flat payouts and neither requires a crew.
Sale mission rules that decide whether you profit
Sale missions have a 30-minute limit, and playing solo grants an extra 50% time on the clock. That sounds generous until you own a Weed Farm with 80 bundles to shift across five vehicles. It is another argument for Cocaine: ten stacks means fewer deliveries and a far better chance of collecting the whole payout instead of watching product time out.
Always take the far buyer. The cross-border premium is a flat +50% on the entire sale — the single highest-leverage decision in the whole MC loop, worth $175,000 on a full Cocaine stash.
Are MC businesses still worth it compared to newer methods?
Honestly? As a standalone grind, only Cocaine is. Meth, Cash and Weed sit in an awkward middle band where they earn less per hour than an Acid Lab for far more setup cost, and Document Forgery is close to a trap at $5,000/hr on local sales.
Where the other four do earn their keep is as Nightclub feeders — accrued warehouse goods you never have to touch, sold in one trip. If that is your plan, the ranking flips entirely and the cheap businesses win, because you are buying accrual slots rather than sale value. For the full passive picture, see our breakdown of GTA Online's best passive income businesses.
For a direct, active grind in September 2026, the order is unambiguous: one Cocaine Lockup, both upgrades, always sell far. Everything else is optional.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best MC business in GTA Online? The Cocaine Lockup. Fully upgraded it nets $32,500 per hour on a local sale and $67,500 per hour selling cross-border, ahead of Meth ($43,125 far), Counterfeit Cash ($40,781 far), Weed ($36,563 far) and Document Forgery ($22,500 far).
Do MC businesses make money while you are offline? No. Product only accrues while you are in an active GTA Online session. Closing the game stops production entirely, which is the most common reason players believe their businesses are bugged.
How much does a Cocaine Lockup cost in GTA Online? From $975,000 for the Alamo Sea property up to $1,852,500 for Morningwood. Location does not affect production or payouts, so buy the cheapest one and spend the difference on the Equipment and Staff upgrades.
Should you buy the Security upgrade? Usually not. Security only reduces raid frequency, and raids are avoidable by not abandoning your business for long stretches. Skipping it trims your daily fee — a fully upgraded Document Forgery Office pays $1,500 a day, of which $125 is Security alone.
How much is the Business Rivalries weekly challenge worth? GTA$1,000,000 per week for hitting the weekly target, up to GTA$4,000,000 across the September 3–30 event, plus free properties, a Junk Tracksuit this week and a free Penaud La Coureuse with HSW upgrade claimable September 24–30 if you complete at least one challenge before September 23.
How much does the Bike Service pay? $60,000 final payment against a $10,000 service cost — a $50,000 profit — plus a bonus or penalty of up to $5,000 for the extra upgrades fitted. Claims of $300,000 payouts circulating this week are unverified community reports, not Rockstar figures.
Want the Cocaine Lockup without the 50-hour payback? Skip the grind and start the event week with the capital already in the bank:
- GTA 5 Money — cash delivered to your account, enough for the lockup and both upgrades in one go
- GTA 5 Account Boost — rank and RP so you unlock the properties and contracts that gate the good payouts
- GTA 5 Modded Cars — the garage to go with the empire
- All GTA 5 services — everything we run for GTA Online in one place
